gaggia I'm sure it's fine - well done for not being a massive stresspot like the rest of us haha. The only thing my doc did was scan, I haven't had any tests of any kind and I will be 8 weeks on Friday. Oh my god I'll be 8 weeks on Friday!!

alien11 · 24/02/2015 15:36

It's interesting that some areas do bloods at 8 weeks. No contact with mw until 10 weeks (or possibly 8 weeks going by my mad dates!)
I will be the same as at my booking appt with dd where it didn't feel at all real and I probably came across quite rude. I felt I was filling in forms for someone else!

LadyStark · 24/02/2015 16:00

Any fellow commuters on this thread? I feel ridiculous getting a baby on board badge this early but I felt really rough on the train in today - packed, no seats, hot and smells of coffee.

Anyone else facing similar issue?

gaggiagirl · 24/02/2015 16:11

Thanks for the info ladies. I think in this area they aren't interested til you are 8-10 weeks judging by previous pregnancy.

stark I feel your pain. I nearly vommed into my handbag on the bus last week.

Ladypug · 24/02/2015 16:21

Hey everyone,

Can I join? I'm still reading the October baby bus #1 (all 40 pages, I've learnt loads!) I found out on Saturday we're 6 weeks pregnant, due around 20th October I think.

Bambino29 · 24/02/2015 16:41

Can relate on the morning sickness front - was sick with my 1st pregnancy so was weirdly hoping for it this time for a bit of reassurance; now it's here, I could definitely do without it! So much harder this time with a nearly 2 year old to run round after and dirty nappies to change!

Trying to convince my husband that we 'need' an early scan - know that it won't actually make any difference to outcome but would like the reassurance. Those of you who've paid for them, are you glad you did - do you actually feel better for it?

Toast85 · 24/02/2015 16:44

Gaggia I thought they would want to see you around 8-10 weeks for booking in appointment with mw. So I went to GP at 6+3 just to get the ball rolling with a referral (as we can't self refer to mw in my area). Maybe worth a phone call to GP at least, so you know?

AnnaG85 · 24/02/2015 16:58

Bambino I had an early scan at 8 + 5 for no other reason than for my own peace of mind. I know in some areas they are really expensive, here in the North West it was £55. At first I thought I was just being irrationally inpatient but I'm really glad we went. I know there are no guarantees at any stage but to see a strong heartbeat and a baby measuring correctly has made me feel a lot less anxious & made this nausea and fatigue a little more bearable. Though I'm sure I'll start the worrying again soon enough!

gingerbreadmam · 24/02/2015 18:01

my gp doesnt see you gaggia just straight in with the midwife which i have booked next week when i will be 7+3 officially however i think i might be a few days further along than that.

im really excited just now, picked up parcel frm next which dm ordered and this will be overload for anyone who doesnt love christmas as much as me but babys december wardrobe is jam packed haha! how exciting.

Stinkersmum · 24/02/2015 18:50

I've had some light brown discharge today :( Not enough to warrant a panty liner but enough to throw me into complete despair. Anyone else had this around seven weeks? I had my first scan on Saturday which went really well, heartbeat and all, but now I'm convinced I'm miscarrying. :(

kezod · 24/02/2015 18:54

gaggiagirl I've just been to the docs, they've advised me to get in contact with the midwife myself and book an appointment. They normally want to see you around 8 weeks apparently, so it sounds as though your about on track for phoning them! You don't actually need to see the GP first (which I didn't realise!) unless you need extra folic acid or other medical problem...

Bambino29 · 24/02/2015 18:59

stinkersmum sorry you've had a scare - I had the same with my first pregnancy, enough to warrant a scan and all absolutely fine. If it continues I'd ask for a repeat scan for your peace of mind but I think it's really common.

Thanks AnnaG - food for thought. I'm only 6+4 and the private scanning place here won't do them until 7 weeks so I think I'll hold out for another week and see how I feel. In any other situation, five weeks is nothing but when pregnant and waiting for first scan it feels like forever!

gingerbreadmam · 24/02/2015 19:01

dont panic stinky brown is old blood so i wouldnt worry just yet. its reassuring you had a good scan. if u r worried u could try calling ur local epu.

i think when it is spotting they will advise rest unless u have pain or something more significant in which case they will usually scan u. i hope u r ok. try not to worry. spotting is vet common in early pregnancy.

Toast85 · 24/02/2015 19:03

Stinkersmum I had a little bit of light brown discharge last week (week 6-7) on and off- not enough to really show much on a liner but noticeable when I wiped. I mentioned it to GP as I was going to see her anyway, and she wasn't at all bothered by it. But if it's worrying you then it's worth checking with your GP. Hope all is ok.

Stinkersmum · 24/02/2015 19:06

Thanks all. I have another scan booked on 21st March. I'll speak to DH and see if he thinks it's worth going sooner. I'm guessing either way there's nothing much I can do about it. Fingers crossed for me please ladies xxx

martinsgirl · 24/02/2015 19:21

Fingers crossed Stinkersmum!

Anyone else really tired at the moment? I've been practically falling asleep at my desk!

Ladypug · 24/02/2015 19:29

I'm crazy tired, also on and off pretty anxious!

Stinkersmum · 24/02/2015 19:52

Yep, exhausted.... But I'm not complaining! I'll take any symptom you can throw at me as long as this sticks!

Bambino29 · 24/02/2015 20:08

Yep, can't keep my eyes open from about 2pm! About three hours after morning sickness has gone away. Still, like you say Stinkers, not complaining as all a good sign I guess!

gaggiagirl · 24/02/2015 21:20

Thanks ladies. I can toddle to the surgery tomorrow and self refer to the midwife. I just fill out a form. Because I live in the sticks the midwife only collects these forms on Tuesday afternoon. Crazy!. There must be only one midwife for miles!

orangeshortbread · 24/02/2015 22:04

Anybody else struggling to find food and drink that they fancy? The morning sickness has kicked in and I'm not really off tea - which I usually drink all the time. One sip this morning was enough to start the sickness off. I'm not really fancying any of my usual comfort food/drinks.

Any ideas for replacement comforting hot drinks other than fruit tea?

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 24/02/2015 22:06

I am orange so hard to keep the nausea at bay by eating when you don't want anything to eat. Hungry but nauseous is a horrid combo.

townsender · 24/02/2015 22:12

ga if your mw only collects once a week, then I'd definitely go and get yourself registered as soon as poss. Not because they need to see you soon, but sometimes they are all booked up for scans and the earlier you register the more likely you are to get it at 12 weeks exactly.

Booking appt for me is tomorrow, and I'll be 9+1. Slightly nervous.

Toast85 · 24/02/2015 22:13

I've pretty much gone off tea too. I'm finding ginger tea good - helps with nausea as well as being a nice hot drink.
Or just plain cold water, drinking loads of that. Have been so thirsty since BFP!

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 24/02/2015 22:36

Orange, I have a new found love of hot squash since my BFP!
