Morning!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MKG · 02/11/2006 13:42

What's a consultant? I don't think we have them here.

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 02/11/2006 13:44

Thats your OBGYN MKG. The chief doc in charge, or so they like to think

MKG · 02/11/2006 14:02

OK. Now do you see the consultant often or is it a one time thing? I'm always so interested in how things work, and the differences.

twelveyeargap · 02/11/2006 14:19

I won't be seeing a consultant at all unless there is a problem. I'm having midwife led care and will only go to the hospital once more to have a scan at 20 weeks, and once at about 34 weeks I think for more bloodwork. The other checks are with my family doctor.

MKG I noticed that too about the chinese calendar. It was 4 boys in a row for me too, but for two years time there were 4 girl months in a row too.

Yes, we should keep track and see who it works for.

SKYTVADDICT · 02/11/2006 14:19

I hopefully won't see a consultant at all. DP who wants things done by the book was a bit put out when the midwife asked me (after the scan) if I wanted an appointment with the consultant. I was so surprised and said "no thanks not unless I have to, I wasn't intending to" she just smiled but I could tell DP was thinking WTF! I will hopefully have midwife led care all the way through. If I need to see the consultant now it will be becuase the 16 week blood tests show something they shouldn't.

I think I have been feeling the baby this week. I have had a lot of wind too though so I'm not sure. I am 15 weeks today so its def possible. I don't feel like I have wind now but can def feel something.

Hi and welcome Nateyo and congrats on scans TYG and mummymelling

cacaboo · 02/11/2006 14:23

I'm quite caught on the Chinese gender charts! I've seen two different versions of the thing on various sites. One of them (like here ) is completely accurate for my DS, and also working backwards (knowing my mum's and MIL's ages) for me, my brother, my DH. It predicts another DS for me (assuming I conceived start Sep not end Aug!)

The other one (like here ) wasn't accurate for all of the people above (I should have been a boy!) It predicts me a DD.

SKYTVADDICT · 02/11/2006 14:27

Just done the chinese predition thingy and it says girl for me.

Just cut and pasted the list below: nateyo and anyone else can cut, paste and add themselves and I also added the chinese bit for me to keep a record:

Both charts so boy for me. Oh the horror.

twelveyeargap · 02/11/2006 14:35

Hmmm. Both say I will have a boy, but second one says I should have been a boy when I was born. I am not, as far as I know.

First one is correct for my birth.

There are others which look for much more information. Most likely all hocus pocus though!

moomimin · 02/11/2006 16:50

Heloooooooo. Welcome NATEYO, cool name BTW.

TYG the theory on the girl boy sperm thing worked for us. We had sex on day 14 for ds and had a boy. (obviously) durr! ds. When we decided to try for our second we did it on day 12 & 13 and then again on day 16 as I had looked into the theory. We had a girl and I am convinced she was conceived from the female sperm still hanging around for day 14. As we have one of each now it made no difference this time so just went for it between days 12 & 17 so until it is born I won't know when we conceived but I will have a pretty good idea once he or she arrives.

I still didn't think I was having a girl with dd though, the health professionals here told us in not so many words it was a boy. We chose a boys name, took blue baby grows to the hospital and even decorated the nursery red and blue. It took me 48hrs after she was born to stop checking for a willie, I was in utter shock. It took me weeks to stop calling her he.
We won't find out, I'll warn you now. Dh won't have any of it. I wouldn't mind knowing to be honest but he likes the suspense and it's quite nice to have a suprise at the end of all that pain.

Glad your scans went well mummymelling and tyg. Monday doesn't seem far away now, I'm a bit scared to be honest.!!! Arrrrrrgh

Wavedancer · 02/11/2006 17:24

Hi everyone,

I was directed over here from the pregnancy section. I am due on 18 May and have my first scan tomorrow. I'm scared because I've had no symptoms at all (aside from 2 positive tests and slightly larger boobs) and I've had light bleeding since Tuesday this week (brownish, rather than bright red). I am so worried that this will all be over come tomorrow.

