Nature I had heard of verity but not the book, shall be getting that one :)
Are thank you, feeling a bit better today after a good chat with dh, he always knows what to say bless him :)

MrsFbabyNo1 · 14/04/2015 21:45

After dinner and a bit of tidying round so the house is clutter free for my mum to house sit (the cat), then finished packing and showering and painting nails, there had been no time - it's all still in boxes put aside in the downstairs loo! Will be a nice treat for us to open when we get back.

Up at 5am odd tomorrow so hope I zonk out and don't wake up lots. Looking forward to simply chilling out and I'm taking a hypnobirthing book and Dr William Sears attachment parenting book to read. I bet they'll be hundreds of posts for me to catch up on when back! Smile

Sherbet38 · 14/04/2015 22:21

That's very restrained mrsF! How lovely to have your pram already. Ours will be ready to pick up along with the car seat on early June, I can't wait! We've ordered an isofix base for the car seat today, so that's another thing ticked off the list.

My whooping cough vaccination is booked for next week, I'll be 28+4. It's the day after my next midwife apt, which is a bit irritating, but the midwife only goes to the surgery one day a week and they couldn't fit the wc in on the same day. Can't complain though, I can't fault the appointments/communication over had, such as shame a good service isn't consistent across health areas.

I've booked onto the NHS antenatal classes now. I'm quite impressed, I can attend 3 two hour classes (labour, birth & new baby), a 2 hour breast feeding class and a tour of the midwifery unit. They're all outside of normal office hours too!

Jenbird5891 · 14/04/2015 22:47

I'm having gtt done on Thursday, consultant wanted it doing as last scan showed increased amniotic fluid around one of the twins plus my dad has type 2 diabetes. Having twins increases risk of GD so best to know if it's there. Count yourselves lucky if not having it I have no idea how I'll cope not eating as I get anxious and funny about all hospital visits let alone on an empty stomach! Confused

Fattycow · 14/04/2015 22:47

Over here, they do a blood test very early on (right after first midwife appointment, so at 9 weeks for me) to test your iron and your sugar on a empty stomach. Those were both fine for me.
At my next midwife appointment, I'll be 30+4 and she will do a finger prick iron test. No mentioning of sugars at all, only the test at 9 weeks. I do know two ladies with pregnancy diabetes though.

Fattycow · 14/04/2015 22:48

I find it really interesting to see how different things are in different countries!

Aretepetite · 14/04/2015 23:07

Hope you and MrF have an amazing time MrsF

broodylicious · 15/04/2015 07:56

Wow sherbert, that sounds brill re the nhs antenatal classes. I don't think they do them round here at all. We did NCT last time anyway.

mrsf, have a fantastic holiday. Not at all jealous.

jen, they thought I'd got polyhydramnios (too much fluid) with dd. I got myself into a bit of a panic because of the talk of consultant paediatricians being at the birth, tubes to clear airways etc... But there was absolutely no more fluid than there should've been! Fx it's just the same for your bubs too xx

The postnatal care lady is coming this afternoon for the intake. My house is a mess, but my pelvis hurts a lot, so sod it. I'm sure she will have been to a million households already where the mum to be was suffering and couldn't keep up with chores, so who cares?

Number3cometome · 15/04/2015 09:52

Morning ladies, anyone else feel like their baby is literally all over the place in their belly?

Mine has been head down for every scan and positioned on the right, but I feel like I can feel movement on the left and right when he wiggles about.

It's lovely, like waves of movement. You can certainly see the shape of something now, maybe a knee or something.

It's so nice when you wake up and feel it

Fattycow · 15/04/2015 09:58

Mine has been very quiet yesterday, but I got a few nudges. Still quiet today, but it is very early still, dancing around is usually much later in the day. I'm not worried yet, but if s/he doesn't do a dance tonight, I'm calling the midwife to check up.

MustBeLoopy390 · 15/04/2015 11:49

My little man feels quite far down when he moves. Getting slight pressure while walking but it's probably because of how far I walk rather than anything else. I've noticed he's more active during the night but getting a fair few wiggles during day. He's got a little bit of a pattern but I think he moves more (anterior placenta)

Fattycow · 15/04/2015 12:04

I got a few nudges earlier, but nothing like they usually are. I expect baby is just being lazy.

