No reason to apologize!

MustBeLoopy390 · 30/04/2015 07:28

No need to apologise, all the charts and centiles have always seemed off to me! Sil went into prem labour last night, she's 25 weeks Sad feel like a moany arsed twat after all this because I've been the one sat complaining about my back and shit and I can't imagine how she's feeling. She's in our local hospital and has been given drugs to stop labour, they're giving her a second dose once her blood pressure rises again later (she's on an iv atm) I'm having our nephew today so her husband can go to work Angry because he couldn't give a toss either way. This also leaves me wondering if I should get checked out because I've been having the pains and pressure 'down there' too Confused

Naturegirl82 · 30/04/2015 08:42

must I hope your SIL and baby are ok.

MustBeLoopy390 · 30/04/2015 09:01

Had a few updates and things are looking good, they were going to do an internal an hour ago but no news since, nephew is a little upset that mammy isn't here with him but seems happy enough to play with his cousin and have snuggles. I'm so upset for her

Naturegirl82 · 30/04/2015 09:31

Glad things are looking good. She is in the best place and they will do all they can for her and the baby.

fattymcfatfat · 30/04/2015 09:45

they are in the best place. and don't feel bad for moaning. we all do it, you weren't to know this was going to happen.
Thanks for you and your SIL

JoY007 · 30/04/2015 12:00

Morning Ladies,

Quite busy at work this week, but thought I say quick hello to everyone.

mustbe sorry to hear about your SIL, great that she is in the best of hands now. Normal for you to feel that way, don't feel bad xxx.

Thanks to person who suggested the iron drink from Holland and Barrat will check it out.

Off to a meeting now and need to have lunch, will catch up with the thread later on. XX

Number3cometome · 30/04/2015 12:03

Further proof the personalised charts are shit- had my growth scan today, for hospital charts baby is average (1193g) but according to my chart baby is small. So off they sent me to MAC for an assessment where I explained AGAIN that my dates are a week out! They packed me off happy and I have consultant in 2 weeks and another scan in 3. She said they don't take in to account different partners or the fact my dates are wrong. Panic or what!
28+2 (or 27+2 according to me!)

Fattycow · 30/04/2015 12:09

loopy, sending force for your SIL!

smallgreenbanana · 30/04/2015 12:15

mustbe very sorry to hear about your sil Flowers Hope there's reassuring news soon

smallgreenbanana · 30/04/2015 12:23

number3 not taking into account different partners seems crazy! Um genetics!

Speaking from no experience I admit but growth charts seem to be a source of unnecessary worry. A friend of mine was told by health visitor in first week after he baby was born that according to the chart her baby had lost too much weight. Cue panic - my friend was distraught and thought her baby was going to die. She got some bf help and all was well but the health visitor admitted she did not really understand the chart. Was just looking at the 50th percentile without knowing what that meant. I thought there was natural variation and as long as baby is between 5th and 95th percentiles not to worry? I guess it might be different if there is a specific health condition involved.

broodylicious · 30/04/2015 13:18

Oh must, hoping all is well. Must be a difficult time for you all xx

small, that just makes me cross. I'm sure someone with a less sleep deprived brain may correct me if I'm wrong, but babies generally are expected to lose 5% of their birth weight in the first week? What a nightmare for your friend. Tell her to take the hv advice with a ton of salt and not ever to doubt herself or parenting, she will defo be feeling upset by it xx

Waiting on news now but to me no news is good news, she's had a little leak of waters at lunchtime (she had same with my nephew at 27 w but managed to be kept going until term) hopefully we'll be going to visit tonight (if she's kept in at hospital, otherwise we'll nip round to her house to help her out a bit)

Naturegirl82 · 30/04/2015 13:39

broody it's even more than that, about 7-10% so even more crazy of the hv. But apparently if you have an epidural, babies take on extra fluid just before birth so it may look like they have lost more. Worth bearing in mind.

must hopefully they have managed to stop everything.

