Good morning! Crikey, I go back to my parents for a few days and it all goes mental on here!

Great to hear all about the lovely scans, good luck to those having them today too.

I know i'm going to have to re-read all the advice on slings, prams, cots etc as we're really not 'there' yet in terms of purchasing.

No news to report from me, had my aunts funeral, the memorial service was lovely and really celebratory of her life so I think she would have been happy. I'm sleeping well and still feeling flutters (although he/she did go quiet for 1.5days which freaked anxious me out, but back with vengeance as of yesterday afternoon). DH still hasn't been able to feel them so hopefully not too much longer as ii think it'd be lovely for him to feel more involved. Can't believe i'm 20 weeks!

Wishing you all a stress free Friday and a lovely weekend xx

birchwoods · 27/03/2015 09:29

Morning all, happy Friday! Good luck to all those having their scans today.

Fanby, glad your Aunt's funeral went well. Sometimes they do turn out to be an unexpectedly lovely day don't they, one of the rare occasions that the whole family gets together.

When you feel flutters how long do they last? Like can you feel them constantly for ages or do you feel something for a second and then nothing for a while?

I'm still not sure that what I can feel is the baby. Didn't feel anything for a day or so but I seem to get some kind of fleeting sensation at around 3pm every day (could be me digesting my lunch?!) and sometimes at bed time I feel a couple of tiny pops but literally 2 or 3 and that's it!

Fanby · 27/03/2015 09:46

Very similar to you! It's like pops and nudges and quite fluttery for a few seconds, then a pause then it happens again. Usually get a few at a time and it happens every hour or so. I definitely get more when I'm resting/relaxing!

sianihedgehog · 27/03/2015 11:05

I can feel something like a big fish flopping in there occasionally which I don't think is gas. It does REALLY make me think of Alien, though...

birchwoods · 27/03/2015 11:19

Maybe it is the baby then! Yes, it feels like little nudges from the inside. A colleague has brought me in her Doppler today, I haven't got any gel yet but tried it with Vaseline and heard the heartbeat! I know they're a bit controversial but I'm glad I've got it now.

whitwoochantelle · 27/03/2015 13:58

Good luck with your scans today ladies xx

birchwoods · 27/03/2015 15:32

Snuzpod ordered!

I also ordered a BT baby monitor from Amazon. If you have Amazon Prime make sure you sign up to Amazon Family (free) as you get £15 off your first order over £60 from the baby shop. It ends sometime in April though.

Fanby · 27/03/2015 17:06

Yes to alien like lol, it's a beautiful feeling but definitely freaky!

Well done on the Doppler, my sister has lent me hers but so far haven't had the balls to use it lol Wink

Fanby · 27/03/2015 17:08

Ooh and random off topic post, to those that love a bit of Disney and are London based/close to, I went to the Cinderella exhibition today in leceister sq and it was really lovely Smile

karatekimmi · 27/03/2015 18:05

scan went well, everything looking normal, but they wouldn't tell us the sex (I didn't think they would as they don't here Sad) I'll post a picture when I'm allowed my phone back as minikimmi is watching Thomas the tank engine on youtube!!

Glad the funeral went well fanby

I'm getting buyers envy as we don't really need anything but all you lovely ladies keep mentioning things and I keep googling them and lusting after them. I might need to hide my cards!!

Dozygirl · 27/03/2015 19:08

fanby glad the funeral went well and it was a good celebration.

karate glad your scan was good. I enjoyed mine too. Last time I had a big screen to look at in front of me but there wasn't one this time so i only got to see it when she moved the screen around. Dp got to watch the whole time though but I'm glad because it helps to involve him.

And it's a baby girl! I actually cried a little bit when she told us. She sounded pretty confident too but there's always that worry they get it wrong.

I've got a low lying placenta so need to go back at 36 weeks to make sure it'd moved. Other than that all was perfect.

Oh congratulations on your scans!! I'm super pleased for you both!!!

(I'm also pleased to hear Thomas the Tank Engine is still popular) :) x

Dozygirl · 27/03/2015 23:01

Awww karate my friends little boy is obsessed with Thomas the tank engine. He also watches YouTube videos. he watches some strange ones though. Americans collect all the trains, line them up and then say there names one by one. He absolutely loves watching that for some strange reason!

