hope everything is ok shield bug xx good luck for tomorrow but they are right about not waiting if it gets any worse xx

Ca55andraMortmain · 26/02/2015 19:45

Good luck for tomorrow shieldbug well be thinking of you.

I have booked a private scan for Sunday at abc4d in Edinburgh, someone here said they were doing half price scans, can't remember who! I'm excited to see the little blueberry for the first time but really nervous as well. I'll be 8 weeks so I should see a heartbeat right? I'm weirdly convinced that there will be nothing there. DH seems so calm and confident that everything is ok, how can he be like that?! Also (wife of year award over here), I forgot when I booked it that his birthday is on sun, and now I'm really worried that bean won't be there and it'll ruin DHs birthday!

Fizzy13 · 26/02/2015 20:12

Crikey Sarky I'd better stop feeling sorry for myself if you're in hospital. (Southmead is good, I work there sometimes. They'll look after you)

BrewCake virtual tea and cake as I'm guessing the real thing wouldn't go down too well.

Cineraria · 26/02/2015 20:44

Sorry to hear about the bleeding Shieldbug. If it has stopped and there aren't cramps, though, that's a good sign. I lost red blood and a clot the size and shape of a sausage a few weeks ago and thought that it was all over but was really shocked to see that everything was ok when I was scanned the next day. If I understood rightly, the implantation had caused a bleed that formed a long thin clot inside and often that would just be dissolved over a few weeks inside without any visible bleeding but vomiting violently dislodged it and caused the clot and some blood to be expelled some time after you'd normally expect implantation bleeding. I hope that is reassuring not scary.

Get well soon Sarky. Hope you find things you can eat and drink without vomiting so you can keep out of hospital. I'm finding warm sweet drinks the easiest to stomach at the moment. I think Angus mentioned hot squash on the previous page and that's my current favourite too!

I had my booking appointment yesterday and was pleased to discover that months of needle phobia therapy have worked and I managed to have my blood test which was impossible last time. I normally need to be drugged/anaesthetised with gas before someone has access to my veins. For some reason, DH finds it very funny that the midwife has to ask if we're blood relatives during the booking appointment.

Ladypug · 26/02/2015 20:54

OMG hi Cineraria, I'm really phobic! Could you tell me what help you had? x

AnnaBegins · 26/02/2015 22:18

Shield hope all is ok. I had some bleeding too today but no clots and midwife says there's no epu here...

Fizzy that's interesting as my midwife said categorically not to ride (exact words were "so you've given that up then!") I told her categorically not, that I'm a good rider on a horse I know and I'm not prepared to give it up! Glad some midwives are more realistic! Do you have your own horses?

shieldbug · 26/02/2015 22:54

Thanks everybody for support. It means a lot. I have been bleeding on and off all day and having v mild cramps so looking forward to tomorrow just to know one way or another. Will try to post as soon as I get a chance.
Cineraria that explanation does help as it gives a possible reason for what's going on. Thanks.
Anna are you ok? Is there not an EPU unit somewhere they could refer you to if you are worried?
sarky I hope your sickness improves. Sorry, can't remember if this is your first or not. If not, did it go on long last time?

Cineraria · 26/02/2015 23:32

Glad it was helpful Shieldbug. Good luck for tomorrow.

Ladypug, I had Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. When I lost the last baby, I needed surgery twice to completely remove everything and the anaesthetists, whilst being very sympathetic, were really not at all happy at having to give me a general anaesthetic without having access to a vein first (in case I stopped breathing and needed urgent medication) so they told me to ask my GP for treatment and they referred me for it.

I was a bit doubtful at first because the phobia was so strong that I almost couldn't bear the thought of hating needles less. It wasn't easy but even after the first few sessions, I knew that I could probably manage to have an injection.

I'm still not a great patient (I howled throughout and drummed my heels on poor DH's chest, then spent the rest of the day unable to acknowledge that the arm that had the injection was still attached to me) but I managed to keep still to have the injection and didn't feel at any point that I might lose control and try to fight off the person using the needle which has been a problem before and was my biggest fear. I know I could do it again too if I need to.

Definitely ask your GP if you need help. I think sometimes hypnotherapy is used too and maybe NLP. It depends on the services near you.

