Morning everyone! I've missed so much over the weekend. I will have to do a proper read later. Weekend was nice though, I managed to fit quite a lot in. Seeing family and friends and then yesterday we managed to get the first coat of paint on in the nursery. It's very green, but we love it! Not ready to be back at work today, boo! :(

Welcome to Miss, twister, heffa and red!

Oh and I'm finally feeling movements! It's very odd! They are still quite faint but can definitely feel it. Grin

OMC1 · 07/04/2015 10:13

Welcome to the thread Missymum6, MissTwister, HeffaLumpers & Redsparklyshoes !

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and indulged in their favourite treats and cravings! I ate my bodyweight in white chocolate - totally worth it! Easter Smile

Red, we had our 20 week scan recently and are also keeping it a surprise - although I have been intently studying the scan photo for clues! Haha! Apparently, if you believe such things, all my symptoms and cravings point to a girl, but they way I am carrying points to a boy! Still 50/50! Hope your nausea doesn't last too long and you're feeling better now!

Dozygirl Well done on finishing the essay! I can imagine that is a huge relief! Smile Shame you didn't get much time off over Easter. How are you feeling this week?

Frolic I'm back to work today as well - boo! Am officially beginning the count down until maternity leave starts!

Pinkie Hooray for feeling movements - isn't it just the strangest feeling ever?! So lovely though, makes it feel even more real! My movements are definitely getting stronger, I can't wait until my DH can feel them too!

Has anybody got their 20 week scan this week?

Fanby · 07/04/2015 10:51

Bonjour and a big hello to all of the newbies and bumps :) Sounds like everyone had a lovely indulgent Easter! Brussels was lovely (although I think the weather was better here!) and I too ate faaaarr too much! Did have a small freak out to myself as I had half a glass of bubbles at our anniversary dinner and then didn't feel any movement all evening but the next morning and soon as DH put his hand on bump he got a nice 'doosh' off baby. There were delays on the Eurostar coming back last night and I clearly look pregnant now rather than just a chubbster as they took pity on us queuing and ushered us to the front and gave us entry to the business premiere lounge to wait in style. Heavenly!

Dozy Hurrah for completing your essay! I used to hate that overwhelming panicky feeling when you have deadlines. You should feel very proud of yourself and I bet that weight has been lifted.
An afternoon tea themed baby shower sounds lovely! You should definitely celebrate, and it should be all about you and bump!! Although I must say I'm in the same boat as you by the sounds of it, i.e. not a massive fan of them in general. One of my friends is desperate to organise one for me, however i'm pushing her more towards an informal afternoon tea with no presents (although presents are always lovely!!). We got married a year ago and everyone was so generous then. My biggest fear though is that if I do have one, will people not come and visit when baby is here? I've started to stress slightly about coping when DH is back at work and what I will do with a newborn?!!?!?! I love how i've skipped the panic about late pregnancy and birth etc :) And speaking of baby showers – any updates on the unexpected/invited guests happygojo?? How did it go on Sunday?

Pinkie how was yoga? Hope you have a better week at work this week.

rascalrae I'm glad your scan went well, 3 hours is an epically long time, but at least the trainee sonographer would have been thorough with that duration!!

Finally it's my scan week this week, nerves are really kicking in now!! x

P0llyP0cketR0cket · 07/04/2015 11:43

Hi all, I haven't posted since I 1st found out I was preggo but will now make an effort to do so!

I'm 22 + 5 and feeling HUGE. I absolutely hate it. The urge to start eating a lot less is overwhelming Confused Anyone else with SPD? It's all making me so sad!

pinkie87 · 07/04/2015 11:48

Yeah OMC, totally strange, but nice of course! DH keeps trying to feel even though I've told him it will be weeks yet!

Fanby I enjoyed the yoga! Bit strange at first getting into the right mindset as it's not really something I've done before and I am a slight cynic about "opening up my heart" and the numerous other things they say, but I will definitely go back. The positions and breathing I think will be helpful in labour. Work should be easier this week I hope, we are fully staffed again. Eek scan week for you at last! I hope it goes quickly for you this week! Hope your anniversary dinner was lovely too. :)

Dozy congrats on the essay, what a huge relief!

pinkie87 · 07/04/2015 11:49

Oh another question quickly, when/where do I get my MATb1? Do I get it at my scan or do I have to go to the midwife for it? My next appointment isn't til 24 weeks.

P0llyP0cketR0cket · 07/04/2015 11:51

I asked for my matb at my scan but she couldn't do it for me. The midwives had all gone for lunch otherwise they would have given me one, so now I'm waiting for my 24 week app.

happygojo · 07/04/2015 12:37

Fanby The only time the shower was mentioned over the weekend was 'Oh you should have it at SIL's house'.... I panicked and said 'I think my friend is set on hosting it' This is a complete fabrication BUT my SIL smokes more than tobacco if you catch my drift (my in laws sound just peachy don't they!?) and I am not inviting my mum and my line manager to a house that smells like a student house. Anyway no more was mentioned.

However, it was mentioned a few times that 'Ellen is such a lovely name'.... Ellen is my MIL's middle name.... I have nothing against the name and it was even on the table as a middle name.... but her insistence has pushed it off said table.

