broody I kind of just pass out at night as I am so shattered Blush so it doesn't seem to be a problem then but during the day, I can't sit at my desk for more than 15 mins without having to get up.

It's weird!

Zampa · 27/04/2015 19:44

I have much thicker hair too Number. I put it down to my expensive new shampoo at first but it's more than likely the hormones. Shame it won't stay like that. Sad

broodylicious · 27/04/2015 20:29

Aaah hair. Have you ftm heard about hair after birth? It will come out in bucket loads. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration but all that lovely hair your scalp has grown and not let go of will come out in the first six weeks or so after the birth. Think standard malting/shedding of hair on drugs Wink

I WISH my skin was good. it always craps out with stress and what with my mcs last year and the stress and hormone merry go round, it's crap and just hasn't got better. GP said there's nothing they can do without antibiotics which I'm obv not going for. Also neither of my GPs can agree on whether its acne or dermatitis or something else. Have made appt with priv dermatologist so hope I can at least get a diagnosis and make some kind of a plan, even if it has yo be a post-acne plan. It's making me very self conscious.

My hair does look awesome though, people have actually commented on it!Grin

Hi all

Just checking in quickly - I have been keeping up with your posts (nice to see thread is moving faster than the previous one) but having moved house recently and doing lots of DIY I've found it difficult to get onto a PC to post replies.

Great to hear about everyone's 3rd trimester experiences and plans for birth and afterwards. Fattycow your post natal nurse arrangement sounds fab, I wish I had the spare cash to employ such a person - what a great help in the early days. broody and zampa I'm feeling very jealous of your spa days and now thinking about booking one for myself. Newmarket not too far from me and I know that hotel, it's lovely. Is there much for pregnant women to do there? I know spas can be funny about pregnant women (e.g. the centre parcs spa is)

My pregnancy has been going well so far but I ended up in hospital yesterday on the maternity assessment unit. I thought my waters had broken when I made a cup of tea yesterday afternoon. I felt a sudden gush and loads of liquid came out...tried to stop it but couldn't. It didn't smell and was clear so I phoned midwife and was told to go straight to hospital. Ended up being monitored for 2 hours and examined.. but turned out I had just done one almighty wee. It was so embarrassing!!! They were very nice about it and said the baby can just suddenly empty your bladder and you lose control but still felt pretty stupid - I just didn't feel like I needed to go to the toilet, was really strange. I guess I need to do more pelvic floor exercises. I did let two women who arrived after me and who seemed to be in pain jump in front of me in the queue so don't feel too bad for wasting their time.

I can't remember who else is planning to get the NCT bednest, but have you seen the story about the infant death? DH and I have been discussing what to do about our order.

Thanks for advice re: sleeping on your back jmojo and fatty I was worried about this too.

broody sorry to hear about your sickness and low iron count - I heard weetabix is good for boosting iron levels, have been eating these for breakfast every day since getting pregnant! I read that sickness can come back in third trimester (I have been sick twice this week) but mine doesn't seem to be accompanied by the horrible nausea of the 1st trimester so I don't mind it. Hope your sickness is not too severe?

Zampa · 27/04/2015 22:50

Lucky The spa seemed quite clued up on what I could/couldn't do. They steered me away from the sauna and steam room and recommended which of the jets in the hydrotherapy pool to avoid. Treatment wise, they have a couple of pregnancy specific treatments, including lower leg massage. I had a facial too, which was nice. The hotel and spa are gorgeous and the restaurant was very good too. Would highly recommend it.

jmojo · 28/04/2015 00:55

I am worried about tha hair loss post delivery, it has been at the back of my mind all pregnancy. I know some peolple don't get it at all, and others get it when they stop BF. I lost a lot of hair last year with stress and it is just begining to grow back I am not sure my poor scalp can take any more it is so thin at the ends compared to the top where it is growing back. Already had it cut to my shoulders to make it look better. Confused i guess i will just have to see what happens and hope I am not a shedder! ??