Jenbird5891 · 30/04/2015 14:54

Hey anyone been struck by a uti yet?! Saw mw on Monday who told me there was protein in urine. Blood pressure was ok so she thought could be uti. I've dropped off sample with gp for testing on Monday as instructed but results still not back. She thought they took 48 hours but go reception said they can take 14 days!!!!! I'm not feeling ill really although have noticed some sharp twinges in low abdomen and needing to pee quite a lot but how do I know if that's just normal for pregnancy?! Don't know what to do midwife now on hol for two weeks. Have read that uti can cause prem labour which I'm already worried about with twins and def don't want to end up with kidney infection. Just seems a long time to wait if I need treatment now ??

fattymcfatfat · 30/04/2015 16:34

no uti so far this time but I had one every trimester with my DD!

jmojo · 30/04/2015 16:40

Yes it takes 48 -72 hours for a culture on urine jen. The 2 weeks is how long it takes for the result to be sent to the GP or for them to get round to letting you know. Do the tests go to your hospital? You could be cheeky and call labour ward or MDAU, and say that you would have called your midwife but she is away, and the GP has not received the lab test back and say it could be 2 wks. As you are having some symptoms, and are pregnant with twins, you were hoping they could quickly check the computer to see the result, (make sure they give you the bacteria that grew and what antibiotic it is sensitive to if they have it)? If it is pos you can then tell the GP verbally, they can get the nurse to verify with the lab by phone if they want to hear the result themselves.

Your midwife should work in a team not just alone, do you not have a number for the place they are based, who is covering her clinics?? These are people you could also get in touch with.

It can be confusing when you are pregnant as you pee a lot anyway. Protein by it self is often just contamination from discharge etc, so often turns out not to be infection. If there os blood or leucocytes too that tends to be more like to be a UTI, so don't worry too much.

charlieis30 · 30/04/2015 19:53

28 week appt w dr today and all going tickety boo! Baby head down (although I gather that can change). No glucose test needed apparently, bump measures fine, doc was like "do you want to stay here with us or head back to low risk community midwife?" So i'm a pretty happy chappy! Grin

Sherbet38 · 30/04/2015 20:05

Evening everyone Smile I've spent 3 days at a conference, being on my feet all day and commuting by train has exhausted me Sad My feet and ankles look huge! I have tomorrow off work, so lovely long wkd with the bank holiday as well. Going to rest, get my feet up and let DH look after me Wink He's been lovely to be fair.

I've put on 2 stone now & the extra weight is hard going isn't it! I managed to paint my toe nails today, but that may be the last time! Gosh... 10 more weeks to go Shock

Fattycow · 30/04/2015 20:15

sherbet, I have given up on my toes! Might ask my mother to do it someday soon, as it would be too much effort to try it myself!

Charliej86 · 30/04/2015 20:22

I managed to paint my nails at the weekend, thankfully it should last. Oh has mentioned needing a trim 'down there' no chance I can do that. I can't even see it!

BigFluffyHair · 30/04/2015 20:26

Evening from the newbie.

I am sorry to read about your SIL must. How scary for your family. I can't believe her husband went to work! She is in the best place.

Growth charts are funny. They keep an eye on me because of the GD. So far, so good. Get extra scans aswell. I've put on 16lbs this pregnancy. Everyone days I look slimmer in the face now! So it must just be baby weight!

MuddyWellyNelly · 30/04/2015 23:36

Dropped off thread again.

Sorry to hear about your SiL must. Hopefully things settle down for her very soon. Flowers

10 weeks sherbet wow! Some of the early July dates must be into single figures now! As I'm not due till 28th I've felt a bit "behind" all thread, but now I'm secretly pleased Wink. Luckily toenails and hairy bits still accessible for now!

Good news on the appointment Charlie, I have mine next week and a scan too. Kicks are reassuring but it will be nice to see it again as I'm constantly imagining awful scenarios.

Not been given any chart/centile info so far. I just get told if it's measuring right for dates. Maybe my 28 week one will be different.

What sort of weird preggo dreams is everyone having? Last night I spent what felt like hours discussing VAT in my sleep. Hmm. This was not what I'd hoped for. Rumours of chiselled suntanned Adonis creatures turned out to be lies....

smallgreenbanana · 01/05/2015 07:49

It's May - happy May Day everyone! Now I can say I'm going on maternity leave next month. Could even have a baby next month if I give birth between 37-39 weeks. Um. Shock

MrsFbabyNo1 · 01/05/2015 08:01
