dont worry daisypops apparently common. Its called carpel tunnel.

poppynic · 14/11/2006 14:10

Magnolia, you poor thing - three weeks is a long time to worry. I guess the only slight positive about it all is that the medical staff know what the problems are and can be prepared from the beginning rather than everything going crazy in the middle. Thinking of you and looking forward to hearing some good news after the 7th. (btw 7/12 is my Mum's birthday and she's fab.) Best wishes.

muppet3 · 14/11/2006 15:01

Magnolia - sorry to hear it's such a worrying situation that's really rough. There are going to be lots of fingers crossed on here for you and baby on 7 Dec. I'm feeling very lucky, with only the usual sciatica and indigestion to contend with. Although the frequent dizziness and fainting appears to be because my blood pressure is falling - exactly when it should be rising. And my bump is a little on the small side for nearly 33 weeks, which isn't surprising if I'm hypotensive apparently as I might be looking at a lower birth weight. Using it as an excuse to order some smaller newborn clothes I've also hired a birth doula - feels weird but reassuring.

theUrbanDryad · 14/11/2006 15:01

carpal tunnel is really common in PG, mine has reached epic proportions and is quite, quite ridiculous! make sure your BP hasn't risen though - i found out the other day that my local pharmacist does free BP checks. check in your notes what your last reading was and then compare it with the one they give you. if it's risen significantly get in touch with your MW.

are your hands/feet swollen?

i am the panic queen!

2Happy · 14/11/2006 15:03

Daisy speak to your GP/mw, you can get wrist supports to relieve the pressure.
UD - why do men have to bring half the bath with them when they get out? dh is like a flipping tidal wave when he gets out of bath or shower, water all over the shop. Grmph. Irritates me, pg or not!
Someone at work today said he'd told his wife I was finishing soon (3 weeks tomorrow, yipee!), and she'd asked how far on I was. He said he'd told her I was 35 weeks and massive. I'm only 30!!!! And I'm not massive. Git!!!

theUrbanDryad · 14/11/2006 15:04

ooh....forgot to say...

i was asked to write a 6-page short for "the girly comic" and thought i'd write it about pregnancy. FINALLY finished it today (after a few weeks of being very lazy) and will email it to the editor...i'll let you all know when it goes in, and then you have to all go to your local comic shops and buy it, and then i'll get lots more work!

you see my cunning plan here??

magnolia1 · 14/11/2006 15:09

Urban, I havent even recieved photo's from First and no expenses either. Going to email the Editor and complain!!!!

muppet3 · 14/11/2006 15:09

p.s. sympathies on the carpal tunnel syndrome - I'm slightly but permanently disabled as a result of emergency operations for it a couple of years back. At least with pregnancy it will go away again without surgery! Try wrist rotation exercises and strengthen the muscles that you use to hold your shoulders back by holding correct posture, holding bottles of water and extending your arms like you're carrying a tray (or dancing like Cleopatra with arms to the side). The more you use the bigger, stronger muscles in your upper arms and shoulders, the easier your wrists and lower arms can take it. Also, if you can get your dp or dh to help out, get them to massage your lower arms firmly (not on the wrist itself tho). Get them to rub and twist firmly like they're giving you chinese burns up and down your forearms. It will help to drain them and promote better circulation.

theUrbanDryad · 14/11/2006 15:47

magnolia i at least have had the photos!

you need to email [email protected]

don't funk around with them - be pissed off and let them know you're pissed off!!! not that it's done me any good, mind...

well, i guess we'll know for next time eh!

2Happy · 14/11/2006 15:49

Well it's a pisser, to be sure, but at least you two can say "Well, that's the last naked pregnant magazine photo shoot I'll ever do!" which is a pretty cool thing to be able to say

magnolia1 · 14/11/2006 17:58
Grin
theUrbanDryad · 14/11/2006 18:00

pitstop - going to assume you made your way over here!

welcome to mumsnet!!

Dragonhart · 14/11/2006 20:03

Soooooooo tired.

LadyTophamHatt · 15/11/2006 07:00

I started a post last night, a long moany whingy post but got called upstairs by one of the Ds's.
DH was looking at a differnet site whe I came back down so I lost the whole lot.

Anyway, rather than torturing him slowly with various kitchen tools I felt quite gald.

I'm fed up with everything that is PG related...including maoning about it. I keep changing my mind from feeling utter horror at having 8weeks STILL to go to feeling utter horror at having ONLY 8 weeks to go.

ROLL ON JANUARY

Thats all I'm going to say because I'm fed up with "hearing" myslef moan.

(Have i posted any happy, un-moany posts on any of our threads???....I'm such a misery!!)

elliepmummy · 15/11/2006 07:35

Think most of us are feeling that way LTH when anyone asks whens it due I never say the date always how amny weeks and days (currently 7 weeks and 2 days!) so glad having a section as I def know being pregnant will be over (forever hopefully!!!)

You have posted many witty/funny comments so don't worry about moaning thats what we all do, hope you have a good day x

PS I'm very excited going to have my hair cut and coloured this morning decided to go brown with a shade of red and had 5 inches cut off in spetember going to have another 3 inches cut off today so feeling brave

elliepmummy · 15/11/2006 07:48

Have you seen the thread in christmas section another mn is collating a massive list of people who are strugling to buy xmas presents for their DC and also collating list of people willing to donate presents/vouchers etc and organising sending presents to those families. Makes you realise how generous and lovely people who use MN are and how many smiles (and tears) there will be on xmas morning in some peoples houses!

