(aka Marian01) I thought I would get going with forum names and jazz mine up a little!

LadesC- sounds like a great centre. I hope the midwives at this one do massage. I'm well up for any extra comforts and luxuries. Its great OH can stay- I really want him around after the baby is born too so we can figure it all out together. Two minds is better than one exhausted one I imagine.

I was a bit confused about pain relief at birthing centre. The midwife only mentioned gas n air when looking around but when I asked if there was any pethidin available she said there would be. So not 100% sure. Ide like the option of something just in case. This is my first baby so I'm not sure about my tolerance levels yet- major eek.

OMC1- i've been feeling pretty good n positive last few weeks. I had a bleed at 16 weeks which was horrible and had to go into hospital to have it checked. Having a scare really made me overwhelmingly protective of my lil baby. Thankfully all is well. I'm just spending endless time waiting to feel movements. I've had a few tiny taps but they are so quick and light ??. Midwife says I'll soon be wishing i cant feel them again when i get proper kicks!

sianihedgehog · 18/04/2015 08:22

Frolic I'm suddenly feeling queasy again, too. I had barely any first trimester sickness, but last night I was in the pub and the smells were properly turning my stomach. Maybe this is one of those things that happens later on in pregnancy that no one talks about?

My other half helpfully ran through a list of all the women at his work who are pregnant, how close to my due date they are, and how much smaller than me they are over dinner the other day. :( Even mentioned that one of them is just as short as me and only due three weeks after me and you can hardly tell. Then he got confused about why I was in a mope! In retrospect I think he was thinking "check out how big and strong MY BABY is!", but I certainly didn't take it like that then!

On a happy note, he got to feel baby kicking for the first time last night. :) I was surprised at how hard it was for him to feel, but he did just miss a MASSIVE kick.

Has anyone else started sorting out maternity leave at work yet? I've had a meeting with my manager and got permission to carry over an insane amount of holiday from this year to the end of mine, which I'm hugely relieved about. I wanted so badly to take the full year, but I don't think I can afford more than 6 months. But being able to carry over leave should push it up to 7.5 months, which seems less awful!

Frolicacid · 18/04/2015 09:08

I think you might be right siani. I googled a bit last night and it seemes that it can come back at any time. Great.
I'm laughing at your DH thinking that you'd be proud to be bigger than all his colleagues. They don't have a clue sometimes, do they.

I've had a similar meeting with my boss. Just waiting for confirmation from hr about carrying three weeks over to next year. That should take me to 10 instead of 9 months. If they don't let me carry it over, I'm going to finish way earlier than planned.

I'm feeling less queasy this morning. We've found a relitavely local shop that sells both the prams we have been looking at, so off there to look in a bit.

Have a great Saturday everyone Smile

mzzzf · 18/04/2015 09:35

Oooooh pram shopping!! I like it! I'm tempted to get DH out of bed and take me today too, but being sensible we might have to wait until next month.

Sorry you guys are feeling sickie. I've had issues with the other end - sorry for TMI ladies! I must've been on the loo 5 times last night Sad and each of them felt like a Trainspotting poo! If you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean!!!

I'm so tired but can't seem to sleep past 7/7.30am - naps are my friend!

mzzzf · 18/04/2015 09:37

I'm on the other side of the fence with maternity leave. I don't have a permanent job at the moment so I'm aiming to get back into a perm job or fixed term contract at around 6 months. I don't think I could handle doing locum work full time after baby, although the money would be lovely.

I feel a bit mean saying I want to go back at 6months, but I only want part time and I really love my job!

birchwoods · 18/04/2015 09:48

Morning everyone.

Welcome jiggles and sorry to hear that some of you are feel crap again, I hope it passes soon.

We're on our way to Wimborne in Dorset for the weekend visiting friends. They had their first baby in Jan so looking forward to cuddles!
It's a 3 hr journey and I'm desperate for a wee as usual!
Feeling anxious today though as I didn't feel the baby move really in the night and haven't felt it today. It does sometimes have quiet days but it always worries me! Will hopefully feel it when we stop for coffee.

I'm avoiding the weight gain chat as it just depresses me, I've put on prob twice as much as all of you!

Have a glorious Saturday everyone.

Dozygirl · 18/04/2015 17:33

Frolic good luck with the pram shopping and hope the sickness isnt back to stay.

Mzzf your poor bowels. Hope u feel better soon. Just do what u want to do in regards to maternity leave. Everyone is different.

