Really need to stop crossing my legs. It's the hardest habit to break, far worse than stopping smoking. There are no substitutes for crossed legs.

Feeling very hungry today and I had breakfast too. Can't decide if I should crack open the chocolate cake I brought in with me.

smogsville · 03/03/2015 10:39

The thing is, rationally the babies will be fine if we go out for an evening/ away for a night and leave them in the care of trusted family members/ qualified nannies.

I just couldn't bear the idea of DD waking up, wanting me and being distressed bc I wasn't there. Now she's older she generally sleeps through anyway. I wouldn't leave her with a stranger though just in case she woke up and didn't know who they were, she would be terrified.

And if I'm honest I'm not comfortable with the idea of a stranger looking after my child. I'd rather have a good local friend come over and sit in front of the TV for an evening for me with a view to repaying the favour so she and her husband could go out at some point. Wouldn't be worth the worry for me.

And as I've previously said this is all entirely academic as I'm too tired to venture out of an evening in any case!

skyra13 · 03/03/2015 10:42

Wineandchoccy The same thing happen with me yesterday my 34 week app ended up being 35 weeks though! Re birth centre and same blue lighted to hospital 15min away :)

Have you decided to go for birth centre option?

RL20 · 03/03/2015 10:48

Glad your appointment went well Wine Grin

Have my first antenatal class today Shock I think it's at 2.30 but I need to ring and check as I threw away the letter! Quite nervous.

Chicken - "Her baby"?!?!! I'm not sure how I would react to that! Shock It's a bit if a tricky one as you don't want to offend them.. as such.. Which means you can't really say a lot yourself. Hope your partner is putting her right!

Lauren - at the beginning of pregnancy my Grandad kept telling me to stop crossing my legs as they got told the same thing way back when my nan was pregnant with my mum! I agree it's so hard, but when I go to cross my legs now I can't help but think I'm squashing poor baby's head if he's head down! So I tend to sit leaning to my left with my legs and knees up but to the left if that makes sense. It's hard to stop a habit of a lifetime though!

TheBooMonster · 03/03/2015 10:55

Yes solstice pm me your fb email and I'll get you in the group!

Started drinking raspberry leaf tea last night (34+2), figured 1 a day till the last scan (36+5) and then 2 a day past that, have gone with the clipper brand as it was on offer in Tesco, didn't notice and braxtons but did get some fanny daggers!

The HV is coming for the antenatal visit this afternoon, I really should get dressed... And I should probably get DD dressed... And I need to tidy the living room, and DH has created a mountain of washing up despite only being up an hour before me and me cleaning the kitchen last night...

Smogs we had an incident with BiL watching DD for us one night. We had to go meet the vicar to discuss final arrangements for our wedding and he was the only person free to watch her. Apparently she cried for half an hour and then fell asleep under the stairs! (our under stairs is open so no she didn't climb in the cupboard like Harry Potter.Blush) He was the most distressed out of the 2 of them as he didn't know what to do with her when she was like that. He's great at playing and rough housing with her but hasn't a clue when he's faced with a grumpy overtired toddler.

We laugh about it now but we did feel a bit bad for him at the time. We knew she would run out of steam eventually and fall asleep where she stopped.

RL this baby is currently breech so I know I'm not squishing its head. I am trying not to cross them though as I suddenly thought that might be the reason baby won't turn back round. Blush

Wineandchoccy · 03/03/2015 11:09

Skyra yes I have chosen the birth centre, I'm not sure whether I am mad for choosing the birth centre that's not attached to the hospital when I have never given birth before but it had a nice relaxed feel when we looked around. If I am ill or in pain I hate a fuss and I like to just get on with it so I hope I manage with the pool and gas and air.
I had a medically managed miscarriage last year and had contractions for several hours with just Parecetomol and obviously it wasn't a happy outcome but I coped with the pain so I hope with a baby to focus on I manage to not be blue lighted to the hospital.

solstice930 · 03/03/2015 11:13

BooMonster I started on the raspberry leaf tea this weekend (I'm 35 weeks now) after confirming it was okay with the midwife. She says it's fine from 32 weeks. I'll do one a day for a week, then two a day for a week, then up to three a day. I don't mind the flavour, it's nicer than green tea. I went for the Twinings at Tesco, also on offer! I also didn't notice any BH but did get a stitch. Probably unrelated Smile

BrixtonBunny · 03/03/2015 11:18

Hello - gosh this thread moves fast!

