I am gutted i'm not allowed to exercise at all :( I think it would lift my mood!

If anyone's having a scan today good luck Flowers

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 13/03/2015 10:11

Thinking of you Kitty.

Have had to break out the maternity bras and not even 12 weeks yet.

Mummyboo30 · 13/03/2015 10:51

You're in my thoughts today, kitty. I hope you are getting lots of support.

misssmilla1 · 13/03/2015 11:34

Thanks all. We opted to find out the sex as they can separate out the dna between the mum and baby from 10 weeks and tell (with a less than 0.5% error rate) which I thought was pretty amazing, in terms of scientific advancement. I live in the US though, so not sure if this feature is offered as part of the harmony package in the UK. We had to tell them up front when they took the blood that we wanted this; knowing US insurance it'll probably rack up the cost another $1000...

Planning to tell my mum on Sunday for a mothers day present as she's in the UK. I think its a marvelous present, my sister might think I'm just being tight in not buying anything Wink we were basically told we had unexplained fertility so this announcement will come as a big surprise to lots of people!

Kitty; thinking of you and your family today Flowers

Can I ask a Q re blood tests from NT/dating scans please...?

How long, on average, do the blood results take to come back?
(As a first timer, hubbo and I have sneakily delayed as many social events as possible for after 12 week scan so we could tell people BUT didn't realise at the time that you had to wait for blood results to come back too!! Doh! Feel a bit silly!)

Do you get the results quicker (and how quick?) if blood shows a problem / high risk?

Thank you! Xxx

monkeymoonpig · 13/03/2015 12:20

sauvblanc i think it depends on the NHS Trust. I chased mine last wk and they said if high risk they would call within 3 days otherwise low risk would be a letter within 3 weeks. My letter finally came yesterday, 16 days after scan/test and was low risk. (I'm with Shropshire & Telford NHS Trust)

monkeymoonpig · 13/03/2015 12:22

I think what also takes so long here is that its the Birmingham Trust that does the actual test for some reason, so an extra delay there too.

PossumPoo · 13/03/2015 12:25

I had my blood test today and midwife said if it was high risk they would contact me in 3-5 days.

Toffeegirl39 · 13/03/2015 12:46

Sauv I'm in Cheltenham and it was a week exactly I received the letter.
I have to say my care so far has been fantastic.

Jessica32 · 13/03/2015 12:49

Kitty All my thoughts today.

I'm going for my scan and testing on Mon. How does it work? Do I have my scan and then see a midwife for bloods? I will look at my letter again but I'm think it only really talks about the scan.

Choccyhobnob · 13/03/2015 13:05

In my hospital I was called into one room first to do bloods then sent back to the waiting room and then called for scan.

Jessica32 · 13/03/2015 13:15

Thanks Choccy thought I might need a separate appt which I don't have. Glad it sounds like they just know from what I ticked in the form.

Mummyboo30 · 13/03/2015 14:01

Ambient and loves yes definitely kicks! I'm 15+3 today. I found it's much easier to feel when it's your second. :)

sauvblanc21 · 13/03/2015 14:15

Thanks laydees Smile feel totally clueless at times! Fingles crossed for everyone's upcoming scans and results xxx

Maths88 · 13/03/2015 16:18

Hi all sorry Ive been quiet I just seem to eat, work and sleep at the moment. Waiting at the airport for my mum who is visiting for the weekend. Found out there's a woman at work who is due just one week before me which is great as we can chat about things. Pretty much all the staff at work know now as my maternity cover has been advertised. I quite like itvas it means I can freely discuss the pregnancy. I just hope all is well at 20 weeks! We've booked a sex scan for 1st April which is exciting!!

I hope you are ok today Kitty

SpamAnderson · 13/03/2015 16:42

How exciting maths! We've got a gender scan booked for 2nd April :)

StrawberryCheese · 13/03/2015 18:33

I've got a job interview!!! Grin Sorry I know its not remotely related to pregnancy but after applying for 10 jobs over the last few weeks and hearing nothing I was beginning to despair. I have just over a week to prepare and also find something to wear which will conceal a 13 week podge bump. Any interview clothing advise appreciated! And also general interview advice, it will be my first proper one ever Blush

thecrab · 13/03/2015 18:55

misssmilla I'm also tell my mum on mother's day! I don't think it's cheap just really good timing =P

shinjuku09 · 13/03/2015 19:04

Not caught up on this thread yet but had my 12 week today and all looking good! Sooo relieved!

shinjuku09 · 13/03/2015 19:08

Midnight no we didn't have the screening this time or last. A lot of people on here seem to but the stats are about 50/50 I think. It's a personal decision and only you can decide the best option for you.

shinjuku09 · 13/03/2015 19:09

Sorry that sounded quite blunt! I didn't mean it to. I too have doubts about not finding out but it felt the right decision at the time so no regrets and all that

misssmilla1 · 13/03/2015 19:19

strawberry well done! depending on what sort of place it is, I would opt for trousers or a dress teamed with a jacket and a drapey smart scarf. I'm using this at work atm to conceal and it's working quite well. My jackets aren't that form fitting, they're looseish at the front like a waterfall effect but still look smart and they have no buttons so no straining, AND they hide the tum. A scarf or a strategically placed longish pendant draws the eye away from the belly to mid torso.

In terms of interview technique, I'd recommend something like the book 'dummies guide to interviews' Not a reflection on you, but I often use the series when I'm starting from scratch with something to give me good groundwork / basis.

StrawberryCheese · 13/03/2015 19:51

Thanks misssmilla I have a draped scarf that I think will work and a jacket but could do with getting a new office suitable dress. I don't have much luck getting smart trousers to fit me. I will check out the dummies guide, sounds quite apt given my lack of interview experience Grin

Guavasforbreakfast · 14/03/2015 00:14

Anyone else forgetting to take folic acid and vit D? It was easy to remember when I was taking antiemetics, but then stopped taking those a few weeks ago and have realised I've hardly taken any of the vitamins since then. Oops. I was really religious about taking them with DS, something else to make me feel guilty! Confused
Does the folic acid still matter as much after the first trimester??

Treaclepie19 · 14/03/2015 00:15

Oh gosh ive been useless posting and dropped off here!
Just getting back on.