I get to carry all my leave over which works out at 5 weeks and one day so feeling thankful for that I need to ring up HR to discuss what my pay will be like if I spread it over 12 months rather than 9 to see if it's affordable.
Had my private gender scan today to confirm little baby is a girl and she definitely is. Feeling more content about it now that I've been shown for myself. I was in there nearly an hour beca use she was fast asleep and wouldn't move which is very unlike he . Scanner even switched it to 4d for me even though I'd not paid for it so I got to see her cute little face. It's made me mega excited to meet her now though!

also said I'd never had a lie lowing placenta like my NHS scanner had said although at least that meant I get an extra scan at 36 weeks because of it lol.

Trainspotting poo sounds horrendous mzzf. I hope you feel better soon. You're more than welcome to some of my constipation if it will help Grin

I hope the coffe stop woke baby up birchwoods. Have a lovely time snuggling your friends baby. I feel really strange whenever anyone hands me a baby now I know I've got one growing inside me. Kind of emotional, elated and terrified!

Your scan sounds fab dozy. We're contemplating booking one so we can see him again before d-day. Did they give you some good pictures?

We've had a good, busy day. Went to the pram shop this morning and finally made a decision. We're 100% sold on the jane trider with the matrix carry cot / lie flat car seat. It's lovely, does everything we want and is pretty light for an all terrain. The lady in the shop was really nice, they have a good reputation for customer service and, best of all, she offered us a deal at £20 cheaper than I've seen online. We just need to decide between blue and black/grey now. Phew!

DH has spent the afternoon building a new cupboard for the kitchen. I've been clipping the dog's hair. It was the first cut this year and took hours! My back is already killing me. I've also thrown up everything I've ate today, but I'm ignoring that.

xBlueberry88x · 18/04/2015 20:28

Sorry havent been on much ladies, after the arguement on the conception page havent been on much!

Little man is kicking loads little sod, feeling massive but trying not to weigh myself anymore.

Loving the shaving talk i hadnt thought about it yet im still managing myself but dont think my oh will help lol

Still cant decide on prams and the cot i like only seems to be sold in one place for a lot of money grrr

I have pain when I walk in my lower stomach which is annoying but at least im not the only weird one lol

Hope everyone is ok!

Dozygirl · 19/04/2015 04:41

She was hiding her face for the photo but u can still make out her face. I still find the 4d pictures a little creepy but I like it because it's my baby Star

I'm on weekend night shifts so missing all the sunshine.

Yey for finding a pram you like frolic.

Blueberry lovely to hear from u. Please come back more Often. We're very friendly over here unlike ttc peeps xxx

Awwww, she's so cute dozy!
Sorry you have to work this weekend. I think the sunshine is going to last a bit, so hopefully you'll get to catch up in the week.

Lovely to hear from you blueberry. Come and join us more often. It's all peace, love and friendly chat here Smile.

I've been having really vivid dreams about breastfeeding for the past three nights. I keep expecting to wake up in pools of milk, but no leaks yet thank goodness.
I think I prefer the muck jagger one!

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

mzzzf · 19/04/2015 09:30

Yay welcome back blueberry those TTC idiots are real a-holes, as noted by their new bus titles. Maybe if they weren't so angry and relaxed a little everything would go a little smoother!!

Wow Dozy, those 4d scans are amazing. Sort of freaky though that she's inside you and you can see that much detail!

And Frolic -'muck' jagger dreams - dirty dirty girl!!!Grin

Argh I'm 26 weeks today - she could make an appearance in as little as 9 weeks!! As I read natural labour from 35ws is still considered normal.

happygojo · 19/04/2015 09:31

Hi all! I was at a BBQ yesterday and a friends girlfriend is a trainee midwife. She said my bump looks about average (score!) and not to worry about my weight. Her and some of her colleagues are doing a talk next week at the local uni on skin to skin so me and my OH are going to go which will be nice.

My OH saw bubs kick on Friday night. He still hasn't felt a definite one though. She had a quiet day the other day but I think it was because I was out and about with my mum on a mini break to Ely and we walked so much, so I think bubs had a duvet day. We even did the steps up the cathedral tower on our stay in Ely so hopefully that counteracted some of the cake.

Cervical length scan tomorrow and back at work after a weeks holiday. After the scan I will decide when to go on maternity leave.

