Moomin LOL at still looking for a Marine! Snowboard instructor sounds pretty yum to me though, Dh is in the Navy.

Pebble that is what i normally do, they come in from school and leg it up to their rooms when ive been cleansing, i hear shrieks and wails float down the stairs

Poor wavedancer, hope she is ok. How lucky we are.

Show of hands good luck with your maternity stuff trying on session. Did you manage to eat your muffins with bacon?

Ive just made chocolate fudge, so delicious. We have fireworks tomorrow on the patch so instead of cake (which i normally make) i thought fudge would be easier to handle. That is of course if i dont eat it all first

pebblemum · 04/11/2006 15:50

LG&T i think the hair dye has gone to your brain lol it was aprilmeadow that was saying about cleaning the kids rooms while they are out but i'll let you off, you are pregnant after all and are probably too excited at the prospect of dh coming home to concentrate

We have got a skip coming in 2wks so i'll be having a major clearout. OUr garden is full of decorating crap left over from when we did the boys room in the summer plus i added more to the pile when i threw out almost everything from our kitchen (just so i could replace it all ). Im already planning on getting rid of ds2 for the day while ds1 is at school and sorting out their toys. There is nothing worse than having a 3yr old watching as you throw their old toys away, makes me feel sooo guilty but if im going to find room for half the things ive got them for xmas then some old toys just have to go.

Good news on the spot front it seems to be going, i can sit down properly again hurrah. Lucky really as i feel so knackered that sitting is all i want to do at the moment. I was thinking of going to sleep but i had to come on the pc to order a new golf club for dh and decided to have a chat. We are off to the ILs later for the fireworks, should be fun. As long as i dont fall asleep

Feel so sad for wavedancer, i looked for the thread yesterday but couldnt find it. Hope she is ok

jellybeans · 04/11/2006 16:22

Hi everyone. I also feel very sad about Wavedancer, hope she is OK.

I am worried as I have taken 3 sachets of calpol for a severe migraine over last 2 days. Do you think it will be OK? (weakest pain relief i could find)

I also ate quite abit of liver when only about 3 wks preg as i was anaemic and trying to up iron levels. Bubs was a (nice) surprise.

I haven't told hardly anyone as my parents and MIL are quite negative about big families even though they are always saying how well we have done with kids and they well looked after etc. I have started studying again and will obviously be taking a break. It's horrid that I have to hide it. Also, I was lucky to survive my boys birth (PPH) and they may think I am selfish to risk it again. They were abit neg with #3.

On the subject of lumpy matresses I am always sleeping on the lumpy bits and ours is very knackered! Knwoing my luck my waters will break on it if we get a new one so will have to get used to lumping it for now!

pebblemum · 04/11/2006 17:01

jellybean i cant see calpol doing any harm. Ive been told its ok to take paracetamol while pg as i also suffer with migranes. So im sure calpol will be ok after all its made for kids so cant be that strong.

moomimin · 04/11/2006 18:29

You can take paracetamol abosoultly safely in pregnancy. Take it in it's usuall form up to 1000mg 4-6 hrly. unless of course there is another reason you can't take paracetamol but it is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

scootermum · 04/11/2006 18:29

Hi all,
Has taken me ages to catch up with all the postings..Welcome to all the newbies!
Largegandt-I have a black full length strapless dress that I made from a vogue pattern when pg with dd, for a ball.I had a 7 month bump then but you would get away with a smaller bump easily. You are welcome to borrow that if you like-size 10 to 12, so should fit you ok-and I wont be using it any time soon-let me know if you want me to send it if you want to give it a go..It got me into an edition of North Derbyshire life too-which is my one and only claim to fame!
Congrats on all the positive scans-although I only had time to skim-so forgive me if im short on detail.
Still ages till mine...
Well that might be good news re your flat then tyg. Will keep everything crossed!Lovely Wagamama.YumYum.It hasnt made it as far as Hertfordshire yet-at least not my bit!
Have lovley firewroky weekends all-remember to keep your fireworks in a tin and all that! And wrap up warm. Its ruddy freezing in our house!

moomimin · 04/11/2006 18:54

Bought a new matress. Yeah....... dh is going to pick it up after work on Tuesday. Only 3 more nights to sleep on the old one. Actually dh was very good we got the choice down to 2 in the end and dh had the final say and actually chose the cheaper one. £350 later though. I didn't think that was too bad? It was a sight, we were hopping from bed to bed lying, bouncing, sitting on them all. Gonna pay out that sort of money it's got to be right though. Felt like a big kid for a while it was quite fun. dd did manage to pull a unit over on her whilst we were bed hopping. Very bad parents, poor thing she really did cry, but she is also cutting her back teeth so is very miserable anyway. It didn't hurt her luckily, cor it's scary to think what they do if you take your eyes off them for a second.

Just watching x-factor ray was brilliant tonight!!! I thought anyway, but I like swing.

Hope you've all had a great Saturday, eating muffins baking fudge...... ummmmm that sounds yummy. Trying on Maternity clothes and everything else you have done.

