Glad you're feeling better today frolic :)

Lily sounds like a lovely scan experience and great you got some good photos. I'm on the lookout for a 4 photo frame that I can put my scan photos in and hang on the wall showing baby's growth from 8-20 weeks :)

Welcome mrsbrionys!

Equimum Thankyou yes will have a restful day today-hard to know if the pelvic pain is getting worse because I've had a very busy week or because I'm getting bigger-I'm hoping it's just that I haven't rested enough! At least you got some puzzles, you might have luck on facebook local selling pages?

Mzzzf good luck with your pram choice! Think we will buy ours in the next few weeks, decided on bugaboo chameleon (now if I could just decide on nursery furniture!)

Yes dozy how exciting when we eventually start getting birth stories on here, I wonder who will be the first!

Going to buy some paint samples for the nursery this week :) Figure I better paint before I get too big! Very exciting, this is such a fun stage of pregnancy :)

mzzzf · 12/04/2015 09:53

WOWZERS!!!! Just read the bit you guys were talking about. How awful, spiteful and horrid. What a bunch of cowbags!! Cannot believe that purdiepie poster - shocking!

I have finally decided on the Mamas & Papas Armadilo Flip XT, I'm not buying a carrycot as I think they're a bit pointless. So instead I'm getting the newborn insert thing that looks like a snugly sleepy bag and it means I can keep the little lady strapped in and secure, unlike in a carrycot. It annoys me that carrycots are so expensive for use of a couple of months/until baby can roll/sit up - grrrr!

mzzzf · 12/04/2015 09:59

Btw how awesome is the weather today. Hope you all get a chance to enjoy a bit of it Grin

Dozygirl · 12/04/2015 10:22

Raining where I live mzzf lol. But I need to tidy the house desperately so I don't feel so bad missing out on sunshine while I'm tidying Up.

I need to start cracking on with painting the nursery so I can get new carpets fitted. It's all getting more real now isn't it!

frolic I actually dreamed about cheese and ham sandwiches last night and they were so delicious. U definitely could be craving cheese! Hope ur throat gets better soon. Thanks for tip on asos. Will check it out although I've been spending too much this month so may not have a lot left for many new things. I did get some brilliant maternity jeans from m&p in their easter sale last weekend. They are so comfy.

ruby hope your pelvic pain eases off after some rest.

Frolicacid · 12/04/2015 10:51

Morning all!! I've only just woken up!! I'm lazy at the best of times, but pregnancy has bought it to a whole new level!

Crap weather here today. DH is off surfing (the nutter). I'm planning on a lazy day sofa loafing with our old dog. I'll probably indulge in some mumsnet, e-baying and even more pram research.

I hope your pelvic pain is better today ruby. Rest up.

I love the armadillo flip mzzf. If we didn't need an all terrain, I think I'd be looking at one of them. I know what you mean about a carry cot. Our house is pretty small and the pram will have to come into the lounge/diner, so I'm thinking of getting a carry cot to save having a Moses basket down stairs.

I dream loads about food dozy! It was crunchy nut corn flakes the other night! I have also had a few abput g&t's!! Having one with a curry is the only booze I've missed as yet.

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday Smile

LadesC · 12/04/2015 13:38

Im going for that one too mzzzf. (sorry dont know how to bold ur name!) Love the navy one with the tan handle and the basket underneath is nice n big. The lady in the shop assured me it should be fine as an all terrain as suspension is good so fingers crossed! I desp wanted the carrycot...purely for me really as think it looks so lovely but cant justify the expense as we are also in middle of building work. Will have a look at the newborn insert as was worried she would look a bit exposed over the winter months in the buggy. Am off to a mamas and papas event in a couple of weekendd time so hoping for a bargain but if not Birmingham baby show is a few weeks later.

mzzzf · 12/04/2015 15:56

frolic the XT version of the armadillo is all terrain. We have two pointer-X dogs and will be out and about a lot. Especially as I do open water swimming too, so the buggy will have to keep up! After smashing it about the shop I reckon it's up to the task, plus the fold-up space of it is dead handy as we need all the car space we can get! Also loving the two year guarantee.

ladesc yup that's the one I like the look of too! plus it's not too girly for DH to push too! Wink

And YES TO CHEESE!!! I've been a cheese monster recently too - cannot get enough!

mzzzf · 12/04/2015 15:57

Btw I've not even thought about car seats yet - although I do know I won't be getting one to click onto the buggy. My physio principles of positioning are standing firm on that, probably much to a future sleeping baby's disgust!

