It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

Hi Toothache. Started to bleed just before going to docs. Explained about the odd test results etc. She asked me to give her a sample and me - who can usually pee for Britain couldn't do a thing. (Told her I had done one that morning - Clear Blue, negative. Also showed her the Boots positive.). She said she reckoned it was an early miscarriage.
Next morning she phoned, said had contacted the epu, who thought it was a biochemical pregnancy therefore wouldn't even do a scan!
She may be right as bleeding has now stopped (just) and was nothing like my last miscarriage -not even as long as my normal period.
Sorry for gory details!

BigBird · 19/05/2004 13:11

so sorry cab hope your time will come soon

cab · 19/05/2004 13:23

Thanks bigbird and toothache - tbh had given up hope of ever getting pregnant again and was definitely ready to move on with life (41 this year).
Now of course they've offered me various blood tests etc, but not sure I want to put our family through all of that.
Have told husband that come Christmas at the latest the scissors are coming out :0.
Feel very lucky that I've already got one wee gorgeous dd.

smellymelly · 19/05/2004 14:45

Cab - I'm so sorry about your news. How unfair.

I have been feeling so sick, but I think these ginger capsules have actually helped the last couple of days. I can actually get of the sofa now. Even managed to drive somewhere yesterday!!

My tummy is quite bloated, I look 4 months gone, and I can't lie on my front already! I have a fibroid which grows when I'm pregnant, so that adds to my size. It is hard when I feel and look pregnant not to tell everyone. DP has told all his friends already!

Have fun in th US Tex111, are you visiting family?

Cab -

Wid · 19/05/2004 16:08

Cab - really sorry - it's my biggest fear, having tried for so long. 3 friends of mine have had a m/c in the last 6 months.

BigBird - I'm feeling really uncomfortable around my middle also and wondering whether I should feel this way so early. Only mildly queasy, so far.

Tex111 · 19/05/2004 17:45

Cab, I'm so sorry. You should definitely do something really nice for yourself and have a lovely weekend. I've heard that after a miscarriage a woman often has very high fertility. Do you think you'll try again? Best of luck to you.

Jimjams · 19/05/2004 17:55

Sorry to hear that cab I had one of those- and got pregnant with ds1 2 months later (actually got pregnant th ds2 2 months after a m/c as well!). DOn't give up just yet (although I can completely understand why you may not want to do the tests etc).

Tex111 · 19/05/2004 17:58

I've been feeling quite big around my middle too but I looked it up in What to Expect and they say it's usually just 'bowel distention' (lovely) at this stage due to being less regular. I do feel bigger and when I went shopping this week I couldn't even look at anything fitted. Would be a total waste of time already as I know I'll outgrow it in a few weeks.

Smelly, I had a fibroid with DS and I'm interested to see if it grows again with this pregnancy. They think it outgrew its blood supply and died late in the pregnancy when I had some excrutiating pains. Something I'll definitely be asking about at the scan. Does yours cause you any problems?

We're going to Texas for my sister's university graduation and to visit friends. They just bought a new house and I know I'm going to be green with envy! Four bedrooms, huge playroom, study, pool, 4 acres of land, etc, etc and for less than our little Victorian terrace! Oh well, just one of those trade-offs. I plan to shop my backside off and eat for England! Lots of Mexican food but will make sure my margaritas are all virgin

BigBird · 23/05/2004 12:31

How is everyone ?
Tex, enjoy your holiday...I am off this weekend for 2 weeks in the sun !

I was feeling quite queasy last week and yesterday and today it's gone. Is that a worrying sign or should I just be happy I'm feeling ok ? Can't believe i'm wishing for mornign sickness !

smellymelly · 23/05/2004 14:49

Hello, I wrote a really long message yesterday, and then promptly lost it. So here is the shortened version...

Stayed on our boat over the weekend, and it has really helped my nausea, I normally get sea-sickness, but felt much better!! Expected it to come back with a vengeance on Mon morning, but still feel ok...

