There goes my dinner Sad it was so tasty as well!

I wasn't all energetic and doing exercise before so I'm definitely not doing any at the moment! Way too tired for all that!

Metalhead · 30/04/2015 19:46

Thanks chops, my cold has got gradually worse today so I'm bracing myself for a bad night and another bad day tomorrow, then hopefully things will start improving by Saturday (that's usually how it goes for me). At least I haven't felt as sick today, I think the generally feeling horrible from the cold might have masked the nausea! Confused

And yes who'd have thought we'd both get our BFPs in the same month! I have been back to my old ttc threads a few times as I still want to see all the other ladies get their happy ending.

Congrats on seeing a heartbeat jebel, it's a great feeling isn't it?

BoobsTooBig · 01/05/2015 00:28

Great news jebel
Sorry for radio silence I think after my little scare I may just lye low until my scan in two weeks as from an emotional point of veiw I don't want to get attached and excited when I'm not sure if we are so good so far. Hope everyone and beans are well xx

orangemouth281 · 01/05/2015 07:19

Metal I'm with you on the cold, I feel terrible and have really bad sinus pain. Does anyone know if I can take paracetamol now? I read somewhere yesterday you can only have it from the second trimester. I don't know how I'm going to get through the day without some pain relief. I could do with staying in bed.

Hope everyone else is feeling OK today, at least it's Friday!

strawberrysundae · 01/05/2015 08:13

Hi everyone, I'm new to the thread! I'm not sure about due date, I thought it was 3rd dec as my first day of period was 26 feb, but midwife said 5th dec - confused!! Does anyone know? Not enjoying this so far, paranoid bout missed miscarriage, and put on half a stone of pure fat so far ??

shinysparklythings · 01/05/2015 08:14

Oh I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning! At least it's Friday and then a long weekend! Although I have a busy one. Girly "drinks" tonight. Of to see the tour de Yorkshire tomorrow, then a picnic on Sunday! Not quite sure how I'll cope as last night was the first time I managed to stay awake past 8pm!

Hope everyone has a good day? X x

Serenity05 · 01/05/2015 08:18

Jebel fantastic news on the scan!

afloat, have you managed to talk to your DP again? My DH was exactly the same when I was freaking out and first suggested going for a private scan. I basically told him he was being a git and it wasn't fair on me to be physically going through this major thing for 12 weeks without knowing what was happening inside me. It is a delicate balance though - it's our baby and I don't want to 'pull rank'. He is really glad we went for the scan though - not just because it calmed me down and made me less of a nightmare to live with but also it was awesome for us both to see the heartbeat and know this is real.

We Skyped my mum to tell her the news last night. She was absolutely ecstatic! My EDD is a week before she turns 60 so we asked her if she wanted another grandchild for her birthday :)

Withalittlesparkle · 01/05/2015 09:07

Hi strawberry, your correct by dates but did she adjust for cycle length?

Also with regards to weigh gain, it's unlikely to be 'pure fat' and more likely to be water retention as well

ThreeBeanRap · 01/05/2015 09:07

orangemouth I had a UTI a few weeks ago and the doctor I saw recommended paracetamol, I think it should be fine to take in the first trimester.

strawberry congrats and welcome! Looks like 3rd Dec to me too.

FlorIxora · 01/05/2015 09:14

Morning All (Evening for our Thai contingent)

Welcome Strawberry. Congratulations! I'm a good 2 weeks behind you and piling on the weight too. I have irrational moments when I envy those who can barely eat a thing. I just have mild nausea which I can manage by taking deep slow breaths and sips of water. (then I'm back ploughing through the biscuit tin, or the Gu chocolate cream pots)

Serenity That's lovely!
I plan to announce to my mum on Tuesday evening and I am wondering if I should say nothing and show her the scan over skype, say "i'm pregnant" or tell her she's going to be a grandma.

Shiny i feel your pain! Hope you get a magical boost of energy somehow.
Today I feel the most tired I have felt to date. I feel a bit teary as a result. Like a toddler who hasn't slept enough. I think I could crumble over not much today.

The cancer scare news in our family has been delayed which is frustrating.

My boobs have stopped hurting (still some tenderness in the armpit area) which is making me worried. I am learning that early pregnancy is just a long string of worries.

The plans for the long weekend are to do loads of work on Saturday, see BFF on Sunday for lunch (not announcing yet), crash on the sofa and not move a finger on Monday.

What are your plans?

chopsface · 01/05/2015 09:26

Luckily when I said to dh about booking an early scan he said I could do what I liked coz its my body! So I booked it! Of course 12 is far too long to worry in my opinion!

I've heard symptoms come and go so I wouldn't worry yet. Nothing has even happened to my boobs!

