We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

HI everyone, just checking in. 22+4 now; suddenly everyone is responding with "wow, not long to go" which makes me go Hmm and Shock and Grin in equal measure. Had fun last night, the little squirmer was kicking like mad and DH could see it for the first time. He was very excited. Also now have some baby things in the house - cloth nappies inherited from family, a few other small things, and some clothes. Also bought a couple of newborn vests and sleepsuits, and the teeniest tiniest little hat. Although it looks quite big in comparison to the opening that the associated head needs to come out of Shock!

MrsC, that's good news. About the growth catch up, and the theory test. Well done. :)

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Naturegirl82 · 29/03/2015 08:58

I look very definitely pregnant now as someone actually gave up their seat on the tube for me last night! Shock

Zampa · 29/03/2015 10:20

No such luck on the Manchester trams Nature. I've seen heavily pregnant women having to stand.

I felt guilty last week in not offering my seat to a fellow pregnant lady but I felt awful on that day so stuck my tummy out so she didn't think I was just ignorant!

Naturegirl82 · 29/03/2015 11:15

zampa I was quite suprised to be honest. She was the only person to offer though. I was very grateful Smile

Sherbet38 · 29/03/2015 13:14

Glad to hear your positive news Mrsc.

My DH has also felt some proper kicks this week which was really lovely. He's only felt little flutters up till now. The kicks were also when he got home from work and talking lots, so very cute as could have been in response to hearing daddys voice Smile

I'm also looking very pregnant all of a sudden (25+1). Some family I haven't seen for a couple of weeks said that theres no missing the bump now! I need to invest in some summer tops, nothing seems to fit and I'm warm all the time!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies Smile

broody, you are fine. It is just some people that always use 'text' language (really impossible if it isn't your first language) or people who just cannot spell period. And I'm having none of the 'I've got dyslexia' excuse, as your computer and phone both have spell check and will pick up and correct most of your mistakes. I have plenty of friends with dyslexia who can spell perfectly fine on the computer/phone.

And I do look very pregnant as well! I'll put up a picture in a bit.

My picture won't load. Bloody laptop!

OP posts:
broodylicious · 29/03/2015 20:10

Totally with you on that text language thing, fatty!AngryAngry A few of my friends are huge culprits of it - they talk normally face to face but get a phone in front of them and it's "wiv" "ppl" "sum" and all sorts of ridiculous words! I can write shorthand (ex journo) but I still write properly when it's to others!

Zampa · 29/03/2015 21:52

Made a silly purchase today ... Nappies ... DP thinks I'm daft. However my reasoning is that there are only 3 more pay days until maternity leave so it makes sense to spread out buying the things we need ... !

Naturegirl82 · 30/03/2015 09:57

zampa that really is the most frivolous extravagant purchase I have ever heard of! haha Grin

charlieis30 · 30/03/2015 10:30

I bought the Which 1 quid trial membership yesterday pretty much with the express purpose of seeing which nappies they recommend. So not silly at all zampa!

charlieis30 · 30/03/2015 10:39

Otherwise I've bought some clothes and a Bednest. So baby has somewhere to sleep at least! Starting to look at pushchairs. DH is being so weird, some things he doesn't seem to care about at all but he's gone and fallen in love with a really expensive cotbed and a REALLY expensive bath (of all things!)

Fattycow · 30/03/2015 12:41

I am going with cloth nappies and I have bought 21 so far. I also have 4 packs of disposables, but I got those for free. They will do for the first few weeks, as I don't think the baby will fit into the cloth ones just yet.
But whenever a shop has something on sale that I will need for the baby, I buy it. I have baby cosmetics (bum cream, bath oil, body lotion, etc) and bought a triple pack of wipes just yesterday. Other things I've bought on sale:

  • changing bag
  • pram
  • cot bed
  • maternity kit (with pads, bed sheets and all those things)
  • breast pads
  • super soft hair brush
  • sunblock
  • clothes
  • playpen
  • thick blanket for playpen
  • bunting for babyshower that can be reused once baby is here
  • hot water bottle
  • two thermometers (one for me and one for baby)
I'm sure there are more things, but it just makes sense to me to spread the spending and to buy things when they are on sale.

We have been picking things up since 3 month scan. All stores under our bed (except Moses basket, pushchair & cot) were gonna struggle to fit much else in. The next issue is were it will all go once he arrives!

I'm also looking very pregnant now, people are starting to randomly touch too Angry

broodylicious · 30/03/2015 13:44

A bath for the baby, charlie? Tell him to save his money - our dd hated her little bath so we bought a little seat for her that you put in the main bath but she hated that too so we just got in with her and happy days! Her and dh still bath together now and she was three last week!
Are you on Facebook btw? We are talking about baby bedroom furniture at the moment!

Fattycow · 30/03/2015 16:00

I love our baby bath! So much easier than crouching over the big bath!

I assembled the playpen, so DH will get the full effect when he gets home from work. Smile

Fatty we will use cloth too. I have 30 (from my sisters kids) and she said that was more than enough. I think she washed every second day. Am going to try to use them ASAP to get into the habit, but have been advised to use disposables for the first meconium poos. In addition I've been told to expect c10 changes a day initially. Not sure either my washing machine or my post partum self could keep up with that. That said, I'm planning on training DH pretty quickly Grin.

Fattycow · 30/03/2015 17:34

I have bought Totsbots Easyfit nappies and those are supposed to be from 4 kilo upwards. Both me and OH weren't that weight, so I expect my baby will be around the same weight as we were. So disposables it is until baby is big enough to fit into the cloth ones.

OP posts:
MuddyWellyNelly · 30/03/2015 18:46

Ah I see Fatty. Mine are Grovia (American brand) and say they fits from 8lb. So it depends how big this one comes out!

Zampa · 30/03/2015 18:55

I do feel a bit guilty about not going for reusable nappies but after considering the drying space in the house and the cost and environmental impact of the tumble dryer, we concluded that there was no difference between the two options, in terms of the environmental cost. Bravo to those doing it though!

Fattycow · 30/03/2015 19:05

Lbs mean nothing to me, sorry.

zampa, we are not going to put ours into the tumble dryer, as that is really bad for them. They will just go on an over-the-door drying rack. Cost wise, cloth works out a lot cheaper than disposables in the end, but it is an investment in the beginning.

Hello ladies

Hope you are all well & enjoying pregnancy! I will catch up on the thread soon, have been on holiday & took the opportunity to avoid technology whilst I was there so no idea what you lot have been up to.

Anyone else experience pain at the bottom of their bump after walking for a bit? I am talking about walking only half a mile or so, pain is usually on the right side but sometimes the left, and very occasionally in the middle? It started out as uncomfortable but is painful now and I used to just press on it a bit but now I am at the point of stopping each time it happens. Am waiting for a call back from midwife but wondering if anyone else has experienced it?

Baby lost is still moving about but not established a pattern as such yet, though you can now see my bump moving when she wriggles. I like it :)

Charliej86 · 31/03/2015 15:23

OH & DC's have have all felt baby boy move now. We all trooped to midwife today as OH wanted to be there to hear heartbeat so all had too lol. My bp is good and so is baby's heartbeat. He's in right position but they measure from next appointment.
That's my good day now my bad day.
Had a slight break down with DS today. He's been extra clingy last 2 days, I know it sounds lovely but it got too much for me. So we bribed him with a new character for his disney infinity but he couldn't find the disc. To get some peace I offered to help find it and ended up having a breakdown over the state of his room. It's the box room but also probably going to room DS and baby end up sharing. Couldnt help but think how are we gonna fit them both in???!!
