I think haggis has got liver in I'm afraid Snowflake, sorry!

misssmilla1 · 22/03/2015 17:05

I have been trying to avoid the don't eat list of foods, but today I went food shopping and our local supermarket has removed all of its walnuts due to a salmonella scare. Guess what I had for breakfast this morning... Goes to show that you can't avoid everything!

I think the US and UK are different on the deli meats, probably down the differing food hygiene approach. A lot of corner shops have deli counters that serve sandwiches and stuff, but I'd hazard a guess the meat is there a while, and food prep cleanliness isn't as rigorous. I often see the guys at the breakfast bagel place using the same knife on meat, fish and veggie options, wiping down the knives with the same cloth etc

This latest talk has actually kicked off my anxiety and made me feel worse towards food so I think I'll avoid this thread for a few days.

Any scans or appointments coming up good luck

snowflake do you like black pudding? Haggis is definitely out but black pudding is actually an amazing thing to eat when you're pregnant as it's so iron rich. Gorgeous pan fried in (non pre-packed) salad with poached (lion stamped] eggs and crispy (cooked) pancetta/streaky bacon Wink

Envious Wow - great detective work! Seriously pleased to find that out!

Nevertheless, this is a really good recipe that we make every once in a while with veggie haggis: www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/v/vegetarian_haggis_with_warm_butter_bean_and_spinach_salad.html

Treaclepie19 · 22/03/2015 20:54

I had my subway earlier. Worst thing I could've done - I feel rotten now!!!

Too much sauce I think.

envious oh macsween is the best! I love you! Going to get my haggis fix this weekGrin

Snowflake15 · 22/03/2015 22:08

lastnight strangely enough, I love haggis but have always been scared to eat black pudding - stupid I know! I think it's because I had haggis before I knew what it was!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 23/03/2015 04:41

Never even crossed my mind to think about haggis, is the amount of liver high enough to make it a no go? sadly thinks about haggis in fridge

sauvblanc21 · 23/03/2015 06:40

Urgh rotten night's "sleep"! It's time to get me one of those pillow things - can anyone advise me on the bestest one to get for the bestest night's sleep??? Huge thanks in advance!! Xx

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 23/03/2015 06:47

Havetea I'm quite laissez faire but liver is one of my big no-nos. Shame, as it's my secret lasagne ingredient! Macsweens is the way forward though!

sauv nor I - am in a premier inn and the bed is comfy but the ventilation kept coming on and off all night long so was quite a disturbed night. Now I have to do this bloomin' review and have a thumping headache I can't take any drugs for!

Meinthecorner · 23/03/2015 07:06

Sauv I bought the argos body pillow last weekend and it is amazing wish i had it last time. It's still £7 here's the link www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3768789.htm

Only niggle is there is a hollow patch where it came folded in half.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 23/03/2015 07:20

When will the nausea stop?! It keeps disappearing to lull me into a false sense of security, then strikes when I'm not expecting it!

Boodlymummy · 23/03/2015 07:31

Another vote here for the bargain Argos pillow. DH and I love it, it's been christened Mr Snuggles in our house!

Fluffin · 23/03/2015 08:01

I bought the Argos pillow yesterday! Woke up in the middle of the night to find DH wrapped around it, so may need to get him one!

Meinthecorner · 23/03/2015 08:09

Yeah I caught OH having a sneaky cuddle with the pillow 'I thought it was you ....'!

Jessica32 · 23/03/2015 08:26

sauv I haven't bought a pillow yet but need too. Also deliberating. It sounds more expensive but a few ladies on here have also praised the dream geni.

THEworrywart · 23/03/2015 08:51

Agh. I've always slept on my left side because of low bp now that I'm pregnant I can't sleep on my left side?! Only my right so the pregnancy + low bp = major lightheadedness Angry

lovesmycake · 23/03/2015 08:55

lastnight you can take paracetamol when pregnant it's pretty much the only thing you can take. I get horrendous headaches throughout the 2nd trimester and would be lost without paracetamol!

lovesmycake · 23/03/2015 08:57

The advice is to sleep on your left side worry or did you mean you physically can't?

THEworrywart · 23/03/2015 09:03

I can't since getting pregnant I don't know why! I've only ever slept on my left
