The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

Hello all,

Where is everyone today???

Spoke to my nice MW who told me to come in and have a chat with her about what had happened, she was really nice and lovely.

Now I need to get my head down and get some work done before 2.30 and school pickup, but have zero motivation. Wish I worked in an office today, then I could get myself signed off for a few days...

VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 13:00

WB - I'll swap with you. My boss has just cocked up telling the rest of the office my leaving do was next week, but told me it was tomorrow. He know's he has cocked up because next week I finish at 1pm and will not be here for lunch!

Loulou000 · 02/11/2006 13:13

The other advantage of working in an office is that you can wind down to doing virtually nothing for your last week and spend time posting on mumsnet and ordering reusable nappies instead.

weirdbird · 02/11/2006 13:15

Awww Vanilla

Hope its resolved, you should get your leaving do. Still would rather swap though, at least you have the possibility of do and goodies!

DiamondsAreForever · 02/11/2006 13:16

Hi again- I am also finishing work next week, I have just found out that I have two extra days holiday to take so I am only in until Wednesday- yippee!
However, I now have only four days left in the office to get everything up to date, it's a mammoth task for, basically, a woman who is the size of a mammoth.
I've noticed that most on here have children already- and quite young 'uns too. I thought I have mine pretty close together (dd will be 15 mnths)- what about everyone else? I know you've probably already done this but shall I start a stats thread unless there's one lurking?

castlesintheair · 02/11/2006 13:28

Diamonds, there is a December stats thread but don't ask me where it is or how to link it, I'm no good at that sort of thing! I'm sure someone clever can point it out. It's in this antenatal thread somewhere. My DCs are 4 & 2. It's lovely having a small gap (though yours will be smaller) as they are such good pals. Can be quite hard work though too Hope your tummy isn't hurting you today.

WB, glad you are seeing your MW. Hope you get to find out what is happening.

Blimey - can't believe that worked!!

I'm doing the office thing - I'm based at a different office nearer to my home for the last few weeks, so its quiet here, and I have my own office instead of being open plan - just what I need for some good mumsnetting. I finish next Thursday and I can't wait!

I've got hardly any time left in the office either, today and tomorrow...then on Monday I have my obstetrician appt when I'm hoping he'll say that I can go back to midwife led care (I've been on AD's throughout the pregnancy but have had no problems with it at all)....if he says yes (pretty pretty please ) then I go for a scan to check baby's head size and position coz I'm after a home birth! Then, if all that goes to plan, I'm ordering my ' birth pool in a box' - I'm so excited..just hope it all goes to plan.....

Tuesday I've got my last day at my main office and we're going out for lunch, Weds is aquanatal in the morning and work from home in the afternoon....Thursday...last day (not really sure what i'm going to be doing as its a week away and I've already run out!

Oh, sorry for mega post...just can't explain how excited I feel today - makes a nice change from feeling tired I guess....

C

castlesintheair · 02/11/2006 13:45

Very impressed Calsworld! Isn't there also a stats thread which has everyone's age, details of DCs if any etc? Does anyone know where that is?? Hope the home-birth works out for you - that would be so lovely

judemum · 02/11/2006 13:53

hi everyone- phew- glad we've started a new thread. feels a bit more manageable. nothing much to say today, excpet just had massive noodle lunch at wagammammas and now need to try and stay awake at my desk for the next few hours!

Elibean · 02/11/2006 14:35

Ooooo well done Loulou, and well done Calsworld! Old thread was doing weird things to my computer this morning (hence posting twice with time lapse?!) nice to have another new one.

My new, updated due date is 24th November...c-section for transverse bump.

And my other LO is 2.11 - or nearly.

judemum · 02/11/2006 14:40

sorry- if we are collating info, then my DS1 is 22 months- he'll be 2 in Jan.

stokeymonkey · 02/11/2006 14:48

afternoon all,
New thread - nice one!
Am having trouble mustering any energy today, I'm so sleepy! I think it's because we have friends coming round at the weekend and I know I should be at least making a small effort to tidy up and do some housework..somehow snoozing on the sofa is so much more appealing...
Beastie is churning about like a mad thing today. It's like Kung Fu Hustle in there.

Loulou000 · 02/11/2006 14:55

Beastie, ha ha ha. Mine feels like a beastie today, too. All the kickboxing or whatever it's doing in there is starting to feel quite sore now. It was so cute at about 17 weeks!

VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 14:57

Hey All,

I am so tired, not to mention sick and tired of my boss! I have been clearing out my desk since I got in and now he is lurking around it and I can't finish the job because he's in the way. And for my last week I have to go sit in another office, away from colleagues who I will miss, and train the new girl - who my boss seems to think is better than sliced bread! And to rub salt in the wound the new office organisation chart was issued today and I am not named and she is...I still have 6 more days here - talk about 'why am I here'

Can't belive it is only coming up for 3pm - I am so tired I could cry. I have no change for a coke to wake me up either. Will have to make do with healthy old water!

Just wish it was next week already.

