Hello All

Hope I am correct in beginning a thread for July 07. BFP today (23rd October) and EDD 2nd July 07.

By way of a brief introduction; live in the South West, work part-time, have DD aged 5 and DS who is almost 3. Have been incredibly lucky this time as made decision to try for third and hey presto seem to have achieved it on first attempt (much to DH disappointment if you know what I mean!!).

Look forward to 'meeting' you and sharing this amazing experience with you.

Back to work
The weekend jsut didn't seems long enough and I took Friday off to finish my shopping. At least I managed that.

There is light at the end of the tunnel 11+3 and the sickness has gone and I managed to get tot he end of Planet Earth without falling asleep last night (a first). Feeling a lot better also as DS1 (23 months) slept through the night for the first time in a month last night (he has been perfectly horrid for the last few weeks).

I have a Monday mornign confession _ have had a blocked nose for the last month. I know I should btu I have been using Otrivine (like Sinex). It was that or my sanity. Starting to feel guilty...

lynneclynne · 11/12/2006 09:22

Morning ladies.

Otrivine is a topical decongestant, but nothing is recommended in first trimmester and co-codamol should only be taken if prescribed! Sorry

Our alarm clock (dd) didn't wake us this morning until we did at 9.15! Dh luckily is boss and was feeling crap all weekend so was going to take the afternoon off anyway so not too bad.

Dd has had diarrhoea all weekend and has a really sore bum bless her. She's also lost her voice and had a nasty reaction to egg so might not be going to work after all on Wednesday. My scan is 14.10. I can finally send off for my exemption certificate when I get an edd. Hold this space. I would guess I am due 14th......

You shouldn't just buy it over the counter though. It's ok if it's prescribed.

3flightsofsleighbellsring · 11/12/2006 11:07

Good luck with everyone's scans this week, fingers well and truly crossed. As firstar said chooster you have 75% on your side, good luck, and firststar hope everything is ok with you too. Lynneclynne good luck for tomorrow.

Doris, would it help if you went and cried at your doc? If the NHS have the resources they should surely be able to fit you in somehow if you can convince them that it's desperately needed? Part of the reason I feel reassured this time (hopefully not foolishly reassured) is that I had 4 scans by 12wks last time (due to 3 previous mcs) and I finally believed it after it had been drummed in. If not I would pay the money for a private one. It really doesn't seem fair tho.

Still have sinusitis - feel like someone's broken my cheekbone and paracetamol having v little effect. Managed to refrain from coming on MN at 3am tho!

3flightsofsleighbellsring · 11/12/2006 11:10

jennstar thanks for the drug info and good luck for the scan - look forward to hearing the EDD!

JennStarOfWonder · 11/12/2006 11:23

Thanks and I really can sympathise about sinusitis. I had it on and off from March to September and managed to get meningitis from it in July in France. If somebody offered to get rid off the pain by cutting your head off, you WOULD consider it.

justbeme · 11/12/2006 13:36

Afternoon! Firststar, whens your EDD? cant see you on the stats list.
Have finally decided to write some xmas cards today....(do I have to?) ,
Went out at weekend and tried some maternity clothes on at Mothercare. One top made me look like a sack of potatoes and another - my BF was gobsmacked when i came out the changing room - it made me look 5mths gone! Sadly the cleavage area didnt quite fill out so much, so i left empty handed! But ended up buying size 14 black trousers in Primark (£6) and some jogging bottoms sized 16-18 (£3) - im normally a size 12. Got a few Do's coming up and nothing is fitting me - am feeling very frumpy.

Hi everyone. I'm sorry I don't keep asking after everyone, but by the time I've read the thread then got to the "add a message" bit I've already forgotten who said what ... sorry I blame pg brain!!

I went up to see the GP today to get my bloods done, as the midwife wasn't able to get any blood out of me on Friday. When the GP saw the bruised state of my arm he said, "hmm, next time you need bloods done, tell her that you'll come to the surgery!"

