I think it was also a wiring issue Jessica - with my nice stiff cup wired ones I could hide pretty much anything of any size inside, but these wobbly non-wired things I've got now actually have to be filled with the right amount of boob in the right places to have any chance of working! Grin

Actually she moved the strap further down my back and said if I got the smaller back sizes it should stay there where it's meant to be... Which makes the front stay put too and the wobbly looking non-wired things then offer perfect support. I'd definitely say the JL fitters know what they're doing! She also told me to come back 2 weeks before due date to get fitted for a nursing bra Smile

Maths88 · 30/03/2015 14:54

All good. Heard hearbeat so no I can relax a bit.

Need to get properly fitted but I was a 40 GG before so goodness knows what I am now!

ditzzy · 30/03/2015 14:57

Great news Maths! It's lovely to hear isn't it Grin

Maths88 · 30/03/2015 15:16

It is, I was nearly crying when I heard it - such a relief!!

monkeymoonpig · 30/03/2015 15:41

I seem to have phases of feeling baby move - sometimes a lot then nothing for a day or so. Ive become pragmatic in myn
old age - im not slim (14/16) so theres a bit of padding in the way lol (not a bad thing with a curious toddler who is trying to understand why there is a baby in mummy's tummy, hence lots of tummy cuddles), plus - as awful as it sounds - should the worst happen at this stage, there's absolutely nothing I or anyone else can do about :-/
But on the positive side! Today im 17wks and time is flying by :-D. MW again 9th April for BP check.

DeladionInch · 30/03/2015 15:56

there's a brilliant book called There's A House In My Mummy (or something like that) which explains it well for toddlers

I'll relax a bit at 24 weeks trying to be pragmatic for now

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 16:16

Maths I'm really pleased for you, after all we're supposed to try and enjoy it. It is our own personal miracle I think.

ditzzy that makes sense about your previous bras hiding/ accommodating more. Once you're post pregnancy and breastfeeding, you may also be suprised by how much more comfortable wires feel once you're in the right size. Not for a while though for any of us. I also got told to go for nursing bras about 2 wks before DD. They have to use an educated guess a bit, but don't want to have to go bra shopping within days of birth! My poor friend went 3.5 weeks early and had to send her mum in to do her best as she had nothing that came close to fitting.

elio · 30/03/2015 16:39

Great to hear people

Touchscreen keyboard fail...
Great news from everyone's appointments!

Mine went well, was nervous after the CVS wondering at the back of my mind if something had gone wrong. However, midwife put the Doppler on my stomach and got a heartbeat on contact with skin! Good skills on her part! It is amazing how fast it goes and you get a good idea of how much they ate wriggling about by how the signal comes and goes. I think it is movements I can feel- I agree it is a bit like a washing machine sensation rather than kicking and makes me feel a bit queasy sometimes like I'm moving when I'm not..

Some confusion as to where the top of the uterus is as she said it was almost above belly button when not quite lying down.

Having problems cycling as reaching the dropped bars seems to push everything onto my bladder :s + wiggly feeling...luckily very rural round here!

DeladionInch · 30/03/2015 17:09

I had to get measured with a 6day old squish in tow, luckily my mum came too! dp did a sterling job grabbing Emma Jane sleep ones which are an approximate size from the nearest department store! I don't change much so have gone for nursing bras from now, just a cup and back size up from normal. will get measured properly at 38 weeks if no baby by then Wink

Toffeegirl39 · 30/03/2015 18:37

Hi all, re boobs and sorry if too much information but anyone else suddenly got realty tender nipples?? Very sore to touch, and a tiny amount of discharge too. Hope this is normal at 18 weeks? Anyone know? Not my first baby but don't recall this in the past. Boobs were super sore in first trimester, but until this last week or so have been ok since I was 13 weeks or so.

ovumahead · 30/03/2015 19:40

I'm underwires... Is this bad? I just find them more comfy. Plus I have enormous boobs (36hh currently) so not wired just make me look awful. Shall I get softer ones? Will do for nursing...

Toffeegirl39 · 30/03/2015 19:53

Ovum I was told underwire can affect milk ducts and dig into the breast tissue but by m&s who others have said are unreliable. Not sure tbh!

shinjuku09 · 30/03/2015 19:54

toffee I'm glad you posted that about your nipples (only on a Mumsnet thread would that sound ok!!) because mine have gone exactly the same at fourteen weeks. They've been tender all the way through this one and I even leaked some milk St the start (stopped bf last June) but now they're very tender and look a bit weird coloured at the ends!

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 30/03/2015 20:03

Toffee mine have also done this tonight!
Felt like first trimester boobs when i took my bra off! Ouch!

Toffeegirl39 · 30/03/2015 20:28

Thank you! So relieved it's normal.
So .. Another question for you all, I've had a sore blistering gum under one particular tooth, dentist prescribed corsodyl gel and mouthwash. The sore gum is no worse or better, but after 4 days my mouth in General feels really sore - like I've burnt it on food and also my tongue is sore and I can't taste anything. Should I stop using it? Anyone else with dental 'issues ' - never had this before!! Confused

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 20:32

ovum my understanding is the same as Toffee's, John Lewis said they're not recommended and I also read they can press on developing milk ducts which isn't good. How much of an issue it is though who knows, there's a lot of 'be on the safe side' advice during pregnancy. I found my wires started digging in and I needed a bigger size. Just went for comfort and if I got wires and went up again I'd be in the same position with them digging in.

Whatabout · 30/03/2015 21:14

You can get wired maternity bras and as long as they are well fitting and the wire doesn't compress breast tissue (should sit flat against rib cage) it is fine.

Toffeegirl39 · 30/03/2015 21:25

Where have you seen those whatabout?

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 30/03/2015 21:51

Toffee that sounds like geographic tongue, not the gum but the burn feeling and lack of taste. I think it is common when you're run down and lasts about a week on average. If you Google it you'll find out more but you can also ask your dentist. Bland foods are recommended.

Toffeegirl39 · 30/03/2015 22:01

Thank you squirrel- I wondered if it was a reaction to the Corsodyl?

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 30/03/2015 22:07

It could be that too I think, I'm no expert! Wink It just sounded similar to something a couple of friends have had recently.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 30/03/2015 22:09

Can't do proper links as on the app but this page says your symptoms are a common side effect of Corsodyl.
www.nhs.uk/medicine-guides/pages/MedicineOverview.aspx?medicine=Corsodyl mouthwash

bonzo77 · 30/03/2015 22:12

toffee I'm a dentist! I would say stop using the corsdayl if you think it's not helping the original problem and is causing a new one. If you want to rinse change to Peroxyl or hit salt water. The original sore could be a number of things. A straight forward ulcer would be starting to settle now. The other options depend on its exact location but could be a dental abscess, a periodontal abscess or a pregnancy epulis. The last sounds terrible but actually is easily resolved. The first two less easily, but it absolutely can be done, even while pregnant. In fact the second trimester is considered the best (safest and easiest) time during pregnancy / BF to get it done.

bonzo77 · 30/03/2015 22:13

Not hit, hot!
