OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyTophamHatt · 03/11/2006 10:52

no idea, muppet. I had recurrent thrush since about 7 weeks PG and have just used canestan cream or the cream the doctor gave me.
Not sure what it's called though.

Tillypup · 03/11/2006 11:58

2happy,

To be honest all throughout this pregnancy I've been expecting to suddenly start feeling terrible. Everyone has been telling me how bad everything is and then seems so surprised when i say "well actually I feel fine most of the time!" they then tut tut, and I normally get told, well you just wait uuntil such and such!

I'm getting a bit fed up with it really! I'm pregnant not ill!

I was told off by a physio friend of mine whilst limping when I had a bit of back ache (pelvic pain) since then I've concentrated on my posture, sucked my muscles in, result being I can walk around normally!

theUrbanDryad · 03/11/2006 12:04

lizzz - i'm usually a 32C but have shot up to a 34F over the last 7 months! dh LOVES them, but they're a bit sore to play with (sorry if tmi!)...totally agree with you about waddling like you've wet yourself. in fact, dh said to me the other day "ah, you've got the pregnancy waddle down pat" then wondered why i didn't seem pleased at that! i bought myself some new boots the other day, cause my trainers are too flat and all my other boots are either too high or too heavy and it's bliss! they've got a very low heel to them, and my back actually feels supported. went to bed last night and didn't feel like the base of my spine was about to cleave in twain!

nosebleeds: could be a sign of raised blood pressure? i used to get them regularly (and, not to scare you, but i got them in my first pregnancy, which ended in m/c) i have a friend who's an ear/nose/throat nurse, and asked him about it, and he said that a raise in blood pressure could cause a nose bleed, so i would definitely mention it next time you see the mw. although they check your blood pressure each time don't they, so i'm sure if anything IS wrong (and i'm sure it isn't!) they'll pick up on it.

i'm a bit peed off actually...if anyone can remember that far back, do you remember me whinging about my painful blood tests done by the midwife student at my last appt? well i just got a letter through from the surgery today, saying that "due to a lab error" i have to go get them done again! at the hospital! so not only did i end up with massive bruises on my elbows it was all for nowt!

oh yeah, and before i forget, magnolia: any luck with your expenses from first? i phoned them AGAIN today, and spoke to the editorial team...she asked me to email her my bank details and said she would put the money in today. ...we shall see...

honeybean · 03/11/2006 12:04

Hello everyone,
I am new here but have been reading for a couple of weeks!....This is my first and due on 08.01.07, feeling really good at the moment but know it is probably the calm before the storm! Anyway nice to join you
x

coffeebeanz · 03/11/2006 12:08

2Happy, you have got such a great imagination, I love the new title. Think I'm going to need the services of a sheep shearer (or vet)very soon (ps use the guys from the tyne valley so highly unlikely I will ever be able to embarass your DH in RL, although the prospect of a trip to Rothbury for a sweep and a trim sounds like fun !!!)

Rather bored with this pregnancy thing now. Saw MW this week and she doesnt want to see me for another 4 weeks. Is this normal ? I'll be 33 weeks then.

coffeebeanz · 03/11/2006 12:16

Welcome Honeybean and Tillypup, glad to hear you are both feeling great. I'm expecting no 3, and havent experienced a single problem and dont really expect to as my previous pregnancies were fine. Pregnancy is a condition not an illness.(but I do have sympathy with everyone who is suffering so dont go giving me abuse now !) I'm impressed you are still spinning Tillypup I had to give that up some weeks ago. The only moan I've got is that I twisted my ankle on the treadmill last night and I'm limping and feeling a bit sorry for myself. I 'm probably going too slow now !

Hattie2 · 03/11/2006 12:21

coffeebeanz - 4 weeks between appts is normal here. My last appt was at 28 weeks and next is next week at 32 weeks, then have every 2 weeks after that.

Dragonhart · 03/11/2006 12:35

Right, jsut been looking onthe boots website and there are loads of deals on car seats and buggies. Def worth a look before trying else where as some maxicosi and bebe confort had 20% off here

Also for anyone who does not get Mother and Baby magazine here are some codes for money off (you have to order online though as instore they want to see the voucher):

Early Learning Centre 20%- BAGPIPE in the shopping basket part
Little Tikes toys at littletikes.co.uk 10% off- go to 'online specials' and enter ref m&b100best when prompted (not looked at his so dont know how good it is)
Mini Marvellous at minimarvellous.co.uk 10%- MB12

ELC is the best one def!

