It's like a little hook on the end of a knitting needle that they insert in your cervix to break your waters. She said she can get two fingers in and can feel baby's head so they will be able to slide the hook between those to fingers and they then nick the waters which hopefully starts labour. Since second lot of monitoring I haven't had anywhere near the level of discomfort with contractions as they were so I'm feeling a bit dispondant now. Lady next to me has just been told they won't induce her as delivery suite have no room so maybe waiting a while Sad

daholster · 07/04/2015 16:29

Well cinnamon you might end up with your natural labour after all! Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

RL it's a teeny hook they put in to break the waters that's all. They only use it to speed things along or eg in induction or if concerns about baby or mum tiring or mum v u comfy cos they don't burst (like happened to me). Usually they try to let waters go naturally I believe.

siarie good luck tomorrow. I'd tell the estate agent no-one will be in!!!

Best go and get dd from nursery , I napped (badly) for 2 hours and woke up much later than I had imagined! So much for pottering... Thankfully she can't tell the time to be thinking I have forgotten her!!! Blush

daholster · 07/04/2015 16:30

Oh cinnamon boo!!! Walk and walk and walk some more... They were obviously doing something to be dilating you so don't give up hope. The waiting is just an opportunity. Flowers

PenguinPoser · 07/04/2015 16:32

Ooh exciting that babies are on the way!

Pleased things are happening cinnamon hope its not too long until you're on delivery suite.

Brixton hope things kick off for you too - definitely sounds like your waters have gone!

Good luck for tomorrow Siarie.

FiRaffe I would definitely complain about that delivery man!

RL20 · 07/04/2015 16:50

Thanks for the hook explanations!
I really hope I don't overthink and be a wuss when in actual labour!
I'm not a fan of technical terms or words, as you have probably guessed!Confused.

Baby is really digging something in my left hip today!

Wineandchoccy · 07/04/2015 16:52

Good luck Siarie

Whoops I came to paint my toenails at 3pm whilst led on the bed, just woke up with my IPad stuck to my face. I have pretty pink toes though in case labour starts Grin

AnniaFausta · 07/04/2015 16:52

Glad you at least know what's going on Siarie, and I hope it all goes smoothly tomorrow.

Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly, cinnamon and Brixton - amazed at you both keeping us posted :)

Fi, yes, do complain. That's shocking.

Nunkie, friends of mine have had bleeding nipples during BF, and yes, so long as the blood isn't the baby's, there's nothing to worry about. Apart from, erm, the bleeding nipples, but you know what I mean. This was the stage where one of said friends moved to nipple shields, if that's useful to know.

I got most of my errands done (apart from the one I forgot but can do on high street tomorrow easily), which was four hours out of the house this morning - had lunch, sat in the garden for half an hour in the sunshine, came upstairs for a lie-down and a read... and have only just got up! Oh well, at least I should be well rested for Mum's birthday dinner this evening. Am going to make another cup of raspberry leaf tea.

Incidentally, can anybody here add me to the FB group if I message you details? I did message Boo, but I suspect she's got other things on her mind ;)

cinnamongreyhound · 07/04/2015 16:55

Not much else to do AnniaFausta, just waiting!

brummagem · 07/04/2015 17:05

All that talk of hooks and needles and the image of crocheting popped into my head Grin good luck everyone it sounds like things are progressing nicely. Very exciting! Flowers

skyra13 · 07/04/2015 17:06

Well I have an induction date! My BP seems to of settled so they are happy for things to happen on there own but just incase I am booked for an ok induction on the 19th!
Had 3rd sweep by consultant was not to bad today I am still 1cm but I am now in the centre and favourable not sure what that means lol
Another sweep booked for Friday then if that don't help I will need 2 more next week!
Come on baby its past your eviction date! :)

FiRaffe · 07/04/2015 17:15

Hope things are going well ladies in labour.

Just been to the doctors with the tendonitus in my wrist and he gave me an injection, which I promptly tried to pass out from. Now waiting for DH to come and pick me up!

BrixtonBunny · 07/04/2015 17:33

Quick update - water has been pouring out of me all afternoon, lost track of how many pads I've soaked now! Midwife came over and was happy with my blood pressure / wee / temperature / baby's heartbeat, told me to check my temperature every four hours but apart from that call them when contractions ramp up. So far they have been very irregular and infrequent.

Feeling a bit sick but have managed to eat some soup and toast and a biscuit for lunch so hopefully I'll have some energy reserves. My lovely best friend came over this afternoon to keep me company and distract me which was so nice of her.

Really hoping that labour kicks off overnight...!!

Cinnamon how frustrating that you have to wait around for space - hopefully they will be able to get things moving sooner rather than later. Hope you're feeling ok.

