Morning!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pebblemum · 03/11/2006 16:33

I still havent heard about my nuchal scan. I should have had a date through this week but nothing turned up. Ive been trying to get in touch with my midwives (ive got two, arent i lucky) but they are both busy. Think i will give it one more try tonight and then it will have to wait until Monday. Im getting fed up now though. I just want to see my little bean. I havent really thought of what i would do if the results i get say im high risk but i dont think i could have the amnio, 1) dont like needles and 2) its too risky. I know dh would want to find out for definate but we will cross that bridge if we come to it. Im also supposed to have my bloods done at the same time as the scan, my midwife couldnt get any blood from me at my booking visit so she has referred me to the lab at the hospital. Have i mentioned I hate needles . With ds1 i had to have my blood tested at every anti natal visit, it was horrible

The car wash trip was fun, ds2 couldnt make up his mind if he liked it, one minute he was laughing the next he looked scared stiff. Afterwards though he said he wanted to do it again.

I was naughty at lunchtime, i had KFC. I have got a lovely tuna salad made up in the fridge, or i was going to have soup or maye a panini but no dh had to take us to KFC. Im sure he is trying to see how big he can make me. He bought me a big cream cake the other day. I know i could have refused it but hey im pregnant he shouldnt put temptaion in my way, im too weak willed to refuse it

I have got a big spot on my bum, tmi i know but it is really annoying me now. It hurts when i sit down, it hurts when my jeans rub it but i cant get rid of it, its not ripe yet. Dh has been slapping it all day just to watch me squirm in pain.

twelveyeargap · 03/11/2006 16:46

@ pebblemum. There's this brilliant stuff I got for those nasty hormonal cystic spots that we ladies get on our chins. You get it from chinese herbal/ acupuncture places. It's about £12 for a bottle that lasts forever and it's completely natural. It's got a silly translated-from-Chinese name though. E101 Acne Getaway. I kid you not. It's excellent though. Whenever I feel that tingly soreness under the skin that signals an eruption, I just slap this stuff on morning and night and it cleanses the skin right out and I never see the spot. Amazing stuff. Every single person I've recommended it to is converted. Anyhoo... works on my back too so I'm sure it will work on your bum. Flick your husband's dangly bits with a tea towel the next time he tried to inflict pain on your backside. Cheeky moo. Hhaha. Cheeky. Sorry.

Hello everyone, TyG terrible about your money but great news about the flat. Not the pongy bit but the fact that it might hold off til new year. Don't think estate agents and solicitors do much over Dec and new year so I think you'll be safe. You sound very calm about the 8k I have to say, I would be on the phone every day to that agent threatening legal action and all sorts. I can't believe he can do that, and then to make you wait for it back. Bet he pays his wages each mth before you get any. SORRY,,, It's not even happened to me but I feel sad for you guys and soooooooooo cross when "professionals" take inocent peoples money and then string them a load of rubbish. I will be praying (not that I'm particually religious but ykwim) for you that they don't go bankrupt. rant over

lol at scaring you lg&t, I will stay nice

Do you guys really feel that strong about the "risks" of amnios? I know that there is a risk but these procedures are preformed every day and there is a risk with everything ins't there? Don't want to start a debate because everyone has their own personal reasons and thoughts but I was just interested!

Can't wait to do my x-mas shopping, the shops are rubbish here so we have planned a 2 week trip back to the UK begining of Dec for SHOPPING. Yeah I'm sooooooooo excited. Going to stay with my one of my sis in Birmingham and then 2nd week down to Bournemouth to do our visiting. Will be Fab!

Hope you all have a fab weekend and Role on 3.30 Monday I say!!!!

twelveyeargap · 03/11/2006 16:53

JuicyLucy - I sent them a strongly worded (with phrases from legal websites ) final demand at the end of Sept after they sent me a rubber cheque. They didn't respond so a solicitor friend of ours helped us fill in the documents for London County Court and filed them for us. They received that claim (including costs and interest), late last week. I phoned today to ask why LCC haven't heard from them and they said they've written to them. They told me they're very anxious for me not to take this any further and they'll be able to indicate when they'll be able to pay early next week. It's just astounding that they run a business this way.

I am going to report them to the Office of Fair Trading (they were very interested when I outlined the problem previously), but whilst they're working towards paying me, I want to look like I'm being very reasonable. I don't think it would help to get the OFT involved at this stage. I will get them closed down and I'm going to campaign that they're never allowed to work as estate agents again. Will contact local press etc. The fact they've so flagrantly broken the Esate Agents Act law should be enough to cause them a real shit storm. No more than they deserve.