Wish we were in the UK this weekend. I really miss Nov 5th. Dh bought a few fireworks for the garden but it's not the same as the bonfires, hat, gloves, scarf, hot chilli or hog roast and the general atmosphere. Have a fab but safe time all of you going to dispalys and partys and think of me please cause I'm very of you.

MKG · 04/11/2006 19:16

I know what you mean about mattresses. DH and I slept on the sofa together (we have a big rap around sofa) because our bed was the bed that I grew up with. When I was 7 month pregnant with ds we decided to buy a new bed and mattress as old one was getting small fast. I haven't spent another night on the couch for 19 months. Dh however has spent many a night.

moomimin · 04/11/2006 20:34

Oh bless, MKG I hope it's your dh's choice to be on the sofa Was very tempted with a sofa too today, ours is ok, but it is cream leather, cleans up very well but it get's filthy again really quickly. Have a cat (beanz) that likes to leave poor prints across the backs too.

Would like a chocolate brown leather one now I think but dh doesn't like hard leather sofas and the soft comfy leather seems to be quite hard to find over here. They are very expencive here too, you can get a really good deal in the UK on sofas but I can't see any deals here. Sorry waffeling away.

MKG · 04/11/2006 20:37

No he chooses to. After two years on the sofa it's hard to change. He also works 14 hours a day (it's a lot but it allows me to stay home with ds). when he comes home late he needs to wind down a little, and as I am usually asleep or trying to sleep he watches tv and falls asleep. Even when he says I'm going upstairs I know he'll fall asleep down there. Besides the sofa is special to us because both of our children were conceived there (well ds we're not sure, but this one definitely was).

moomimin · 04/11/2006 21:00

Thats nice MKG. I've just noticed there is a moomin on another thread, I know they wouldn't let me have it when I tried to set that as my name but I wasn't sure it was activly used. Bit too close for comfort, might have to have a big think on a change of name.

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 04/11/2006 21:29

LOL Pebble, so sorry i meant April, think the hairdye is the final straw really always been a bit scatty! Am very excited about Dh though, only one more sleep to go.....

Jellybeans paracetemol fine to take, as lots of us have said. Wont harm the baby at all, the midwife would tell you the same. Liver has only just been put on the dont eat list, i wouldnt worry at all.

The lumpy mattress thing has me lol, i just went to dream beds this week and ordered a new bed, hoorah! Have a very old one and only a double. Too many kids means a very needed kingsize, cant wait for it to arrive

Scooter the dress sounds great thank you sooo much. How do we give out emails on here without being discovered? I dont mind you ladies knowing but there could be anyone looking i suppose.

Moomin it was Abba tonight on Xfactor it was brill, we love it in this house!

Mkg you werent watchin TV i hope when baby was concieved on the couch

jessinwa · 05/11/2006 02:16

well, it was so fun last time that i decided we nee another one. here is a link to the new questionnaire .
i am a little envious of the new mattresses around here. sleep has been eluding me lately. perhaps i should talk dh into upgrading our cheapo mattress. ah the luxury.
my mama called me earlier to tell me she got dh and i tickets to see 'little britain' live! i am so excited. it is so strange though to think that i now have tickets to an event in perth, where i will be living. i will be living there. weird.
dh has to go back to france because the STUPID homeland security decided to hold the shipment of stuff for inspection that he was supposed to work on last time. dumb dumb dumb! i will be a very happy gal when this stupid president is out of office and we can go back to not being scared of every damn thing. i am really not a supporter of the way things have been going around here. so many stupid people making decisions. i don't care if i ruffle feathers with statements like this. i love my country. i love it enough to admit that things are not right at the moment and we have to fix it, fast. sorry, rant over. we vote on tuesday so i have been reading up on a lot of current issues lately.
on a lighter note, i love my dh. right now he is in the kitchen preparing munch's dinner like he does every night. then he is going to give munch a bath like he does every night. also, they just played together for the last couple of hours. he is such a great daddy.

aprilmeadow · 05/11/2006 08:55

Jess Yet anpther GREAT questionnaire!! Just a shame my answers are so awful

SKYTVADDICT · 05/11/2006 10:04

Morning all.

Just done questionnaire.

May go to get some materniry bras today. Had a late night last night out for a meal and didnt' get in until 1.45 am so will also probably go to sleep later.

Fireworks tonight. DP needs to go in the loft and get our gloves, scarves hats etc.

jellybeans · 05/11/2006 11:38

Mornin all. Thanks for lettin me know paracetemol is OK. I weighed myself this am and have lost 1/2 stone as am nauseaus and had these migraines. I am sure I will put it back on though! (and am not thin to start with!)I'm abit worried about not seeing the doctor till past 20 weeks due to my history. I really am scared of bleeding to death/PPH. I was lucky to pull through last time as I lost 3500 ml and was very ill. Has anyone else had previous traumatic birth? I also have had 2 sections and don't fancy another as that is what I had the PPH with. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR sorry for moaning all the time!

moomimin · 05/11/2006 11:46

Great quizz jess, although some of the questions were tricky.

Sorry jellybeans, can't give you any advice I have no experiences of bleeding to tell you about.