Lizzz, cant tell you how many shops and dif staff I have been fitted by and they have all said that while only being 6ft, I have a really long distance from my shoulder to under my boob. Just a bit of a freak I guess . Back is straight when I am fitted but if I lift my arms up,infront of the person fitting, que lots of frowns and trying on of yet more bras! Love being tall but def has its drawbacks when it comes to getitng clothes to fit. Dont get me started on maternity clothes for tall women! Thanks though.

LadyTophamHatt · 03/11/2006 12:35

my appts have been like this so far-
booking in appt at about 8 weeks.

MW appt at 18 weeks

MW appt at 28 weeks

next appt isn't until 34 weeks, then 36, 38 and if I get that far 41.

It seems to get less and less with each pregnancy.

Dragonhart · 03/11/2006 12:45

I have def had less this time compared to last. They dont want to see me til 32 weeks and that will only be the 3rd time.

LadyTophamHatt · 03/11/2006 12:50

I certainly had more appts with my last PG. But I was also in a differnet county so that could be why.

elliepmummy · 03/11/2006 13:17

OonaghBhuna · 03/11/2006 13:38

Im having a difficult day today and Fridays are supposed to be good days for me as I work mornings mon-thurs. My DD and I usually have fun as we have the whole day together.I feel much more emotional with this pregnancy, maybe its the tirdeness....only 3 more weeks of work left!
My yoga teacher showed me a good exercise for heartburn, sit crossed legged facing a wall and stretch your arms overhead resting on the wall, it worked for me but maybe not at 3am in the morning its easier just to swig a bottle of gaviscon....!

OonaghBhuna · 03/11/2006 13:41

It looks like Im going to have another section Dd was an emergency section. Is it different having a planned section? Does anyone have any good tips!?

jessddibs · 03/11/2006 13:58

hi all, my news is that dh is back to being a complete wa*er. (it's a long story to those who do not know my history of posts)He was up in london yesterday at a work/party and failed to arrive home last night when he had already texted me to leave out a key for him as he realised he didn't have one. I spent the whole night worrying and stressing, took dd to school and he eventually rolled into MY work at 9.45am requesting a door key!!!!!(i wasn't gonna leave it out all day) No 'sorry' or 'how are you'(i fainted again big time yesterday, which he new, and had promised to walk with me and dd to school this morning just in case it happened again) or 'is dd ok'!?!?!?! I am so annoyed. I do and I don't want to see him tonight as I do not want to loose my temper with him. Hope he is late in so that I am in bed when he gets home. I got him a new key cut on the way into work so shouldn't have to leave out keys or speak to him. I partly wish that I had gone into labour last night and that he missed the whole thing, as when I tried calling him at 12.30am he could hardly talk cause he was so drunk! He is a 40 year old bloke for christ sake! with responsibilities! F*k knows where he slept! probably with another women!

Rant over now, thanks guys for letting me release the steam! Don't know what I would do without you! I hate these hormones!

MrsPeacock · 03/11/2006 14:31

Howdy,
Thanks for the updates elliep, there are loads of us! All these poor January babies with rubbish birthday's when nobody has any money left after xmas!
I am in a fab mood today as finally it's friday! This has been the longest week evar! And I have a shopping trip planned with my lovely other due in Jan pal, for baby stuff, (DH just doesn't get as excited about these things).
The diabetes test came back clear at the end of last week - hurrah, and I am managing ok with my jelly pelvis, just makes me a fair bit slower and walk with an even more pronounced waddle but hey ho.
Bra advice is for winners Lizz, I (samefully) have not had myself measured since the positive result but have found that maternity bras (yes I was sucked in with the no underwire myth) one cup size bigger have been quite comfy. Should I invest in a night bra? or is this a myth too? - I am very afraid of coopers droop.
Welcome to all the new folks, although properly jealous that you all seem to be able to hang onto your femininity better than me.
Have good weekends girls!

MrsPeacock · 03/11/2006 14:47

Oh Jess, I am so sorry your dh, is back to being so insensitive and immature. What is it with grown men that they still feel that they can act like children? (in fact I think kids are better behaved!)
Try not to dwell too much on what he got up to last night until you have had a chance to calm down and talk to him about it.
But you have every right to be pssed off with him.
Sending hugs your way, lets just hope he realises what a w
nker he has been once the hangover wears off.

