Christmas and new years babies thread!

CuppaSarah · 19/04/2015 10:41

Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

Fair enough. Yes, there are some great sales on at the moment. I got a few bits in bigger sizes from 'normal' ranges too.

HopeItComesLate · 14/07/2015 10:05

glitter I completely agree with the limbo thing. It's taking all my willpower not to buy a fetal heart monitor to calm me down but I just keep reminding myself that before I know it I'll have a real bump and be able to feel the baby and won't need a heart monitor to prove somethings in there.

SweepTheHalls · 14/07/2015 21:23

OMG, today I got really fat! All of a sudden my boobs are huge and I have a proper bump! I told the boys today that the baby can hear them! They were adorable chatting away to it Grin

NoArmaniNoPunani · 14/07/2015 22:15

We had our sex scan today, it's a boy :)

Queazy · 15/07/2015 05:30

Huge congrats NoArmani! How exciting Smile

Gillster · 15/07/2015 06:21

Congrats Armani, looks like you were spot on with your hunch.

CuppaSarah · 15/07/2015 06:24

Congratulations NoArmarni! Two for team blue Grin

Gillster, I totally know what you mean about limbo. Really excited about my modwivr appointment today, but at the sane time, once its done that's it till the 20 week scan. Which is a long wait!

Sweep that's absolutely lovely! It must be amazing having them be so excited. Dd is not overly thrilled about the idea yet. But she progressed from saying 'bye bye baby' in an annoiyed way, to calling it Mia and trying to poke her. When the baby pokes back in a few months she'll be horrified Grin.

I know what you mean about the long wait for the 20 week scan, you could always break it up with a trip to baby bond!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 15/07/2015 09:15

Does anyone know if we can get privately tested for group B strep? I only heard about it through an online petition asking for the NHS to test routinely.

Tangoandcreditcards · 15/07/2015 09:31

Woohoo noarmani - another boy. I feel like this increases MY chances of a girl. Grin First of all I was wanting the "known quantity" of a boy, now I'm getting very attached to the girl's name I have chosen (OK, so it's the 3rd one we've picked in the last 6 weeks). I shall steadfastly remain team yellow, mainly due to stubbornness...

Jeepers, it's still over a month until my 20 wk scan. TEDIOUS.

I'm fairly obvious bump-wise now and everyone at work knows. Which means I have to put up with people asking me how I am all the time. I'm sure they don't normally bother. I'm such a grumpy old git.

That's so cute sweep, at 17mo DS doesn't quite understand, he does like showing me his tummy all the time though... I think he's being a bit cheeky myself.

Ahemily · 15/07/2015 09:37

Congrats noarmani! Mine is on Friday and I'm also thinking it'll be another for the blue team!

I'm due on Christmas Eve and know exactly what you all mean about feeling in limbo, it still seems a long way off!

Gillster, sorry to be a pain in the arse, but can I get in on your spreadsheet action? Grin

Tonijo55 · 15/07/2015 11:52

Hi everyone i think i have come onto this a little late but thought i would jump on and say hi :) im due my christmas baby 18th december which we found out on saturday is a little boy team blue ð???ð???ð???

Ahemily · 15/07/2015 11:58

Congrats Tonjo!

Tonijo55 · 15/07/2015 13:12

thank you ahemily ð???

CuppaSarah · 15/07/2015 16:12

Welcome Tonijo! We are looking to have a very blue Christmas this year!

We heard the heartbeat today which was lovely, we also heard baby squiggling round doing her thing. I was certain we were having a girl, but the heartbeat was slower than it was with my daughter. Slower heart rate implies a boy I am told!

Starting to get knackered at work now. Been put back on tools this week and I just can't do it. Will call my boss to discuss tomorrow, feel like such a wuss especially with everyone calling me a part timer. I know it's just banter but I'm oversensitive at the moment. Just sick of work mucking me about.

Im glad to see all the 'blue' love on here, its been the only place where anybody has said anything nice about it being another boy

CuppaSarah · 15/07/2015 16:30

Well those people who don't think having a house full of boys is lovely can shove it right up their chimneys OhHoly. My Mums dp has 3 boys and it looks bloody good fun from where I'm sitting.

But obviously no ones life is complete without, a son, daughter, dog and a semi detached house in the suburbs Hmm

Tonijo55 · 15/07/2015 16:52

thank you cuppasarah :) im so excited for christmas even more now and its my birthday in december too...

its so amazing hearing the heartbeat my little boys was so fast i had to ask if it was normal she said it was but he was very very lazy on the scan he had his back to us and was not turning around for nothing we got a little stretch and yawn thats about it Grin x

SweepTheHalls · 15/07/2015 17:09

Congratulations to everyone who has found out what sex they are having Grin. My 20 week scan isn't until 22 weeks because of holidays which seems forever away!

MazyCrummy · 15/07/2015 17:14

Hi everyone!

Just been catching up... congrats tonjo and noarmani! I've got a house full atm - mostly boys (x3) and a lone bossy madam. I'm guessing this one's pink but DH in the blue camp.

We heard the heartbeat today at my 16w midwife appointment - nice to check there's still a baby in there and not just the Ginster's pasties I keep eating for brunch at my desk Grin
Midwife is guessing pink bump based on heart rate...

Gillster, love the spreadsheet, thanks. I'm 37, guessing girl, 20w scan on 14/8 for my missing facts. Smile

We've had a vague version of the finances chat. I'm the higher earner for us too and I'll probably take about 4-5 months depending on when new work becomes available (I'm freelance). We're also trying to work out whether we'll live to regret claiming tax credits for the weeks I'm only earning MA. We seem to be entitled to but I've been bitten before where they give us money when we are entitled and then ask for it all back in the next tax year. Confused

SweepTheHalls · 15/07/2015 17:44

Just bought my first baby related item Grin A lovely Radley change bag from eBay Star

OhHolyFuck · 15/07/2015 17:59

Thanks cuppa, I've actually been a bit down about it which is silly really but it's just not nice to announce "it's a boy!" and everyone go "oh, another?" or "I was hoping it'd be a girl" or just change the subject

CuppaSarah · 15/07/2015 18:03

I totally get it OhHoly, I've seen it happen to other people. It's so bloody stupid, firstly because any baby is a blessing and will be loved regardless of their sex. Secondly because imagine if someone was dealing gender disappointment and feeling really guilty? Way to rub it in. Anyone who has anything but good things to say needs to shut up and go home.

Sweep that sounds lovely! What's it like?

SweepTheHalls · 15/07/2015 18:23

Beautiful! Soft leather, doesn't look like a change bag and an absolute bargain!
Everyone assumes that we want a girl as we have 2 boys........ but it would be so much easier to have another boy!

Tangoandcreditcards · 15/07/2015 19:06

Hoorah for heartbeats and bags! Hormones + credit card + internet connection is getting dangerous. I've been browsing baby clothes like a lunatic (a newborn R2-D2 outfit is unisex, right?).

queazyI enquired about the NCT refresher course in the end and its £140. Feels like money I'd rather spend on bags and dinky outfits; and then just hang around the local children's centre trying to make friends for free... I'm so tight.