Frolicacid · 12/04/2015 16:26

Oh no mzzf, now I'm even more confused! I love the armadillo. But the 12year old shop assistant in m&p told me it's not suitable for all terrain! But if you've had a play and think it is, it might be worth another look. I'll still be undecided by the time he arrives at this rate.

So, TMI alert - I just went to tidy my hairy fanjo up a bit with the trimmer, only to find I could barely reach properly, especially, ahem, towards the back iykwim. Short arms and big belly aren't a good combination! Please, someone tell me you are having similar issues? Or should I start believing all those who've been calling me huge?

em165 · 12/04/2015 16:35

Frolic - you're not the only one!!

Dozygirl · 12/04/2015 18:46

Aargh car seats. That one has me all confused. I'm going to mothercare tomorrow for some advice but not sure if they'll be any use. Worth a shot though.

Equimum · 12/04/2015 19:49

Frolic, I feel your pain on the shaving front. I am trying to train DH already as I just let it go last time, believing that I wouldn't care by the time I was in labour. Just as I was crowning the midwife announced that DH had a lovely head of dark hair. When he arrived, he was completely bald! When I asked DH why she might have though that he had dark hair, he giggled and said that it was probably my 'overgrown bush'. I was mortified and so will ensure I'm more prepared this time round! (I still blush when I think about it).

We have a car seat dilemma here too. We were given a Maxicosy Pebble for DS, but I was never entirely comfortable with it, worrying that it was unsafe etc. after about 4-5 months we bought a brand new 0+1 car seat, which becomes forwards facing and DS still fits in. We always planned that this would be for the new baby an that we would get DS a 1+2 when the time came. We went and tried them a few weeks ago, but they don't look half as comfortable, and DS still has quite a bit of growth room in this one, so we're now thinking of getting another one which I can bring into the house. That just feels a bit frivolous though, when the new baby could eventually use the 1+2, whereas a carry car seat would only be used for this child.

ruby242 · 12/04/2015 20:12

Dozy let us know if mothercare give any good advice on the best car seat. I basically have no clue what to go for, we are getting it bought for us so not too bothered about the price but just no idea which is the best!

Think I've finally decided on a cot-chiltern from mothercare, currently has £100 off so a good deal :)

Baby boy is kicking away as I type this! :)

Frolicacid · 12/04/2015 20:27

Thanks for making me feel better em and equimum. I told DH and he's agreed to help next time. Pregnancy is so sexy!

I've just had a mint magnum and our boy is getting a bit excited. Do you think I can send DH out to get another one under the premise that baby wants more?

PenguinTuxedo · 12/04/2015 21:23

On that note frolic, I've just got dh to shave me. I felt like a sheep being sheered Grin

Dozygirl · 12/04/2015 21:32

Absolutely frolic!! My little one wiggles more when I eat sugar lol.

I'm giggling so much about this shaving convo. I just told my dp your story equimum sorry! Im not sure I'm gonna be able to persuade him to do it for me, it's hard getting him to do anything for me never mind that! I got a voucher for my birthday from my friends for my local beauty salon so I'm thinking nearer the time I'm gonna go for a full on wax of everything down there. The only problem is getting the timing right. Don't wanna do it too early but wit not knowing when you're gonna go into labour it's hard to book it

My friend said when the contractions started she got in bath and tidied up down there before going to hospital lol.

So many options!

pinkie87 · 13/04/2015 08:14

I always miss so much over the weekends! Will have to do a proper catch up later.

In the way of car seats, we are going to go for the Maxi Cosi cabriofix, with easybase as we don't have isofix, and my car is small too (Ford Ka!) so options are limited but that seems to be a good choice.

Ha!! Loving the shaving issues!! I'm already wondering what to do when I'm further on, I think I'll go with Dozy and book in for a wax, but I have no idea when!