Anyway on a brighter note, to introduce myself I am 31, this is my first pregnancy and I live in Kingston, Surrey. I have enjoyed reading your updates. Good luck to all my fellow May mums!

jellybeans · 02/11/2006 17:35

Hi all

I also am new and directed here from pregnancy thread! I am 10.4 wks and due 26/5. This is my.......6th pregnancy (I still feel like a novice). But I only ('only'?) have 4 kids, all at school (i sadly had a m/c and s/b). Look forward to meeting you all. xx

jellybeans · 02/11/2006 17:37

Hi Wavedancer, I also worried as my sickness seemed to wane at about 8/9 weeks. If you remember my other post re scan I also had bleeding. All was OK, and in my twin pregnancy I had NO sickness at all! I really hope ll is OK tomorrow x

moomimin · 02/11/2006 17:43

Welcome wavedancer. I'm sure you'll enjoy it over here. It is a worrying time. Sent to test us. Good luck though.

Brown blood appears to be generally old blood so try not to worry too much. There are a few mums on the May thread with experience of brown disharge so I'm sure they'll give you some feedback.

moomimin · 02/11/2006 17:44

Hey, Jellybeans, glad you came over, have been looking out for you for a couple of days. Hope you are feeling ok.

Welcome to the Mad thread.

moomimin · 02/11/2006 17:46

Ohhhh

That was supposed to say May thread. (honest) pmsl

Although I'm actually not sure which one is more acurate.

MKG · 02/11/2006 18:33

Sadly we are a mad thread, In fact I think this is our 4th thread (you missed the great peanut butter marmite debate) We are a chatty bunch. Welcome to both of you.

aprilmeadow · 02/11/2006 19:11

Lg&T - what date is your ball? I have bought a gorgeous black full length size 10 (stretchy) dress from Formes (maternity shop) in Guildford for a wedding i am going to on Friday 15th December. IF its after then, then you are more than welcome to borrow it. I am 5ft 5in and with kitten heels it doesnt quite touch the floor, so 5ft 4in with high heels would be fine.... let me know :D

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 02/11/2006 19:42

Congrats wavedancer have no fearabout the bleeding, i too had brown discharge a couple of weeks ago but a scan a week later showed a jumping bean on the scan quite happy with no reason for the blood loss. Glad to have you

Welcome jellybeans (love the name) hope you are ok what ages are your dc you must post on the stats thread see earlier. Im so glad to have someone else who has twins ive been torturing everyone who suspects it might be, hee, hee. It will be much more fun with help, we are allowed as we had to go through it

Moomin pmsl at mad not may thread! Sure your scan will be ok, its so lovely to see them jumping around.

April i would just love your dress but the ball is on the 8th dec! AAAAAAGGGHHH knew it would be too good to be true. Thank you so much for the offer though. Anyone else?

All newbies have you read about bog roll tuesday? Its hysterical, did it in front of mil this week she clearly thought i had a screw loose....well

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 02/11/2006 20:22

Sent dts to the shop earlier to get a huge bag of milky buttons to send to my friend (who had a little girl yesterday) for her ds so he wont feel left out. They came home with revels, sooo not good for a 2 year old (cos of the nuts) so now they are downstairs.....to eat them or not to eat them....like its up for discussion! I know pebble i will regret it when im moaning to you all on the postnatal thread in a years time about my non shifting baby weight. You can all tell me i told you so

moomimin · 02/11/2006 20:30

lg&t Sorry but I am fearing that if you are a size 10-12 now after 5 children and pg with no.6 then you won't have too much problem after baby arrives. Luck you, enjoy the revels. ERRRRRRR watch out for the coffee ones though.

jessinwa · 02/11/2006 20:36

hello ladies.
welcome new mamas-to-be! i think you will like it here. this is our sixth thread. i have been renaming them in my bookmarks from the first one on and this is number six. we can really get talking.
i have been lurking whenever i get a chance to catch-up. my stupid in-laws are gone now and so i can get back to important stuff like chatting with a bunch of ladies in other countries. i was so relieved to see some colorful language in a few recent posts. i can't tell you how many times i have wanted to toss in a bad word here and there but i couldn't bring myself to do it just in case i would offend someone. looks like all is clear for an f-word or two. phew, what a relief. i am quite a potty mouth in rl.
i decided not to get any tests done for my heart flutter thing. i have talked with my doctor about it and i am confident that it is just my poor heart dealing with extra blood volume. it feels good to make a decision about my health. they were just going to strap me in for an ekg and if i didn't have one of my heart flutter episodes while it was recording then they were just going to send me home without any diagnosis anyway.
have any of you experienced this itchy skin thing yet? i had it at the end of my last pregnancy, but it is starting way earlier this time. great. seems like all of my symptoms are starting early. my hips hurt like hell in the morning. i can't sleep. one good thing though is that my appetite is back. it is so nice to eat like a normal person again.
my mama just called. i will have to finish up with you all later.