Naturegirl82 · 28/04/2015 06:47

lucky have you read the coroners report about the bednest (can't remember if I linked to it earlier in the thread)? Worth a read. There were quite a few contributing factors, the baby was placed prone and left alone for 2 hours which goes against sids advise. The parents were given it second hand so hadn't read the instructions (they weren't given them) and so weren't following them, they had it tilted at 8cm (max should be 5cm) and they left the baby unattended with the side half down (ehich it says not to do). So as long you follow the instructions there shouldn't be a problem. It was a lot of circumstances that lead to a very unfortunate accident. But you and your Dh have to feel comfortable with your decision. I have a bednest and will be reusing it this time.

Naturegirl82 · 28/04/2015 06:48

I did get hair loss after birth or after stopping bf. I was expecting but it just never happened. Saying that though I didn't really notice my hair get thicker during pg either.

LaLaLaaaa · 28/04/2015 07:10

Morning!

Broody I also had slightly low iron levels according to mw yesterday but she said it wasn't low enough for tablets and recommended a drink you can buy from holland and barret instead. Want me to give you the name? It's a powder and you add it to oj to facilitate uptake.

My baby was measuring bang on yesterday which I'm delighted about and head is up in ribs

I've been advised to finish work earlier than I am due to spd- 2 weeks at least earlier bit annoying because I'll lose annual leave.

LaLaLaaaa · 28/04/2015 07:12

Lucky I agree with nature - from sounds of it the issue was not reading instructions about how to use the product correctly. Have a read though and see what you think. If you would worry then it's not worth it.

Number3cometome · 28/04/2015 07:35

Midwife this morning, whooping cough jab tonight after work.

Had a great sleep last night! We put the cot up and rearranged our bedroom.
Must be some feng shui thing because I slept all night.

Yes my hair fell out loads after babies were born, it was never thick anyway so I looked like I was going bald in spots! I had a thyroid blood test which came back fine.

MustBeLoopy390 · 28/04/2015 08:03

My hair goes ridiculously thick during pregnancy, then afterwards I tend to get a few bald patches Confused just awkward I think lol. First bloods have been done for GTT, went quite dizzy and almost blacked out while they were digging about to find a vein so I've been put in a triage room on a bed and my husband has been called Blush next bloods at ten to ten. So bloody hungry and I've forgotten my book too. Dh is bringing me my book in and is treating me to a meal at the carvery for lunch Smile

smallgreenbanana · 28/04/2015 08:11

lucky Glad all is well after your scare Smile The NCT lady said last week that waters smell quite distinctive (sweet?), but if that had happened to me I would be going to the hospital too! That reminds me to get into a better routine with my pelvic floor exercises too.

Not looking forward to my lovely thick preggo hair falling out. Before getting pg my hair was getting progressively thinner - nothing to be done, not thyroid, just getting older and genetics apparently. Hey ho.

Saw a pg friend last night who gave us a big bag of miscellaneous baby clothes. I shall have to do an audit to see how many vests and sleep suits we have now. Maybe I will start a spreadsheet. broody was it you who likes spreadsheets?

Which hotel is it in Newmarket for the spa?

smallgreenbanana · 28/04/2015 08:17

Bit fed up of the 4am insomnia now... Sad And feeling uncomfy after eating and due to slow transit. Only a few more weeks to go right??

I'm starting to think what I should plan to do if I go into labour early at work in London (live in Cambs). It's unlikely to happen as I'm going on maternity leave at 36.5 weeks but just in case I would rather not be panicking about what to do. Does anyone have any idea? I'm going to speak to my midwife about it.

Charliej86 · 28/04/2015 10:44

I hope my hair doesn't fall out, I can't remember if it did with others. OH found a bald patch few weeks ago, tho hairdresser didn't pick up on it, in sure it will be due to thyroid. It happened couple of years ago I was given steroid cream but I only used it when I remembered.