Hope you have all had lovely weekends xxxx

sianihedgehog · 19/04/2015 10:10

Dozy they gave us a 3d scan photo at the 10 week scan at the FMC and it was TERRIFYING. Yours looks lovely!

blueberry I have that pain, too, I think it's round ligament pain. My cousin gave me a maternity support belt which is the single least sexy thing I've ever worn, but it really helps with the pain when walking. It makes the reflux and shortness of breath a bit worse, though, so not a perfect solution. The pain when walking is really getting me down, I LOVE walking...

I've got my 24 week midwife appointment tomorrow morning - anyone know what I should expect?

xBlueberry88x · 19/04/2015 10:54

Thanks ladies I spend more time on facebook than here so tend to forget lol

Siani My appointment got moved to next week but I think they start measuring your bump from now but I think most other things are the same. Physio mentioned a belt but I havent got one yet!

The ttc lot really are idiots i just couldn't believe it!

Dozy Those scans are cool but a little freaky lol

mzzzf · 19/04/2015 11:01

Siani - it was pretty much the same as the others I've had. Wee sample, blood pressure, fetal heartbeat, asking if I've felt movements and am I ok. Also this time did the tape measurement - I was showing as 27weeks, so was a week off for me, but she said it wasn't super accurate. Nothing to worry about.

Frolicacid · 19/04/2015 21:20

I hope everyone has had a great Sunday. I've spent a lovely afternoon with my friend and her baby.

Ha ha! mzzf, I should learn to proof read. Although my dream was very dirty, so I will think of him as muck jagger from now on!

I'm annoyed with DH as he's not back from surfing yet and I promised not to watch poldark with out him. I was hoping I might dream about him tonight.

siani, We have a 3d photo from about 9 weeks. He looks like a baked bean!

PenguinTuxedo · 19/04/2015 22:23

What Mzzf said about how baby could be here in 9 weeks is soooooooo scary. 10 years ago, someone I know had theirs at 27 weeks Shock He's totally fine now, but such a scary thought!

pinkie87 · 20/04/2015 08:21

Sorry to hear your sickness has made an unwelcome return frolic! :(

And hope your tum has sorted itself out a bit mzzf.

Love you 4D scan dozy, how sweet with her little hand over her face.

We're gonna buy the pram this week I think, Britax affinity in chilli pepper as it fits into our tiny car! Seems early I guess but I've always been impatient with things like this. Grin

I haven't got my MATB1 so haven't sorted mat leave yet, but may ask if I can pick it up from my midwife before my next appt (May 13th) as I wanna get it sorted in my head asap and have something to look forward to!

Saw my mum and sister this weekend, haven't seen my sister in a few weeks and she was telling me how big my bump was already, and how the baby will be huge if I'm this big already. Yeah thanks! Hmm I think people just speak without thinking sometimes.

Dozygirl · 20/04/2015 09:13

Definitely not too early to get pram pinkie. I got mine quite early on. Good idea about picking up your matb form earlier. Wish I'd thought of that. Work keep asking me for it. It's a bit daft that you're supposed to hand it in by the time u turn 25 weeks but that u only get it at your 25 week appointment. I've booked my appt just before i turn 25 weeks so I can get into work on time.

So I've been pretty lucky and not had much to complain about being pregnant until these weekend of busy nightshifts I've just had. I have the hugest swollen legs ever. My socks were cutting into my ankles. Gonna hAve to invest in some new types of socks but I don't know which ones are best for swollen feet. Any suggestions? This does not bode well for wearing little summer dresses in the warmer months with fat legs on show Confused
It kind of hurts as well because I literally stood up for majority of 11 hour shift and my feet really hurt.

But otherwise I can't complain lol.

OMC1 · 20/04/2015 12:38

Hope everybody had a lovely weekend! I was so excited on Saturday night, I was watching TV with my DH and felt a few strong movements, so had a peek at belly and we both saw a proper little kick! Amazing!

Got a case of the Mondays today though, I am really starting to struggle with concentrating at work - I just want to wander around patting my belly and looking at baby things!

Dozy Your 4D scan is amazing, what a cutie! Smile

I got my MATB1 last week and tried to submit my request to HR and they told me to wait until next week - annoyed as I wanted to get it all done and dusted! I hope to finish on 17 July (I also have a 36 scan that day!) which is four weeks before DD, using annual leave rather than any of my maternity allowance. I'll only be able to afford between 6 and 9 months maternity leave (not the year some colleagues have been able to have - lucky them!). I hope we can push it to 9, but will have to see.

