The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

hi all. nice to a new smaller thread. not much happening here - just the usual knackered self. hope you're all ok.

VanillaMilkshake · 02/11/2006 16:39

Thanks Loulou, glad there's lots on there, told DH we could use a rolled up blakent as I saw them doing this on an American pregnancy and birth programme, but he wants proper one as he thinks a rolled up blanket will look funny and make bumps head too hot - Not like I was suggestiong we use a flippin quilt - but that's DH for you. Anyway, when I get home, have shower, cook dinner, bath DD, read stories, hoover and iron etc etc I might find time to go on e-bay and bid on one!

Hello all

I was at my sisters all last week whilst my landlord (her partner!) put radiators and a new boiler in my house. It's taken me this long to catch up with all the messages I missed!

Congratulations to maroon and bewilderbeast!! Hope you and babies are doing ok. What a shock! It's put me in a panic as I have nothing prepared at all! I don't know why I'm putting it off. Only 6 weeks to go - if I make it that far!

I've had Braxton Hicks the whole way through - only now they feel more uncomfortable the bigger I get. I don't want to be fed up of being pregnant but I'm constantly fidgetting as any position I'm in becomes unbearable after a few minutes. Getting a lot of back pain as well because bab is still lying on it's back - the midwife said on Monday it was spread out and making the most of the room it's got in there. I can just imagine it floating around in there spread eagled on it's back all contented! I have my marshmallow like abdominal muscles to thank for that I suppose.

Sorry to hear some of you are having last minute probs and hope everything turns out ok for you.

accessorizequeen · 02/11/2006 20:41

I've only just been managing to keep up with the message so shall post briefly to say hullo all, sorry so many of you feeling rotten really!Lucy, v.glad you're NOT going to be induced after all, must have been quite a shock for you, must remember never to have a baby in spain after your tales!
VM, the m/care head supports aren't that much new if you don't manage to get one on ebay. I still haven't managed to buy a car seat, carrycot (for mountain buggy) or somewhere for baby to sleep yet. But have washed approximately 150 items of baby clothing, all waiting to be ironed sigh.
Whoever said last couple of weeks of maternity leave in an office is a doddle should try my office! I'm so stressed I had another asthma/panic attack tonight & haven't slept more than an hour at a time for last 4 nights. But at least they have (with 9 working days left) found someone to do a small portion of my job, I just have to find a spare few hours to hand it over to them whilst simultaneously finishing the project that goes live on Thursday!
Eliboo are you next up then???!!!!
And I'm having a boy next time anyone is brave enough to do a due date thread!

lucy5 · 02/11/2006 21:26

Thanks, will find out about induction on Wednesday. Dh made a miraculous recovery and has now gone to his leaving do!!!!!! Good luck on finishing work everyone

beepbeep · 02/11/2006 22:05

Hi all
Just got internet up & running after moving house ages ago so tonnes to catch up on.

Feeling thoroughly fed up & uncomfortable being pregnant, & nearly 5 weeks to go! ickle one is now 1/5 engaged & extremely lively which should be nice, but now i'm just finding it irritating - is that really bad of me?

take care x

Elibean · 02/11/2006 22:16

Another v short one here, because OMG, I'm just too tired and dead headed to try and post properly....need more than four hours sleep tonight!

Catch up tomorrow....sleep well all, xxx

Spina - - am I really?? OMG...!

Elibean · 02/11/2006 22:17

OK, that should read 'AQ' not 'Spina' - sorry guys, am muddling things now

And Beep, if getting irritated with bump is bad, I'm the world's worst person today sounds normal to me!

accessorizequeen · 02/11/2006 22:26

Yup, I think you are first scheduled Eli, unless Magnolia has already delivered??
Bump really annoying me tonight, so high up it was v.uncomfortable. And then there are the times when you go awwwww

annaspanner · 03/11/2006 09:13

Ok, I know most of you have done this before, and it will probably seem like a stupid question......but..I'm now really confused. When talking about baby clothes, if a body is with sleeves and legs, is a vest without sleeves and legs? And can a vest be with and without poppers? If a vest has poppers, is it the same as a short sleeve body suit? What is a sleepsuit? And what's the difference between a bodysuit, an all-in-one and a romper suit? Ahhhhhhhhh! Why does it have to be so complicated? There can't be that many options...can there?

Elibean · 03/11/2006 09:19

Anna can only answer about one of those and I'm on my second! Bodies don't usually have legs, just poppers under crotch, short, long or no sleeves, and can be wrap around or pull-over-head.
Vests to me are sleeveless things without the between the legs bit, that dd wears now she's much bigger - but possibly a sleeveless body could be called a vest??
Sleepsuits are, I think, all-in-ones with or without feet, which are worn over the top of bodies.
Now all I have to do is tackle the language of reusable nappies.....oi...

Elibean · 03/11/2006 09:21

My car has been broken into

I'm supposed to leave the house in half an hour for an appointment, glass all over the place, and omg just realized I borrowed dh's sat nav (daft gadget that it is) the other day and it might have been in the glove box. Just what an itchy pregnant person needs.

