Jmojo it's called Spatone or you can try floridex.

She said drink in orange juice as that helps absorption. Also that when eating iron foods you shouldn't have dairy for half an hour after as they inhibit absorption

jmojo · 28/04/2015 19:10

Joy I think the above post from LaLa is for you, also so you know dried apricots contain way more iron than spinach something like 6x more! Easier to snack on too!

broodylicious · 28/04/2015 19:32

Thanks lala for the iron info. If only I could get some orange juice down me - still making me sick.

Spa day. Heaven. Loved it. Defo recommend it!

Ah yes sorry got my j's confused!

Naty1 · 28/04/2015 19:48

I have a lot of hair loss normally (possibly my hypothyroidism) but have very thick hair anyway.

Zampa · 28/04/2015 20:09

The spa in Newmarket is at the Bedford Lodge Hotel small.

Charlie I flew today and not one question about my bump from the Easy Jet staff.

fattymcfatfat · 28/04/2015 20:25

had my 28 week appointment today. bump is measuring on the 90th centile! I knew I was big (growth chart 50th centile says expected weight would be 9lb)

Charliej86 · 28/04/2015 21:10

Mrsf I think it's just from scans, they took a few measurements n came up with a weight. I guessed he was on big side when nurse asked sizes of previous baby's. I googled average weight and found 2lbs 2oz so deffo expecting a big boy.

Fattycow · 28/04/2015 23:02

I had a midwife appointment today. Baby is head down and on the right side, just as I thought. No idea which centile my bump is on, as I don't think they measure like that. But the heartbeat was nice and strong! Smile My iron was okay as well at 6.8. It is not measured the same way as it is in the UK, so a level of 6.8 is perfectly fine. Only 9.5 weeks until I'm due! Shock

Naturegirl82 · 29/04/2015 08:51

fattymc how do they determine what centile your bump is on? Surely a bump that measures on the 50th centile (which would be average) would predict an average size baby rather than a 9lb baby which is above average?

fattymcfatfat · 29/04/2015 09:00

they have worked mine off scan size and weight of previous babies as this is number 3. if it was my first then it would probably be average but as I said, number 3 so they are going off previous weights aswell, plus my weight and size of baby on scan. it is all personalised to take all that into consideration.

beyondtheborder · 29/04/2015 09:04

Finally caught up on the thread again! Anyone else with gestational diabetes :( its not much fun!

27 week scan here had baby's belly off the scale (which is due to the GD) and weighing 3lb odd! On my personal grow chart measurements are over 90th centile - having said that I am petite (and DP 6ft1) and was told my measurements here would be normal on someone else's scale. Bit confusing really. GD diagnosed at 26 weeks so hopefully belly will even out now that it is managed.

Naturegirl82 · 29/04/2015 09:09

That's interesting fattymc. Are you having growth scans or is it based on your 20 week scan? I think this one is going to be a big baby. My bump with DD always measured spot on and she was 9lb. This time I'm measuring 2cms ahead at the moment!!

fattymcfatfat · 29/04/2015 09:38

they based it on my 12 wweek scan as that is when they stuck it in my notes! my DD was expected to reach 9lb but she stopped growing in the last couple of weeks. so only made it to 7 lb 10 so it could be entirely wrong!

Number3cometome · 29/04/2015 10:24

I'm the same as fatty! My 50th centile line makes just under 9lb, our lines are generated on the weight of previous babies (mine were 9lb at 40 weeks, and 8lb 2oz at 37-38 weeks)

I wouldn't take any notice of the measurements by the midwife, three weeks ago I was measuring 25cm, then 2 weeks ago 29cm, then this week 26.5cm despite being 28 weeks! Midwife said to ignore as it will change depending on position of baby, water etc.

She said the scans are more reliable but again not spot on, so don't get too caught up with measurements. They are really only a guide.

I suspect this baby will be smaller than my other two as I have a different partner who is shorter, but we will see. Also will not be going full term.

My GTT was clear.

BigFluffyHair · 29/04/2015 16:11

Hi. I just wondered if I could join your group? I'm currently 30+5, due July 3rd, but Due GD will be delivered by June 26th.

I have a (just) 2 year old Ds and don't know what we're expecting this time!

I've had a quick skim through and you've inspired me to get my hospital bag sorted incase I go early! Need to get cit down and car seat and newborn clothes from the loft aswell!

Lewaney3 · 29/04/2015 16:26

Welcome big :)

Can I just ask how you are all figuring out what percentage and centiles your babies are? Is there a generic chart? Can anyone direct me to where I can learn more please?
With the twins I have fortnightly scans but they don't mention what percentage etc they're on... Although I would like to know!

Number3cometome · 29/04/2015 16:32

Lewaney I am on a grow plan so have one which has been created on the weights of my previous two children, it's personal to me so wouldn't apply to anyone else. It has centiles on it.

As for a generic one, there are no centiles mentioned on my scans etc (you have to plot the measurements on the personal graph)

fattymcfatfat · 29/04/2015 16:45

everyone gets a personalised chart where I am.

Zampa · 29/04/2015 16:54

Welcome Fluffy!

I have a chart for bump measurements in my notes and assumed that everyone was measured in this way. I've been bang on the 50th percentile for my past two measurements at 25 and 28 weeks.

Lewaney3 · 29/04/2015 17:26

Thanks for the replies.

I have never had my bump measured but I guess that maybe due to the twin pregnancy, I assume it would be off the chart as my bump is HUGE! Grin

Naturegirl82 · 29/04/2015 18:33

We don't have measurement charts here either. I didn't even have one when I was having growth scans with DD so it must be a regional thing.

Fattycow · 29/04/2015 18:44

I really overdid it today and am knackered now!

broodylicious · 29/04/2015 19:55

I personally don't think there should be growth charts or centiles etc in pregnancy (unless for genuine medical reasons of course). Mummies-to-be have enough to worry about during pregnancy and spend hours panicking over movement or whether they should've eaten this or that, drank that coke or coffee, lifted that box etc without the pressure of lines on graphs or what centile baby is lying on. In my opinion, charts and graphs are a license to start beating yourself up before baby is even here because no matter what, you'd probably blame yourself if baby isn't on that perfectly average line. It doesn't ease up after baby has arrived either, with weigh-ins at hv clinics. It drove me to PND with my dd (which is why I have such a strong opinion on this) and I know it's perfectly normal for mummies to question themselves in those early days and still three years on actuallyWink but before baby is here? Too much pressure. In my opinionSmile