2Happy · 03/11/2006 15:17

Well I get to give myself a gold star for being virtuous - I have spent the entire day at in-laws with ds. Off my own bat, I called them and offered to come round. ds is going to collapse with shock, lol!
MrsP - glad the diabetes test came back all clear
Jess - and We're all needing more and more support as these pg go on, not less. What's he going to do when the baby is actually here? Surely he can't be thinking he'll still be going out drinking all night? I think you're right, I think it's about time he started acting his age and realising he has responsibilities. to you, anyway.
Oonagh - that sounds a good exercise. I've been trying sitting with my back to the sofa and kind of arching back to lay my head on the sofa (if that makes sense). It seems to ease the rib pain, which depressingly has started up already.
DH - thanks for those codes. If nothing else, they'll be useful for Christmas shopping, lol! Can't seem to get my head in gear to sort out what we need for the new baby.
Coffee - maybe I should hire him out
Tilly - isn't it a shame they can't be pleased for you to be enjoying your pg? I really loved being pg last time (which may be why I did it again so soon!)
UD - for you about the blood tests
LTH, muppet - I know the tissues in your nose get engorged when pg, that's why pg women often get snuffly noses/probs breathing through their nose. Maybe that makes them easier to bleed? (Probably talking b*llocks!)
Lizzz - good news about the indigestion, I've never heard of the stuff - does it taste any less revolting than gaviscon??
Charlee - thank you, though I still think the ring of fire tops it! Good luck to you all this month
Podmog - I know. It's all very well at the end when you're too uncomfortable to sleep, but it's just cruel to have insomnia all the way through. I've tried everything I can think of, and it's still here. Sooo frustrating. And MN is too quiet by half overnight But, unlike you, at least I only have one kid to look after so I can get a bit of a rest when he has his afternoon nap. How old are your three?

Shimmer · 03/11/2006 15:18

Jess that sounds awful. Really not what you need at the moment! I won't try and offer any advise (with my track record I'm really not qualified!) apart from to agree that it does sound like he's behaving like a complete wanker and to not let him get away with it too easily!! If you ignore it or hide your anger/disappointment he might just carry on seeing how far he can push the boundaries - sounds basically the same as the way you'd treat a toddler doesn't it?!?

I'm having a few "issues" with my own dh at the mo (though actually we're not married, which I am beginning to think is part of the problem!) but it's just small stuff really and I know that the hormones are probably making me overreact to things which shouldn't be serious problems! Anyone else finding they're having to rely on their brains more than they used to (rather than just going on emotions or instinct) to figure out what's an actual problem and deserves worrying about and what's just confusion/hormones? Or am I over analysing that too???

Thanks for the bra advise Lizzz! Very useful. I too have stuck to my usual underwired variety up til now, just because I find them more comfortable. I did buy a maternity bra but it was ugly and uncomfortable and we really didn't get on at all! I don't think my bra size has changed at all in pregnancy so far. Though..... is it true that a 36C has a bigger cup than a 34C? Cos if it does then maybe i have got a tiny bit bigger.

Elliep - It's a boy.

Welcome to all the new people - hope you all have a good weekend!!

2Happy · 03/11/2006 15:19

Sugar, forgot, sorry! Hello and welcome, Honeybean

theUrbanDryad · 03/11/2006 16:07

i had booking in at about 10 weeks, then saw her at 16, 24 and 28. next one is at 32, then every two weeks after that. so...four weeks between appts sounds good to me! i think they make it up as they go along.

meant to say - has anyone ordered anything from verbaudet? i had a catalogue with a £5 off voucher in my bounty pack so ordered a couple of sleepsuits. they wrote to me TWO WEEKS later saying they couldn't supply, then when i phoned them to ask what had happened to the £5.99 i sent them as payment they sent me credit instead. i've only just got the cheque back from them. anyone else had similar experiences?

theUrbanDryad · 03/11/2006 16:11

jess - your husband needs to address his drinking. if it was me i wouldn't've left the keys out for him and he could have slept in a ditch. but then, other mumsnetters (usually on the relationships threads) have pointed out that i'm too harsh.

you have my sympathies...you can always come and rant on here. xx

el123456 · 03/11/2006 17:07

I found that mothercare and m&s totally useless. Both told me couldnt fit me!(sorry lizzz)Absolutely swear by John lewis for bras,i got tiny back with enormous boobs and they brill.Totally sympathise with all your aches and pains everyone and really tired running round after other kids.Want january to come but will get even less sleep then...ahhhh!

Ladywithababy · 03/11/2006 17:30

Afternoon everyone - yay it's the weekend.

Jess, sorry to hear about your dh acting like he did - it must be really hard to cope with Maybe he will shape up when baby is born? Not that that is much compensation now when you need a stress free time...

LTH I heard that nosebleeds are common in pg as you are pumping so much more blood around. Someone told me the stats for how much more it was, but it went in one ear, not that its very useful really, but so you know it's quite common.

Everyone have a good weekend and hope you get to put your feet up (one of mine is swollen following a tumble, so that's what I aim to do tonight)

Hattie2 · 03/11/2006 18:59

jess - sorry to hear your dh is giving you stress again I have no advice I'm afraid but feel free to come and rant on here whenever necessary x x