It's finally scan day for me tomorrow! It's been such a long time coming, I'm getting nervous but also so excited. I got a proper kick last night which was quite nice, if a little odd!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. :)

birchwoods · 13/04/2015 08:31

Hi everyone! Can't believe it's Monday again already but no four day week this week Sad

I'm on my phone so can't see who has said what recently so I hope you're all, welcome to the newbies and hope all scans go well.

Equinox, can I ask why you are nervous about using the pebble? It's one that we're considering and has v good safety reviews? Choosing a car seat is so difficult!
I hope you all have a good Monday. I am so tired after another busy weekend and really can't be bothered with work today!!

happygojo · 13/04/2015 09:41

HELLO! I have missed loads. Sorry! Hope everyone is ok. I keep 'forgetting' I am pregnant. 23 weeks today.
Visited a friend this weekend with her 1yo little girl. Was so lovely! I also relieved her of a bouncy chair, a door bouncer, a tummy tub, a bumbo and a bag of newborn clothes. Oh and I have a week off work yessssss!

LadesC · 13/04/2015 09:49

Morning all. Can i pick your brains about changing bags...anyone got any recommendations? Need one thats not too girlie so DP will happily use. Torn between just getting a nice normal bag and a seperate foldable changing mat but also quite like the pacapods. Aaagh decisions!

happygojo · 13/04/2015 10:48

Hi LadesC no personal experience yet but my OH is planning on using a small ish ruck sack that we already have. I might get one to hang on the pram but I might see how I go with one of the million bags I already own first

ChanceBeAFineThing · 13/04/2015 14:23

Just checking in, been busy with the DC and Easter holidays. I completely forgot about all the decisions about prams/car seats/changing bags etc. for your first. Has anyone mentioned slings yet, that was also a massive headache decision Grin.

Luckily just have to get everything out the loft, but that means I don't get to get all excited about this one until much later when we have the joyous task of wading through piles of loft crap to find it all

Lilydreams · 13/04/2015 17:47

Ruby- we were only saying the other day we wanted something nice to do with the scan pics- like you I have 4 lots- a 4 way frame would be fab!

Car seat choosing is a nightmare- I literally spent a whole Saturday researching them and making a table of pros and cons and we have decided on the concord air with an isofix- I daren't look at any more now incase I change my mind it took me that long!

Changing bag wise I am treating myself to pretty much the ONLY full price baby item i will have got and splurging on a Cath Kidston one- dark navy with different coloured spots or navy with green spots I think it was- pram has spots on so will match and isn't girly patterns/ colours so will be fine for DH to use too- I've checked he's happy with this! It's got loadsa helpful compartments, little zip up bag inside, travel changing mat and some have bottle insulator things too- just need to decide which of the 2 I've seen I'm going to get- average splurge or ridiculous splurge! Haha! I figured its going to pretty much replace my handbag for the next year or so so I don't mind the spend on this occasion!

LAM1 · 13/04/2015 19:00

Am still useless at posting on here, I tend to read on the train but its hard reply. I mean to do it when I get in but then get caught up in study and work.

But this journey home I was giggling away at the shaving chat so thought I would get on here as soon as I walked through the door! I may well have been giggling away bit its a very valid point! Guess the hospital has seen all sorts though but now I am wondering what I will do about such issues....

Question on curtains, I have gone for the tusk range in Mothercare but it doesn't have curtains. Has anyone stumbled across nice, plain, cream blackout ones?

Frolicacid · 13/04/2015 19:27

I'm giggling at all the shaving stories! Thank you for making me feel normal!
You are really brave contemplating a wax dozy! I'm too chicken at the best of times. Aren't things supposed to get swollen and extra sensitive down there?

I hope the scan went well pinkie?

We've not given much thought to car seats beyond thinking about the jane matrix as we are looking at the trider pram. It's a lie flat carrycot car seat that also sits up. I've read a bit and it seems to have good reviews and safety ratings. God knows what we'll do if we go for a different pram.

I'm thinking of just buying a portable change mat and wet bag so I can use my beautiful all saints huge leather handbag as a change bag. It has loads of pockets so should be ideal. and it was so expensive I need to use it forever to justify the price

try Willkinsons for blackout curtains LAM. We got some for our lounge from there. They were on sale and only meant to be temporary. But they are so lovely and heavy and hang beautifully that we've stuck with them.

I hope everyone has had a good Monday. I'm off to the beach with the dog before dark Smile
