Chandlers Thank you for the excellent advice. ThreeBean I have told her about having the IUD removed and that we were going to see how things went.

I would have loved to have "waited" for her. But I had no idea about my own fertility. The one thing I have never told any of my friends is just quite how much I have wanted a child.

So I POASed last night and the CBD has finally advanced to 3+ weeks. (I know it's terrible - couldn't help myself).

Magickal Welcome. What's your EDD?

Magickal · 29/04/2015 08:23

Thank you. I reckon my EDD is 25th dec. I have a 9yr old. This was a massive surprise. I've not had a baby in the UK so I have no idea what to do. Do I make gp apt? Confused

Will catch up on thread after work.

afloat · 29/04/2015 08:30

Welcome Magic! I hope it's good news for you. You can make a GP appointment and if you want you can usually self-refer to a hospital for ante natal care. I am not registered at a local doctor so went for the latter option. I'll have a booking appointment at 8wks and a scan at 12wks.

Magickal · 29/04/2015 09:03

Right, have made GP apt for next week. No idea how to self-refer for ante-natal care, despite having googled. This all feels new and overwhelming. I want to tell everybody but I need to process it all myself. Did a second test this morning just to be sure.

It IS good news but my situation is far from ideal so it will take a bit of getting used to. I'm excited though!

Magickal · 29/04/2015 09:08

And also, when will my boobs stop hurting? They've been really painful for 3 weeks. Plus the period pains and the exhaustion... I thought I was really ill!

ThreeBeanRap · 29/04/2015 09:15

flor if she already knows it's a possibility I'd say send her a message saying could you meet up as you have some news - then she will be prepared for it. Hope it all goes well.

abi2790 · 29/04/2015 10:48

Morning ladies.

So it wasn't my booking in today just a quick form filling appointment with the midwife. My booking in is on 14th May but I'm glad to have seen the midwife today, I actually feel pregnant now!

Metalhead · 29/04/2015 11:01

I've just booked my private 10 week scan for 14th May - two weeks and one day to go! Meanwhile I'm trying not to worry that I'm feeling every so slightly less nauseous today...

chopsface · 29/04/2015 12:22

Either these sea sickness wrist bands are great stuff, or there is something wrong Confused

Welcome newbies!

majick I take it you didn't feel this ill with your 9 year old? Or your body forgot Wink I don't think everyone needs to self refer. I called the GP when I got my bfp and they said I needed to pick up a form from reception, fill it in and post it off to the midwives. Then they send out an appointment. Everyone seems to have a different story though!

abi2790 · 29/04/2015 13:08

My legs feel like jelly today Sad I was saying to my midwife earlier that I woke up panicking because all my symptoms had gone (including sore boob) but then BAM! Now I feel like crap! Weird how symptoms come and go like that.

afloat · 29/04/2015 13:14

abi I'm delighted my symptoms have disappeared today. Pregnancy has been playing a really mean trick on me, making me simultaneously starving and repulsed by food.

Magickal · 29/04/2015 13:34

It was so long ago that I had DS, I don't remember much. I didn't find out til I was 12 weeks anyway so didn't really experience these early days. I did feel VERY sick and sensitive to smells... to the point that I was convinced something had died in the flat and we MUST move immediately.

WaitingForEgg · 29/04/2015 14:36

A few developments my end!
Booked my private early scan for 11th May, should be 8 weeks on the nose, so so excited!
Also told my uni I am pregnant (I needed to for risk assessments for lab etc) and the were so so lovely. Really supportive and approachable, I feel like such a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
Chops I have always found sea sickness bands really effective so you may be the same

FlorIxora · 29/04/2015 14:49

I am so uncomfortable and bloated today and super irritable. It is taking all I have to not run out of the office and buy something really shapeless and comfy from Gap.

Is insurmountable irritability a valid reason to take time off? Wink

ChandlersFarang · 29/04/2015 14:54

Hahaha Flor I specifically wandered in to Zara on my lunch break to find a giant shapeless sack that I could move in to for the next few weeks until I can legitimately get maternity clothes but didn't find anything!

FlorIxora · 29/04/2015 14:56

Gap are the masters at shapeless and comfy. I have a classical concert tonight. I am predicting I'll be wearing a moomoo and my converse. All about the class and the elegance...

abi2790 · 29/04/2015 14:56

Afloat I know exactly what you mean! I am constantly starving but the thought of most foods is making me gag! But then the more hungry I am the more sick I feel! It's not fair!

Is anybody really thirsty all the time?

ChandlersFarang · 29/04/2015 15:00

Magik this must be a totally mad headfuck!! but glad you're happy about it GrinGrin And to answer your question my bbs haven't stopped hurting since I was 11DPO - am now 6+4 and they make me wince every time I accidentally touch them on anything!

WaitingForEgg · 29/04/2015 15:19

Chandlers mine are the same, I have to take a deep breath to take my bra off!

AmberLav · 29/04/2015 15:26

Hello, I have been lurking for a little while, as I have a general phobia of joining these groups till after the 12 week scan, but I figure I cant keep lurking forever!

It will be my 3rd child, I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old (I'm typing this as I'm waiting for the 2 year old to stop snoring and wake up!), and I'm 36, and in London.

The due date is 18th December, so I'm 6+5 today. But worried that I'm not feeling more poorly, but that is just standard pregnancy worry (we had a 6-8 week miscarriage before my eldest).

I found sea sickness bands to be a life saver both times before, I just wish they'd come in better designs!

chopsface · 29/04/2015 15:30

Yup afloat I'm also starving and repulsed simultaneously!

Everyone is talking about bloated bellies and massive boobs.... My boobs are fine and I'm still in leggings! I have also lost a kilo over the 2 weeks since I got my bfp :-( Got a GP phone call later tonight to ask about being ok to fly. Might mention the weight loss.

AmberLav · 29/04/2015 15:32

abi if you can, try to keep some food in your stpmach at all times, no matter how little you want to, and try to get as much sleep as possible - hunger and tiredness are the two most common triggers for morning sickness...

and so sorry to hear about the losses, knowing that is common never makes it easier. Hope everyone in that situation gets plenty of love... xxx

Metalhead · 29/04/2015 15:45

abi I was really thirsty for the first two weeks or so after I got my BFP, but it seems to have settled down now (or been replaced by constant hunger...).

I wouldn't worry about the weight loss chops, unless you were quite underweight to begin with. I weighed myself this morning and was surprised to find I haven't put on much yet (maybe 1-2 pounds) despite stuffing my face all day. I think you use a lot more energy than you think in these first few weeks! And you should be fine to fly as far as I know.

FlorIxora · 29/04/2015 15:50

Chops A friend lost 4 kilos in 1st trimester. She was fine, she caught up afterwards. she just couldn't bear eating meat. You can have one of my kilos if you want Smile

Welcome AmberLav.

Magickal · 29/04/2015 16:02

Oh no... I was hoping people would say boobs were better! Ugh! I hadn't realised how often I bump them. I am going to have to sleep in a bra tonight & I've never done that before, even when I was BF DS.

I am meant to be going out for afternoon tea at the weekend. Just been texted to say the other people will drive so I can have a drink! Not going to tell anyone til I've got my head round all this and seen dr so I will have to make an excuse not to drink without drawing attention to it.

Also, my mum is taking me shopping on Friday to buy me some summer clothes (christmas present) so that's a bit awkward to.

I don't like sneaking about!