Skyra great news that you have a date to work towards now!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/04/2015 17:55

Just feeling down now BrixtonBunny, being monitored again as contractions have died down and she's even talking about giving me prostin if they are weak enough. So back to square one really! Wish I hadn't been contracting this morning and may have had a baby by now!

RL20 · 07/04/2015 18:01

Here's hoping it happens for you overnight then Brixton Grin.

Hope you're wrist is ok FiRaffe!

Yay for getting and induction date Skyra! You can officially start a countdown now Grin.

Brummagem I would much prefer midwives to use the term crocheting! Grin.

Well I've done nothing apart from the food shop today and I feel tired! Have just managed to make other half's dinner for when he gets back from work. Have just made a cottage pie which isn't too bad to make. Made a small one though just for him as I just can't manage full meals anymore! I'm just going to have chicken burger and chips. I though you were meant to want/have more calories during the third trimester but I probably ate more during the second trimester!

Siarie · 07/04/2015 18:09

I'm having contractions now and have lost ever more plug. Would be funny if she decided to go tonight.

RL I wasn't expecting her to be measuring 10lbs, I think they did the growth scan just so they could decide if she was big enough to induce early. Good thing they did otherwise she would be huge.

I'm expecting the measurements to be off a bit but my bump is super sore from all the extra fluid so maybe she is big it's hard to know.

Feels like she wants to come out now though.

smogsville · 07/04/2015 18:21

FiRaffe that's outrageous re the bastard yodel man.

Cinnamon and Brixton - thinking of you both.

RL - yes - the wees are constant. Then again I am quite thirsty so probably drinking more than usual.

Siarie sort the cats but don't clean for heaven's sake, sod the agents.

Wine my toenails are opposite of yours. their first outing in flip flops today and it wasn't pretty but it was v refreshing for me so I don't care. Don't think I'm meant to have them painted (ELCS) and can't be arsed to do them now only to have to remove it in ten days.

Annia well done on an excellent day's mat leave.

Good news on your date skyra, assuming nothing happens before then.

RL20 · 07/04/2015 18:28

Smog yes I suppose you're right, I've been drinking a lot more too, probably actually more than eating.

I tried to paint my toenails a couple of weeks ago, it wasn't happening! I'm tempted to ask my mum if she'd like to do it for me!

Can't believe how tired I feel considering I didn't wake up til 10am!

daholster · 07/04/2015 19:14

Just back from the park with dd and had a lovely time in the sunshine. Then we got an ice cream ShockGrin Dh got home half an he ago and said hi then said he was off to the loo and disappeared!!! He has just rung downstairs in a pathetic voice to say he was "just having a lie down while it (his nack) is comfortable". Why does this make me feel very angry??? IABU I know... But I wanted the loo and was waiting for him to come back and didn't put dd's dinner in cos I was being lazy and was going to ask him to chuck it in the oven on the way past. I don't want him sore and knackered, he probably needs to catch up on sleep and I should appreciate that. But I feel like I have dd all day tomorrow and he will be working from home so he is making the most of it a bit... Well, I just feel annoyed that he has disappeared!!! Anyway I'll wait for the loo. Dd wants cuddles cos Wallykazam is scary apparently...

daholster · 07/04/2015 19:19

Aha he has appeared. Obviously felt guilty... Blush

Tried to post a pic of my sore skin but it won't work. Not sure what to put on it that won't stop the bag sticking... But its quite sore and a bit weepy.

daholster · 07/04/2015 19:20

Gross eh? Such a sexy tummy Hmm any thoughts on what I could try that is non greasy?

FiRaffe · 07/04/2015 19:23

Aww daholster the park and ice cream sound good, but your DH needs to sort his back out!!!!

Hope things improve cinnamon and baby gets a move on too Brixton!

Wineandchoccy · 07/04/2015 19:27

daholster ouch that does look sore, would sudocrem help?

cinnamongreyhound · 07/04/2015 19:59

Contractions are back but still waiting to be moved to delivery suite to have water broken. Lady next to me isn't going to be induced today as there's no space so looks like a night of contracting and hoping they're doingg something as she hasn't been back to examine me since she said I was dilated enough to break my waters. Dh has to go home at 10 if I haven't been moved Sad

skyra13 · 07/04/2015 20:03

Cinnamon I really hope things move along for you!!
Feels such a long time away for me to be induced really hope these sweeps do something, getting abit of pink blood when I wipe seems slimy a lot different from the my last 2 sweeps.
Body had now decided to clear it all out to had to run to the loo twice like a mad women! I wonder if that's a sign of things going to happen!

Lauren82000 · 07/04/2015 20:15

I know what you mean Skyra I had a dodgy loo visit this morning then this evening I had to make a dash but turned out it was just a really loud trump and a bit of a gripey tum but nothing else shifted.