Mega tired today and am on the 'late shift' but that didn't mean a lie in as I was eating shreddies in bed at 6.15am to stave off nausea!

edinburghdancer · 01/05/2015 09:57

Jebel thanks for that re-assurance. I'm still worried but less so now. Great to hear about your scan and that all is going well.

Metal and orange - I'm thinking we're all getting the cold. Mine is all in my sinuses as well. I'm having to 'fake' taking sudafed at work so my well meaning colleagues don't give me some of their lemsip! I've been told by the IVF clinic paracetemol is OK but I'd rather just bear it.

Thank crunchie it's the Friday of a long weekend. Babysitting duties tomorrow night and then sleep until back to work on Tuesday!

ThreeBeanRap · 01/05/2015 10:03

What did you all do/have you done about telling work?

My booking appointment is in the middle of the day and my office is an hour away from home, so I'll have to work from home at least for the afternoon. I should have a scan around the same sort of time so will need more time off. I don't want to keep making things up and lying to my boss but am worried about telling work too early and something going wrong…

Jcandy · 01/05/2015 10:23

Three bean I told my manager and she said absolutely I have that time off in work time as my appointment is the same. If anything happens then you'll probably need time off anyway so it would be good for them to understand. Is there just one person you can tell who can authorise it and then be sworn to secrecy?

Metalhead · 01/05/2015 10:29

orange paracetamol is safe to take during all of pregnancy, it's the NSAIDs like ibuprofen that you're only allowed in some trimesters. You can look it up on the NHS website.

threebean I usually just tell my manger I've got a hospital appointment, he never asks what it's for.

ThreeBeanRap · 01/05/2015 10:42

jcandy I can tell my line manager who can authorise it and will be nice about it all but I feel really nervous about it! I don't know if I should wait til nearer the time...the appointment is 2 weeks today but I'll need to give him some notice.

FlorIxora · 01/05/2015 10:46

ThreeBean I have a "dentist" appointment on Tuesday afternoon. If the "dentist" is all good news and I still feel and look as crap as I do now, I'll be telling my boss. I really look drug-adled at the moment and i think people must think I am getting drunk a lot. My boss will need time to find my maternity cover anyway. (I'm that special Grin)

abi2790 · 01/05/2015 11:00

Good morning ladies.

I swear I'm getting baby brain already! My memory is all over the place!

Nausea is on and off today. Both my boobs are hurting today and they've got to the veiny stage, ugh!

edinburghdancer · 01/05/2015 11:16

OMG - I've had to pee 8 times since I got into work this morning. I'm having to print things so people don't notice that I've been away from my desk hiding in the toilets 8 times in the last 3 hours.

I've told my boss but only because I had to tell her so I could get time off for IVF appointments, so she knew we had a results appt and asked. I've not officially told her though - no formal notice given to work or forms submitted. Don't need to do that for weeks but it makes it easier to get time to work from home.

ThreeBeanRap · 01/05/2015 11:23

We just had a meeting about something else and I was going to tell him and then completely bottled it and just said I had a doctor's appointment and would need to work from home that afternoon - he said fine and didn't ask any questions. Think he may suspect though!

edinburgh poor you! Hope you're drinking enough water to keep up!

afloat · 01/05/2015 11:43

serenity we talked it over yesterday and he says he's actually fine with going for a scan if I want. We definitely have communication issues! I think he was just grumpy with me for an unrelated issue so responded to my suggestion "what about x?" with "here are all the reasons we don't need x" Hmm

So I booked a scan for May 11th, a week on Monday, woooot!

Also good news that my best friend, who had a mc last year, is also pg. SO HAPPY!

threebean, I'm lucky that we're not "watched" all that much, come and go as we please (my boss doesn't even really know when I'm on leave) so I can just sneak out to the scan (and work from home on days I'm feeling really cr*p).

edinburgh that's one of the few pregnancy symptoms I think I've not had!

I've just read a book about all this new research that's saying how much of people's health, wellbeing etc, is determined by the "antenatal environment". I'm trying not to feel anxious about my eating or exercise, or being in bad air quality....

ThreeBeanRap · 01/05/2015 11:48

afloat lucky you, that sounds great! My work is pretty relaxed really but I'm in a small team and it's definitely noticeable when one of us isn't here. I think I'm just going to keep schtum til I get my scan date, see when that is and if it's near the booking appt maybe come clean.

abi2790 · 01/05/2015 11:54

Afloat congrats to your friend!

Sorry if tmi but is anyone getting really watery discharge? It's horrible! I keep thinking I'm either bleeding or I've wet myself. I got out of the bath the other night and literally felt like I was weeing! It's not a funny colour though or smelly so I'm assuming it's normal? I've had lots of discharge since ovulation so I know thats normal just a bit worried about how excessive and watery it's getting!

afloat · 01/05/2015 12:31

abi, if it's any consolation I have noticed the same thing, but not as much as you by the way it sounds.
