joy I thought each car seat manufacturer had different bases to be honest. Isofix is the standard for fitting the base to the car not the car seat to the base IYSWIM. But it's not something I've ever looked into so I could be wrong. But it would make sense as maxi cosi have different bases for different car seats (e.g. family fix vs easy fix) which must be different and fit different seats but all are isofix.

Zampa · 15/04/2015 17:46

I think Nature is right with regards to the ISOfix bases Joy. The seat fitting to the base (which varies from seat to seat) is different from the base fitting to the ISOfix points in the car.

broodylicious · 15/04/2015 19:38

Yeah I think each manufacturers isofix base will be for their brand of seat only, and maybe only certain seats even then. We had the easy fix base with the cabriofix last time - it meant we didn't need to be tied down to getting another maxi cosi when we went up a stage, whereas with the family fix, we'd have felt obligated because of the higher price. Something else to think about Wink

Yes, jen, our poly was picked up at the 20 week scan. I was then measured quite closely by my mw and had an extra scan at 34 weeks to check that and position of my placenta as it'd previously been low lying. I was worried about it - probably spent too much time consulting dr google - but I was pleased it had been discovered and monitored, even though everything was fine in the end.

Baby doing humungous kicks right down near my bits at the mo. It is his/her party time at this time of day but it does still take me by surprise!

Ha! Thanks nature and zampa will ask them at the store when we are ready to buy the base, I was just curious.

Fattycow · 15/04/2015 20:14

Postnatal care appointment was good. Didn't learn anything new, but the lady had a few questions and things she needed to know. So once I have the baby, the company is up to date with our situation and care wishes. Smile

joy, from looking briefly, I think you can only fit a maxicosi seat to a maxicosi isofix base but I may be wrong.

My understanding about isofix bases is the same as yours broody & nature. We bought a Britax car seat and a Britax base.

Broody the local NHS antenatal classes are in the end why I decided against NCT. I wanted to do NCT, but the cost seemed a lot when the NHS were offering 8 hours of classes.

This baby has clearly gained some weight and got some real power behind is kicks, I've been pummelled these last few days! Smile

charlieis30 · 16/04/2015 09:23

Only 26 weeks today but starting to get third-trimester blues. Have suddenly realised that I can't keep up my normal pace - I have to walk slower or I get breathless, have to remember to get up slowly so my sore stomach & back muscles don't stretch any more than they are right now, etc etc.
Also a bit down in the dumps re the weight gain - I've struggled with my weight my whole life so watching the scales go past my "scary numbers" is making me unexpectedly grumpy. I know I should be incredibly grateful to be here after my miscarriages but it's amazing how easy it is to still get bogged down in negative thoughts sometimes, isn't it?!
I've been buying the weirdest things - like fabric (for some planet where I'll lovingly handmake the baby's cot sheets, so unlikely to ever actually happen!) but I still haven't bought the cotbed!
Argh. Just want to go back to bed today. Can we have yesterday's weather back, please?

charlieis30 · 16/04/2015 09:26

Oh and my 2 pence re the whooping cough vaccination - I'm absolutely going to get it, a 7 week old baby died in Australia in the last couple of months because they don't routinely vaccinate the preg women there, and the baby was still too young to be vaccinated themself. Some idiot hadn't vaccinated their kid so it spread. With all this anti-vax crap going round it's so important to me to make sure I and my kid are fully vaccinated as much as humanly possible.
puts back soapbox

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 09:37

Charlie I'm all for vaccination, but I've been told that because I've not been exposed to WC the booster will have little/no effect for me and baby? Really need to speak to a Dr about it before I make my mind up because I'm petrified of needles which doesn't help. Must admit I declined the flu vaccine as it's not flu season, and also I had never had flu before I was given the vaccine with ds, I was ill for over 2 months constantly back and forward to Drs :(

broodylicious · 16/04/2015 09:43

Hugs charlie xx completely understand where you're coming from hun. Know it's not much consolation in RL but I understand xx totally agree on wc jab.

must, the wc vaccine is not a booster jab for you. It's to cover your baby when they're born and until their first set of vax. There should be info online about it somewhere.