Am working from home today so naturally am eating with wild abandon - it's only 11am and I've already had a banana, porridge with blueberries and honey, an apple, and some sesame snaps. Shock So Lauren, don't feel bad about cracking open some cake!

I finish work next Friday which means I only have six and a half days left in the actual office! More worryingly, I only have two weekends before we move and we haven't done any packing yet. This weekend is going to be spent painting and packing I think!

Think we've almost decided on a home birth, eeek! Just need to work out logistics, which hospital we'd be under the care of etc as we'll be much too far from current hospital for their midwives to do the birth. Feels a bit stressful to transfer my care this late on but if I get the birth I want I'll be delighted. DP is still a little nervous about having first baby at home but rationally understands all the reasons why, for me at least (I know they are not for everyone!) it would likely be a good option.

34+6 (had my first mug of raspberry leaf tea yesterday - quite nice with a bit of honey in Wink)

Wineandchoccy · 03/03/2015 11:19

I have started drinking raspberry leaf tea as well I got mine from Holland and Barrett I was surprised that it tasted ok as I normally don't like fruit tea, I ruined the 1st cup though as I forgot I was making fruit tea and poured milk in it Blush I blame the baby brain!

skyra13 · 03/03/2015 11:38

I like the raspberry leaf tea but I do have to add sugar to it!

Wineandchoccy I'm hoping the consultant will sign me of for birth centre the midwife is very keen, I loved the birth centre walking around and I want to try and go as natural as possible, with and water and gas an air.

Mine is also a 15min ride if something does not go to plan that's the only thing that makes me worry having to get into an ambulance!

FiRaffe · 03/03/2015 12:01

Does the Raspberry leaf tea taste like raspberry or something else? Herby or something. ..you know what I mean!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 03/03/2015 12:02

baby wasn't moving, so I just had a really cold drink and ate a crunchie - she's fine, wriggling away now. could have done without the worry, though!

Wineandchoccy · 03/03/2015 12:07

Firaffe I bought this brand and it tastes like raspberries

www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/heath-heather-raspberry-leaf-tea-bags-60086916?c=Raspberry%20leaf%20tea

Wineandchoccy · 03/03/2015 12:08

Ebwy I'm glad baby is moving now I'm very jealous of your crunchie though!

mswibble · 03/03/2015 12:14

Would it make any difference how the raspberry tea was drank? I hate fruity teas and the only way I could have it would be to leave it to cool and then chug it all down, whilst pretending it was a particularly nasty squash!

32+5

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 03/03/2015 12:17

wineandchoccy if we had to name babies after the item we mostly consumed during gestation, this one would be called Crunchie! Though "Jacket potato with cheese" would be a close second due to the first few months.

(eldest would be pears or sweet&sour, my little one would be "swizzel's double lolly")

londonlivvy · 03/03/2015 12:17

Lauren it depends on your baby!! We've never been able to just pop the car seat under the table whilst she slept. She woke, instantly, howled, I'd try to feed and soothe but the noise and lights just overstimulated her. Disaster. We ate in record time and left. Since then we've had babysitters. Qualified nannies when DD1 was small, now teenagers who live in our street.

BananaToast · 03/03/2015 12:42

I've been drinking the Holland and Barrett raspberry leaf tea. Up to 2 cups a day now at 33 weeks. Haven't noticed any Braxton Hicks or anything but hope it's doing something useful! I don't mind the taste so have been drinking it as it comes. I doubt it matters if you down it mswibble.

ebwy I think this baby would be Mini Egg Wink

MoominMama22 · 03/03/2015 13:21

This baby would be chocolate hobknob.

TinyTear · 03/03/2015 13:25

Ebwy this one would be Babybel

Wineandchoccy · 03/03/2015 13:28

My baby would be Milk or Hot Chocolate Smile

My cat won't leave me alone today, here he is helping me with my work admin!

April 2015 Thread 12: Where are the carseats and are the bags packed, the babies are threatening to make an entrance!
Lauren82000 · 03/03/2015 13:30

and this baby would be baby as I've not over indulged in anything in particular Sad

solstice930 · 03/03/2015 13:30

This one would be Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, or just Peanut Butter in general.

As far as I'm aware, it's fine to let the raspberry leaf tea cool before you drink it. One person I knew would brew up about a liter, and turn it into an iced tea and drink it throughout the day (once she hit her due date). Good way to stay hydrated too!