Pinkie I was told that I am going to get my Mat1b at my 25 week appointment. be sure to mention it if the MW doesn't mention it first. You don't need to hand it in until you are 25 weeks.

I am having a bit of a freakout. I think I might be starting to accept that I am actually pregnant and that it will result in a baby!

Fanby · 07/04/2015 12:47

Ah glad yoga went well pinkie-I've only been once too (hoping to finally make a second class tomorrow!). Concur with some of the sayings from the teacher but I think the breathing exercises could be invaluable!

happy - They've moved onto names!! Crikey what will be next??! Good move on the quick thinking for venue, I'm sure one of your friends will offer to host tooSmile!!

Redsparklyshoes · 07/04/2015 13:02

Thanks all so much for the warm welcome.
I had a nasty violent stomach bug with violent sickness on Friday so think the nausea feeling is the last bits of that. I'm so sorry for anyone having to suffer with daily sickness my sincere hugs to you. I broke down after 12 hours let alone mo this and months of it!
Finally feeling more of than fat but still worried I'm in the in between stage of just having eaten loads haha!

I'm sure I will do the same at the next scan as I don't want to know but looking for clues!

Enjoy the sunny weather ladies! I can't believe I'm almost half way!!
Flowers

Dozygirl · 07/04/2015 17:04

pollypocket I feel huge too! In fact I just described myself as a whale to my friend. I feel absolutely fine, I just can't stop eating. Usually I am permanently on a diet (and only succeeding at maintaining my weight really) but feeling generally ok with my body but now I'm pregnant I just eat whatever I want even though I know I shouldnt so it's making me feel really unhappy with body. I know for a fact I'm not just putting weight on where the baby is. My bum and love handles and legs are most definitely increasing. And it's all my own fault so I only have myself to blame.

Sorry about that, just having a bit of a downer because the sun's coming out which reminded me that soon it'll be the weather for less clothes and I'm not going to enjoy wearing little summer dresses this year because I'm a whale. Sad

fanby people who come to your baby shower will most definitely want to come visit u once the baby comes so I don't think you should worry about that. Everyone loves a newborn baby cuddle.

So relieved about the essay, now I just need to do one more before I have this baby and then I can completely enjoy mat leave and feel proud that I finally got the degree I should have got a few years ago. Now is probably the time to do it though before I start with any pregnancy problems later on.

I am happy it's finally sunny though. I get my four day weekend this weekend instead because it's my birthday. And has frolic reminded me, next year we won't be working over easter and bank holidays yey. I literally cannot wait to have all of christmas and new year off for the first time in 10 years. Joys of working shifts lol.

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 07/04/2015 19:55

Evening all!

pinkie, I can't believe you are already painting the nursery. Super organisational skills.

I've not had my matB thingy form and won't be seeing my midwife until 25 weeks.

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend fanby. And yay for special pregnant lady queue jumping treatment!

Oh my god happy! I can't believe your mil is now trying to chose names. She's more than a little bit excited, isn't she. Put down plenty of boundaries before baby arrives .
I'm with you on the whole thing of it sinking in. I think I actually believe I am having a baby now I know he's a boy and I can feel frequent movement.

Feel better soon red. Welcome back polly.

I feel huge as well dozy. I really need to start thinking about what I'm eating now I'm keeping most of it down. I think I've eat more this weekend than I did through ought January and February put together. Trouble is, I still mainly fancy chips, ice cream and cheese sarnies. Hopefully I'll feel more up for some gentle excersize now the evenings are nicer. I did manage to get to the beach with the dog this evening, which is a start.

I don't work shifts as I'm community based. But I always work over Christmas and so will also be looking forward to having it all off this year.

I hope everyone who was back at work today had a good one. Anyone else watching obem tonight?

Dozygirl · 07/04/2015 21:28

Got it on record ready to watch when dp isn't home lol.

OP posts:
happygojo · 08/04/2015 09:39

I watched OBEM last night and wish I hadn't. This series seems to have a high rate of inductions and interventions so it is just petrifying me.

I have also found out that the delivery suite at my hospital is being refurbished and will be due for completion July/August (apparently Hmm) so I will either be in the midwife led unit (most ideal.... but only 3 rooms) OR the Antenatal/Postnatal ward if I have to have any sort of increased monitoring for whatever reason. They are also requesting only 1 birth partner and I really want my mum there. My next nearest hospital is an hour away and is often so busy that they close the unit. They also have a higher rate of intervention. I also don't want to change hospitals and then miss out on having a sexy new delivery suite that is all singing and all dancing.... it is causing me a bit of anxiety!

My friend told me not to worry as when it comes down to it, all you care about is it being over and everything being ok and that you can't control anything!

Missymum6 · 08/04/2015 16:48

Hi ladies thanks for all the welcomes, had a nightmare few days of pain in my hip and trying to get hold of a midwife, makes me wish I stuck to the hospital I had my first in!! I stopped watching obem when I was pregnant with my first, just made me a wreck! How are you all feeling? I've got my scan next Wednesday. Lol happy mine keeps pushing lily down my throat, it's a nice name but not for me. Must of told her 300 times i dont like it Grin

PerpetualSummer · 08/04/2015 22:04

Hi All

Easter was spent recovering from my cold / cough but so glad that this Is a 4 day week.

