My eating is crazy, it's strange how it takes the nausea away though. Strange to feel sick & want to eat?

gingerbreadmam · 22/02/2015 19:34

its almost like ur body is sucked off something it needs so you have to restock. yesterday in the shop i had no choice but to buy a family size trifle and some jam tarts. dont think i have ever bought jam tarts before.

luckily the jam tarts were not the flavours i were after so i binned them before i eat them anyway and half the trifle is still sat in the fridge and i dont want it anymore thankfully.

managed soup for dinner today which isnt too bad and a roast beef dinner where i only eat the veg mash and pudding. may as well own up to the twirl bites and sensations i am snacking on now tho Shock yes tomoro i will be better.

Theboxtrollsareallowed · 22/02/2015 20:06

Hope time passes quickly for us all...

Twinkletoes007 · 22/02/2015 20:16

Wow lots to catch up on. Will read back. In the meantime - mrsevans you must post a puppy pic! How exciting!

Like many of you I feel sick but find eating really helps. I've not actually been sick so hoping it stays that way but am learning that anything is possible! Last few days I've felt absolutely knackered. I remember reading about people saying there were tired and being a bit yeah yeah how bad can it be. REALLY bad! I'm normally a midnight kinda girl and need only 6 hours sleep!

AnnaG85 · 22/02/2015 20:19

So good to read this thread and see how others are getting on. It's certainly chatty. Had an early scan today (just for my own reassurance). Lucky here in the north west as only £55. Saw a perfect baby with strong heartbeat measuring 8 weeks 5 days.
To those worrying about symptoms...my bbs hurt a lot more weeks 4-7. Now just tender ocassionally. Just exhaustion and nausea persist (strange how eating helps!) Staying up past 8pm is a challenge too

Twinkletoes007 · 22/02/2015 20:21

box hi! Are you in london? Just wondering where you are having your private scan? Mine tomorrow is an NHS one because of spotting issues they want to just check out but i may have a 10 week one privately (is this the dating and abnormality scan?) as on holiday at 12 weeks and the nhs might not be able to fit me in before I go.

shieldbug · 22/02/2015 20:22

I'm surprised to find that I have been feeling a little nauseous (no previous puking record) but ginger is keeping it at bay. I have my booking in appt on the 2nd March so just over a week to go! Can't wait.

Toast85 · 22/02/2015 20:36

I'm also finding that eating helps the nausea! For the first week or so (Between 4 1/2 and 6 weeks ish) I really lost my appetite, so unlike me. It's come back in the last week, just a few things I really don't fancy and my taste buds have changed a bit. Now I'm stocking up on ginger biscuits, salty crackers and satsumas, all help when I feel nauseous.
And the fatigue comes and goes, tends to get worse with the nausea mid-morning and back again mid afternoon without the nausea.
Heyho! I am finding it fascinating- though sometimes get a bit freaked out that I feel so different from how I'm used to feeling.

crazypuglady · 22/02/2015 20:51

Yup food is the only thing that stops me puking too, funny isn't it? Sadly it's turning me into a fatty fatty. I'm scared of the scales and my love handles have grown already. My boobs are a nightmare. I've always slept on my front but now I can't because they hurt too much. So, despite being knackered, I can't sleep when I get to bed.

I feel like I owe womankind an apology. I always thought the early days when you can't see anything must be easy. I underestimated how tiring, painful and unpleasant the whole growing a foetus thing could be!

gingerbreadmam · 22/02/2015 20:54

crazypug thats maybe not a bad thing about ur boobs, uve been meaning to ask on here, can you lay on ur tummy when pregnant?

common sense says not and its not something i always do but strangely enough now i think i cant i kind of miss it.

butterflygirl1515 · 22/02/2015 21:00

Hi,

I'd like to join the October baby bus. I'm 37 and this will be my first baby.
Just got my date for the 12 week scan. Cant wait!!

Have already had a couple of internal scans but that was as I had a lot of pains in the first week after conception and then bleeding in the 2nd week. Thankfully was just implantation and all is going smoothly at the mo.

crazypuglady · 22/02/2015 21:19

ginger as far as I'm aware you can until you get a bump and then you just won't be able to. Not heard that you can't in early pregnancy but I could be wrong, I don't know a fat lot about pregnancy or babies Grin

Welcome to all the newbies, congratulations on your BFPs Smile

gingerbreadmam · 22/02/2015 21:31

oh that does make more sense i duno why if got it into my head you couldnt. thank you.

another congrats on all the new bfps Thanks

townsender · 22/02/2015 22:18

Welcome butterfly congrats! Glad its all going smoothly for you.

