Just got into bed with the massive pillow. Loving it already. Fingles crossed it will actually help me sleep. Expect full report in morning Smile

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 23/03/2015 22:21

Quick bedtime check in!

whereswaldo · 23/03/2015 22:25

Can't believe we re on thread 7 already! I wonder if we can break a record for most threads before the first birth.

I'd like a MLU water birth- they've got a unit attached to the hospital at Chelsea and Westminster which should be good.

Hare5260 · 24/03/2015 00:06

I'm taking hypnobirthing classes and would love for a water birth, that's the plan....until I go into labour, and it hurts, and I need drugs Blush

Tiredstressed · 24/03/2015 05:36

I am planning to go back to the hospital that I gave birth at last time. It has a brilliant MLU but if, as happened last time, everything does not go entirely to plan, has a delivery suite etc just down the corridor. It is further away than my local hospital (we have moved since last birth) but they were brilliant last time so we decided to go back there. I will just need to avoid rush hour next time!

THEworrywart · 24/03/2015 07:05

mrs everyone in my family who has had multiples has had to have a c section (which is every woman in my family who's given birth) except my nan but that was back in the day!

bonzo77 · 24/03/2015 07:13

Place marking. Jeez 3 pages already since yesterday!!!

bonzo77 · 24/03/2015 07:22

CS for me. 1st was emcs after failed (early) induction, 2nd a semi elective (elective because I had 2 days notice, semi because there was no other choice). A vba2c is unlikely to be safe for me or baby. I guess if I get to 36 weeks (i might not) I'll get a date for between 37 and 39. Would like to get to 36 weeks as have a 7 day uk holiday booked at 35 weeks!

DeladionInch · 24/03/2015 07:35

I'd love a water birth but everything slowed down when I got in the bath last time! this time I want to stay mobile, stay hydrated, and avoid pethidine as ds struggled to latch and was very sleepy.

lovesmycake · 24/03/2015 07:50

I just want it to be quicker this time :) Last time nothing went how I had hoped and it was still an amazing experience. Will probably try water birth again though last time I hated being in the water for some reason? They don't have gas and air at this hospital (goodness knows why) but I had a walking epidural last time and that was pretty sweet because I could stay mobile. So will just wait and see - my only stipulation is no 'continental' temperature checks I'm really adamant about that one and will be taking my own thermometer, it was the only part of the process where I felt out of control probably seems weird and minor but I feel really strongly about it!

GoooRooo · 24/03/2015 08:14

Oh God me too lovesmycake. Last time waters went 3am Monday and I gave birth 9pm Wednesday. I really, really hope it's quicker this time.

Snowflake15 · 24/03/2015 08:18

I slept like a baby last night with my Argos pillow! Thanks for the recommendation feel very refreshed today... We will see how I feel when I get to workWink

TheMidnightHour · 24/03/2015 08:54

I'm hoping for a water birth/labour in water at my local birth centre. Really like being in water & can't wait until the local outdoor pools open for the summer (May). The two hospitals nearest are in theory 25 & 35m away, but with traffic I know that it can be an hour or more and I really don't want to be (or worrying about being) stuck in the car like that! The BC is only 10m away, so as long as I stay low-risk...

Been catching up with the thread, glad to see it's still chatty after the FB group started. Speaking of - hating FB today. Trying not to tell people at work (temp job with some European travel, so risk of being let go high) but they are friending me on FB and I am not convinced the privacy settings really work :(

lovesmycake · 24/03/2015 09:11

I could friend you midnight and let you know what I can see?

Jessica32 · 24/03/2015 09:15

lovesmycake sorry to sound silly but what is a continental temp check? This is my first so don't know much.

lovesmycake · 24/03/2015 09:28

ah well I live in Norway so I'm guessing it's not something you need to worry about in the UK someone else can confirm or not, but here they take your temperature rectally. I hated it especially while having contractions and they tried to make out it was dangerous for the baby etc to not have my temp taken so this time I'm going to take my own thermometer and train DH to tell them to do one if they get insistent! I know it's a really minor thing but I have such good memories of labour except for this one thing!!

GoooRooo · 24/03/2015 09:39

Eeek! I can confirm they don't take your temp rectally in the UK.

Choccyhobnob · 24/03/2015 10:18

Oh blimey! Yes I could really do without having that during labour! lol

letshopetheyallgeton · 24/03/2015 10:33

Please add me to the stats. It's number 4. Consultant led due to previous MCs + crash CS. EDD 27 Sept. I'm 38.

GoooRooo · 24/03/2015 11:00

Welcome letshope! Glad to see someone else due at the end of Sept (I'm the 28th) and at the older end of the scale (I'm 40!)

A reminder for anyone hasn't yet joined the Facebook group. It now has 48 members. So far it's not slowed this thread down (thankfully) and the discussions there are slightly different. Most people are using both this and the FB group. It is COMPLETELY SECRET so no one will be able to see you have joined the group or that you have posted, commented or liked anything in the group.

Because of the settings, that means the only way to get into the group is to be invited by someone who is already a member, and you need to be their friend on Facebook.

If you would like to join, please send me a friend request and I will add you. You can delete me as a friend once I've added you to the group.

Also - I've just realised that many of you sent me inbox messages on FB. Sorry for not replying to them but I've only just seen them - they went in my 'other' box. All of you should have been added to the group. If anyone wants to send me a message, then a PM on here is a better way to get my attention!

Jessica32 · 24/03/2015 11:08

Gooroo Thank God! lovesmycake you poor thing, sounds horrible, and unnecessary, there are other ways to take a temp! My mum and sis are children's nurses and usually do it from their ear.

letshopetheyallgeton · 24/03/2015 11:26

Thanks, Gooroo - i'm also an Essex girl originally (from Ilford), though have lived in NW london since marrying. I see you have a DS of 3. I have one of 4 - will be a bit of a shock for him, as he's always been the baby.

GoooRooo · 24/03/2015 11:50

letshop I grew up in Ilford too! Now living in North Essex.

sauvblanc21 · 24/03/2015 11:50

PHEW! lovesmycake your poor thing! Seems like unnecessary torture! Too right in training your hubbo to stand up to them!!!
Gooo out of interest, how are the fb discussions different!? I'm intrigued :) but sticking with good ol' mn for time being x
