crib in our room at night, sling for daytime like ds. he was an appalling sleeper for the first 15m (is fab now) so I'm hoping karma might be kind and let me have a good one? please? Hmm

TheMidnightHour · 10/04/2015 07:11

Thank you for the tip Dela. I had a look at that one in Ikea previously & thought it seemed sturdy. The mattress is £15-40 extra, isn't it? I don't know if the cheapest one would do? I found a place in Germany where I can order a (Waldin) co-sleeper (w/ mattress) that works to 12mo (+/-, depending on size of baby - it's a similar style to the Ikea one) for EUR80 (£58). P&P is approx £20, not so bad. So thought I'd treat myself :) But your recommendation is making me want another look at the Ikea one because just one cot then a bed would be handy.

ovuma DP was eyeing a chameleon up in MC at the weekend! Was it the mobility you liked or perhaps the way the baby sat?

what I hadn't thought of the baby waking you up, apart from the obvious times. DP's a light sleeper...hmm, shall I warn him to make up the spare bed?

I do find this thread incredibly useful, even if I don't comment all that often! It's great to hear so many different thoughts on things. Most days the only person I talk to who knows I'm expecting is DP - and you lovely lot :)

We also had to move dd into her own room earlier than recommended Blush (think she was about 4-5wks). She was so noisy! She would also cry (and still does) when she was still asleep. We had the angelcare monitor too though which was great.
We had a large moses basket that we bought up/downstairs every morning/evening. I think the cribs are beautiful but as we still have the moses basket, I can't really justify buying one now as we managed just fine. Think she was moved into cot by about 4 months.

DeladionInch · 10/04/2015 08:33

the crib was mine - reduce, reuse, recycle Wink

Jessica32 · 10/04/2015 08:33

Choccy I read in my pregnancy book that you can have back pain from around 6 weeks. To do with soft ligaments rather than weight on your front.

Ovum I've ordered a Bugaboo C from John Lewis. Always thought that's what I would go for since I worked in a nursery shop as a student 13yrs ago and they first arrived in the UK. It's good to hear they are good from a mum who's used one though, nothing beats that.

lovesmycake · 10/04/2015 09:20

We used the bassinet attachment on the pram like a moses basket for DS first couple of months then moved him into the dependable IKEA cot. This time I'm treating myself DD to a moses basket for a couple of reasons, the bassinet attachment has been in our basement which makes me feel weird about using it for a newborn (DH thinks I'm mad the basement is warm, dry, ventilated etc) also and I'm not sure if this bit will make me sound silly I think it will be good for DS to be gentle if there is a little safe cocoon to put DD in like a specific place just for her that he never used?

My random endorsement would be a bouncy chair, we had the babybjorn one which is pricier then most but has a really good design that seemed to work on getting any baby to calm down we got a lot of use out of it compared to our friends cheaper ones.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 10/04/2015 11:38

Sorry posting in instalments as on the app and can't read back through posts as I go to remind me what to say!
Ds slept in our room until he was 6 months. When he actually slept he didn't disturb us at all. His sleep was pretty poor though and I couldn't have coped keep tramping through to another room in my sleep deprived state. In the day the only place he would sleep was on somebody. Even being pushed in the buggy or driven in the car he seldom dropped off. Not wanting to put the frighteners on first-timers but be prepared for all eventualities! You may get a baby who will happily drop off in bouncer or be transferred to Moses basket etc, but you might not! In which case a sling will become your best friend!

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 10/04/2015 11:40

Hmm I say posting in instalments, except my first instalment has vanished?!
Was just saying to Midnight that we have the Uppababy Vista, it's fab, still plenty big enough at 18 months and the basket is really big.

Maths88 · 10/04/2015 12:34

Offer accepted on house! Excited but nervous! This is our first purchase and I have to admit to being a bit clueless!

This house won't be our forever house but it's 4 bedrooms so room for visitors and it was right at the bottom of our price bracket so pretty chuffed that we got something so nice for the price!

Maths88 · 10/04/2015 12:37

On the subject of where baby will sleep I'm considering a chicco next to me for in our room. Anyone had one?

Also considering getting a tiny love 3 in 1 rocker napper anyone had one before?

Aiming for 6 months in with us but we shall see how it goes.

Maths88 · 10/04/2015 12:39

Pram wise we are getting the bugaboo buffalo - a gift from my mum - very excited about it!! This is the first grandchild for four sets of grandparents (all divorced and remarried) so it's going to be very spoilt.

Baby also still has 4 great grandparents living so he's going to be overwhelmed with gifts!

Back to work on Monday - no idea where these two weeks have gone - best do some work!

Don't know why I've posted this in three posts. Sorry for the essay!

bonzo77 · 10/04/2015 14:48

We'll use the bugaboo bee (2009) we had for ds1, with buggy board for ds2. We do have an ancient hand me down p&t double if ds2 prefers, though we only used it for a few weeks last time.

Where will baby sleep? Will probably use the Moses basket for day time naps and might buy a co sleeper cot for night time. Though I suspect this one will be grabbing naps on the move due to school / nursery runs and having a house to renovate.

I had a katie sapling crib that my friend lent me with Ds. We will def use again, ds used it for 5 1/2 months before being moved into a cot in his own room.

We are going to buy the baby jogger double city mini GT. As ds will only be just over 2.

Planning on buying a sling for baby too.

Meinthecorner · 10/04/2015 20:30

Hello just catching up after being away all week. The baby will probably go into the Troll bedside crib I bought second hand last time. The moses basket might stay downstairs. We have a McLaren buggy that can lie flat so it can go in there unless my son needs it in which case we have a Caboo sling which I will probably use most of the time.

Excitingtimesahead · 10/04/2015 21:46

Dh just felt our little teacake move for the first. It's much earlier this time, last time I was at least 28wks before dh could feel the kicks.

So special

DoNotDenyMe · 10/04/2015 21:56

That's great Exciting Smile
I got a really strong kick /movement last night- if dh had've been around he could've def felt it. Oh well... back to small flutters/bubble pops this evening!

Treaclepie19 · 10/04/2015 22:01

How exciting ladies :)
I've still not really felt anything. Thought I felt flutters at 15 weeks for a few days. I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow, at night I think i feel something but I could be imagining it!

Excitingtimesahead · 10/04/2015 22:32

Your prob not imagining it treacle, they start as small bubbles etc then get stronger.

I'm 18wks, feel baby everyday. More so in evening, normally small bubbles/fluttering. But a few times big kicks felt on the outside too, it was these kicks that dh felt tonight.