I'm also stuffing my face to keep the nausea away. Its weird isn't it - I'll feel full one minutes, then the next I'll get that gnawing, empty feeling in my stomach that makes me feel sick unless I have some carbs NOW NOW NOW. Trying to persuade DP to go into the loft and find my maternity clothes, as my tum is definitely outgrowing my jeans already.

twinkle I've booked 2 private scans with the Harmony test at the FMC. They were by far the cheapest I could find in London for Harmony, and the scans are a greasy bonus Grin.

Twinkletoes007 · 22/02/2015 23:09

Thanks town. Will investigate.

Congrats on all the new BFPs!

batfish · 23/02/2015 05:10

Congrats to everyone who has had good scans and BFPs! Still no sickness or at all over here, started my new positive thinking effort yesterday though so even though I don't feel remotely pregnant am believing that all is good. Do I sound convincing?

ginger as far as I am aware it is fine to sleep on your stomach up to a certain point and then you're supposed to only sleep on your left hand side or something. But at the early stages I think stomach is fine, I always sleep on my stomach so I'm not looking forward to when I can't!

Twinkletoes007 · 23/02/2015 09:55

So just had the scan at 5+5. They said measurements were normal. Saw a sac (one, phew!) but no heart beat yet which they weren't surprised about. Decided not to have a hissy fit and say my MN pals have seen heart beats that early. Will have another one in 2 weeks. Impressed with nhs. I guess once you have a spotting issue you're on the system and they've got to keep monitoring you.

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 23/02/2015 10:07

Congratulations for all new BFPs!

This thread had dropped off my 'I'm on' threads list - I've obviously been slack at commenting!

Cineraria · 23/02/2015 10:27

No problem Secretly, I have updated the October 2015 Statistics Sheet with the details you mentioned. Congratulations Butterfly! I have added you too. there are 100 of us now! I love seeing the possible names and bump nicknames people have added; it makes the babies seem like real people already.

Has anyone else collected the Emma's Diary Mum-to-be pack from Argos/Boots yet? I wasn't sure whether I would, when I got the booklet from the GP, as I heard you can end up with loads of junk mail but my curiosity got the better of me. It had samples of stretch mark products and sensitive bladder pads (hope I won't need those for a while but it did serve as a reminder about pelvic floor exercises). There was also a nice Johnson's newborn baby essentials kit with a full size pack of wipes and other product samples.

batfish · 23/02/2015 11:21

Yay for everything looking good at your scan twinkle! I had heartbeat at 5+5 but had totally not expected to as everything I had read said it would be later so I don't think it is common so definitely nothing to worry about, you'll see one next time.

I would like to feel pregnant now please!!!

gingerbreadmam · 23/02/2015 11:28

thanks batfish.

im sure im the last one to know about this but my ovia app today says women who eat fruit and veg everyday have less chance of mc in the first trimester than women that dont. made me buy an apple this morning with my brekkie ha!

batfish · 23/02/2015 11:50

Oh bloody hell I'm screwed as since my BFP I had a week skiing (diet consisted solely of carbs, meat and cheese) and then have had my parents staying so there hasn't been a whole lot of healthy eating going on there either!

gingerbreadmam · 23/02/2015 12:36

doesnt mean youre screwed batfish haha think its just a good insentive.

i dont stick to the whole 5 a day thing but do try to have fruit or veg with each meal, on a wkend tho could easily go without.

not sure how accurate ovia is either but thought was worth a mention.

batfish · 23/02/2015 12:55

Actually today I've been v good - had a banana and a plum for breakfast and then tuna, ryvita and salad for lunch, not quite my 5 a day but probably 3! Unfortunately I don't think tonight will be so healthy but it could be worse - there could be wine involved I wish

Actually speaking of wine - does anyone have any genius ideas of excuses for not drinking? Because with women of childbearing age 'I'm not drinking as I'm on antibiotics' is basically a pregnancy announcement. The girls at work are talking about arranging drinks in the next couple of weeks and we usually fix a date that everyone can make so I won't be able to just say I can't make it. I feel like other medication would be acceptable but antibiotics is too obvious haha! I don't want to tell work until I feel like I'm about to start showing so that will probably not be for at least 5 weeks.
