Another day down. Starting to feel like I have a bit more energy now. Just in time for the holidays and then the great revision month at work! Still don't feel hugely pregnant although bump is becoming more obvious.
We've started looking at stuff we'll need and it's all rather overwhelming particularly as the house we're moving into is now 98% finished.

ovumahead · 29/03/2015 10:41

Hi everyone! Bit late joining you all when you're on thread 7 already, better late than never! I'm 16 weeks with my second child, ds is 7 years now so quite a gap! Very excited as didn't think we'd ever have another child.

Hope you're all getting on well... Trying to read through this thread but it's taking ages!

Cornberry · 29/03/2015 10:53

Welcome ovumahead :)
havetea I'm wel jel you've been able to feel movement for weeks. I'm 18+4 and nothing yet. Trying not to worry but I can't understand how I could not feel it. It should be about 15cm long by now. Where is it?! It seems amazing to have something so big and a give inside your abdomen and not feel it moving...

I always wanted to do the NCT classes but after speaking to the midwife it seems like there are lots of classes for free around here.
3 hour birthing class at hospital plus 2 hour optional class about active birthing and another about water births.
There is also a 7 week birth and beyond class at the local children's centre which I hope will introduce me to some local mums. My DH hates meeting new people so I would have to force him to do the NCT anyway.

DeladionInch · 29/03/2015 13:31

For anyone even partially thinking they might consider breastfeeding, pop along to your nearest bosom pals type group - most children's centres have them - at around 30something weeks. The NHS class was OK, but only talking to real people feeding real babies will you get a sense of the realities of it :)

ambientolf · 29/03/2015 13:44

Do surestart do antenatal classes? There is one a 2 minute walk from my house x

DeladionInch · 29/03/2015 13:52

Mine last time were NHS run but held in the sure start centre. Definitely worth asking, although my mw booked me onto them at my 28(?) week appointment last time

Toffeegirl39 · 29/03/2015 19:18

Thank you for replies. £350!!!its my 3rd, wasn't going to bother, but DPs first. Think will see what is free instead as I cant spare that kind of money.

Cornberry · 29/03/2015 19:38

Thanks for the reassurance llama will try not to obsess over it!

monkeymoonpig · 30/03/2015 04:46

Wide awake Sad blasted cough is just awful. Looking forward to a day at work Sad

ovumahead · 30/03/2015 05:17

Oh no! How horrible. Can you take the day off and relax and try to get better? Bugs always hit us much harder when pregnant. Make sure you look after yourself!

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 08:34

havetea your uterus will be out of your pelvis now but I think everyone seems to show and carry differently. I seemed to have a bump quicker than I'd expected. My booked talked about v slim mums and 2nd timers showing early. I'm a size 12 so not huge but definitely not v slim! If I lie on my back (not when I've just eaten) and feel my lower tummy with the flat of my fingers I can feel my womb, maybe you could try that?

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 08:36

Also, my mum told me that it is up to your tummy button around 20 weeks.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 30/03/2015 10:06

Hello all!
I'm an early shower it would seem (normally a size 2-4 which fits the slim comment)
Hiked a section of the great wall today and lots of people spotted the bump and gave me thumbs ups- Chinese women apparently become very sedentary when pregnant rather than climb up.a bloody great hill!

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 30/03/2015 11:15

I seem to show on an evening but with all my normal clothes on for work you can tell at all.
Im 17 weeks tomorrow.
Ive also been feeling little flutterings every now and again but nothing today so far.
I thought I would be feeling them more with this being my 2nd.
3 weeks today til my 20 week scan. cant wait.

lovesmycake · 30/03/2015 11:41

Had my 18 weeks anomaly scan today it was very thorough, absolutely amazing to see the four chambers of her tiny little heart :) She is all healthy and confirmed to be a little girl so I might give in and buy some of the adorable little girl stuff I have seen around. :)

elio · 30/03/2015 11:47

16 week appointment today (or 16+5 in this case) almost missed it as wrote it onto the wrong day on the calendar..
Hoping that she will try and listen to the heartbeat. Can feel the top of my uterus about 4-5cm below my belly button.
I would say have been feeling something going on, but as I have never dine this before I don't know if I am just imagining things!

ditzzy · 30/03/2015 12:36

Same here elio, I'm sure I can feel something (a bit like a washing machine effect) somewhere inside me from time to time - I just can't be sure I'm not imagining it and really can't connect it to a baby moving!!

I went to be properly measured for a bra at the weekend (John Lewis) went in wearing my relatively comfortable 38D that I upgraded my normal 36B to when I started spilling out of it in January... She took one look and said we'd start trying at 34FF!!!! Nevermind the magical shrinking back size, FF? Really? We compromised and ended up on 36F, she reckoned I could get away with a 36E but needed the space to grow a just little more... I now understand the problem a friend of mine has being out of normal range as all the pretty (cheap) non-wired ranges seemed to go up to E.

So I'm still in shock, but remarkably comfortable again today Grin

Maths88 · 30/03/2015 12:52

Amazing lovesmycake - still got 4 weeks til my scan but can wait to see that level of detail.

Got my 16 week appt in an hour but I'm already at the hospital - I get anxious about being late for things but even by my standards this is silly. I really hope they try to listen to heartbeat but I also know I'll panic if they try and can't so now trying to decide which is best - if they even offer!

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 13:21

15 weeks today and had an appt with the obstetrician to check a couple of things. Thought I'd be in and out but she was so lovely and took time and then listened to the heartbeat. So great to hear it for the 1st time, though seen it on the scan. I said I didn't think they always listened in case they didn't find it. She said the community mw's don't necessarily in case it causes worry, but said she was lucky in the hospital as she could always just send me next door for a scan.

ditzzy I went to JL yesterday too, not many places I trust to measure properly. I had my boob size shock when I got measured properly age 16. Had been in 34C (everyone seemed to be then) and left in a 30E. I'm a size 12(UK) but my ribs have always been a bit slim compared to my cup size. The choice of bras is always difficult but then it was non existent (17 yrs ago)! Recently I've been in a 30/32FF but yesterday got a 34G. Very happy to be comfortable though, been dragging out buying new ones for weeks. One of the ones I bought is a nursing one. I won't be able to use it for that as I will go up in size again, but looked at them to give me a bigger choice of supportive, non-wired in my size that weren't completely grannyish. Doesn't matter if I never un-clip the cups.

lastnight Very impressed with your effort! Still feeling v lazy here.

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 13:29

Also ditzzy it's very common for women to be wearing a bit to big in the band and too small in the cup. In theory the band needs to be pretty firm as the majority of the support should come from there, not the straps, so the weight of your boobs hangs on your shoulders.

Jessica32 · 30/03/2015 13:30

so the weight of your bloobs isn't hanging on your shoulders.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 30/03/2015 14:08

Just back from 16 week midwife appointment all well apart from ketones in urine so I got my wrist slapped for not eating regularly enough. Did hear the heartbeat though so that was nice Smile

misssmilla1 · 30/03/2015 14:19

Nice to hear all the good news from recent scans.

I need to follow your ladies lead and get myself measured for new bras, I've been putting it off as I can't decide whether to go now, or put up with uncomfortableness til I can get to a John Lewis or Bravissimo in a couple of weeks time.

Started packing away work clothes last night that don't fit anymore. Currently debating on when to tell my boss; have my 16 week scan next Thursday so want to wait until then, but then I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks the day after. Would that be bad form??
