It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

Hope it's nothing to worry about Tex111 - Could you try ringing your 'Early pregnancy unit' and see if they will take pity on you.

My gp said mine wouldn't scan me if I wasn't bleeding, but I tried them and they will because of my history.

It is not something I ever worried about before I had an ectopic, I'm looking forward to tues when we will find out.

I never got any symptoms when I had an ectopic, so not much to go on, but apparently they include, often spotting or bleeding, colicky crampy pain starting on one side then spreading throughout the abdomen, pain may worsen on coughing , moving or going toilet. Sometimes nausea and vomiting, dizziness or weakness, shoulder pain, or rectal pressure.

Scarily I seem to have some of these, but expect them to be signs of pregnancy, so it's really hard to know.

Jimjams - I tested again yesterday too, for the same reason, and got a stronger hcg line than the test line!!!

Farnborough? As in Bromley? DS1 and ds2 were born there! If it is that Farnborough they have a very good EPU run by someone called Tracey. Ususally its easy to get referred there......

oooh Japan- did you get a little photo album to put your scan piccies in- and did they scan with a sheet up? WHere were you in japan (I used to live in Hiroshima)

Tex111 · 05/05/2004 22:21

Thanks smelly and jimjams. I do have some of those symptoms but I had them last time too like the dizziness and nausea. It can all be so confusing! I feel a bit calmer now. I'm sure 50% of it is just my hormones!

It is that Farnborough. Last time around we were in Japan for the first 4.5 months of the pregnancy so I've never even heard of EPUs! Sounds very interesting and I'll definitely look into it.

That's amazing jimjams, two of us Japan to Bromley! We were in Tokyo for a year. DH had a work contract and I basically just bummed around and spent too much time shopping. That is until I got pregnant. Sushi is not good when you have morning sickness. It was a great experience and very interesting to be pregnant there. The rules are so different. They actually recommend hot baths for relaxation in the first few months! What were you doing in Hiroshima?

fisil · 05/05/2004 22:26

Just seen this thread - can't believe we're on January 2005 already! Ds was due on New Years Eve, finally put in an appearance on 11th Jan! - it's a really good time to be pg ... you miss all the hot weather with your bump, everyone makes a fuss of you over Xmas (and you get to sit down in crowded places) and you have a very low probability of driving to hospital in the rush hour!

Congratulations to you all! Good luck.

Tex111 · 05/05/2004 22:39

Forgot to answer your scan questions jimjams. I didn't get an album for the pics but I did get loads of pics and a video! It was brilliant, unbelievable images. DH scanned the pics in so we could email them to our parents. My doc acually used a trans-vaginal ultrasound which was very (ahem) interesting. If you haven't seen one it's basically this thing like a huge dildo. She would actually put a condom on it before the scan! I joked once that I usually get dinner and a movie first but she didn't even smile. Didn't make anymore jokes after that!

hana · 05/05/2004 22:45

tex - I've had sooooo many scans with what you've described......thought that's how they all were done before the baby was a certain size!!!! Your description is a good one

pssssssst

Jimjams · 05/05/2004 23:12

EPU= early pregnancy unit. And yep you get the dildo scan in there as well :-) The condoms there say something on the boxes about anal use (bleuurgh!)

Well the farnborough I had ds1 and ds2 in has now been knocked down -so it s brand new. The old Farnborough was very dirty so take cleaning materials (dh ended up havng to wipe my blood off the floor with paper towels- yuck yuck yuck). Apparently tv by every bed etc now though.

If we hadn't moved we could have shared a room. We're in Devon now. Although apparently at this hospital with a section I'll get my own room

I was on the JET scheme in Japan, so was teaching in an agricultural high school, visited other schools including special schools which was interesting. Was actually out in the sticks - about half an hour from Hiroshima by train. I love hearing different countries advice for pregnancy. In France they recommmend a glass of red wine every day to keep blood pressure down.....

Jezebel · 05/05/2004 23:26

Smelly, thanks for the chart advice. Both say I am havong a boy. How exciting!

smellymelly · 06/05/2004 15:44

Jimjams - where in Devon are you?? I'm near Exeter!! Will be delivering at RD&E

Hi eveyone...
Firstly congrats to you all ...I'm due somewhere between 29 Dec and 2 Jan. Not from the TTC thread as this a bit of a surprise - esp as only just gone back to work (DD1 is just 1). We were planning to wait another 4-5 months before trying (took 9 months to conceive with DD so figured it would take a while) - so all a bit of a shock - but a pleasant one !!!! Only thing is that last weekend I had a stinker of a cold and ended up taking lemsip tablets all weekend - just went and checked the pamphlet and it says check with GP before taking - do you think baby will be ok ????? also havent been taking folic and have had a few glasses of wine - feel so bad about it now, but i had no idea other than i was late - but that's not unusual as only just stopped b/feeding and periods all over the place !!!! is there anyone else out there who has been as bad as me ??

