PS not judging those who move them out the room earlier. If that works for you and the baby that's something to be grateful for! The NHS recommendations are same room til six months (just mentioning for first timers) for safety reasons but just as I co slept against our hv advice plenty of people I know moved their baby to their own room early on.

Re pushchairs we use the same one at 21 months that we used for her at newborn. This seems quite unusual, a lot of people switch to a lightweight stroller. But we live near bumpy towpaths and off roady bits and I find umbrella folds too rickety for that kind of terrain. We do have a lightweight one just for holidays though.

Anyone got good maternity leggings recommendations? I just went a size up last time but they ended up being too baggy on my legs! Someone suggested Asos but I can't find any that agent cropped or leather look!

Whatabout · 11/04/2015 12:58

Try seraphine, they last really well.

Snowflake15 · 11/04/2015 13:19

It's a boyGrin

Shinjuku the leggings I got from new look and H&M seem to be washing and wearing ok. The Red Herring leggings are quite 'baggy' but better quality.

Toffeegirl39 · 11/04/2015 19:40

Congrats snowflake baby boys are ace! Wink

bonzo77 · 11/04/2015 20:10

Oooh I love little boys!

Meant to be going out tonight seeing people I've not seen in a while. Struggling to find something to wear: want to look either normal or pregnant. But not fat. Which is how I feel. Ugh.

shinjuku09 · 11/04/2015 20:20

Thanks for the leggings recommendations Smile

That's exciting snowflake!

Excitingtimesahead · 11/04/2015 22:01

Bonzo I know the feeling, I want a bigger bump to make it obvious rather than just eaten too much

Snowflake15 · 11/04/2015 22:08

Thanks guysGrin DP has been drunk celebrating all day! Finally just got home, I'm absolutely shattered, and now he's got more family round to drink profusely celebrateHmm

It was great to see him though after a cold reception at the 12 week scan, lovely to have an attentive Sonographer show us the chambers of the heart, the brain, the blood flow from the cord in and out, and a sneak peek in 4dGrin baby was still just chilling with his legs up and feet crossed, same as 12 weeks, hope he will be as chilled when he arrivesSmile

Agreed about wanting a bigger bump already bonzo and exciting - DP's family were all wanting to see the belly today and were shocked to see my non existent chubbump "ooh people at work must just think you've gained some weight"... Well yes they probably do thanksHmm

Anyway I'll stop ranting now, can you tell I'm hormonal and over tired!Envy

shinjuku09 · 12/04/2015 07:43

So glad this scan was a better experience for you snow. Completely hear you all on the lack of bump comments. It drives me mad that people feel compelled to comment on it constantly and never give a thought to how it might make you feel. (however I think I was equally insensitive before I became pregnant the first time!!).

banterbus · 12/04/2015 08:55

I have no real bump to speak of either, doesn't stop everyone from rubbing/grabbing/poking my stomach though!

Stanway · 12/04/2015 09:51

I love my asos leggings, 2-pack with black and navy.So soft! Very long though so anyone with shorter legs might struggle.

ambientolf · 12/04/2015 10:38

Has anybody got a 3 door car & can manage with getting a newborn in & out? I have a Mazda 2 & the doors are big however I'm a bit skeptical at how I'm going to manage without removing the car seat every time I want to get baby out (I have bought an isofix to make it easier). I'm thinking about buying a new car but not sure if I'm being OTT as we are saving for a house at the moment so spending a couple of grand if I part ex mine isn't ideal. My question is... What would you do? Is this a priority?

Treaclepie19 · 12/04/2015 10:56

ambient, we're making it a priority to change car. Although my car is tiny tiny.
I've taken my friends son out quite a few times and really struggled with his newborn car seat and fitting everything in the boot.
His new car seat now he is older is much easier but I couldn't cope with the idea of months and months of struggling.

However my car is only a Vauxhall Adam so less room than your mazda!

bonzo77 · 12/04/2015 11:05

ambient if you have an isofix base it's very easy to get the infant carrier in and out. You may want to do so anyway if you get a buggy which will take the seat. The problem
Will arise later when baby is too heavy to lift easily in the seat. Why don't you see how you go before changing the car?

We'll be changing cars. Cannot get 3 seats in the back of either of ours (golf and a Honda Accord). Planning on getting an s-max so heaps of space for giving lifts too.

Treaclepie19 · 12/04/2015 11:07

Forgot to say, my problem was fitting the car seat through the gap between the pushed forward seat and the car (if that makes sense).

OP posts:
bonzo77 · 12/04/2015 11:10

If you have a split back seat you can drop the spare side and put baby in through the boot. Not ideal though as you'd need to put the seat back up and put the parcel shelf back to make it safe to use the boot. Very inconvenient. Or disable the air bag and put the baby in the front. Though there's not usually an isofix in the front.

Jessica32 · 12/04/2015 11:11

maths congratulations on the house!

I agree that leggings and stretchy tops are most comfortable until it warms up a bit more and I can live in dresses.

Shinjuku I like my JoJo maman bebe over bump leggings. Comfortable and are washing well. Quite long on the leg for me so wrinkled a bit at the ankle but I don't mind. May be less good as it gets warmer though I guess.

I have the opposite problem bump wise, I'm massive! Will be 17 weeks tomorrow but loon further on. Keep being told it will be a big baby. Don't think this is a fact though, sounds like women vary hugely early on.

DeladionInch · 12/04/2015 11:31

I'd change car. I had a 5 door punto when ds was born, then moved up to a golf estate. the goof is awesome, no worries about chucking buggies and scooters in it - I got the 2 of us plus massive off road buggy plus camping gear in comfortably last year! tried moving ds's group 1 seat into my mate's 3 door Peugeot and it was a total nightmare. she's under strict instructions to work out how to move her seat next time Wink

DeladionInch · 12/04/2015 11:34

PS my estate cost £500 off auto trader Wink not going to eat too much of a house deposit. I'll go for something with 7 seats in a couple of years so we can fit 2 kids, 2 parents and a couple of friends in for trips out. might aim for a t4 or t5 van we can camp in as well

TheMidnightHour · 12/04/2015 15:33

We bought a new car as had a 3-door with back seats that couldn't accept in infant seat safely. It does take toddler size seats, and having schlepped my nieces around in it, I'd not want a 3 door until they can get themselves out. For me, it was the bending (I'm tall tho) plus the awkward (too small) gap between the folded-forward seat and the edge of the car door.

Had a stroke of excellent fortune today, and was given a bundle of cloth nappies & covers. Have about 12 newborn size, 16 larger, some assorted liners & 3 covers in each size. Could one of the more experience cloth nappy users tell me if this sounds like enough? Am thinking of starting from birth - at least when we're at home. Also thinking of buying a few cute covers (just because). Any recommendations?
