12 week scan today. measuring 11+5, exactly same as my LMP dates so EDD confirmed at 17th September. Though will come earlier due to previous history (poor placental function with loss of movements at 35 weeks with DS2, and at 39 weeks with DS1), or due to it being my 3rd CS and not wanting to risk labour. NT was 1.3, identical to with my first, but risk automatically higher (he was 1:50 000) due to me being old (37, was 31 then), but have to wait 2 weeks for combined screening results. Very relieved that it's still alive in there, it was very wiggly and lying in a very cute knees up postion and we saw it's little feet. too cute. I asked the sonographer if she could see the sex, but she said she really couldn't see as the baby was being uncooperative Hmm. So next visit is MW at 16 weeks, and 20 week scan at, well, 20 weeks!

misssmilla1 · 03/03/2015 21:05

spam I'm in the same situation. I'm reduced to taking paracetamol for headaches etc and trying to shift the cough with hot showers and breathing in tea tree in a bowl of hot water with my head over it.

My kingdom for a sudafed Sad

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 03/03/2015 21:19

I'm going to tell as soon as I have had the 12 weeks - working in construction means I'm exposed to some unusual scenarios so my employer really needs to know. Plus, I'm fed up of having to wear scarves all the time!

Meinthecorner · 03/03/2015 21:26

Had booking appointment today and told headteacher on return as I had a scan at 8 weeks and also means they can get planning by Easter (not sure why I am being nice!). Told HoD last week as we were going on a trip and I felt a bit ropey. Hopefully that will be it but won't tell students until 12 week scan although I think some might guess!

Kittykitty05 · 03/03/2015 21:48

I had rescan today, more bloods and Harmony test. Odd day, was there 4 hours, sonographer was concerned about heart, cord and nt measurement. So we saw the consultant who then scanned me (again!) himself, he was happy with heart, nt was 3.3 so a little high, and baby has a small umbilical hernia. When I had these tests done at another hospital 2 weeks ago, they have me a 1:24 Downs risk, but low risk for Edwards and Patau. Today I've pretty much been told they're not concerned about Downs but there are markers for the other two things. 2 weeks till Harmony results are going to be agony Sad.
Anyone else had shitty results?

bonzo77 · 03/03/2015 21:53

Oh kitty, that all sounds very confusing and worrying. Are they charging you for the Harmony? Will you get an amnio too?

Kittykitty05 · 03/03/2015 22:05

Harmony is on the NHS, they are part of a trial for it for the NHS. It will depend on the result of the Harmony. You basically either get a 1:10000 risk or a 1:2 risk, they don't want to give a 100% promise either way. If I get bad results it will be an amnio to confirm.

Tiredstressed · 03/03/2015 22:13

That must be very scary Kitty. The wait for results is horrible - I really hope all is well for you.

sauvblanc21 · 03/03/2015 22:41

Fingers tightly crossed kitty

Re teaching - I've told Head & Dep Heads a) to get morning off for 12 week scan and b) as I've had to have a few days off with sickness so wanted to explain. Have also told close geog colleague so I have someone to moan to. Not telling anyone else but will be happy for people to guess after 12 week scan - providing all is well - and people will realise if and when I don't feature in September plans!

Did anyone watch that 'When Pregnant Women Drink' on itv tonight? I haven't drank a thing as yet but thought I might have a little tipple towards latter stages - but can't decide if programme was all bollocks or to take it seriously! X

Nessa35 · 03/03/2015 23:10

Hey ladies, can I add in? Have been lurking for a couple of weeks. I'm 35 and this is my 1st pregnancy am 14+2 due date 2nd September Smile

itssangriaoclock · 04/03/2015 00:11

Oh I didn't see that. What channel was it on could I get on catch up?

Maths88 · 04/03/2015 05:12

Fingers crossed kitty!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 04/03/2015 06:22

Forgot to say I've been feeling the odd flutter for a couple of weeks now always in the same spot so was delighted that was exactly where the baby is positioned so I think I am feeling bean already. Didn't want to believe it as in a fatty and didn't feel DS till about 20 weeks Grin

I've had really strong phantom kicks ever since I had him but these we're much gentler flutters. Hooray feel much more attached now

sauvblanc21 · 04/03/2015 06:32

Itv sangria

Toffeegirl39 · 04/03/2015 07:43

Fingers crossed kitty
Welcome Nessa!
Anyone else got sore dry skin ? Products??
Also I'm wondering if anyone else is going to do pregnancy yoga - any good? It's a bit pricy but might be worth it. Thoughts appreciated.

itssangriaoclock · 04/03/2015 07:57

Morning toffee, I just to dh my skin feels so dry it almost hurts. Been having a shower and then drowning my skin in moisturiser. Seems to have helped.

itssangriaoclock · 04/03/2015 07:58

*just told

Using Nivea soft

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 04/03/2015 07:59

I did nct yoga last time and loved it, didn't think it was doing much good but I missed a couple of weeks and my back was really sore. Probably coincidence but I also loved the new mums coming back to talk about their birth experiences etc. so just waiting till evening nausea goes and will be going again.

Jessica32 · 04/03/2015 08:07

Sauv I haven't seen it but recorded it and will probably watch this morning. Obviously I haven't seen the detail of the program but it was my mum who told me about it. She has been a children's nurse for over 35 yrs and has come across children with foetal alcohol syndrome many times.
She says it's awful and does damage them permanently. It does sound like it's the regularity of alcohol (even a small amount) that causes the problem rather than a one off. I'll probably have the odd random glass as you were thinking of. I guess it's just a v good warning to us all as they really don't seem to know how much is too much.

Toffee I'm going to do pregnancy yoga. I've heard good things and it can only help I would have thought.

Jessica32 · 04/03/2015 08:32

Sauv just put program on. Opening statements v scary so far!

GoooRooo · 04/03/2015 08:49

Sauv I watched it. I didn't drink in my previous pregnancies and won't during this one either. The results of the testing after just one glass of wine were so frightening.

SpamAnderson · 04/03/2015 09:13

I watched it last night. I don't touch alcohol at all when I'm pregnant, I barely drink when I'm not pregnant. With dd2 I found out I was pregnant a week before the wedding. In my pictures I'm walking round with a glass with about an inch of champagne in it for toasts, I had 1 sip of it and that's it. It's only 9 months anyway. I shall just enjoy not being pregnant over my birthday or Christmas this time and I can have a glass of wine to celebrate if I want to!

THEworrywart · 04/03/2015 09:19

I've been tee total since 19 so haven't drank and won't drink during pregnancy.

I can't believe the amount of girls I know who go out every weekend when pregnant but say it's okay because it's one night! When doing about FAS during alevels and first year Uni it baffled me how anyone could risk it! I think if you can't give it up for the sake of your baby it's selfish and you possibly have an underlying issue 9months isn't that long

sauvblanc21 · 04/03/2015 09:19

I agree Jessica but do dislike how sensationalist these documentaries are!
I know Gooo, it was the ONE unit of alcohol thing that freaked me out. So weird though that my doctor, NHS, and all advisory bodies say 1-2 units 1-2 times a week is fine!!! I wouldn't ever drink that much anyway and not bothered if I don't drink at all - I'm just uncomfortable with putting itv's advice over the NHS (and similar bodies)!!! X

GoooRooo · 04/03/2015 09:27

I thought it was interesting that America, New Zealand, Australia, France, Germany and lots of other countries all say no amount of alcohol is safe in pregnancy and yet the UK guidelines are so much more relaxed. France of all places! If you can't drink in France, where can you?
