I feel ya guavas, there has been a lot of toast, beans and cbeebies here. It's more that I have no energy for a fight! I also don't feel too bad as he goes to his childminder four days a week so gets a bit of balance.

MyNameIsSuz · 01/03/2015 06:56

Lastnight, those would be the two I'd be after too if I were buying a new one. I ended up with a quinny as it's light and small and I live upstairs, it's been great for that but I did lust after something with a proper basket!

Whatabout · 01/03/2015 07:54

Love my uppababy vista!

Sorry you're in pain church, hopefully nothing but pulled muscles adjusting to things.

I toss and turn all night due to back pain and so sleep however I can. I don't believe in he sleeping on your left thing being anything real.

ditzzy · 01/03/2015 08:06

We went into Toy R Us a couple of weeks ago and a very helpful lady there worked us through a whole barrage of questions of about what sort of things we'll be doing with a buggy, and took it down to two choices, one of which (which I can't remember the name of) neither me nor DP could work any of the mechanisms, so that left the Britax Affinity! Apparently ideal for rural-ish folk who spend most of their lives wandering around the countryside, hop in and out of the car on a regular basis, rarely using buses and public transport around our home town (baby will not be commuting on the trains with me!

We're waiting until after the 20 week scan to get it, although our local Toy R Us does currently have a free carry cot offer with it, so I might cave if the dating scan is good (not calling it a 12 week scan as I'm 13 weeks today, and can see that the scan really isn't going to happen as planned tomorrow!)

Loving all the pics, this is the first time I've been on the laptop instead of the phone for weeks Grin

itssangriaoclock · 01/03/2015 08:08

Left side sleeping isn't too much of an issue at this stage. However once your 28+ wks there is a greater risk that laying flat the uterus will put too much pressure on your major arteries. If you can't tolerate left, right sleeping if just as good as by being on your side the uterus is tilted.

If either side is uncomfortable then adding more pillows will also help.

THEworrywart · 01/03/2015 08:19

Right side sleeping can put pressure in your liver from 28 weeks but it's preferred from sleeping on your back.

ditzzy · 01/03/2015 08:21

Oddly enough I always used to be encouraged to sleep on my right hand side by my cardiologist so my heart would get less squashed (even without being pregnant). I'll have to ask them what the priority is for me now!

Whatabout · 01/03/2015 08:25

I don't sleep on my back anyway but don't lie on my back after twenty weeks. I cannot stay in one position at night so it's either keep moving or not sleep. Research I have read puts risk of still birth at 3.09 per 1000 for sleeping on left and 3.93 per 1000 for other than left but it's a small uncontrolled study. The 0.1% increase for me is low enough to mean I dint overly worry about being a tosser. I do lie on my left when relaxing on the sofa.

THEworrywart · 01/03/2015 08:26

It will probs my still be right just to relieve all pressure from your vena cava Ditzy

ditzzy · 01/03/2015 08:30

Trouble is that I can't tell my left from my right at the best of times, let alone when I'm half asleep Grin

Jessica32 · 01/03/2015 08:45

Church your tummy and back pain sounds like what I've had in varying degrees from early on. If so, I suspect it's normal. When it's put together with sore boobs I often wake up feeling like I've over done the exercise. Ha ha as if!

Lastnight if you're planning a big JL session why don't you book in with a nursery adviser? It's free to do and that way you can turn up at an arranged time and have someone there to help with everything you want. I believe you can book online now but otherwise ring.

I'm lucky as I used to work in a nursery shop some years ago. I will be out of date but it does mean I know the pram I want and how to use it.

I am sleeping in any position I wish while I still can!

itssangriaoclock · 01/03/2015 08:56

Jessica which one is that? Do you have insider knowledge lol

Kittykitty05 · 01/03/2015 08:56

Ahhhh was out celebrating my BFFs 40th dancing till 1am, kids woke me at 7, now I feel like I've got a really unjustified hangover!!!

Buggies- I think I can add up about 10 I've had over the years between my two kids, big ones, small ones, off road, joggers etc! Not got a clue what's out there now, I'm hoping someone has now created the perfect one for me, lol. lastnight what is a big john Lewis thing you're booking? Sounds exciting!

With the sleeping thing, I've read left sleeping can help placenta functioning, which I've been told I may have a problem with from my bloods, and I prefer it too, apart from having my back to DH!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 01/03/2015 08:56

Jessica - yes, that's what we're doing!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 01/03/2015 09:01

Kitty Jessica expanded a bit on it but you basically book in for a session with one of their nursery advisors. It's long, but they go through everything to do with prams, car seats, nursery furniture/equipment, clothes. Most of our friends with children swear by it!

You can put things onto a list too, so no pressure to buy there and then. DH and I are going to try and do ours sooner rather than later as I'd quite like to look at baby carriers which I imagine is a bit tricky once you're past about 20 weeks!

ag123 · 01/03/2015 09:19

Whatabout I think we might be the same person. It is you who also has a Wilf isn't? Well we also har the same buggy! Also love our uppababy vista!!

Whatabout · 01/03/2015 09:39

Ag123 Wilf and a vista. Great combination!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 01/03/2015 09:44

Feeling much better today! Clearly needed a lazy day yesterday. Done a set of RSS marking already, then it's off to the supermarket then home for General Studies and Creative Writing. Still dreading parents' evening.

