I want mlu although no reason I shouldn't tbh. I shall just show up there in labour if necessary. Hospital is a pita to get to, 10 miles further away along country roads, and parking is a fortune!

ovumahead · 06/04/2015 12:27

Commander do your research on vbac before your appointment! They will try to freak you out with stats but don't let them. What was the reason for your cesarean before? And how long ago was it?

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 06/04/2015 12:31

Thanks Deladion. Commander I'd seen them too and will probably get in touch with them. Vale of White Horse do have a scheme but info is very flaky.

monkey is there any chance that your mortgage company will let you take a 'payment holiday', where you reduce to interest only (assuming your repayment). Might take the pressure off? I get a good package but have to pay back.anything over SMP if I don't return for at least a year so trying to not go too crazy.

Went through my wardrobe last night weeding out the clothes that now don't fit, which are a lot! Taking 2 weeks off work from this Friday, and I suspect that the work clothes that sort of fit now definitely won't by the time I get back.

Debating how much (or how little) additional maternity wear to buy, especially for work. I have to wear smart / business casual so leggings and tunic or tshirt and trousers aren't really an option. Thinking a couple of dresses might be the way to go.

DeladionInch · 06/04/2015 14:08

Depending how you carry, but I was (and will be this time from the looks of things) in normal tops for the majority of my pregnancy. Trousers, however, need wide waist bands to be comfortable. The last thing you need is more pressure on your bladder! Primark plain tops are long and stretchy, so if you can get away with it I suggest those with smart maternity trousers plus normal jacket open over the top. And a couple of dresses. You may or may not need maternity tights either now or later.

My c section was 3 years ago in May. DD had her head turned so she was looking over her shoulder, so no way was she coming out on her own. They tried ventouse and forceps and she was having none of it. I have no regrets and it set the stage for her whole personality (calmly and politely does exactly what she wants to Shock) but in some ways it's a shame as it was nothing to do with how I pushed - indeed the surgeons were worried she'd cooperate without warning and come cannonballing out!

I had a great physical recovery and I really was treated well at all points but I have, unsurprisingly, PTSD.

We'll see. Had a long chat with DH and feel a bit less anxious now.

CommanderShepard · 06/04/2015 18:21

Oops - I also meant to say that the MLU is 5 floors up from delivery suite, so I wouldn't have far to go if there was a problem! That said there are only 3 rooms in the MLU and they fill up quickly so it could be out of anyone's hands anyway. Theoretically there's also Wallingford if they did let me go midwifery-led but I live so close to the JR that it would be daft to spend 30 mins in the car in labour when I don't have to.

On the clothing front I wear a uniform to work as am an IT engineer. I've got about a week's worth of wear still left in my shirts... not sure what we're going to do there. Probably wear company colours and leave it at that - I'm off site visits for the duration anyway so not really a problem.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 07/04/2015 07:27

Commander I'm spires as well...if there's room! Really like the idea that there's the consultant led unit just a lift ride away if need be...

monkeymoonpig · 07/04/2015 09:24

Hi littlemouse

Was preparing myself to speak with boss until DP suggested waiting a little - i am only 18wks today after all. After having a little dilemma i think he's probably right (as always!) and will give it a couple of weeks until after 20wk scan. Thanks for all your advice tho, will def be using it all x

Snowflake15 · 07/04/2015 13:00

monkey I'm trying to hold off til 20 weeks to tell boss too... It's getting harder now im only 15+5 but I'm getting a bit chubby and having lots of appointments - also another lady at work has announced a few weeks ago that she's also due in Sept! Hard to keep my mouth shut! And I wish I could openly admit I'm suffering from baby brain rather than just look like I've turned into an idiotBlush

Maths88 · 07/04/2015 13:33

Who do I need to message to join the Facebook group? Think it's time now - there'll always be something to wait for before I join!

Bought a few little clothes today now that we know the sex - very exciting!

Has anyone else bought much?

DeladionInch · 07/04/2015 13:51

Maths, message GooRoo.

I've got loads, mainly because I've been snapping up fb bargain nappies! Finished crocheting longies last night, and have started collecting tee shirts as they're tough to find in dinky sizes. Oh, and some bamboo breast pads and a tens machine! Just need pp pads now, hopefully a friend is making me some :o

ovumahead · 07/04/2015 17:39

What fb group are you on for nappies?

DeladionInch · 07/04/2015 17:53

most of them I think Blush fr me if you like and I'll pop you in later

ditzzy · 07/04/2015 18:48

I've been sitting in the garden to work at home today and can't stop sneezing! I don't usually get hay fever (although did randomly one year) surely hay fever isn't a pregnancy symptom?! Anyone know Grin ??

thecrab · 07/04/2015 19:04

hey ladies, I've been playing with my doppler today and took a video. Before I started recording the bpm did go up to 160 but as soon as I started the bpms dropped (typical).

Do you think this is my baby? I'm so confused by all the other noises! And really sorry the audio is so quiet, it was super loud in real loud.

Hope the link works, I put the video to private and will be deleting it soon also

ovumahead · 07/04/2015 20:16

I can't see the video because it's private...

ovumahead · 07/04/2015 20:16

dela do you mean friend you on fb or here? Sorry being a bit thick..!

DeladionInch · 07/04/2015 20:45

On fb. Then I can just type your name in the relevant boxes!

BeautyBoo · 07/04/2015 20:54

crab I can't see the video because it's private. There are lots of different noises when you use the doppler as you can hear all of the fluid, etc whoosing around but when you find the baby it will sound like a galloping horse/train. When I first started using mine I couldn't find baby very well as I got confused by all of the other noises and could only hear baby faintly (probably because he was so small too!) but now I know what I'm looking for it takes me a couple of minutes to find him but then it sounds really clear!

How far gone are you? I'm now 15+4, I didn't hear the heartbeat really clearly until about 13 weeks, it was quite faint before.

I looked on YouTube for some videos to hear what others sounded like when I was confused about mine which was quite helpful. Are you in the FB group? I can post my video in there if you'd like to see?

thecrab · 07/04/2015 21:02

changed it to unlisted, I'm sure that'll work.

BeautyBoo I'm 16 weeks today, found it fine yesterday with a nice 160 bmp, just a bit paranoid because I've decided to start running again after a month off and I don't want to harm the baby but I love to run and was going mad and depressed without it. Also I don't have FB anymore, I could just make a new account just for this though...

thecrab · 07/04/2015 21:08

and link again in case...

if it doesn't work then no worries =P

CommanderShepard · 07/04/2015 21:26

To my very untrained ears it sounds like you found it but the baby kept moving away, though it came back at the end.

Obviously that's not a medical opinion!