Quackers · 07/05/2004 00:20

Just popping in - congrats all!
I'm just wanting to say huge congrats to BIGBIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't bloody know! Sorry, I've been away!! I'm delighted for you, it;s about time you had your turn my friend!!!!! xxxxx Q
BTW, I lived in Japan too for a while, worked for JAL as cabin crew for 4 yrs, small world eh!

Tex111 · 07/05/2004 01:35

Amazing how many of us have spent time in Japan! I'll definitely encourage DS to do something like JET. It was so different living in a non-English speaking country and being a minority for a change. Learned a lot.

Feeling better today. I did another HPT (and that makes 5!) and the line has gotten increasingly darker. I read that with an ectopic the line often stays very light because the levels of HCG don't increase at the same speed as a regular pregnancy. That and the GP visit have put my mind at rest, so time to find something else to worry about!

Geegeesmum, I wouldn't worry. I've read that you need to drink something like 5 units of alcohol a day every day and then a baby MAY get Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I'm sure you haven't done any damage. Just start taking your folic acid now and you'll be fine. A friend of mine was 4 months gone before the realised she was pregnant because she was still breastfeeding and didn't take folic acid at all. She recently gave birth to a very healthy baby girl. As for the Lemsip, I think it's mostly paracetemol and I know that paracetemol is fine to take during pregnancy. In fact, my GP recommended it at my appointment on Friday for some cramps I've been having. I'd just let your GP know and I'm sure he or she will reassure you. Congrats on the pregnancy! We were surprised we got PG so fast too but what a great surprise.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's experienced the wonders of a trans-vag scan! Quite an experience.

Jimjams · 08/05/2004 00:43

geegeesmum- yep I was drinking like a fish and not taking folic acid as well....... Had to stop/start suddenly.

Tex I'm still worrying about an ectopic/m/c/anything else I can think about. I am so useless during pregnancy,.

Anyway off to bed.....

smellymelly · 08/05/2004 12:15

Well - I have been sick this morning (aghhh) and guess what it made DP throw up too!!!! LOL.

I feel really nauseas (now I can't spell either). It has comes on very strong now, so feel positive about it not being ectopic again. We will find out tomorrow!

geegeesmum - There are so many women who don't know they are pregnant until later, so i wouldn't worry too much about a few drinks (I actually know a couple of people who had done a lot worse in the first 2 weeks) This month although we sort of tried, I really didn't think I could be pregnant and I used a sunbed once, and ate some pate!!

Hi all - glad to hear the sickness has kicked in Smellymelly.

Thanks so much Quackers. I had been looking out for you since last week but saw on another thread you have finished work so thought you weren't online any more ! It's all sunk in now I think but am still nervous, as you would be so early on.
I am keeping up with how things are going for you too. It's great to be finally browsing the pregnancy threads. I had kind of kept away from them before. Anyhow - thanks for your good wishes...it means a lot. Hope you are feeling good.

Quackers · 08/05/2004 14:25

I'm just really pleased for you Bigbird! We were trying at the same time and you;ve seen my ups and downs as I have yours. It feels good doesn;t it to finally be on a due month and having all the pgcy probs like everyone else!! Yes I've finished work, but was just on holiday and haven't been on the ttc board for a little while. I log on mostly eve's now. Speak soon! Qxxx

smellymelly · 09/05/2004 16:17

OMG OMG OMG

(((whispers))) ... may be twins!!!!!!

Very early yet, saw 2 possible gestational sacs, but nothing much to see in them yet. They have started blood tests, and have another scan booked next Tues.

OP posts:
Toothache · 09/05/2004 17:03

WOW SmellyMelly!!!! How exciting. I was convinced I was going to have twins this time, and I think a part of me really wanted it to be twins. But then when I found out it wasn't I must admit to being quite relieved!!

2 sacs... must mean 2 embryos... doesn't it? There hasn't been a twin pregnancy on MN since I started posting. WOW WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW.

Jimjams · 09/05/2004 17:45

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!

hana · 09/05/2004 18:21

how exciting smellymelly!! A friend had twin boys at Christmas this year, they're gorgeuos!

smellymelly · 09/05/2004 19:08

Well apparently one could be a 'psuedo' sac,(spelling?) but we will see next Tues.

Still in shock... and feel incredibly sick!

cab · 09/05/2004 19:22

OMG smellmelly - that is exciting news! Wow.
Congratulations everyone else.
I MIGHT be due January, but not counting on it yet.
Just a few days late - have done 3 tests in last 24 hrs. First showed negative (but later faint positive when pulled out of the bin). Next 2 very faint positives. What do you think guys?
Been trying (sort of) for over 2 years following a m/c so not holding out too much hope. DD now 3.5 years (and I'm 40) so there'll be a big gap if it does happen. Desperately trying not to get excited - in fact terrified!

BigBird · 09/05/2004 19:30

cab - a positive is a positive is a positive !! Congrats !!!

And WOW smellymelly. Thats amazing. Good luck next week.
