Chookford · 06/05/2015 10:22

Oooooh exciting leanne hope it may be the start of something for you.....

Snooky17 · 06/05/2015 10:35

Yay leeanne at last truckloads of CM and blood are a reason to be excited instead of scaring the crap out of us.
Mum have they checked you for anemia ? Hope you start to feel better soon

Or the go go gadget copter snook could whizz myself off anywhere and then crash ha ha

mumxof3x · 06/05/2015 11:17

Great news leanne.

Yes snooky was anemic during pregnancy and had iron following but not on the tabs now as levels were fine.

KittyVonCatsington · 06/05/2015 11:22

leanne Definitely sounds like a show!! Exciting!!

Blondie87 · 06/05/2015 11:28

Tori sorry to hear that the procedure was painful. It must be really scary when you had the scan but at least if there are any issues they have been detected early and hopefully everything will be ok anyway.

I really hope the sweep gets things moving Kitty. Fingers crossed for a thinning cervix ha!

That sounds promising Leanne! Things sound like they are moving in the right direction.

Since I've had all those earlier signs, things have slowed down this end... Booked myself in for an acupuncture session next week to try and get things going. I had acupuncture when we were ttc and I really think it helped! Midwife appointment today, last one before my due date. Hope I don't need the next one in fortnight as then I'll be officially overdue!

leanne963 · 06/05/2015 11:38

Thanks apple kitty mum and blondie fingers crossed. She feels alot lower today, right in pelvis so I Def think she is dislodging something. Ha!

Oh acupuncture seems to have some great benefits, I hope it works for you blondie x

kittiker · 06/05/2015 12:01

I have totally lost track of this thread - my brain seems awfully fuzzy just now! So many congratulations to all the new babies and mummies - lots of gorgeous photos on Facebook! And commiserations to those feeling crap / anxious / impatient.

I'm 40 + 3 today and just want baby to come out now! Had sweep on Monday and have another tomorrow. No signs as yet though beyond intermittent cramping / BH / lots of CM. Sweep wasn't bad - less uncomfortable than a smear test, I'd say. Hypnobirth breathing helped.

Waiting for blood test to see if I can try to give birth at local MLU - nothing serious but they are very risk adverse (good thing!) If not, I'll have to go down to Paisley, which is 2 1/2 hours drive away. There's a good chance I'd have to go down there anyway but I'd like to get my head around what I'm doing.

Hope everyone else is having a good day today.

applecore0317 · 06/05/2015 12:14

Sorry you're not getting any signs yet kittiker fingers crossed the sweep starts to have an effect or that tomorrow's sweep starts things off.

Also hope you finally know where you will be going. Two and a half hours away is so far, but then if you know at least you can prepare.

Scottishgal78 · 06/05/2015 13:16

Whereabouts are you Kittiker? In Scotland?

SmileyScooby · 06/05/2015 13:57

Bazza sorry ECV didn't work, hope you weren't in too much pain afterwards.

Tori sorry to hear you've had a run of it! I too was hoping for MLU but due to checks needed on baby after delivery (inc X-Ray) I've got to be delivery suite with peads Dr there too, was upset originally by this but realised got to do what is best for baby. Don't know it's any consolation at 36w baby was set at 7lb and at 38w 9lb! I also had a scan at 34w where they thought I had polyhydramnios but when it came to 36w they said fluid levels were normal (very top end of normal but when waters go it will be like niagara!) and that they can change every time you have a scan as baby may have taken more in, be lying oddly etc. I had GD test and that was normal too so they put it down to baby just being big...so you never know things may change.I'm dreading what final weight with actually be as if he put on 2lb in 2 weeks we could be looking at 11lbs!! Currently 39w so hopefully not long to find out. Poor you re your mum, I've also kept stuff from my mum as she is a worrier and a googler!! Hope today is a better day for you x

apple also had terrible nights sleep but congrats on full term!!

snooky also suffering with daggers and indigestion/heartburn grrr

kitty hope sweep goes ok and kitlet makes an appearance soon

mum glad to hear Leo is doing well. Have you gone to the doctors? Hope you feel better soon

Leanne fingers crossed it's the start of something for you! I've had no more signs of plug/cm since yesterday boooo

Snooky love the idea of inspector gadget gadgets!! Loved that programme (and now got the theme in my head hehe)

leanne963 · 06/05/2015 15:32

smiley I havn't had any more since this morning so i don't know whether it was just a little tease haha!!!

Blondie87 · 06/05/2015 15:53

Hi,
Just had MW appointment and come away feeling somewhat anxious (rationally or irrationally I'm not sure!)

