I wanted all brand new nursery furniture but I've been offered my friends wardrobe and change table and the cot once her baby moves into a big bed which will probably tie in nicely for when my little one moved into her own bedroom as she'll be in a crib to start with so I'm gonna take her offer. Think she only wants 100 quid for i.

Parents in law offered to buy furniture as well but think I'll ask them to buy car seat and base instead. So that means all the big things are sorted and I've not had to pay for any of it thanks to generous family and friends. Now i keep all my savings to help to last a whole year off work. I'd love to be able to be off for 12 months rather than 9. Just not sure how I'll cope with less money.

Its amazing how much detail you can see. We got a pretty awesome picture which shows the spine really well and you can make out each individual vertebrae!

We're hoping that being the first grandchild for 7 grandparents (both mine and OHs parents have remarried) means there won't be a lot left for us to buy! They all seem very keen on spoiling the baby Grin

Keeping an eye out for second hand items of things that we want and I plan on looking in charity shops and at car boots for stuff too.

pinkie87 · 10/04/2015 08:36

Glad you had a lovely scan dillydolly. Can't wait for mine now! Only 4 days to wait.

I seem to have a real problem with buying clothes! Not bought loads but it's so hard to stop myself when I see all the lovely sleepsuits. Currently lusting after this but not sure what age to buy... www.mothercare.com/The-Very-Hungry-Caterpillar-Three-Piece-Set/LE7862,default,pd.html

But we were given a load of stuff yesterday from my brother and sister in law. My niece is 2 now so they gave me LOTS of bedding and clothes! So I really need to stop buying things completely, especially if my friend is organising a baby shower at some point! Ditching the nearly new sale I planned to go to tomorrow and off to yoga instead.

dillydollydarling · 10/04/2015 09:18

I am the complete opposite Pinkie (well OH is!). So far we've bought 2 items, a blankie and a babygrow. Everything else has been presents from baby's grandparents. I really want to start buying things now but OH seems to think that we won't actually need to buy much ourselves and he doesn't want a room full of stuff for the next 20 weeks. Going to try and convince him that its going to start going pretty quickly and we need to be prepared!

pinkie87 · 10/04/2015 09:19

dillydolly you are far more sensible than me! I know we will be given lots more than we already have but I still struggle to control myself! My OH has said no more clothes now, although I may just need to buy a going home outfit.... Blush

dillydollydarling · 10/04/2015 10:31

Trust me, if he wasn't so adamant, I would have a whole room full of adorable clothes by now!! Grin

rascalrae · 10/04/2015 10:55

Ladies, I'm having a little panic. Is anyone finding that they are not putting on much weight? My book says I should have gained 10lbs by now but I've only gained about 3. I'm a size 12, not very active, weight is normally pretty stable. Was very nauseous in 1st trimester so lost a bit then, but I do feel bigger now, my bump is growing, everything was normal at my scan. I'm freaking out! I've been eating normally, don't have a bigger appetite than pre-pregnancy and find I get full quite quickly. Should I be forcing more down? Anyone else in a similar position? I expected to be struggling with too much weight gain, not the other way around. Do I need to see the midwife? Sorry to ramble on!

Dozygirl · 10/04/2015 11:52

Lol rascal I wouldn't be worried about that. I wish I wasn't putting weight on! Just remember everyone is different. Some people barely look pregnant all the way through and others get massive bump. it's not all to do with what u eat etc. Just enjoy the fact u don't look like a whale like i Do.

OMC1 · 10/04/2015 14:50

dillydollydarling Your scan sounded lovely, glad that all went well! The black & white babysuit sounds adorable!

pinkie87 Oh, I adore the Hungry Caterpillar set - I am currently in love with these: www.mothercare.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-MCENGB-Site/default/Product-Show?pid=LE9940 which I can see either a boy or a girl wearing with the right top underneath!

I think for a couple of outfits I really love, I will get them in size 6 months, then at least I have a better chance of baby fitting into them at some point!

rascalrae I'm trying not to be envious of you! Hehe, but seriously don't worry - as Dozy said, everybody is different and you might put more of your weight on towards the end of the pregnancy! I am sure your midwife will keep an eye on you and tell you if there's a problem Smile

Equimum · 10/04/2015 18:53

rascal, like everyone else has said, there is a huge variation in the amount if weight people gain, and if toy lost some in the first trimester, you are unlikely to have gained as much as someone who gained then as well.

pinkie, I live that Hungry Caterpillar set. OMC, I have a real thing for dungarees, and so does DH. In fact, DH has already asked if we can focus on buying dungarees to full the gaps in our clothes collection! I have been browsing the John Lewis website this morning and realising I have expensive taste! I love the Joules sleepsuits, but not sure that I can warrant £20 for just one!

dilly, DH was exactly the same when I was expecting DS1. He refused to look at baby things until well past the 20 week scan, even though I was contemplating choosing a pram which needed pre-ordering. In the end, though, we did manage to get everything we needed in time, and I actually enjoyed being able to do some (internet) shopping once DS arrived.