MustBeLoopy390 · 15/04/2015 12:44

Could be a lazy day, all 3 of mine have had times where I've panicked and as soon as I was on the monitors/as soon as I lied down and had a cold drink it was like they were having a rave in there!

Number3cometome · 15/04/2015 13:19

Fatty had a day like that last week, nothing at all until the afternoon, then a flurry of movement! To say I was worrying for a while was an understatement!

beno57 · 15/04/2015 13:34

Is anyone else getting the return of tiredness? think my 2nd trimester energy surge is over! oh and my hormones seems to be all over the place again!

I'm 29 weeks now and my movements are now much more regular, increasing daily. It hasn't stopped squirming all day. Previously day time movements were limited.

Zampa · 15/04/2015 13:39

I'm constantly tired beno especially mid afternoon. Think it's a combination of growing another person and not sleeping properly. I've no idea how those with DCs already can cope. Love how you're advised to take naps as a solution. Not sure that would go down well in the office! I'm finishing work at 38+1 but doing 4 day weeks throughout June in an attempt to deal with this issue.

beno57 · 15/04/2015 13:52

yeah I'm doing 4 day weeks from end of April the bank hols in May help! working up to 37+4, hoping I will still be ok! 8 weeks and counting!

Jenbird5891 · 15/04/2015 13:59

Hi broody thanks for that. Did they measure it on ultrasound with u? It was picked up at last scan 24 weeks and get next scan tomorrow so they will review then. Consultant was not concerned last time as level was only slightly increased. I know it's more common with twins but it's natural to worry when they see these things! Hopefully it's just one of those things - and doesn't indicate a problem. I've been googling( shouldn't I know!) and lots of ppl say that baby was healthy despite higher fluid level. Nothing I can do to change it anyway! At least they are monitoring it xx

Thepurplegiraffe · 15/04/2015 15:30

Hi all. Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather. I have had a midwife appointment and a doctor's appointment today as I need a fit to fly note. My bp was different in both appointments as was my bump measurement, one was spot on for weeks and the other a bit small. So goes to show we shouldn't be worrying about small differences too much.
I am still totally disorganised, I have bought nothing but1 baby gro and no sign of the buggy being ordered. Maybe I should start getting more on top of things...

JoY007 · 15/04/2015 16:32

Hello Everyone - so excited about the weather and the need to not bend over to wear tights and boots whoop whoop. I managed this pregnancy without buying maternity tights and maternity winter coat Grin

Question for 2nd time mums or those in the know Grin, regarding the isofix base, do you have to get the same brand base as your car seat?

We got a Besafe car seat, but researching isofix base and came across the maxi cosi family base that lasts up until 4 years, which of course is better value than getting just a Group 0+ car seat. Any thoughts? Just curious.. Thank you xx

Number3cometome · 15/04/2015 16:40

Joy I thought the Isofix fitted all makes that are Isofix compatible?

Bought a car seat today! First big purchase, only because it was in the sale.

Other than that, have bought a handful of clothes. Need to get cracking really with the shopping.

Did have to buy new bras today, these things are growing at a rapid rate!

JoY007 · 15/04/2015 17:07

Hi Number thank you, thought as much as well but was not sure, will be rather daft if otherwise but that said I don't trust manufacturers Grin

JoY007 · 15/04/2015 17:07

Hi Jenbird just read your post, my fluid was a bit above normal too. However I mentioned to my Mum who is a Doctor (Opthalmologist) practising for over 30 years and she said when she had my brother the amniotic fluid that came with him had the midwives scream Smile. My mum is 63, she said its not necessarily cause for concern, and it's only because they are being overly cautious. Speaking to another friend who had the same, her boy is very fine Grin just a big boy.
stay away from Dr google lol! I did the same thing on Monday and it just made me cry and guilty that it was my fault.

My GTT result not back yet no news is good news I hope.

fattymcfatfat · 15/04/2015 17:18

I had my GTT Today hopefully it comes back ok but that drink was nasty and I felt quite lightheaded but that is probably due to lack of sleep