Baby is presenting back-to-back. His head is apparently looking up! Have been told by people/NCT etc that this makes for a more painful delivery. Baby has been in perfect position until now so is it likely he'll turn again? Is a water birth still possible with this?

Also, was just wondering if anyone can shed light on what being 1/5 engaged means? Is that only just or fully engaged?

Thanks in advance, just feeling a little scared about baby being b2b.

Blondie87 · 06/05/2015 15:59

Oh and FH is 40cm!!

longestlurkerever · 06/05/2015 16:07

blondie - Even if they're right about him being back to back he could very well turn again. I was told dd was back to back at my final mw appointment but she either wasn't, or she turned, as it was fine in the end. I was told to bounce on my birthing ball and spend time on all fours to try and get her into position - did a bit of that but not loads. Suspect she maybe never was b2b in the first place - positioning is not easy to judge.

As to whether it's more painful, I couldn't comment from direct experience - I have heard it is too, but it isn't something that prevents you being allowed a waterbirth or anything. Someone on this board had a b2b in the MLU. Good luck!

I think 1/5 engaged is fully engaged, but helpfully different midwives seem to use different terminology. It doesn't hugely matter as it gives only a very rough guide as to how far away labour is. My midwife said I am not at all engaged but with second babies engaging often doesn't happen until you go into labour. Don't remember getting ever being told I was more/less than 3/5 engaged with dd.

tori I tried to respond to your post this morning and lost it somehow. Sorry you had a worrying scan. I think these things often turn out to be less serious than they sound but still it's the last thing you want to hear at this already anxious stage. Sorry also about your birth plans going awry. I know how that feels.

Blondie87 · 06/05/2015 16:13

Thanks Longest- hoping he'll turn if he is b2b. Lots of crawling around! the 1/5 is actually in 'relation to the brim' in my notes it says 'an estimate of how much of the presenting part is in the pelvis' so I'm guessing this means 1/5 of the head is in the pelvis so not fully engaged? Confusing lingo! Hope all is well with you longest.

WasabiNuts · 06/05/2015 16:35

Tori, how stressful. Sounds like you are in good hands though. Hope it turns out to be nothing to have worried about.

Blondie, DS was back to back and I laboured in water for a huge chunk of my labouring time - I ended up having him in bed in the end, as I'd gotten out to be checked, and couldn't bring myself to get down the stairs again to get back in the pool - so I'd say yes, a waterbirth is possible. It was rather on the painful side, but he was my first, so I have nothing to compare it to. But we made it with nothing more than TENS, water and gas and air.

Doing ok here - am overdue, but relaxed about it. Still aiming for a homebirth again, and still aiming not to have any medical interventions if I can help it. Am considering acupuncture/pressure.

FeelingBlessed77 · 06/05/2015 16:36

blondie - I was told the opposite to that, it means how much of the head they can feel above the pubic bone

OP posts:
aberjen · 06/05/2015 16:37

blondie b2b is meant to be more painful but still possible to do water birth etc - my friend's first baby was b2b and she had a water birth and I think only paracetamol as pain relief. She said it was very intense but manageable. She also had a pretty quick labour so don't know how that affected things. Hope baby moves around for you before labour Smile

shinyhappyone · 06/05/2015 16:50

Sorry haven't had time to catch up on all your news- will try properly later but just briefly read your post blondie about the engaged thing and remembered this link: www.nct.org.uk/pregnancy/understanding-your-pregnancy-medical-notes
Hope it helps to understand what your mw is saying. Wish they would communicate things properly to us in the first place! xx

Blondie87 · 06/05/2015 16:51

Thank you ladies- feeling a bit better about it now. Just sent me into a bit of a panic as I know you have to what's best in labour in the situation but still really would like a water birth or at least natural labour with minimum medical intervention. Wasabi TENS, water & gas & air is my plan!
Thanks aberjen.

Blondie - ha see what I mean about it meaning different things to different midwives? Silly isn't it?!

I am well thanks. Well, am sooooo looking forward to finishing work on Friday as am tired and sickness has returned with a vengeance. Keep waking in the night starving and if I don't get up and have a snack I vomit. Yeay. But had a midwife appointment today and all is well. Diabetes under control and bloods all good. Also am mostly off on Wednesdays with just a bit of working from home and MIL is here to help with dd today so has been quite relaxing.

Election tomorrow. Excited but nervous. I have a professional interest in it as well as a personal one, though obviously am leaving just in time to miss seeing how the new Govt pans out.

Enjoy your dinner tori - good to have an end-date in sight I think. I have a scan on Monday after which I will be given mine. Think it will be induction at 40w+ a few days with sweeps from 38 weeks.