Grrrrrrrr anyone want a teething 14mth yr old, she is free to any home.

ShowOfWhizzBangHands · 05/11/2006 12:03

Morning all.

Having a bit of a break from the housework! Finished my dull dull dull report yesterday but not in time to get some muffins! Boo... Going to do an online shop a bit later and order lots of comfort food. No more reports or essays due until January so I can afford to relax a bit.

Well, we went to the ILs' last night for SIL's 18th birthday meal. Lots of lovely food- pitta breads, nachos, dips, baked warm camembert, olives etc to start. Then home made pizzas, pasta, sauces, garlic bread and ciabatta for mains and fruit salad and sorbet to finish. DH passed the scan pic round the table (all 23 people) and MIL promptly burst into tears. DH's grandma then burst into tears. DH then burst into tears. What have I got myself into? They were all so pleased, although they spent the rest of the evening refusing to let me do anything to help. I think they are going to spoil me. It's the first grandchild and great-grandchild on both sides and they're all convinced I'm fragile. It's nice but may get wearing by about January.

Moomimin- moomin (the other one) is a very regular MN poster! I thought you were her when your first joined the thread. Maybe we could all help you decide on a new name, it'd be pretty weird and wonderful if you let a bunch of pg and hormonals decide it for you!

Has anybody seen Megglevache since yesterday? I was thinking about her all afternoon, hoping it all went well.

Anyway, off to do that questionnaire and then must hoover and dust...

Happy Sunday and wrap up warm!

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 05/11/2006 12:14

Morning everyone, i just did Jessis questionnaire, very funny!

Jellybeans i had horrid birth with my twins, it was an emergency section at 29 weeks and i lost lots of blood. With DD i wanted a homebirth as i didnt want to go anywhere near the hospital, i laboured at home from 6am till 6pm but she got stuck and was backe to back, i transferred in but she came out fine in the end, i had a very bad 3rd degree tear though and alot of stitches. The next time i wanted a home birth again and this time it was fine, i tore badly again 2nd degree this time and had to go back in the next day to be stitched (hooray for gas and air!)The next time (phew) it was great, ds#4 came out in 40 mins at home, he had massive shoulders and got a bit stuck but it was all 0k and lovely midwife stitched me up at home straight after. Im definately going for another homebirth, probably wouldnt make it to hosp anyway!

So ive had some scary times but its always been ok in the end, and just because you had severe blood loss last time it doesnt mean it will happen again, your last prg was twins, non identical too, so that means you had 2 placental sites to bleed from. That is a massive difference to just 1 site to bleed from. It is also important that you dont labour flat on your back hooked up to monitors, as the hospital may well encourage as you had a section last time. Stand your ground and read as much as you can about VBAC, there are plenty of discussions on mumsnet that have excellent references.

Im a bit fanatical (as you can tell!) about this, i had to be very clear with the midwves and consultants about what i wanted and more importantly did not want. It is so easy to get bullied when you are in our position, get your Dh to read up too so he can support you while your in labour.

So sorry long post, rant over

moomimin · 05/11/2006 12:23

SOBASH that is soooo lovely about all the tears when you told your news. You really will be spoilt the first is always VERY special for yours and dH's parents. Just you wait till babes arrives, then you'll know what being spoilt is. Loads of gifts though which is quite fun.

You ladies are very welcome to try to work out a new name for me, given what you know about me. Actually it would be quite fun, I have these images of you all in my head, they are probably completly wrong but help me feel that you are all a bit more real that just a few words on a screen. IYKWIM.

Scan day tommorow, ohhhhh it's scary. freaked myself this morning, used my doppler for the first time in afew days. Couldn't find a heartbeat was trying for about 20minutes. God was I shitting it; decided to get up, go for a wee have a jump about and try again. Found it after about 3 or 4 mins that time it must have been hiding, but christ it was scary for a moment. Don't think I'll use it any more, what will be will be and I scared myself silly for a while so not sure it was worth it. Just hoping all will be ok tommorow. I'm really looking forward to seeing the midwife and gyny team again. They are all so nice, We have such close contact with them throughout pg here that after dd was born I really missed my visits. Sad really!

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 05/11/2006 12:25

Showofwhizzbanghands, LOL at all the crying! I hope you do get spoiled, let them. Its my inlaws 1st grandchild too, this year they inherited 5 and will have a 6th by May. It is fab, they have bought me lots of lovely maternity clothes and cook for me when they are here, i got a yummy mama mio set (smellies) the other day too. Its so nice to be spoilt, its worn a bit thin on my side of the family now, oh shes prg again, comments! They are still excited but its not the same as the enthusiasm from the inlaws.

They are all coming for xmas too, im going to have my 1st xmas off from cooking the lunch in 7 years. Oh hooooray!!

Ooh jacket potatoes, I live on jacket potatoes at the moment!

What wonderful news Megglevache! Sounds like a great scan. And you can breathe a sigh of relief at last(for now anyway, hey?). I'm thinking about going for a 4D scan after Christmas. Can't decide if it's indulgent or a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Again, so pleased for you ing like an idiot...