Welcome to the newbies! I too am suddenly feeling huge thus week, especially at the end of the day.

Dozygirl - good work on finishing your essay.

Pinkie - glad you enjoyed yoga. I have been doing yoga for a bit before getting pregnant but found pregnancy yoga to be really slow. Tried pregnancy Pilates on Tuesday which I enjoyed as it was much more dynamic and could actually feel soreness in my arms and legs (shows you how much I haven't excercise do those bits) so probably going to try at doing at least one of each class a week and perhaps a second pilates class if I can sneak out of work early enough.

Missy - maybe tell your MIL that yes you are going to name your daughter lily just to get her to stop. And then on the day, you can just say - sorry changed our minds!

Missymum6 · 09/04/2015 05:52

I wouldn't mind but we don't even know if it is a girl yet! On my side my daughter is the first grandchild on oh side theres 4 girls so everyones thinking another girl. My oh has been getting crazy name ideas off his friend from work (his wife is expecting aswell.) Last night he told me that he was picking the name as I named the first born and the dog and it's only fair which I suppose is true but GOD KNOWS what he is going to come up with after the things he was saying last night.

pinkie87 · 09/04/2015 08:16

Missy I feel ya with the hip pain, mine's been playing up a lot this week (maybe overdid it a little on the weekend and work's still quite busy). Is yours on one side or both? I also have my scan next week, feel I've been waiting forever!!

Perpetual ah I see. Having never done yoga before I didn't really know how slow it would be so I'll just stick with it for now, pilates does sound interesting though and I have done that before! I'm interested in starting some form of proper exercise again but my hip is playing up a lot, and I don't really like swimming!

happy oh gosh sorry you're feeling anxious about the hospital! That's the last thing you need. I guess it's true though, at the end of the day you just want it to be over and to have a healthy bubba in your arms.

frolic don't even talk to me about over eating - at least you haven't been doing it throughout the whole pregnancy - eek! Glad you are managing to keep things down at last. I have been eating too much chocolate and biscuits the past few weeks, I am feeling so guilty but seem to have lost all will power!

dozy hope you have a lovely birthday weekend! :D

Missymum6 · 09/04/2015 09:23

Hi pinkie, just on my left side never had anything like it the first time round, but I do have a low lying placenta so maybe that has something to do with it. Just getting ready to see gp again now so hopefully he can be helpful this time. Xx

OMC1 · 09/04/2015 09:53

Dozygirl Enjoy your birthday weekend!

happygojo I would be the same as you, feeling anxious, in that situation, but I am sure it will all work out for the best in the end!

PerpetualSummer I feel huge this week and a few people have even commented, saying I have "popped" and that I look huge (uh, thanks...) I am definitely bigger at the end of the day as well!

Missymum6 I have a lot of people, particularly the MIL, are presuming we're having a girl as there are all girls at the moment - I don't mind either way, but I am getting a bit fraught with all the pink clothes I am being brought/given! Definitely stick t your guns re: the name too!

I have to announce to you all that today I am wearing the BIGGEST knickers I have ever purchased and they are honestly the comfiest things ever. I don't think I'll ever go back now... Sorry, Hubby! Grin

rascalrae · 09/04/2015 11:49

OMC1 did you go for maternity knickers or just bigger? I can't decide what to buy. Don't want to spend much but it's nice to be comfortable. I have a drawer full of thongs that are unlikely to see the light of day for many, many months!

Dozygirl · 09/04/2015 12:10

rascal Ive just gone for cheapo knickers from tesco at 2.50 a packet and bigger ones so I can just throw them away after.

happy fingers crossed the fancy new delivery suite opens just in time for when u go into labour. That would be awesome. Can understand ur worry though.

Sorry to those with hip/pelvic pain. I don't have any pain at all. I think it's because I have such wide hips so must be plenty of space for baby inside but I don't know if that's true lol.

I'm gonna try the yoga class next week I think if I remember. Hope the sun carry on shining this weekend. I'm loving it

OP posts:
OMC1 · 09/04/2015 16:04

rascalrae I brought the ones labelled as 'full briefs' in a size bigger than my current size from Primark, in black. I think they were £2.50 for four! Cheap & cheerful!

dillydollydarling · 09/04/2015 18:10

Had my 20 week scan today! Was so lovely to see baby wriggling and kicking away! Everything is normal so very reassuring Smile

After the scan we went to visit my in-laws and they had bought loads of baby stuff. Clothes and nappies and wipes etc Grin we also bought a little bodysuit that says 'I've been inside for 9 months' and is white with black stripes :D

Looking at prams and cots etc is starting to make it all feel a bit more real! But I'm super excited and can't wait for baby to get here!!

Missymum6 · 09/04/2015 20:14

Ahh how lovely dillydolly, they look so different at 20 weeks dont they? I haven't done any shopping yet, I guess I should get my arse in gear before I become so huge I can't walk Grin.