Moomimin the reason i think amnios are too risky is because i can honestly say that no matter what the outcome of it wouldnt change the way i feel about this little one and so the small risk of M/C that they carry just isnt worth it in my case. I do agree with having an amnio though if you really need to know, its worth that small risk if it will mean that you dont spend the rest of the pregnancy panicking.

Thanks TYG i will keep a look out for that stuff. And i think i will keep a tea towel handy for dh (i will tell him you told me to do it

moomimin · 03/11/2006 17:03

Good for you TYG. glad your not taking any nonsence.

moomimin · 03/11/2006 17:08

I can see that pebblemum. Thanks! It is indeed an unnecessasary risk if the out come has no meaning for you. Some people the out come would matter to but with a fair amount of enphasis on the "risk" element it must add to there concern. Very tricky situation. Lets hope none of us Mayers need go through it!

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 03/11/2006 18:08

Evening all how are you?

Pebble your hubby sounds wicked, i agree with tea towel to bits {grin]

Good luck juicy hope it goes ok at the scan, when is it?

Jellybeans poor you it must be so hard to not know till you are 20 weeks, most of us here are panicking till 12 weeks and that is bad enough!.Im sure it will all be ok this time. My dts are 8 now, terrifying, surely im not old enought to have 8 year olds They are wicked and confuse everyone especially at school.

Moomin there are tiny risks for the amnio, usually 1% in most hospitals here 2% in those that dont do the procedure very often. It is a blooby big needle though (lol at Pebble)

Am having yum salmon for tea marinading in sesame oil, soy and honey. Will munch it with egg noodles drenched in soy mmmmmmnnnnnnn

Dh definately going to be home on sunday! Hooray, he has not been home since sept 1st and ive only seen him for one weekend since then, he is going to laugh alot when he sees me in my maternity jeans Hope he doesnt head for the door.....

twelveyeargap · 03/11/2006 18:34

Yipee for Mr LG&T coming home. How long will he be back for?

OP posts:
moomimin · 03/11/2006 19:12

Thats great news on dh lg&t. How exciting

moomimin · 03/11/2006 19:20

Wavedancer, just posted on your thread under pregnancy for you. Soooo sorry about your news. Thinking of you!

jessinwa · 03/11/2006 19:21

pebblemum, i have a painful spot on my bum too. it hurts so bad. mine is low and on the crease of where my bum and leg meet. a native culture in guyana says that a woman isn't really pregnant until she gets a spot like us. well, i guess we are well and truly pregnant now.
i had planned to write a bunch but munch has other plans. he is so sweet and so happy to have me to himself again now that his grandparents are gone.

aprilmeadow · 03/11/2006 19:36

Pebble you would be more than welcome to borrow my dress for your party. I forgot to say that it can be worn as strapless or it does come with detachable straps that cross over at the back. I love it!

Re your DH i would keep a mental note and then when you are in labour make sure you grab his b*llocks with eevery contraction

I also had a KFC for lunch - this baby will come out looking like a fillet tower if i am not careful!

TYG - keeping my fingeres crossed for you that your money comes through before you 'actually' need it.

Bit of a dim question, but is the nuchal scan the one where they measure the back of the neck and give you a 1:xx chance of ds etc? If it is i had it done. Got a 1:5083 and 1:14800 of other birth defects. Have had my risk lowered from that of a 25yr old (my age) to a 15yr old. We decided that we wanted to know either way just incase there was a problem we could have the time to let it sink in and get used to it. I didnt want to end up like Honey on Eastenders.

Have i said that we have finally been given a moving date!!! Tuesday 14th Nov!! 11 days away!! OMG just as we were thinking of pulling out.

moomimin · 03/11/2006 20:08

Think the Nuchal is exactly that aprilmeadow. Excellent news on the moving date. Better get packing.

moomimin · 03/11/2006 21:17

Going to bed. I am wacked today. It's 10.20pm here so I've done quite well staying awake that long. Have a great weekend all.

pebblemum · 03/11/2006 22:46

Jessinwa, it sounds like our spots are in the same place, bloody things. If you saw me moving around trying to find a way to stop it rubbing you would think id already had the baby. I cant even sit on the loo properly, have to sit lopsided lol. I guess we are well and truly pregnant then

Aprilmeadow thanks for the offer of the dress i may take you up on that although the way i seem to be growing i may just end up in a bin liner!! Perhaps i can convince my mum to have a fancy dress party then i can go as The Blob