And boss has just come to tell me the desk I will be on nest week has deffective electrical sockets so the two PC's are now wired in to one socket - hope that blows so we can't use them

calsworld · 02/11/2006 15:01

I'm there with you too - LO was quite quiet for a couple of weeks (growing?) but now my tummy is back in washing machine mode. I have noticed that it definately starts getting more Karate practice in just before I start to feel hungry - thought maybe it could hear my tummy rumbling before I feel it and was telling me to eat - or is this just a lovely excuse to keep eating scones and raspberry jam?

I also can't believe how much I've suddenly exploded in the last two weeks - I've had to develop whole new techniques for putting on underwear - involving not getting out of bed first......its less complicated than it sounds!

Still not had any BH that I've been aware of and I'm 36 weeks tomorrow - my main discomforts are general immobility from not being able to bend in the middle anymore and cranky hips and pelvis from about 18.00 - 8.00am . Made me cry last night....really should go and get a ball to sit on, am trying to pretend my beanbag is a ball by scrunching it up but don't think its really working....

Did I mention that I've only got a week left at work, a scan on Monday and that I feel really excited about it all ?

calsworld · 02/11/2006 15:07

Sorry VM - cross posted, I do know how you feel: I've been hot desking for three weeks, haven't got a pen or calculator to work with and handed over all my projects two weeks ago, I've been doing everyone else's shitty admin jobs since then.

On the plus side, it was my choice to have a LO and soon I'll be snuggled up with my baby enjoying lots of cuddles whilst the rest of the world tries to convince themselves that the job they do is the best thing - when really we'll be the one's who have it all . Make the most of the surfing time - and keep singing to yourself, only six days to go....only six days to go...

And to all those non first timers out there, please don't remind me that the reality is going to be much harder than my little dream world where pooh, sleepless nights and sore nipples don't exist - oblivion can be good sometimes and its what's keeping me going for now

stokeymonkey · 02/11/2006 15:11

Vanilla, your boss sounds like a complete tool!
Do you think he would notice if you didn't turn up tomorrow??
I dare you to try it!

VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 15:23

Hi Stokey - no he would'nt notice as he has Friday off ! Basically he's such a jobsworth that come June he had enough annual leave left to take every Firday off between then and the end of the year! However - on my account he has cancelled next weeks days leave so he can take part in my leaving celebrations. Which equates to eating all the food I bring in ! A better leaving present would be for him to just take the day off as usual!

By the way if we're doing stats my DD is 3 and I dont know what my bump is apart from big and hard and getting everywhere 30 seconds ahead of me!

Calsworld - I know that in 4-6 weeks I will be in the better position. But we only have 4 people in our office so being sat in another little office with no one but the new girl means I can't have a laugh with the people I have worked with all year, who keep me going, and I will actually have to ....work, as opposed to thi week which has been 50/50 MN and wind-down.

lucy5 · 02/11/2006 15:26

Hi all,

i've just come on for a quick rant, just for a change. Dh came home early, thank god I thought. I've had a shitty couple of days, having found out out i have protein in my urine, bp rising and ankles swelling and being told I might be admitted and induced on Wednesday [don't think that will happen by the way} I spent hours last night at the hospital with dd [5] as visiting doctor thought she might have appendicitus [sp], luckily it wasn't but is a recurrence of her glandular fever, which makes her very run down and whingy. Anyway you can imagine my joy when dh said he was coming home early. Guess where he is???????????????????

In bloody bed with man flu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . I wonder if he will be well enought o go to his leaving do at work tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should'nt complain really , as normally he is very good but he has been bugging me for days,. Last night everytime I moved he thought I was going into labour, today when I need him, he's snoring his bloody head off!

VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 15:31

Ooh can someone do me a favour if they can get on e-bay?? (Work has a Firewall against it) Can you look for a headrest/support for me. We have retrieved DD's car seat and bouncy chair, both of which had head supports on (you know for when baby is tiny), but these have mysteriously not been stored with them and neither me or DH know where they have gone. Also the cosy toes has disapeared! But I can get a nice furry one of those from Mothercare!

VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 15:37

Oh Lucy - thats a man for you, I hope things improve for you - health wise (()).

I dont know about you but when DH is feeling down I always send him off to bed - he works shifts so is constantly tired anyway - and he always goes although does thank me and asks if I'll be alright. But when I feel down, tired etc and he offers me to go to bed I feel really guilty at leaving at him at DD's mercy for a couple of hours because he's tired too that I either dont go or tell him to go instead.

Does anyone else feel guilty like this or am I just a softy push-over!

Loulou000 · 02/11/2006 15:50

I can look for a headrest/support. What is it, though? Is that what it will be called?

OP posts:
VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 15:57

Thanks Loulou. It's the sort of D-shaped support that comes with all equipment for use from birth that keeps babies head in place and stops it lolling around.

Can't thik what else it would be called other than head rest or head support.

Loulou000 · 02/11/2006 16:05

Hmm, there are loads, e.g. for £1.50 starting bid, a Mothercare Babies Head Support:

This Mothercare head support is a must when travelling with babies it keeps there head from moving about. It has got padding for around the baby head as well as underneath it is soft to the touch. It has 2 holes for the harness to go through. It can also be used in a baby bouncer to support babys head.