We're off to a nearly new sale tomorrow as I want a few bits like a second bouncer chair for upstairs. DS1 is also mad on jigsaws at the moment, so I will also be in the lookout for those. It is amazing how quickly you progress from buying newborn clothes to 12 piece puzzles!

AliOh · 11/04/2015 07:08

Hi everyone thought Id check in, I haven't been on the thread for ages Blush must try harder! I'm afraid I find the facebook group easier to keep up with so mumsnet tends to get neglected Confused. Hope everyone is feeling well now we are getting past 20 weeks - time is flying!!

karatekimmi · 11/04/2015 07:31

We still haven't brought anything yet, but I need to get all my baby stuff out the loft!!

As everyone says rascal don't worry - baby is a parasite and steals everything it needs from you!! Make sure your eating healthily not jealous at all

I've put on 10lb so far must stay away from biscuits

Bluebell84 · 11/04/2015 09:04

hi I am due August 29th with a little girl

no movements yet :(

it's my third so no buying prams what not but did get a pink grow :):)

Frolicacid · 11/04/2015 10:45

Good morning!
I've not checked in for a few days as I've been feeling shitty. I've had a sore throat every night and been so tired. It seemed to have passed today thank god. 12 hours sleep last night seems to have helped!

I've not read back properly yet. I hope everyone is ok? I've just had loads of parcels full of baby clothes from e-bay. Loads of cute baby grows, a blanket and snow suit. Most brand new and all in great condition. my best buy was 16 like new newborn vests for 99p!! It's all starting to feel very real now!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend Smile

mzzzf · 11/04/2015 11:15

Morning ladies!! Hope all is grand and you've all bloomed whilst I've been soaking up some rays!

Holiday blues have kicked in since coming back but I fully recommend a break, especially before you get too big and uncomfortable!

I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow - argh! Can't believe it! I've treated smaller babies at work so I'm glad the bump has grown enough to be medically viable (a big thing for me!) as it means I'm now starting to relax and enjoy being pregnant, plus at 6 months my bump looks bumpy!! Grin

Dozygirl · 11/04/2015 11:32

Mzzf are u a neonatal nurse too?! I am!

Iwishicouldflyfarfaraway · 11/04/2015 13:46

Hi , I've been lurking on this thread for a while , due 19th August thought I might dip my toe in now it seems to be getting closer.

Frolicacid · 11/04/2015 14:06

Just read back.

rascal, I lost over a stone with hg in the first 16 weeks. I'm 21 now and still havent put it all back on. Try not to worry. We are all so different, the guidelines are just a guide. Plenty of people will vary each way.

dozy, yay for affording 12 months off. We are trying to think of ways to make it happen. I'm a bit torn between wanting as much time off as I can and being worried I'll hate not working Hmm!

Holiday blues are shit mzzf! I hope you feel better soon. We keep thinking about grabbing a cheeky week somewhere next month, but I'm worried about my hg coming back.

I know some of you on here were on the ttc buses and saw that you have recently posted there again. I'm not going to say this over there as I can't be bothered with the abuse I'd most likely get, but can I just say how much I agree with you.

What the actual fuck is going on there? Where has the supportive to everyone, non judgemental and non cliquey vibe gone? It's such a shame that a few posters have taken over and completely changed the nature of the ride. I saw this coming a few months ago when I posted my 12 week scan pic. I'd been asked to come back by old friends, but felt I had quite a sarky, pa response from some of the new faces.

I've noticed a few familiar faces aren't posting there much these days. I hope that's out of choice and not because they feel pushed out by the different nature of the buses now. I know some of you occasionally lurk, and I hope you are all ok and wish you the best of luck for your journeys.

Anyway, I feel like I should also say now how much I appreciate the good vibes and support on this thread. I love coming on to chat with others on the same boat, and feed my pram obsession! Long may it continue!! Flowers

ruby242 · 11/04/2015 18:13

Back from a week away in Cornwall so finally got around to posting on here!

Suffering with pelvic pain and lower back pain today ah think I overdid it shopping. Suddenly my stomach has popped, I feel massive-cant imagine how big I'll end up getting!! Is nice now that strangers actually notice I'm pregnant though :)

Equimum did you find anything at the nearly new sale? I went to one but it wasn't that great, think most of the good stuff had gone by the time I arrived so I only got some books.

Rascal I'm sure you will catch up weight wise-enjoy it for now :) Pretty sure it's normal to grow at different rates :)

Welcome iwishicouldfly!

Agree frolic that this board is wonderful and supportive-I've learnt a lot from here (not many friends with babies/pregnant so I love hearing how others are going at this stage)

Lilydreams · 11/04/2015 19:15

Frolic- hope your throat is better soon!