We were chatting whilst he was doing the bloods, and he said it was possible that the consultant might want me to go up to the city hospital to deliver as I had a problem with my placenta last time (not retained, but it needed assistance to get it out so I had to be transferred up to the big hospital for them to do it). If that becomes necessary then I shall have to go and stay in Inverness as I live about 4 hours away which means I almost certainly wouldn't get there in time! (it's doubtful whether I could get to the local hospital as it is, that's 1.5 - 2 hours away!). As dh says, there's insist and there's insist - obviously I wouldn't put my baby or myself in any danger, but going up to Inverness would be a last resort for me as it would mean being in labour and giving birth on my own - not ideal. Anyhoo, I'm not worrying about it yet

pookey · 11/12/2006 21:38

Hi all

Miaou hope the hospital stuff works out for the best, sounds complicated. I remember some of the aug mums taking their hats off to you for getting pregnant soon after the op!

DP, DS and I have all been sick last week; I post about the ms going away and i get a vomiting bug the next day how ironic! DS has had tummy bug plus ear and throat infection in less than a week poor little sausage!

Sympathise with nose problems I had it to a slight extent last time and again now, infact I think my nose hasnt got back to normal since last pregnancy!

I am worried about ms fading so glad it may be a normal thing as someone else is finding that. I really dont feel pregnant at the moment, think I felt the same with last pg though because I didnt have morning sickness then. I will be very relieved to have my scan - also on the 22nd decafgirl! Its the day after my birthday.

ChristmasCakehead · 11/12/2006 22:30

Chooster, will keep my fingers crossed for you on Weds.
Does anyone know what the deal is regarding eating nuts in pregnancy? Last time I was very good and just avoided it. I'd read something about it increasing the allergy rate in babies. But this year, what with it being Christmas 'n all, I'm gagging for a big bag of KP. I mean, we're quite early, aren't we? Surely the baby won't pick up a nut allergy because mum scoffs a bag or two in the first trimester? My mum said they never worried about all this, but then allergy rates are rising all the time...

JennStarOfWonder · 11/12/2006 22:40

Think there are missed messages about nuts. I was told if you have a history of allergies, asthma, eczema etc then best to avoid peanuts at least. There is evidence that nut allergies in countries where mothers and babies are exposed to peanut oil are practically non existent...Sorry this doesn't help.

JennStarOfWonder · 11/12/2006 22:41

MIXED MESSAGES EVEN

beartime · 12/12/2006 10:11

Justbeme - I had a bad experience with mothercare maternity clothes. There are some Old Navy maternity Jeans on E-bay which are really nice - the low rise waist type. Also Dorothy Perkins do nice bottoms, and Next do nice clothes, but if you get tops from Next I'd get a size up from your normal as they are quite short so don't last to your third trimester without belly showing! Last time I got a nice pair of black velour jogging bottoms with drawstring waist, 3 sizes up from pre-preg size and they lasted me the whole time - and because they were velour they did for both smart and casual.

Miaou - couldn't you have a dedicated friend come stay with you? Or maybe hire a doula or something?

Jenn that was confusing about the nuts! My mum has asthma so I figured I'd better not eat peanut butter but now I'm wondering...

I use cloth nappies on ds and since I'm potty training I'm only using them for his naps - which is 2 a day so by the time I get to washing them some are about a week old. This morning I almost puked when I put them in the washing machine with the smell - ugh!

Doe anyone know when the sore boobs end? Mine seem to be getting less sore now - 11+6

Also whoever it was talking about when the 2nd trimester starts - what did you find? Is it at 12 wks or 13wks?

Chooster (I think?!) I hope your scan goes OK.

Dophus · 12/12/2006 10:15

re nuts (and it's only peanuts)

Personally I think this is all a load of coswapple. There is absolutely no data to suggest that eating nuts in pregnancy leads to allergies. Just someone thoguht - well maybe..

Each to their own but I have not changed my but-eating habit one little bit. (but hey, I'm not the best lead as I also eat soft cheest, cooked shell fish, change the cat litter and use nasal sprays

snowytyphoonsmum · 12/12/2006 11:56

Has firststar had the scan yet. Any news?
