Had my sweep this afternoon! Was only mildly uncomfortable until I started contracting and then ouch! Shock
Like Kittiker, I've been having on and off contractions since (period pain type waves not BH) but I've read this is normal after a sweep. Still, fingers crossed something happens soon!

Enjoy your meal tonight with your DH Tori

Boondie-I agree with others-my midwife said that 1/5 engaged was how much if he head they could feel so therefore is very very low down in the pelvis and a good thing! Palpable means this was checked with by hand. So, a good thing and you are pretty much engaged/good to go. However, still could be a while before labour starts. Back to back may mean your labour might take a bit longer, but might not. You can still have a water birth of back to back-my colleague had one!!

Blondie87 · 06/05/2015 18:52

Sorry you're in pain Kitty but hopefully it's the start of things getting going!

applecore0317 · 06/05/2015 19:27

Blondie My friend had her baby end and of December, he was back to back and she had a water birth, her waters broke at homr, contractions started amd her baby arrived in seven hours. She got out of the pool to deliver the placenta.

Fingers crossed it's kick started things for you kittiker

Yey to finishing work longest, I was wondering this morning who was still working.

applecore0317 · 06/05/2015 19:30

Tori sounds like an earlier induction may be good with the SPD.

Don't know if this helps blondie

Blondie my 2nd labour was back to back, had gas and air and pethedine same as my other 2, yes it was a bit more painful because it made my back hurt and I already suffer with back pain already, heaviest part is spine all fours or on a chair the wrong way round is good think the spinning babies website has some tips,

mumxof3x · 06/05/2015 19:31

Every midwife uses different terms, all mine have explained it like this lol.... ds1 got to 3/5ths engaged before I was iduced so 3/5ths of the head was in my pelvis. Ds2 at 38 weeks was 1/5th engaged so only the first part engaged. It depends if they use the term engaged or palpable. If only 1/5th is palpable then that means 4/5ths are engaged into the pelvis and they can only feel 1/5th of the head so nearly fully.
And r.e back to back births are still as different to each other as a baby in the correct position, 2/4 of my births were back to back and nothing alike, ds2 was the most painful and very drawn out etc, and leo who was back to back was so much easier to ds2s, my bottom hurt for a few days after though haha, but your plans for labour dont have to be any different at all, plus theres a big chance baby will spin round yet, dont get too worried about it x

mumxof3x · 06/05/2015 19:34

Good luck kitty hope things start x

Chookford · 06/05/2015 19:37

Good luck kitty and kittiker hope something starts soon, and anyone else who is waiting!!

KittyVonCatsington · 06/05/2015 20:34

Really hoping all feline based usernames have extra special luck in the labour department tonight, hee hee!!

How funny that midwives use different interpretations for engagement!

mumxof3x · 06/05/2015 21:19

Yup kitty its very confusing, I was confused with my first as I was reading some people saying that 3/5ths meant 3/5ths were free but she said no 3/5ths in my pelvis and 1/5th was reffered to as just below the pelvic brim, but it said same in my notes too. But I know different places have different notes so likely different information too..ours are dark green in our town. Guess theres only one way to find out blondie lol confirm it with your midwife :)

KittyVonCatsington · 07/05/2015 02:29

Stil getting waves of period pain cramps-quite painful. Watch this space !!

applecore0317 · 07/05/2015 04:18

Fingers and toes crossed kitty

bradders85 · 07/05/2015 04:49

Hi everyone sorry it's taken me so long to catch up. I've finally read everyone's updates so congratulations on all the new baby arrivals and good luck to those waiting Smile.

kitty hope your sweep has done the trick and things get going.

Blondie on one of my sweeps I was told baby was back to back as midwife could easily feel limbs so I spent a little while crawling round the lounge cleaning my skirting boards!! I think George was b2b in the end as my contraction pain was all in my back, quite intense but I managed on gas and air- he came out the right way and I felt him turn so it is possible baby will turn in Labour and come out the right way .

not sure I announced baby name as we were undecided at first but we settled on George Thomas. Smile I Have also switched from breastfeeding to bottle for my own sanity and things are going much better and George seems more settled and I'm happier too, full respect to those who do it it certainly isn't easy. I will hopefully get chance to add my birth story to the postnatal thread today too Smile

Come on May babies!! Grin

KittyVonCatsington · 07/05/2015 04:58

George Thomas is a great name to choose!

Contractions are now an average 7.36mins apart according to my App. Eeek!

applecore0317 · 07/05/2015 05:03

Lovely name Bradders and glad that he is more settled on the bottle :)

Oooh baby kitty could be here by the weekend!

Blondie87 · 07/05/2015 06:51

Nothing happening here yet (40+1) but that's OK. I'm practising being patient:-D

mumxof3x · 07/05/2015 07:20

kitty Oooh exciting! Come on Kitlet!!

I was having the waves of cramps last night too but this morning they have subsided! Boooooo

SmileyScooby · 07/05/2015 07:46

Oooo come on Kitlet don't keep mummy Kitty waiting much longer

Think my little man was quiet in the night and I woke up every three hours instead of 1-2hrs so was panicking a bit this morning but he seems to be wriggling away again and letting me know he's in there!

Chookford · 07/05/2015 08:22

mum Glad to hear Leo is being a good boy and sleeping well

smiley glad your little monkey let you know all is well this morning.. Won't be too much longer before they are all here in our arms and then the new set of worries start! Wink

applecore0317 · 07/05/2015 08:51

That's great Mum, hope it continues!

Glad he's wriggling around now Smiley

Mines been quieter on and off the last couple of days and although I am getting some movement it's not as often and myly usual trick.of rubbing my belly isn't always prroducing movement either. So have dropped the midwife a text just cause it's bugginf me a bit.

applecore0317 · 07/05/2015 09:40

Off to be monitored, typically as soon as they said come down she started having a right fidget, but would rather get checked out than worry if she goes quiet again

Gingerbreadlady1 · 07/05/2015 09:43

Good luck kitty!

mumxof3x · 07/05/2015 09:49

Yes always get checked apple, its often typical that they start fidgeting once you are off to be checked lol. Hope all goes ok x

I have bought leo a rocker off a girl I know a mamas n papas one, she paid 170 for it and ive bought it for 35. Love a bargain looks ultra cool to :D

hope everything is going ok kitty.