Lots of wee kicks here now. Feeling a bit more real when you feel it, eh?!

Change table is good if you do cloth because there is more to store than with disposable nappies. Also I found/find not having to bend down good but most folk I know just use a change mat on the floor or just the floor. When you have to change 14 nappies a day you get less precious!

I took make up to the hospital last time thinking to put some on for photos and visitors etc but in the event 12 hrs of labour followed by an emcs left me looking green and peely wally to say the least! I didn't care. I was just so damm grateful she was out and ok!

Now my sickness is over I seem to have started putting on weight. I've put back on the half stone I'd lost so I'm back to what I was on bfp day. Need to limit my intake of crap. I do not want to put on 4st + like last time! It's so hard though. I just seem to want chips and sweets all the time. Carrot sticks, carrot sticks, carrot sticks...

karatekimmi · 28/03/2015 06:48

I'm the same joskar I've "enjoyed" a few weeks of not being sick and indulging myself and now I need to eat healthier!! The trouble is I have to keep eating little and often or I feel sick and crisps and crap snack food is just too convenient. I'll be joining in the carrot stick brigade!!

Yes dozy I know that video minikimmi says it after him so we have it in stereo! At least we seem to be passed the model railway video clips, that was a great phase!!

PerpetualSummer · 28/03/2015 08:37

Thank goodness for the weekend! We had our scan on Monday but didn't want to find out the sex so we're told to look away from the screen at that point. Glad to hear everyone's scans have been going well.

Annike82 - thanks for sharing those. I started attending classes at the Lightcentre in Moorgate. Have so far only managed to make the Friday classes as they start at 6. The rest of the times the pregnancy classes start at 5:30 and I've struggled to get out of work to make it.

Birchwoods - I'm like you, struggling to remember to do my pelvic floor exercises. An app sounds like a good idea.

Frolicacid · 28/03/2015 12:20

Hi everyone! Happy Saturday.

fanby, I'm glad the memorial service went as well as could be.

sani, my movement has also felt like a fish flopping! So weird! But it's been getting a bit more pokey the past few days. Someone mentioned it feeling alien up thread and I'm with them on that. It's very reassuring, but I'm not sure if I like it.

Yay for good scans. Congratulations on your baby girl dozy. I'm so hoping they'll be able to tell us what we're having on Wednesday. I want to start shopping!

We didn't manage to go looking at prams yesterday. DH had to work Sad. So I had a lovely lady day of my week off skinning around in pj's and watching crap tv.

Is anyone experienceing round ligament pain? Mine seems to be worse the past few days. Whenever I get up in the morning or move too quickly I'm having lots of sharp pain. I've googled and don't think it's anything to worry about. But i thought it might be reassuring to know if others are feeling it. And has anyone got any tips on how to deal with it?

I hope everyone's having a good weekend? I'm at the hairdressers. I HATE sitting in front of the mirror for hours.

karatekimmi · 28/03/2015 13:53

I'm having some pain - when I cough or sneeze it hurts in my groin sometimes (please the joy of incontinence - no one warns you of that!!) when I go down steps sometimes.

"We" call it discomfort rather than pain as it panicks my DH when o say I'm in pain but it really hurts at times!! I know it doesn't make it better, but your not alone!

Frolicacid · 28/03/2015 14:16

Sorry you're having "discomfort" kimmi, but thank you for making me feel a bit more normal. I think I paniced DH a bit this morning when I jumped out of bed and the combination of moving too quickly and a full bladder stopped me in my tracks.
My incontinence saves itself for when I'm puking - just in case that alone isn't horrible enough!

OMC1 · 28/03/2015 14:55

Happy Saturday, everyone!

karatekimmi Glad you had a good scan, sorry you didn't get to find out the sex though, can't wait to see your picture!

Dozy Congrats on your little girl!! You might find this hard to believe given all our similarities so far, but I too have a low lying placenta and am back on 17 July for a 36 week scan - I do hope it's moved as the sonographer said it might mean a C-section if it hasn't - I'm not against a c-section, but would prefer to not have one. Que sera sera, though!

