Wow Flowers to all new BFP'ers and all those who have seen their babies by scan so far.

I'm around 8 1/2 weeks now and actually clothing is starting to get tight - mainly due to bloating, but having already had DC's my stomach sticks out at the slightest thing. I'm normally a size 8 so will have to invest in baggy jumpers if I'm not telling for another few weeks.

For all those suffering with morning sickness, eating definitely helps - but I'm never really hungry - does anyone else get that. It's like I eat when the nausea hits but I'm not actually in the mood for food (and I love food normally).

I'm also using travel sickness bands, vit b (although check of you're already taking a pregnancy vitamin, as most contain vit b). Neither ginger or lemon are working though.

MrsEvans - please can we have a picture of the puppy? You're brave getting a new dog as well as everything else you've got going on!

I did get some baby grows in the john lewis sale last week - I figure that as I've got several friends who are ttc at the moment, if I am unfortunate enough to lose bean I can give the grows away to some lovely friends. Sorry that's a bit depressing.

Hope everyone is managing with work, now that most have had the tiredness and sickness hit. I had a couple of days off last week - blamed D&V bug, which hasn't aroused suspicion.

The drinking thing, I did a brilliant game of swapping/passing drinks with DH recently. Also ordering non alcoholic cocktails works (but I like cocktails so not unusual).

toobreathless · 24/02/2015 05:19

hello!

just popping in, congrats to all the new BFPs!

I have an early scan this morning- 6 hours time! (previous ectopic) very, very, very nervous....

It doesn't feel 'real' at present even when I saw a brightly coloured size 0-3 snowsuit in a charity shop- new with tags! bought it for 99p and thought I can always make a profit on ebay.

We have the NCT bednest if anyone has any questions about it , I think someone was asking up thread.

I get strangely protective over my pregnancies and hate telling people, obviously DH knows and one person at work when I explained I couldnt help hold a child for an X Ray. Will announce to close friends at 12 weeks, family at 15 weeks as we have a family wedding at 14 weeks and I don't want to be congratulated at it. The world and his wife- 20 weeks plus or on arrival!

mushy this is also my third, how old are your two? I have two DDs both april birthdays so almost 4 and almost 2 yrs.

hope this finds everyone else well and not sufferring too much.

raggymay · 24/02/2015 06:06

Good luck with the scan today.
I know what you mean about being protective over the pregnancy. I'm quite enjoying this news being just between myself and DP. As it's our fourth, no one is going to be very excited for us and some might even have opinions about it so I'm hoping to wait for as long as possible before telling people. Our other dc's are boys so I'd like to be able to announce the gender along with the first announcement to reduce gender speculation which was a bit hurtful last time. Don't know how this will work if I start showing at 12 weeks though. My mum is already glancing at my stomach looking for signs.

raggymay · 24/02/2015 06:12

Oh, I also hired the NCT bednest last year and it worked really well. They deliver at a date you request and by 6 months you call to arrange pick up and they send a courier. Really simple and the bednest works well as it can be tilted which helps with refluxy babies.
If anyone is looking for another (cheaper) co-sleeper option then there is a hack involving an ikea gulliver cot. That way you have a cheap co-sleeper that can also become a stand alone cot.

Frenchfancies · 24/02/2015 07:40

Just thought I'd better say hello, can't believe already half way through a second thread!

SecretlyobsessedbyLego · 24/02/2015 07:46

Morning Lovely Ladies,
How is everyone doing this morning? I've requested to join the Facebook group. DS1 is currently struggling at bedtimes. He's 3 and a half and has suddenly started to say he's not tired and shouting us for ages. Luckily he doesn't get out of bed really but it can be over an hours worth of us going up and downstairs. I'm feeling pretty knackered in the evening and this, teamed with him waking earlier than usual is making for hard work! We have a GroClock which worked for about 2 weeks! Anyone got any advice or tips?

alien11 · 24/02/2015 08:49

Morning all,

toobreathless I'm thinking of the bednest as lifting dd out from her Moses basket to fb her absolutely killed my back :(. She was 8lb 9 when born and rapidly got bigger! Is it easy to bring child to you instead of lifting baby out.?good luck with the scan!

No symptoms here still, trying to remain positive, 2 days until booking in appt. do I need to take anything? Only I have a copy of my birth notes from dd I asked for a copy as she arrived so quick! (3.5 hrs in total from an inkling something was happening !)

People that know our news; mum, dad, one of my closest friends who is also my cousins wife :)( so cousin too!) and a friend who lives where I used to live and whom I met through nct last time.
I won't be announcing it on fb this time and want to avoid my sister knowing as long as I can- we don't get on- she's a snob and always making bitchy comments how having a 2nd wouldn't be good for us, we can't afford it etc. she works lots and lives in big house, private school for the kids ( partly funded by our parents..!) everyone has children and my dd is so so happy and content, she's got a heck of a lot more that other children have - shelter, food, love, fun, laughter, days out etc.

secretly sorry to hear about your ds not wanting to sleep :( if he doesn't come out of his room do you have to keep going up? I put dd to bed then leave her to 'read' more books for about 10-15 mins and often go up and she's covered in books with the big light on soundo! Also he's old enough to understand he needs sleep to have energy for the next days activities. Re the gro clock,we love it!our dd goes through stages of waking when it's not sun but only by 10 mins or so, we didn't have it for two nights and she slept until 8 then got it back and she woke earlier haha.

mrsevans having a dog is fab :) we ve been dog owners for years, our dd and dog have a wonderful little relationship. It's wonderful to see.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. A day of pure laziness here - dog walk & park with dd sometime this morning then couple of errands to run. Housework & actually playing with dd. Always seem to have something to do!