Sorry if i've given incorrect info on the car seat, that was just my understanding of it - best to check instore to be double safe, and they do recommend you check ALL car seats first to make sure they fit in your car.

Not feeling too happy today, my left foot is swollen and my bp was a bit high (140/80) although went down to 126/74 at the lowest. I have been told to call the hosp and speak to them.

Charliej86 · 16/04/2015 09:59

I'm feeling a little bad mam today. DD has asked OH if we can have a mini camping/caravan holiday for her birthday. We don't like to say no to things like that it memories rather than material things, but her birthday is just 2 days before due date and I just don't think I'll be able to do it before. And don't really want to take a baby away so soon. I'm not denying her a holiday, we've just had 2 days at seaside and off to Spain in 3 weeks. She also usually goes away with paternal grand parents for a week so she's not hard done to I just hate saying no.

Add that on to feeling very big and having a poorly tummy it's not a great day.

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 10:12

Broody it's a booster that they give you, not the actual immunisation against WC, which is why I had been told it would have no effect for either of us as there is nothing to boost iyswim? I really think it's important but i think I need to talk to Dr to get the full picture before I make up my mind.

Naturegirl82 · 16/04/2015 11:18

Must I thought it was the actual vaccination against whopping cough that you are given. I wasn't asked if I had been given the jab before when I had it in my last pregnancy so don't think they would have known if I had been given it before or not but it was still recommended to have it. Was it a MW that said it's the booster and there wouldn't be any benefit?

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 11:23

Its the same as the pre-school booster, and i asked midwife yesterday while on phone and she admitted she has no idea if it will work for me with me having no definite exposure to WC

Naturegirl82 · 16/04/2015 11:40

But would your body not produce antibodies to the vaccine regardless of whether you've had it or not before and these would then provide some protection for your baby? I'm just curious and procrastinating at work!

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 11:42

Not a clue, I'm really curious too, booked my phone consultation with Dr for tomorrow morning so will let you know what gets said! Although I shouldn't really take what my model says as gospel as she was convinced that my rhesus status could have changed since last preg (since found out that rh pos cannot turn into rh neg)

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 11:43

Midwife not model :/ xxx

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 11:44

Argh how do you turn predictive text off on an iPhone?! Sick of kisses popping up left right and centre lol

Naturegirl82 · 16/04/2015 11:51

Haha that's quite a compliment to your midwife though! Grin

It would be interesting to know what they say.

Rhesus status is a wierd one. I've seen some posts on the pg boards where people have been told they are negative only to test positive later on. must have some wierd chimera!! Or a false test!!

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 11:53

In all honestly she doesn't know if she's coming or going and in a way I feel bad for being annoyed at her! She's covering 5 surgeries in our area and has a lot of women to get to know which in a way worries me as she has confused me for another mum twice, asking about my prem labours Confused God knows what goes on with rh then, I'm convinced pregnant mums never get a straight answer lol

JoY007 · 16/04/2015 13:01

Hello ladies, thanks number and broody for the car seat base info. I will ask in store. I was updating my spreadsheet and wanted to plug in some costs then I realised that oops different bases Smile hence my curiousity.

I felt tired today as well, so skipped my morning spin class and came to work later. My belly is big now despite that a lady sat in the priority seat and never offered me a seat Confused. I was standing opposite her. It was not until a man that was standing asked another man that please give up your seat for the lady. That said I could sense reluctance. People are very funny, I was never like that, was too eager to give up my seat for a pregnant lady. Perils of London commutingGrin

I am doing the NHS ante natal classes as well, I was put off by the cost of NCT.

Fattycow · 16/04/2015 13:06

I just came home from the midwife. Baby has been very quiet for a few days and hadn't felt anything today. So she did a scan and turns out baby is happily dancing away, but s/he manages to kick me at the exact spot where my placenta is thickest and not with loads of force, hence me not feeling it. We actually saw a good number of kick and the placenta cushioning it. As soon as baby turns a bit, I will feel it again. Of if s/he decides to put some real force behind it.

MustBeLoopy390 · 16/04/2015 13:08

Brill news Fattyc, hope baby turns soon for you :)
JoY some people are funny towards pregnant women, always makes me wonder what they were like if/when they/their partners were expecting