Had to get that off my itchy chest before tackling situation...

Elibean · 03/11/2006 09:21

AND its the oldest, messiest, least desirable car in the street!

Indith · 03/11/2006 09:28

lol at anna! I think all us first timers are pretty much thinking the same thing! MIL coming to visit soon...she knows stuff and is opinionated......may take her to the baby section of Tesco!

Saw my MW yesterday, no glucose this time! Also put things in motion for homebirth which she had no problems with at all so at some point next week I'll be getting a home visit to check out my flat! All exciting really.

Bump keeps skipping around my tummy. Last night and this morning he was really really low (at the risk of TMI sex was aborted due to me feeling like is was pushing everything forward and really not confortable), making the bump look really low too, actaully had space between boobs and bump! Seems to have listened to me when I told him that dropping down would get him nowhere as the exit was barred at this point in time and has moved back up again.

Indith · 03/11/2006 09:30

That is horrible Eli!

Hope you get it sorted ok and not too much damage other than glass.

tinshoes · 03/11/2006 09:39

Eli - that sucks!

Anna - a bodysuit is the same as a vest. It is like a t-shirt but with poppers at the crotch and no legs. A sleepsuit has arms and legs (like allinone pyjamas) and they have buttons down the front and critch area. They are often worn over bodysuits. Agree with Eli that a vest should be sleevless, crotchless, legless etc but that would make everything far too easy

jabberwocky · 03/11/2006 10:00

Eli, that is awful Can't imagine dealing with that on top of regular pg hormonal woes.

Short rant alert - so buggy board came in without seat part (seat2go). The company very nicely sent it the next day. We sat down to put it together and lots of small parts are missing too! Have just emailed that I need to return the whole thing. Dh and I are just too disgusted to try and even figure out what all is missing.

Anna, everything is called differently over here, so I'm no help at all. We have onesies that are with or without sleeves, those cute little kimono styly t-shirts, sleepers with and without feet, and, my favorite, the sleep gowns with elastic at the bottom.

Has anyone else had a baby shower yet? Mine is coming up on Sunday. Afterwards I'm going to hang around with a couple of close friends and do my belly cast

jabberwocky · 03/11/2006 10:09

Another hospital bag thread going on if anyone's interested. I haven't packed mine yet.

VM, meant to add on last post that I can so empathize with the hard bump thing. It's really uncomfortable when it goes like that and mine feels that way a lot of the time. Makes me just want to stay in bed all day - but then my hips would hurt!

VanillaMilkshake · 03/11/2006 10:43

Eli - poor you, bl**dy criminals!

Jabber, unfortuneatley babyshowers are'nt as popular over here as your side of the pond
Have only ever been to one, which I co-threw for my friends first.

DH phoned from work this morning to ask if I can do afternoons next week so he can do some overtime on what would normally be his week off...but as stupid boss has arranged for me to only have 1-week handover to replacement and she's been told mornings so I could'nt change at such short notice. Am really cheesed off as that means we have lost out on a potential of £200 - right when it would come in very handy !

Tumble dryer balls arrived this morning! Will let you know how good they are after using them on the next load I do - probably tomorrow Also bio-degradable nappy liners arrived. And have washed all my bargain terry and cotton nappies. But am going to invite the nappy officer to come and tell me more! Spent 90 minutes ironing only to be left with a still over flowing basket am going to put a real effort in this weekend to actually remind myself what the bottom of the ironing basket looks like!

BTW my bump has dropped should it be doing that so early - can't remember from last time. But walking has become mega-uncomfortable, and any move from bump leave me is some very strange poses!

jabberwocky · 03/11/2006 10:53

I think it can drop this early, VM. I'm honestly not sure if ds really did or not, since he was breech, I guess you couldn't really tell.

Okay, so baby showers not that popular. That's a shame, really. How about belly casts? Anyone else doing one? I did one with ds and I just love it. Can't wait to do this one.

jabberwocky · 03/11/2006 10:54

Forgot to say for you at missing out on the extra cash. Timing stinks sometimes, doesn't it?

VanillaMilkshake · 03/11/2006 11:04

I think belly casts are also less popular over here. I thin the mums-to-be would like to do all this great stuff but friends and family would just this 'What?!'

Well have lost more plug in the last 72 hours and with a dropping bump DH is getting rather exciteable!

judemum · 03/11/2006 11:35

I think belly casts are a bit of a funny concept- what do you do with it afterwards??!! My friend did one, but its just in her loft now! DS1 woke at 5.30 am this morning, crying his eyes out. came into bed with us and then chattered for half an hour, until we put the TV on and the told us what was happening on the TV. DH was out last night and nursing a hangover, so we're all ratty today! BTW is anyone else experiencing a sort of vacuum/upwards sucking feeling on their pel;vic floor- can't descirbe it very well, but feels like a cork being pulled upwards efevry now and then. No idea what this means