Been making comments to oh & niece about housework if I end up in hospital for amount of time, hope my mind isn't making predictions.

Also been thinking about after birth & bfing, do we still have to avoid cheeses & pate etc when feeding?

Anyway 28week growth scan this afternoon Grin

jmojo · 28/04/2015 11:02

small you just go to your nearest hospital. It is better if you have your notes, but your husband can always bring them later. They are obliged to look after you and TBH it happens a lot in london hosp that you get tourists day trippers etc coming in with issues for review or even occasionally to deliver.

charlie when bf the only real thing you need to watch is your alcohol intake. ( in the us they have dip strips to use to check that your milk is clear if you have had a night out! ) You will find there are women who swear that eating x gave the baby colic or loose stools etc, if you find that to be the case then avoid x. Also some women continue to avoid caffeine. Remember what you eat is digested by you before the nutrients enter your blood stream and then supply your breasts which produce the milk so it is a long way down the line. Grin

Charliej86 · 28/04/2015 11:12

Thanks jmojo myself and oh are really looking forward to a cheese board n pate maybe a glass of wine, or 2. It may have to wait until I can express. It's a treat we like over Xmas couldn't do this time.

Naturegirl82 · 28/04/2015 11:33

charlie my Dh cooks me a lovely medium rare steak and a cheese board with pate after birth. Smile The only reason you may have to alter your diet is if your LO gets diagnosed with any intolerance that passes through your bm (e.g. diary) but that's not something to worry about and you would be given plenty of info should that be the case. Read up on the research about bf and alcohol as there has been a lot of developments recently about how much actually passes into breast milk. I only stopped bf DD 3 months ago so it's all still fairly fresh in my mind! Smile

smallgreenbanana · 28/04/2015 16:37

Thanks jmojo just need to work out where that is then. Poor DH what a panic that would be for him as it would take him at least 2 hours to get there! Let's hope not.

JoY007 · 28/04/2015 17:15

Hello Ladies,

Hi Lalalaaa please share the name of the drink, thanks. xx

Had my 30/31 week mw appointment yday. Baby measuring fine( to those annoying people that comment on my bump Angry). Excess AF from 28 weeks - mw says not to worry and she also said I should wait till results of bloods at 34 weeks before prescribing iron tabs.

Spinach every night for me now, but I am concerned that my problem is not eating enough iron food, but absorption.

I am usually not a red meat eater and the iron rich food I eat are all non heme iron which are not easily absorbed by the body without sufficient vit c. The vit c in the preg supp probably not sufficient for the level of iron absorption I need Hmm. Will up my iron intake and hope for the best in 4 weeks.

Charliej86 · 28/04/2015 17:50

Arrrggghhh!!!!! Still having a nightmare to get a fit to fly note!! Receptionists at gps says they will not take responsibility and to ask consultant. I had just left consultant appointment where was told although he is happy for me to fly he couldn't sign a ftf as they didn't know I wanted one. If I wasn't stressed before I am now, we fly in 10days!

On plus side baby is deffo a boy and doing well just on the large size. Weighing in at 3lbs 5ozs

MrsFbabyNo1 · 28/04/2015 17:59

Hello all

Yea I've all caught up now, didn't help that I was back from hols Thursday, then had three parties Fri, Sat and Sun!!

Plus boss is on leave now so I'm dealing with all her dramas at work (on top of my own).

I'm off to first antenatal classes 7-9pm tonight and feel v tired now! So hopefully dinner will give me a much needed energy boost! hope I stay awake and take it all in.

Sorry to hear of those having aches, pains, sleepless nights or false water breaking dramas. Spa days sound like good remedy though! Grin

MrsFbabyNo1 · 28/04/2015 18:02

wow Charlie that's a good size bubba for 28wks! do they only guess weight at scans or do midwife apt do that too? I have an apt at 29weeks on Thurs with midwife and would love to know how heavy my little (or big) boy is now!
