charleybelle · 08/05/2015 10:22

jodiesaurus had my 8 week scan today and due date is also 18th December - my 30th birthday!!

FlorIxora · 08/05/2015 10:34

Jodie Excellent news! great relief, isn't it?

I am so food-mad that I can't help but hope Bean will be here about a week before EDD (21st or 22nd) so that I can gorge on proper food for Christmas.

ChandlersFarang · 08/05/2015 12:08

Jodie & charley massive congrats on your scans!! Love the good news rolling in. Makes a great change to the sodding election. I just sobbed at Nick Clegg's resignation speech (cheers hormones/Tories).... I'm also in the public sector, and I know there's going to be a shitload of slash and burn to come. Confused also fucked off with the system in general. How is it fair that the SNP got 4.7% of the vote but 56 MPs, whilst the Lib Dems and Greens got similar numbers but fuck all? Seriously. Time for reform, but no chance the Tories will do it (turkeys don't vote for Christmas...).

Waiting - yes the tits don't help with the running do they!! Gah!! and Flor you are a darling giving me such a good pep talk. I do wonder how much of this heft is bloat and water retention. I'll be back in that gym in 9 months time!!! GrinGrin

Clare - yep headaches have become 'a thing' for me too, got one at the end of the working day yesterday and another one today. Lovely!

PeppermintTee · 08/05/2015 12:15

Jodie that's amazing! Thanks so much for sharing.

Avasmum8 · 08/05/2015 12:19

Jodie and charley great news on the scan!! I also had one this morning :) Due 15th December although that could change at the next one! I'm so relieved I've made it past 8 weeks, even though it's only a few days so far keeping everything crossed for our sticky beans :)

MrsMcJnr · 08/05/2015 12:36

Hello girls :) Sorry I haven´t been on for ages. Hope everyone is well. Looking forward to all the scan news over the next few weeks :)

MrsMcJnr · 08/05/2015 12:38

Great scan photo Jodiesaurus :)

WaitingForEgg · 08/05/2015 12:52

Jodie Amazing scan congrats! Desperate for my turn now!

FlorIxora · 08/05/2015 13:32

I feel very positive about the pregnancy today and very much in love with the bean. Today is the first time that I am not riddled with fear. I think they give all women a free 7 week scan. It does wonders for one's sanity.

I find the nausea is improved if I am walking around btw. Anyone else?

And has anyone else experiencing a phenomenon I call The Wall? The Wall is a new thing to me. Before, when I was exhausted, I would have a drink of water and a coffee and I would simply plough on and my energy would normally come back. Now, since being pregnant, when I feel exhausted I hit The Wall. All systems shut down. Concentration becomes impossible. The thought of having to walk to the kitchen for a drink can induce tears. I just can't go past the exhaustion or dig deep. Once The Wall has been hit, that's it for the day, only the sofa will do. On a good day, that may happen at 8.30 pm, on my worst day it happened at 2 p.m. and it took all I had to not weep and beg my boss to let me leave. More and more The Wall appears around 5 p.m.

Counting the days to the promise-filled 2nd trimester :D

abi2790 · 08/05/2015 13:51

Ditto to all those with super smelling senses. Cigarette smoke and bacon are the one things that are really turning my stomach at the minute and I swear I can smell smoke when there's nobody anywhere near me! Unfortunately for me dp is a smoker and it kills me everytime he comes in after having a smoke!

abi2790 · 08/05/2015 13:53

Flora The Wall gets me every day for me. Life never stops though when you have a 2 year old! Sad

abi2790 · 08/05/2015 13:55

I meant to say gets me every day at 2pm! See, it's hit me already!

ThreeBeanRap · 08/05/2015 14:39

I'm an ex smoker and I am LOVING the smell of cigarette smoke, it's not making me want to smoke but it just smells great. Coffee though makes me want to throw up.

abi2790 · 08/05/2015 14:49

I'm with you on the coffee threebean! I've had lots of aversions and sickly smells but no cravings yet (except for the need to stuff my face with as much food as possible haha!)

NicNak22 · 08/05/2015 17:05

Ladies thank you for your advice, I read a negative post on here a while ago about people not wanting to know until 12 weeks but it's it our news to share so I'm hopeful that the people we share with tonight will be happy and it will make it a nice evening.

My nausea has eased off this week but I've had a good work week so not sure if that is helping. I hated tea last week but it's back to being my friend again now.

shinysparklythings · 08/05/2015 17:15

So I had my booking in! The midwife was lovely and we talked through everything. Height, weight, blood pressure, carbon monoxide test. Tried to take blood, but my veins weren't playing so having that done at 12 week scan. Date for 12 week scan is 27th may so only 2.5 weeks till I see bean for first time. Because my dad is type 1 diabetic I have to have the gestational diabetes test at week 26 I think. But everything fine other than that so will be midwife lead care :)

flora good luck with the house move.

jodie that's a lovely bean pic! And congrats to the others that had a scan today.

Metalhead · 08/05/2015 19:15

Congrats on all the positive scan news!

I'm 9 weeks today and have my next scan on Thursday, if everything's still looking good then I might start to believe that I'll actually be having a baby at the end of this... my nausea has been a bit better the last couple of days, it only starts to get bad around 5pm now, which would have me worried were it not for my boobs, which are still huge.

chops I hope you're managing to enjoy your holiday!

MrsMcJnr · 08/05/2015 19:34

Shiny - glad it went well. Never heard of a carbon monoxide test, is that new?

NikNak - enjoy sharing the news :)

Metalhead - I´m 9 weeks today too, still waiting for a scan to convince me it is real :)

shinysparklythings · 08/05/2015 19:40

The mw said they used to just do it for smokers, but over the last year three ladies did it and discovered faulty gas boilers/fires as a result, so do it as standard here.

Fizzie100 · 08/05/2015 21:19

Ladies - tmi I know but anyone else out there with rather a lot of discharge....clear wet type. Keep thinking it's bleeding until the all important knicker check? Sorry!

afloat · 08/05/2015 21:47

Fizzie yep on the discharge, and swift loo breaks to make sure it's not red/brown Confused

NicNak I hope you have a great evening sharing your news!

FlorIxora · 08/05/2015 22:04

Fizzie Knicker watch is much more rivetting than springwatch at our stage :)

I know what you mean, it really feels like bleeding. I'm paranoid.
I really don't like the term discharge it makes it sound like it's diseased. (iit conjures images of pus to me) Let's call it natural lubrication. (ook that's not much better). I think the production rate has seriously ramped up since being pregnant. Now I use pantyliners religiously - it also makes my new "hobby" of knicker watch much easier.

NicNak22 · 08/05/2015 22:31

Hi ladies, I told a very excited friend (who was one of my bridesmaid) and a family friend who was just ok then think I need to realise that this isn't exciting for everyone else Sad but had a very enjoyable evening. My sickness had really eased off but my friends (who have had babies) say that's not in common.

A friend on mine had her secondbaby todayso going to tell then when we meet the baby.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. X

Withalittlesparkle · 08/05/2015 22:43

Where does the time go? Seriously it doesn't feel like I've stopped for days! My sickness had slowed down but hit me tonight when I slumped on the sofa

Nik I'm late to the advice giving party, and I'm glad you've had some fun telling people. We've told a few people, mostly those who I know would support me if something goes wrong but also those who will help me through my morning sickness, friends who will help amuse DS or bring food with them when they come cus I hate having the oven on. Your baby, your body, your rules

NicNak22 · 09/05/2015 08:53

with that's my new mantra thank you x