Galmum · 15/11/2006 08:28

Hello all,

Is it too late to join the "due in Jan" club? I'm due on 27th - no idea what sex. I look like I should be in the "due in Dec" club!!

muppet3 · 15/11/2006 09:02

Welcome galmum - and you're not the only one to look like you're closer to dropping than January! LTH - I'm with you hun. Still 7 weeks ... aargh, only 7 weeks. Went to www.harryduley.com and bought myself a couple of bump tubes to cheer myself up - highly recommended. For £15 you get a cheerful bright colour to bridge that annoying gap between waistband and tops, keep your bump warm when your winter coat hangs open, and stop you flashing your stretch marks at the world when breastfeeding Oh - and grim ladies with shopping baskets seem a little less likely to whack you in the stomach with them in the supermarket when you have a huge cerise band around you.

pitstop · 15/11/2006 09:11

Hello All,

Yes I've found you! I'm expecting my first, EDD 29/01 and so far its all gone very smoothly!! Although since telling a colleague this morning I've been feeling faint ever since!!! Think I should keep quiet and thank my blessings!!!

Magnolia, Good luck! I'll be thinking of you.

My sister had carpal tunnel and had cortisone injections to relieve the pressure!

Any advice on very dry skin would be appreciated, my skins changed in the space of a couple of days!! and slathering on all sorts of oils and lotions doesn't seem to do a thing!!

Nice to be on board

Pen x

LadyTophamHatt · 15/11/2006 09:37

Blimey....MORE newbies.
Great tou have you both on board girls. January is going to be a busy month in the birth announcment topic

Pitstop, do you mean dryskin on your hands, face or generally all over?
I get horrendous dry skin on my hands. Really painful cracked finger tips and between my fingers and use Nuerotgena (which I obviously can't spell!!)norwegian formula. It's very waxy, almost like vaseline but makes my hands look like they belong to the 33 yr old me rather than what they would look like if I was 80.
My bump gets very itchy when dry, but as this is my 4th baby I really can't be faffed with appliing cream every day. I just put a few dollops of what ever cream is nearest cream to hand.... nivea, E45 whatever really, seems to lessen the itchyness when it happens..
I have got some Cocoa butter stretch mark cream that I bought in one of my many mad moments but as I get strechmarks with my DS's I'm pretty sure I'll get more especially as my bump does get dry and itchy which IMO is how they start IYSWIM.

Got a MW appt in 30 mins so better got going. I was sure my next one was at 34 weeks but I thought I'd check my notes the other day and discovered that it's at 32 weeks.....I had a brain once. I don't think theres any hope of getting one back now.

lulu25 · 15/11/2006 09:47

Muppet, what's that website? The link you posted doesn't seem to work..I saw someone wearing a pink bump belt and have been coveting it ever since, but can only find them in black and white. Ta lx

muppet3 · 15/11/2006 10:30

whoops - should have been www.harryduley.co.uk - sorry

It's the only place I could find coloured ones as well - alternating lime green and bright pink is way more fun than boring black and white (maternity leave is liberating clotheswise!).

Daisypops · 15/11/2006 11:05

All these newbies. I can't keep up. So many of us now.

LTH-LMAO at your posts. MN is good for moaning so carry on.

I still don't know whether its braxton hicks I'm feeling. I thought it was just bub moving and sticking its bum out but does this sound like BH, it all goes hard and tight?

Not long for us all now. I booked my beauty treatments for 20 December . A bit of pampering is well overdue.

LadyTophamHatt · 15/11/2006 11:39

Just back from the MW and had a good long moan to her and a student MW so I got 2 for the price of 1

I'm 32+2 weeks but am now measuring 35 so at least I have a good reson for moaning...I am big for my dates.
Homebirth all set and ready, have to increase my iron intake abit because my levels are slightly down. Bought some dried apricots which I will have to force myself to eat because they are rank but then, they are better than taking iron tablets which would only make me constipated again. I need my proper daily poo and hate being constipated.

Does anyone think a 2nd danish cinammon swirl is outrageuosly greedy??

No....??

I thought you'd all say that. Iknew you'd all say it was a brilliant idea.

Kettle has just boiled so I'll eat it with a cuppa.

theUrbanDryad · 15/11/2006 11:42

hiya all - welcome to the newbies!! glad you found us pitstop (love the name btw, am a huge fan of wacky races!!)

well i had my mw appt this morning, at 31 weeks (9 weeks to go here, bored of pregnant now!!) and she said that they weren't starting antenatal classes until the 7th december! seems to be cutting it a bit fine, IMO. given that i'm due the 9th/16th (and still no-one seems very sure!)...when are you guys starting yours? i know a lot of people with their second/third/fourth/fifth baby don't bother, but this is my first and i'm a tiny (just a tiny) bit panicky!

dry skin - i use oil of ulay (or whatever it is) on my face, and cocoa butter and mallow on the bump. not because it's particularly dry or itchy on my bump, i just like rubbing it! i had awfully dry hands last winter and used nivea night renewal cream religiously every evening and it worked a treat.
