Thanks apple! My midwife is going to do a sweep at the gp surgery on Wednesday if nothing has happened xx

longestlurkerever · 09/05/2015 18:26

Good luck piglet! X

Sunshinesaz86 · 09/05/2015 19:00

Good luck piglet you'll have a baby soooo soon!

Re sweep I'll be having mine done with midwife at surgery as that's where I see her. But had one in the hospital yesterday which seems to have done sweet FA, still getting tightening's and few more twinges ruddy but nothing to get excited about. Sad

Happy due date lp

Hello! Good luck to all those waiting/ getting labour signs. I want to encourage/reassure anyone who is a ftm!
Currently sat in bed trying to stay awake with Edward in my arms! First night at home is wonderful although he settles best on me and his dad.
Here is my birth story:
Woke up at 6ish and had a few twinges but nothing out of the ordinary. For the previous 10 days I had been losing my plug but other than that no real signs. Anyway, I decided to do my hypnobirthing tape and went back to sleep until about 8. Woke up with tummy and back ache but nothing too extreme so I made myself some porridge. I was meant to meet DH for lunch but text to say I wasn't feeling well. Pain steadily increased and I kept feeling like I needed a bowel movement and like I needed to push. Had a bath and then at about 10 the pain ramped up and I started feeling sick. Hadn't felt baby so rang MAU and explained the pain and lack of movement.
So unbelievably glad I did this or I may have had baby at home. Was told on the phone I'd have the baby monitored and then be sent home. I was even told I could drive myself in- no one thought was in labour! Anyway the pain become very intense so I rang DH and days get home. 30mins later he arrived just as I threw up and felt some water leak out. On the way to hospital DH was a star guiding me through hypnobirthing techniques. Arrived at MAU and waters broke. However in all the pain/vomming I forgot my notes so they couldn't examine me. DH then had to drive home! While he was gone the urge to push was so strong and MW thought he might miss the birth! Luckily he made it back and we went straight to delivery suite. I stripped off and kneeled on the bed, pushing started. Basically head was struggling to come out so I needed an episiotomy which was fine. They said they may need the suction cup which made me push harder! Luckily I got him out myself! Pain relief was paracetamol and gas and air. Local anaesthetic for the cut. Had delayed cord clamping and skin to skin. The whole experience was so much better and more positive than I could ever have imagined. Labour was about 8am to 13:10 when Edward was born.

So quick Blondie!!! Shock I always pick up my notes and take them.everywhere but in pain I might not... may have to pop in my hospital bag between standard midwife appointments!

Pleased that you are settled at home now :)

SmileyScooby · 10/05/2015 08:33

Thanks for comments re sweep ladies, will be asking mw later this week at appointment if he hasn't come by then.

Wow Blondie that was a close one! Thank you for sharing, as a ftm I have no idea what to expect (I didn't realise that I had been feeling baby move for 3 weeks as was expecting that butterfly thing but all I got was muscle spasms hehe)

Little man was being very quiet this morning whenever I woke up in the night he wasn't moving but am wondering if it was him moving that woke me as I have felt him move in the last hour so am relaxing a bit now, just want him here so I can see him and know instantly if things are ok or not!

KittyVonCatsington · 10/05/2015 08:48

Yay for due dates arriving!! Not long!!

smiley don't worry too much about quietness of little man-he will be getting ready and there is not a lot of room! Just remember if you have any triggers for movement (eating sweet food, ice cold drinks etc.) and that he moves a bit when you do these xx Good luck with a sweep-worked for me!!

Tightening snare good after a sweep sunshine -mine started off that way so keeping fingers crossed!!

Thinking of you piglet!!

LP20140 · 10/05/2015 09:41

Wow Blondie! That's incredible! Huge congratulations xx xx

FeelingBlessed77 · 10/05/2015 09:49

Excited for you all! I still feel quite a way off but must finish packing hospital bag as guess its could be any time really.
I have my baby shower today and tomorrow is my final growth scan where I will be given a long-stop induction date. Gosh it is tiring looking after dd atm though. Played in the garden for 2 hours this morning and now need a lie down! At least she is at nursery for some of tomorrow but it's outdoor nursery which is a bit of a way away and between that and hospital it'll be Thursday before I can have a truly lazy day.

LP20140 · 10/05/2015 10:19

Happy due date feelingblessed!!

LP20140 · 10/05/2015 10:20

Hope scan goes well tomorrow longest x

applecore0317 · 10/05/2015 10:22

Happy Due date feeling sending start of labour vibes to everyone!

Off to Milton Keynes to spend my work vouchers on a sling, and to get DH some much needed food supplies from the South African shop for the hospital bag :D

Then a spicy lunch at Nandos and a nose at eternity rings :)

LP20140 · 10/05/2015 10:23

Ooh lovely apple! Enjoy! X

SmileyScooby · 10/05/2015 12:37