Ladypug · 27/02/2015 08:00

Thank you, I'm awful with needles, worse with blood and even worse with anaesthetic! I have control issues!! I will look into it! x

AuntieDee · 27/02/2015 08:03

AnnaBegins and Fizzy

I too am still riding - though I am only 8 weeks so no bump in the way. I have 4 but am only riding one as one is unbacked and 2 only just broken - this was supposed to be my year for breaking my youngsters in but I messed my timings up lol. My mare who I am still riding is 6 and I trust her totally - she's a steady sort and very sensible. I'm still schooling and hacking but not jumping. Message me if you want to compare notes. I put a thread in the horsey section about riding whilst pregnant too :)

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 27/02/2015 08:15

ca55andra, I had a scan there last week and it was really good. The sonographer was patient and took her time.

Bambino29 · 27/02/2015 09:02

Good luck for today Shieldbug. X

Ladypug · 27/02/2015 09:06

Good luck Shieldbug xx

gingerbreadmam · 27/02/2015 10:32

good luck today shieldbug hope all is well.

flipflump · 27/02/2015 14:01

Is there room for another?

Got my BFP 2 weeks ago, 2nd pregnancy (DS 18 months), EDD 24/10.

Very excited and keeping everything crossed. Noticed there's now a November '15 bus so after lots of lurking decided it was time to say hello.

Ladypug · 27/02/2015 14:25

Congrats flipflump, welcome to the bus! :-)

batfish · 27/02/2015 15:23

Congrats flipflump! Excellent due date - it's my birthday Smile

Fizzy13 · 27/02/2015 15:43

Welcome flipflump!

Quick question: how is everyone managing eating? I can't seem to manage real meals without feeling like my insides are too big for my outsides. So I basically eat constantly. I'm just trying to make sure that over a day I've eaten a range of things even if all I want at one point is iced buns!

Auntie lucky thing with your own. Although right now I couldn't cope with the work and DH has taken on so much already. We've recently moved so I would be starting at a new centre so I'm leaving it until after 12wks and will then talk to the instructors about what they are happy with. Even if its just a bit of lateral work in a school it'll keep me relaxed and happy and I'm pretty sure thats what we're aiming for at the moment.

gingerbreadmam · 27/02/2015 15:47

i know i need to eat i even get a little hungry at times but knowing what to eat is an absolute nitemare.

i am eating because i know i have to more than anything else. in which case i think im overeating and like u i feel utterly huge like i didnt know u could feel so big when baby is the size of a raspberry lol. does not bode well for me Blush

next week i am going to prepare food for work but only eat it if i want it rather than because i think i have to. hopefully Grin

Choccywoccydodah · 27/02/2015 15:50

Hi ladies!! Congrats on all your pregnancies!!

Can I cautiously join you please?
Haven't read back, so I don't know if i 'know' any of you, I've been avoiding the busses for some time.

I've had an awful 18 months having 8 early losses in that time.
HOWEVER, I am now either 5+3 or 5+5 (hospital saying 5+3 from CB digi ov smiley, me saying +5 as felt ov 2 days before! And always got a + dip stick cd14, whereas this month was my first time using digi and smiley was later).
Anyway, today is my furthest day with no spotting or bleeding, hurrah!
Am feeling more optimistic with this one.
I'm on the response trial (injection every day for 12 weeks, may be a placebo or drug), I get scanned at 6,8,10 and 12 weeks. My first scan is Tuesday.
I have a 3.6 year old ds, no mc before him, and he was conceived 3rd month, same as the first one I lost.

Sorry to rabbit on!!

EDD is 27th Oct, 4 days before my birthday Smile

Hope I get to stay with you x

newbian · 27/02/2015 15:54

Hi there - I'd also like to take a seat on the bus! Got BFP two days ago and confirmed by another test at the docs today. I'm 5 weeks and 2 days, EDD 28 Oct. First pregnancy so nervous!

Anyone else super gassy (yuck I know)? I'm tired and having trouble sleeping as well Hmm

Choccywoccydodah · 27/02/2015 15:59

Congrats Newbian!!
I started a thread about gas last night!! I stink!! Grin

Fizzy13 · 27/02/2015 16:07

Congratulations Choccy and newbian, welcome on board!

Ca55andraMortmain · 27/02/2015 16:09

gingerbreadmam · 27/02/2015 16:34