Other than that, my scan was perfect - she was so happy with all the measurements and was a lovely lady; she even did us some scan pics for free as we were half an hour late getting in there!

We didn't find out the sex - we didn't want to - but I think the sonographer slipped up at one point and referred to the baby's sex (by saying he/she but I won't say which! Wink) so we might have an idea... Oops!

Frolic I am experiencing RLP and it is quite unpleasant! I get it on my right hand side most, just under the 'ledge' of my bump and it hurts like a son of a gun! Just telling myself it's important growing pains making room for little Wriggler! karate I get it when I am walking uphill!

Dozygirl · 28/03/2015 16:54

Haha omc that is so spooky . Also mentioned the section thing but said most people's do move by then so not feeling too concerned about it at the mo. Fingers crossed they both move.

frolic I've been getting the ligament pain from quite early on when I stand up quickly and when I sneeze especially when I sneeze when lying down. It makes me stop in my tracks and groan but goes as quickly as it comes. Maybe that's what contractions will feel like so it's getting us used to them. I have no idea though! i don't even get period pains when not pregnant so I have no idea what they are gonna feel like lol.

Had a little pamper session this morning, early birthday present from a friend. Had some eyelashes put on, eyebrows waxed and toes done. I'm definitely going to do something similar closer to the time of baby''s arrival so I feel slightly more attractive and don't have minging feet.

OP posts:
sianihedgehog · 28/03/2015 21:35

I've had terrible pain in my bump when I cough or sneeze since really early, too. It gets me if I'm rushing when walking, too. My other half is over six foot and I'm under five foot, so he's had to slow the fuck down!

Frolicacid · 29/03/2015 10:28

Good morning!

Sorry that you are all having rlp as well. But glad I'm not the only one! I got up much more slowly this morning and it didn't hurt.
siani, I'm just 5ft and DH is 6ft, so o know exactly what you mean! He usually complains that I walk too fast, but now when we walk the dog it feels like I'm running to keep up with him.

What's everyone up to today? It's really horrible weather here. I'm going to attempt to sort out my wardrobe. I need to make room for maternity stuff and also look through some of my more summery stuff to see if any of it might fit this year. I've also thought that I can pack some of my more wintery work clothes away as I won't be needing them until winter 2016!! Yay!!!

Lilydreams · 29/03/2015 11:19

Hiya all!!

Long time no posts by me sooo sorry! Combo of my phone being broke so no Internet access and locking myself out!

Anyways I'm back now- I've read back all the thread (wow you ladies have been doing some chatting!) but I can't remember specific topics so I'll do a quick update on me and then start replying to people's posts after today!

I'm 20+4 now, had my scan last week all was good except baby kept hiding his heart so they could only get one of the 3 measurements/ checks they wanted so I'm back in 2 weeks. Was funny I had to lay on both sides and then they tipped the bed so my feet were in the air and I was nearly slipping off to try to get baby to move but wasn't having it- moving loads but had chin down an little arms folded over chest..... must be because he's a BOY!! Causing trouble already! Hubby was over the moon as what he wanted, I wasn't fussed either way but am well happy because he's so giddy now!

Been feeling little 'tickles' for a couple of weeks an last night could actually feel them a little from the outside- shouted hubby over to see if he could feel and baby then did the hardest kick yet which hubby felt!!! Was amazing!!

Will avoid an overly long post and leave it here for now!

Dozygirl · 29/03/2015 12:39

Hi welcome back lily.
I had to be turned to both sides to try and get heartbeat and then went for a wee which sorted it. Didnt have to be tilted till I nearly fell off though haha. I wish I could get another scan in 2 weeks though because I'm so paranoid that they've told me it's a girl but that they might be wrong. I want to get excited and fully believe it bit it's always there in the back of my mind that they can get the girl part wrong.

Weather awful here too frolic. Im working a nightshift tonight so good excuse to be lazy and chill. I need to sort through my wardrobe too. It's overflowing with clothes I rarely wear.