THEworrywart · 01/03/2015 10:33

I feel guilty matalan have a sale online so just bought a few unisex baby bits is that acceptable? 14 weeks Tuesday and the prices are so low! Eg £3.00 for bodysuits

BeakyAndBun · 01/03/2015 10:42

Worry- I haven't been on here in a few days as I had a job interview for a temp position late notice and then got the job (woohoo) so moving in with boyfriend's family and all just been a bit crazy! But I came on to see how your scan went and glad it was ok! Sorry to hear you are struggling with anorexia though- that must be incredibly difficult. I do think body image is so bloody hard; I have no experience of an ED but I went clothes shopping for things to wear for work yesterday and rejected anything that clung to my tummy because I felt fat. To be fair, most clothes make me look a bit fat because I objectively am a bit fat, but my tummy is definitely a bit of a baby and not just cheese now. My bf is being very patient with me repeatedly saying "I'm going to get fat and stretch-marky with saggy boobs!!!!! Will you still love me?" We should all give ourselves a break...

Jessica32 · 01/03/2015 11:03

Lastnight great minds etc!

Itssangria I don't know about inside knowledge! It's always tricky as different ones suit different people and lifestyles. And wishes, e.g. is it important to you whether the baby faces you when they're newborn? I'm going for a bugaboo as it's suits my needs. They are expensive but it will work for me all the way through and my mum has kindly offered to help as a gift from granny. I also plan to save money on other things and not buy every gadget known to man! It's annoying that so many celebs have had them though, I hate that. My friend managed to get a really good second hand one from the internet.

THEworrywart · 01/03/2015 11:06

BeakyAndBun
I'm going shopping today for pants mostly it's really hard my clothes not fitting me I'm having a bad day today because of it and I know it's because of the baby but I just feel so unhappy with my body :( makes me feel guilty! We should enjoy our pregnancy apparently we will glow haha I really hope it's true. Your bf sounds lovely my mum wants to strangle me already

Chuch21 · 01/03/2015 11:41

The pain has subsided thankfully, managed to sneak in another hour of sleep once OH went to work. Thanks for the reassuring words ladies Flowers
I'm just relying on the fact there was no bleeding alongside it as being a good sign, especially as the pain went on for so long.
Scan tomorrow so all will be revealed!

SpamAnderson · 01/03/2015 12:04

Got teh doppler out again last night, told DH 'I will find him first time tonight and I will not get stressed'. put the probe on and there he was, heart beat was the strongest I've ever heard it :) Nice rate of 163 so all looking positive so far for the 12 week scan :) And I've lost over a stone since my BFP now, so happy happy girl :)
sangria I got the Mothercare My3. Used obviously (as they don't sell that model in store any more), I can't afford hundreds for a pram, I wish I could as there are some lovely ones out there! My 2 had travel systems where you clip the car seat in the top but they're not recommended for long periods of time as the baby is in the curved position. If I go out shopping or into the city, the baby will be in the pram for quite a long period of time so figured the pram is better. The one I got changes into a buggy and faces the parent and can be switched to face forward. I much prefer them facing in, especially when they're small :) Got all bits washed last night, apart from the apron as it won't fit in the machine, I'll do that on a hot day so I can scrub it down and get it dried quickly on the line :)
Just bought a bottle warmer, it was on my list and someone near me is selling it, brand new unused so that's £7 saved on buying from amazon :) Actually hoping the main shopping will be done before 23/24 weeks when we go on holiday. Found my car seat and steriliser, I'll probably order them next month. Got the cats op to pay for tomorrow (yippee!) so can't afford to buy anything else just yet :) We have a lot of the stuff still in the loft from last time. Really hoping DH didn't get rid of our sensor pad monitor as that was such a peace of mind in the early weeks!
Whoever said about sleeping, I cannot get comfy when I'm pregnant at all, I cannot sleep on my back full stop (massive boobs, sore neck etc etc), I get an extra pillow or 2 and prop myself up so I'm not fully on my side, pillow between my legs and one under my boobs/tummy, like a wedge. Trying to think where I saw a super cheap full length pillow the other day, grrrrr.
worry as you can see, I've bought as well! Bottles, bottle warmer and a pram! I'm going to start buying clothes and bits after the 16 week private scan as we'll know what colours to buy! I have 2 dds so if it's a boy, I shall be bankrupting us as I'll finally be able to buy all the gorgeous boy stuff I've been brooding over for the last 8 years! I really wouldn't worry about buying early. Sometimes bargains are just too much to resist!

SpamAnderson · 01/03/2015 12:15

worry I don't have the experience that you do at all, but I did have an ED in my teens. I look back at pictures and I was gorgeous, I'd kill for the figure I had back then before I stopped eating and trashed my metabolism. This pregnancy seems to have brought back a lot of the anxieties and guilt over eating. It never happened with my girls at all so I don't understand why it's come up now. I'm weighing at least twice a day now. I've lost 15lbs but as my bump is growing, if anything, I look bigger, my clothes don't fit :( It is tough and I know you must be finding it really hard now when you don't feel like you have control over your own body. It does seem strange to me that your treatment has been delayed as surely now it's more important that ever! Is there another health professional you could speak to and hopefully get more help? The baby will be taking what it needs from you so early on, it is you who will go without, it's not until later that those on a normal diet are advised to increase the calories. Are there any foods or that you could 'trick' yourself into having to squeeze a gradual extra few calories? Sorry if I sound clueless, I went through not eating to developing into a form of bulimia so I still ate for the most of my issue :/