Can believe I am almost at the six months mark! Where the hell has half a year gone?!

Lilydreams · 20/04/2015 18:04

LadesC- that birthing centre sounds amazing!! That really nhs?!?!

Had a little meltdown yesterday about weight! Stupidly weighed myself and I've put 1.5 stone on! Following that I got ready to go out for SIL's birthday wearing a capped sleeve black dress- fitted stretchy material pre preg normal clothes- with a little belt over bump- was surprisingly quite pleased with myself until DH pointed out not only could he see my knicker line but that whole dress was kinda see through- ended up trying at least 8 pairs of knickers but could see them all and had to put a long strappy black best top on underneath to combat see through ness! Don't get me wrong I was grateful for his honesty as would hate to go out with people thinking 'omg look at state of her' but with the double layers and general amount of faffing I had to do I ended up feeling so crappy an frumpy! Said in the car 'if rather be at work' (I'd took the afternoon off) and when he asked why before I could say 'because I'm comfy in my uniform where I don't look massive' I had filled up and was threatening to ruin my makeup so just said 'just leave me a minute' and poked tissue in my eyes to stop it!

Think I'm just really struggling with changing shape- I actually love my bump it pretty much is cute and neat and haven't noticeably put weight on elsewhere despite what the scales say but then when people are making comments about how big I look/ is it gonna be a big one or what etc it then makes me want to hide it! I lost a good stone and a half 2 years ago before my wedding and had kept it off- am usually very careful what I eat and workout loads preferring to look muscular/ toned especially my arms and I'm just struggling with that being gone! I'd wanted to keep working out but with sickness being so bad to 19 weeks I couldn't and can't help feeling disappointed in myself!

All this said when I was at PIL yesterday had some lovely comments like- you dont even look pregnant from the back and one of SILs friends who is about 6 weeks behind me was there and after she'd gone comments on how much weight she'd put on compared to me were made. BUT can't seem to get myself to focus on these comments and shake off the bad ones!! Driving myself crazy!

Redsparklyshoes · 20/04/2015 18:51

Oh Lily it's totally normal to feel like you are as your body is changing. I'm 21 weeks and also struggling as I used to be an avid gym fan but having to now resort to walking and swimming and watching my body lose its tone.
I also keep saying to people how fat I am and they shrug me off as having a lovely bump but am worried as many people on the weekend said how small my bump was and how neat it was but the first 3 months I had comments on how big I was. You really can't win!
It's my scan tomorrow and am excited but very anxious so fingers crossed my bump is ok.
If I could share how much rubbish I've consumed today you'd not worry at all!
Spaghetti on toast with marmite and bump is moving about nicely but then I have a wobble its all in my head!
Hormones are testing us!!
Keep smiling
Flowers

Lilydreams · 20/04/2015 19:48

Redsparkly- thanks so much! It's good to know its not just me! I know what you mean as well a couple of months ago I was worrying about being too little and worrying about baby- we can't win either way can we!

Good luck and fingers crossed for your scan I'm sure all will be good- enjoy it its so lovely to see how big they have grown since 12 week scan! Are you finding out the sex?

Hormones defo testing us- I lose whole hours having convos with myself (in my head- not that crazy yet!) sometimes feeling good and other times feeling awful! I feel like I'm bipolar!

I had a few weeks of eating crap all day after sickness cleared up at 19 weeks but then the last couple I've concioualy tried to be healthier so I think the scales shocked me so much as well because of that!

Frolicacid · 20/04/2015 20:27

pinkie , I'm also getting loads of comments about being massive. It's horrible. I'm also finding the comments and my changing shape hard to get my head around lily and redsparkly. My bump and norks feel huge. My face is filling out and I'm getting some pigmentation changes. I just don't look like myself any more. It's very odd.

Good luck for the scan tomorrow redsparkly.

I'm sorry your legs are swelling dozy. I've no idea what to suggest. I'm lucky that I'm not on my feet all day. I work in the community and can cool myself down with the car air con when I travel between appts. I hate my legs as they are fat and horrible at the best of times. I can't begin to think how they'll look by the time I'm full term.

The sickness has been better today. Hopefully it stays that way. I'm super hungry and super exhausted after a weekend of puking. DH has just gone out to get me ice cream and white chocolate to tuck into while we catch up with poldark. I'm definitely craving dairy.
