Well MIL (to be) has given me a £50 M&S vouchers for maternity clothes. Bought 2 bras & some jeans! She's a good un! Can't imagine having a monster in law like some people, I think she's just glad somebody can put up with her son Wink
Hope you all had a good mothers day xx

Treaclepie19 · 15/03/2015 22:19

Guavas! I'm so glad I read that.
I've been having stabbing vagina pains and they were worrying me :/

sauv thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely check them out and I think a bigger cup size sounds perfect, the tightness round the chest is making me feel sick! I just posted on the FB group today about the hairband on jeans, so comfy and such a relief compared to them being buttoned up and bulging overHmm

Ooh, everyone who is looking at bras - you must look up the Better Bra Campaign way of measuring (with a tape measure). Or as the Style & Beauty bra interventionists for help.

I was wearing a 38B last pregnancy... I was actually a 32F, fitted in Bravissimo. Realised my regular size was actually 32DD, and I'd been wearing the wrong size for a decade! Especially if you wear underwired (I do as am confident of the fit), you will be so much more comfortable in the correct fit!!

I've been following this thread but didn't want to join until we had seen baby on the scan. Due 24/09/15 Grin

Ten days til we go to China, whoop! Must remember to get a VPN on my phone so I can.bypass the great wall and keep in touch with you guys.

PIL came over yesterday and MIL is over the moon. day slightly tainted by stepFIL telling us about their holiday and the 'stinking paki' who took them to the airport. I took DH to one side and said I wasn't challenging it directly as it would ruin MILs day but that I would not tolerate such vile language in our house. For the record, I have Indian heritage and my relatives have had such names thrown at them as terms of abuse. What makes it worse is that I'm almost 90% certain sFIL has no idea whether this man was even of Pakistani origin or not, he was probably born in the UK but all sFIL saw was that he was brown.

countrybumpkingirl · 16/03/2015 08:03

Hello everyone, can I join you? I have been lurking for a while so am taking the plunge. I am 15w today, due sept 7th, first baby. Being naughty and called in sick today, woke up with a crushing headache and couldn't face work. I have dragged my sorry self into work despite being sick 3+ times a day since 6 weeks and today just couldn't do it. anyway, nice to meet you all, will add myself to the spreadsheet. Grin

mspfan · 16/03/2015 08:13

Welcome to the newbies Smile

I've got my scan later today, has anyone else? Excited to see the little bean!

SpamAnderson · 16/03/2015 09:02

Hi stole & country congrats! Good luck to ladies having scans today :)

My bp seems to have taken a nosedive today, feel dizzy and my heart is racing, bleurgh :(

Snowflake15 · 16/03/2015 09:21

Hi msp I've got my scan today at 2pm! What a waitHmm what times yours? I can't wait also feeling guilty for missing work though!

Mummyboo30 · 16/03/2015 10:45

shin, sorry, but that's not what the evidence suggests re: drinking and breastfeeding. According to the research I have read, the alcohol levels in breastmilk is the same as in your bloodstream, and a unit takes 2 hours to get out of the bloodstream. So if you feed on demand and have a baby like mine was (feeding every 1.5-2 hours for months and months) and drink alcohol, you can't guarantee they won't consume alcohol unless you abstain completely.
Also the effect of alcohol on small babies hasn't been thoroughly researched, but I can't see it being beneficial, since its a poison!

I can see what you're saying about trying to encourage more women to breastfeed and not put them off with too many restrictions. But as its for such a relatively short time in an adults' life, surely it's not that big a sacrifice?

sauvblanc21 · 16/03/2015 11:33

I'VE JUST HAD MY 12 WEEK SCAN! Grin
So excited! The little bab is looking healthy & gorgeous & cute etc etc! All the requisite arms and legs and a brain described by scan lady as "beautiful" Heeheehee! Hubbo and I are on cloud 9 Smile
It was sleeping when we went in so scan lady told me to cough, roll about and wiggle my bum and when we looked at screen again, the bab was waving it's arms and cycling it's legs! Nearly burst into tears right there!
12+2 by scan so now due on 26th September. NT measurement was 1.1mm (phew!) but just waiting for blood results - if no call in 3 days, all is good!
Ladies being scanned today, ENJOY! I want to do it again right now Wink xxx

SpamAnderson · 16/03/2015 11:47

Fab news sauv Any chance of a piccy??

THEworrywart · 16/03/2015 11:49

Congrats sauv

Sorry if I've asked this or if anyone else has asked this but is anyone going to find out the sex and if you are, are you going to wait for your anomaly scan or pay for a private?

I'm going to find out, I'm convinced I know what I'm having as is every member of my family except my youngest sister!

After having a very low mood week I'm starting to feel upbeat and excited again!

Good luck to everyone having scans

Snowflake15 · 16/03/2015 12:02

Congrats sauv I'm at 2pm can't wait!!

worry all being well I think me and dp might get an early gender scan at 16 weeks! It's just too exciting not to!

THEworrywart · 16/03/2015 12:08

I'm 16 weeks now and can't find anyone to fit me in for a scan! I've been offered a date a week before my 20 week scan feels abit pointless though.

Snowflake15 · 16/03/2015 12:20

Ahh yes in that case I would just wait worry, what area are you in?

lovesmycake · 16/03/2015 12:21

We will be finding out (or confirming if earlier scan was right). Here the anomaly scan is at 18 weeks so 30th of March which doesn't seem to far away at all :D

lovesmycake · 16/03/2015 12:22

There are some areas in the UK that will not tell you the sex of the baby so if you want to find out you would have to go privately anyway? I know of one at least.

THEworrywart · 16/03/2015 12:26

Liverpool :(

The hospitals here tell you the sex.

shinjuku09 · 16/03/2015 12:27

Sound and video here. Technically our monitor doesn't have video so we rigged up our own! It has been soooo handy, even vital, having a very difficult sleeper earlier on. We used to, when she could understand us, watch whether to see she was stood up in her cot and if so say stuff down the monitor like 'lie down. Back to sleep now!'

shinjuku09 · 16/03/2015 12:31

mummy boo most breastfeeding websites will explain my points better than me but basically most women with babies older than six months or so don't worry about it because as I said it would be like them having a sip of orange juice. The Jack Newman website explains it really well (I think, I get confused with all the different ones). Not criticising your decision at all but please don't make out women who have a small wine and breastfeed shouldn't do it. Actually many women will be pregnant or breastfeeding for years in a row so yes I do think it's a big sacrifice for something not harmful.

shinjuku09 · 16/03/2015 12:33

PS I did state that i was actually referring to older babies not newborns. As I said you need to be more careful with small babies