Welcome flyfaraway!

Mzzzf- glad you had a lovely holiday- I'm so jealous! We wanted to go away before baby arrives originally but with us buying the new house we've decided to save the money for that! The nice weather this week has made me want to go again though but never mind!

Can't think what else has been posted- left it a bit too long again to post sorry!

We had our repeat scan this week and I can't believe how much he has grown in 3 weeks- abdomen circumference measuring 40mm bigger in 3 weeks! makes me feel better that im looking biggerA although all bump- i was beginning to feel frumpy like it was fat not baby, but seeing hes grown so much so quickly is reassuring its nit just fat! (although some is!) He wasn't letting the sonographer see all the views of his heart she needed at 19 weeks hence the repeat- so glad we ended up having it- they were using a new machine again and kept apologising that there were a lot of staff in the room and it was taking a while- I was like 'oh its absolutely fine not to worry' and it paid off- got 4 free photos and she did us the cutest one of his little foot! They'd initially said we'd have to go into the other room on the old machine for pics so I'd said not to worry as we had pics from 19 weeks but ten they worked out how to print off the new one whilst I was in there hence he free pics 'to say thanks for being a guinea pig' as she said! Also confirmed little boy saying 'although we can never say 100% I would tell you it's a girl but those are definately testicles an a penis!' Grin haha she was hilarious!! Xx

mrsbrionys · 11/04/2015 19:43

Hello All!

I've only just found this thread, due 8th August with baby no.1

So good to see lots of babies due in the same month :)

x

Equimum · 11/04/2015 20:47

Welcome to all the new posters -mrsbrionys, Iwish, bluebell and anyone else I may have missed.

Great to hear that you had a good scan this time Lily. When the sonographer told us we were having a boy and DH asked if she was sure, she replied that they never say 100% but that she would stop telling people the gender if we had a girl. That was enough reassurance for me Smile.

I'm glad you had a nice holiday ruby. Can you have a restful day tomorrow? Unfortunately the nearly new sale was a bit disappointing. There weren't any bouncer chairs when we arrived, ten minutes after opening, and lots of the clothes I looked at were in worse condition that some I have binned from DS1. I ended up buying several puzzles for DS1, as he currently loves them, and a sleeping bag.

mzzzf · 11/04/2015 21:00

Ooooooooh what's happened on the TTC boards then? I popped back occassionalkyt to see if some long timers got a BFP but I felt the nature of the buses changing near to when I got my BFP. I did just have a look there and it looks like an AN type bus with babies being born rather than made... Confused

Welcome to all the new ladies! And lovely hearing about the scans, I still think team blue are out-numbering us team pinks though!

I think I'm going to actually make a decision and buy a pram/pushchair in the next fortnight - argh!!

Dozy no I'm not a nurse, I'm a physio who gets to play on PICU a fair bit.

Dozygirl · 11/04/2015 23:41

Ah that's also very cool mzzf. It's weird that when I reach 24 weeks I'll be nursing babies that are the same size as the one inside me. I think you looked at the wrong April bus though mzzf. You'd know if you'd seen the right one. It was horrendous. Some really horrible comments being said to occasional posters which was completely uncalled for the people who said them used their difficult journeys and they fact they post regularly as some sort of right to belittle people.

Frolic you may have seen my comment but I didn't really write everything I want to. I think they completely misunderstood what the outsiders were trying to say. Regardless of someone's journey, if they don't like that they've just posted a bfp photo then they can just ignore it and move on but instead they wrote horrible replies and if that had been me I'd have been so upset. But the fact they don't seem apologetic about what they've said just astounded me.

This thread is just perfect. Started off a bit slow but it's getting going now and I love all the useful tips Etc. I was just thinking earlier about how strange it's going to be when we're getting close to the end and people start having birthing stories to share etc! It's going to get exciting then.

I hope you're back feels better tomorrow ruby. Very envious of your Cornwall holiday in the glorious weather.
I'm also getting to the stage where people notice I'm pregnsnt. It's quite nice.

Your scan sounds fab lily.

Welcome mrsbri.

mzzf, have you decided what pram you're going for? I'm still utterly obsessed researching. I'm glad I started looking early as I think it will take me ages to decide.

dozy, nursing those babies is going to be quite emotional for you I would imagine. I have so much respect for nurses, you do an amazing job.
I agree with you 100% about the ttc threads. Such a shame to see that kind of attitude. I'm glad we're over here where everyone is lovely, friendly and welcoming.
blueberry also copped it over there. I hope you're ok lovely if you're reading. Come and join us! I miss your wisdom.

My sore throat is much better today. And I seem to have eaten my body weight in cheese sandwiches today. Can enmental be a craving?

I've just been looking at asos and they have quite a lot of maternity stuff in the sale at the moment if anyone's looking.