Im off to check my ebay account now and then order more things from the Woolworths website, i wonder if i can use the 10% discount code again , doubt it but its worth a try. I ordered loads of things last night and then flicking through the book earlier i found a couple of things ds1 had pointed out. I will stop buying for the boys soon but i just love spoiling them at christmas especially as i think this is the last year ds1 is going to believe in it all. I dont want him to realise the truth, it will mean my little boy is growing up

aprilmeadow · 04/11/2006 08:14

Ah, dont have to worry about packing as we are paying £130 extra for them to come in the day before and pack us up! All we have to do is empty the loft. Dh and his grandad are going to do that during the week! We had already started so there is only about half left to do. We are also hiring a skip for next weekend and are going to be ruthless

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 04/11/2006 08:18

morning am sat here colouring my hair, tricky when youve not yet had your first cup of tea!

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 04/11/2006 08:33

What happened to wavedancer is she ok? Cant find the thread.

Pebble do you think if its twins you get a spot for each baby

Thanx moomin and TYG Dh is home sunday eve and every eve next week, he goes back to Dartmouth on Fri after work that day. So will have him home in manor of regular husband every night after work! Im soooo excited.

April great idea to hire a skip on moving day! I too am ruthless when i move a skip would make me awful, the kids would be picking up as many of their toys as their little hands could carry to shield them from me

Have had hair dye on for ages now but still looks the same Am covering roots that are mousy, hate the winter i dont need to bother in the summer.

aprilmeadow · 04/11/2006 08:41

Wavedancer had been losing brown blood for about 4 days and when she had her scan they told her that the baby hant lived beyond 6wks

aprilmeadow · 04/11/2006 08:43

I had my hair dyed on Wednesday. One of my friends is a mobile hair dresser and only charges £35 for semi permenant colour. Not bad as toni and guy charge like £50.

We have a lot of crap in the garden and rather than going to the tip a thousand times we thought a skip would be easier and also our neighbours are going halves with us as they have lots of crap too.

aprilmeadow · 04/11/2006 08:44

lol at children gathering their belongings!! My mum did similar things but made sure that when she was on a de-crapping mission that we were all at school so therefore wouldnt know what had been binned and couldnt complain!

moomimin · 04/11/2006 10:29

Morning all; had a terrible nights sleep again, just can't seem to sleep. Dh and I decided it was time to buy a new matress. Ours is about 6 years old now and very lumpy. Going to go out later and treat ourselves. Only as usual dh wants the best and most expensive but I'm happy with a middle road to replace again in 5 years. Ohhh men When ever we decide to buy something we always have the same debate. I usually win in the end, lol. I hold the purse strings here, dh earns it and I decide what to do with it. Otherwise we would have nothing.

How lovely lg&t having dh home every evening next week, don't have to answer this if you don't want to but is he in the forces? I thought you'd mentioned you lived on a naval patch at some point. I saw a claire voyant when I was about 14 she told me I would marry a Marine. I'm still looking for him, in the meantime I married a snowboard instructor come builder but I'm still watching for that uniform. Mmmmmmmmmmm {goes off in day dream} Oh sorry back now.

Hope you all have great weekend. best do some housework.

bye

ShowOfWhizzBangHands · 04/11/2006 10:48

Hey ladies,

Not been around for a few days, been incredibly busy with work/house buying/Christmas shopping etc. Was gutted to read Wavedancer's news. I've been there and it's desperately .

Great news on the move date april, though it brings home how much I am dreading doing it. Estate Agents reckon that the sale is going to be done by early January (will be 21-ish wks), which I think is a bit quick and extremely optimistic, but fantastic if it's true! Not going to complain though after reading what TYG's been through with relocating. LG&T, fantastic news on DH coming home. How exciting!

Well, I've been up since 6am writing the world's most boring report. It's currently 2000 words long and if I do say so myself it's the biggest load of drivel ever written. I'm bored writing it, goodness knows how I'm going to proof read the bloody thing. Why did I agree to do it?!

All my maternity clothes have arrived from ebay this morning. I'm desperate to try some of them on, but I must finish the mountain of work I have to do first. We're going to the ILs today for my SIL's 18th birthday meal and then to my parents' tomorrow for fireworks [excited]. ILs don't know I'm pg (but SIL does as she and DH are very close) so it's a double celebration this weekend.

Currently starving, haven't had time to go shopping and I'm craving English breakfast muffins with bacon. Mmm... If I finish work soon I'm buying muffins! And trying on maternity stuff!

Happy weekend all, hope you're having a great time and be careful if you're handling fireworks!