Fizzy13 · 24/02/2015 09:32

Don't panic alien everyone is different. I think we're all going to worry until we see everything is ok.
After a brief respite nausea is back. Almost threw up in the street after someone blew smoke towards me.
Congrats to the newbies, you got some fun to come! I had no idea being pregnant would be so all encompassing so early on. At least we're all in it together. Let's all remember to be excited as well as sick, sore, crampy panic stricken, shattered....

batfish · 24/02/2015 09:59

Well I called my grandma last night to announce her first great grandchild - and before I could say she told me that my cousin had told her yesterday that she is pregnant! it was so funny, I was trying not to laugh when she was telling me as I knew what we were about to tell her. I am the oldest grandchild by quite a few years so it was a surprise about my cousin as she is single as well but I'm so happy for her as she is apparently very excited, she is about 9 weeks accordingly to my grandma so just a couple of weeks ahead of me. I just hope my grandma keeps our secret better than she did hers haha! I can't wait until I am allowed to know and can talk to her about it!

batfish · 24/02/2015 10:03

alien try not to worry (and you know how much I have been worrying) - I still have no symptoms other than the sore boobs which are much less sore than they were. I am not tired, no weird tasting food, no nausea, no weird dreams, no mood swings - totally normal. I'm trying a new thing this week where I pretend it's all fine until I get some sign otherwise! Can't say I always totally fool myself but I have managed to chill out a little bit, hope you feel better about things too. I have a scan on 7th March so if all is fine with me then it means that no symptoms are not a problem at all, fingers crossed!

Mumwannabe82 · 24/02/2015 10:05

Toobreathless, wishing you lots of luck today with your scan xx
I never realised the difference it has made me feel having an early scan!! its broke up the 12 week wait no end and I'm grateful for it Smile

MrsEvansAlmost · 24/02/2015 11:40

Morning as requested here is the newest addition to our expanding brood! She was born on the same day as potential conception! Odd!

Good luck to those that have scans today. Booking in appt for me tomorrow so tempted to lie and say don't know when LMP was so I get a scan earlier, very naughty! 8+5 today no nausea boobs have been fine.. Panic that bean isn't growing in over drive!!

Anyway this is Mabel she's currently snoozing in my lap and is being my baby to get me into early mornings and having eyes in the back of my head!

Hi girls

Hope it is ok if I join. I am 7+3 after first ICSI. I am due on the 5th of October. Had a scan last Thursday and saw my little bean and heard its heartbeat which was amazing!

October seems like forever away and I am constantly worrying like alot of you about miscarriage even though the nurse explained that now it is down to 25% risk and every week that goes by it lowers by 5%

Got another scan at 10 weeks ( 12th of March) so am now counting down the days until that!

On this journey all we seem to do is wish our lives away!

batfish · 24/02/2015 13:25

Hi anroga and congratulations! I am 7+4 so we are nearly the same. I am due 9th Oct though so not sure what's going on with the difference in dates.

I'm with you on the worrying, time has never moved so slowly in my life as it has since BFP!!

batfish · 24/02/2015 13:27

Oh and I want your due date! 5-10-15 - how cool! (geeeeek)

anroga · 24/02/2015 13:47

Hi Batfish

I am going to go home tonight and check my scan card for my due date perhaps I have got it wrong! Anyway we are basically the same with how many weeks we are!

Me too that BFP seems like years ago!

How are you feeling (apart from the incessant worrying!) x

batfish · 24/02/2015 14:13

I am feeling absolutely fine hence the worrying haha - I want a bit of random vomiting!

batfish · 24/02/2015 14:23

Sorry how rude of me, didn't ask how you are feeling!

anroga · 24/02/2015 14:55

Well I think I made have had the start of some nausea yesterday and today but not actually sick but could be my brain playing tricks on me! My boobs are much bigger and hurt, needing to constantly go to the toilet, got some cramps but the nurse confirmed on Thursday they were normal and generally feel alot more tired than usual but apart from that I feel ok!

Maybe we will both be lucky with the morning sickness!

Fizzy13 · 24/02/2015 15:00

Anyone else totally unable to concentrate? I'm going to be in trouble if I get this little work done for the next 7 months!

Twinkletoes007 · 24/02/2015 15:06

fizzy yes. I get to 2pm and am basically asleep at my desk.

gaggiagirl · 24/02/2015 15:06

I'm 7+5 and haven't 'reached out' to the GP or midwife or anyone. Is that ok? I might call into the surgery when I'm about 9 weeks or something. That's ok though isn't it?
Just seems like everyone else has been to the docs!

Fizzy13 · 24/02/2015 15:16

I was told that pre 8 weeks is best as some tests need to be done that early (I think for some blood disorders) but it seems like each area is different.
You could give them a ring and ask what is the done thing, the receptionist would know, or ask for a phone consult with the nurse and they could fill you in.