I know what you mean Bigbird - I have little moments of worry, but they say all pregnancy's are different. I have still been sick a couple of times, but I can cope with that!

Enjoy your holiday Bigbird....

we are planning to spend every weekend on the boat from now on!!

pollyanna · 23/05/2004 15:01

Hi everyone. I will have to get a boat because I feel awful!! nauseaus all the time and really tired. feeling v sorry for myself as I recently gave up work to look after my 3 other children and now feel too tired to even be nice to them.

Have gone off preggie pops.

only remedy is eating toast alot and going to bed at 9pm every night. My dh is being a star doing everything for me.

(sorry to be so whingy!! like Bigbird, on the occasions where I don't feel sick, I am then paranoid that something is going wrong).

btw smellymelly, congrats on your twins!!

smellymelly · 23/05/2004 15:16

Thanks Pollyanna - Glad I'm not the only one who will have 4, although I wasn't expecting to get 4 quite so quickly!!

Its really hard when the time we can't tell anyone is when we feel the worst, and can't explain to people why we feel so shitty! But happy too!!!

How old are your other children???

OP posts:
pollyanna · 23/05/2004 15:21

they will be nearly 6, 4 and 22 months. No 4 is extremely unplanned!! I probably won't have a scan until I'm 14 weeks or so - I'm quite anxious in case I'm having twins too! I don't think I could cope with 5. (not that there's any reason to think it would be twins really).

How old are your others smelly?

smellymelly · 23/05/2004 15:27

ds is 4.5, and dd is 19mths.

At least we get it all over and done with!!!

Dp only wanted 3, and I wanted 4, so we sort of both got what we wanted, as the only reasons he wanted 3, were because of the time scale involved, and he was worried about me going through 4 pregnancies, coz of my SPD!! Bless him.

We are worried about coping, but I guess you just do?? I did the 1st 2 on my own, so I'm sure we can do this!

OP posts:
pollyanna · 23/05/2004 15:35

My dd1 was about 2 and a half when dd2 was born. You do manage of course - but I did find it hard - my ds wasn't at school then, so I had 3 at home. I had thought I might have a 4th when dd2 was at nursery (ie in 2 years time!), but dh didn't really want anymore children. Oh well! (he's very enthusiastic now though - even went to look at huge people carriers at the weekend!)

(sorry smellymelly, what's SPD?)

smellymelly · 23/05/2004 17:24

spd is - symphysis pubis dysfunction. Which causes pain around your pubic bone area, not nice! I got it from 4 months last pregnancy, and I'm expecting it to be more painful with this one as I heard it gets worse each time, and must be worse with carrying 2.

OP posts:
pollyanna · 23/05/2004 20:29

Oh yes - poor you, a friend of mine had that, and she was in agony, couldn't walk anywhere. Hope it doesn't hit you this time! Do you have anyone to help you if it does? It must be nearly impossible to manage to look after the others if you are in so much pain/movement is limited.

Schmozer · 23/05/2004 22:17

Hello, can I join in? Got my BFP about an hour ago According to my Sheila Kitzinger book my EDD is 22 January. Am very overexcited as this will be my first, so looking forward to getting lots of advice from the old hands!

pollyanna · 23/05/2004 22:21

Hello! Congratulations!! welcome to this thread. I'm due on 1st January (I think) - with, gulp, my 4th!! I wish I'd discovered mn when I was first pregnant - I think this will be very helpful and supportive to us all.
How are you feeling?

Jimjams · 23/05/2004 22:46

bigbird- my quesiness is coming and going. I think tis a sign that I;m very busy (I never get sick when I'm pregnant- just feel a bit greewn so its less noticeable when I'm running around).

OTOH 2 people have now asked me if I;m pregnant- not people I know very well either. I'm not even 8 weeks FGS! I do look ridiculous though!

Schmozer · 24/05/2004 11:26

Thanks, Pollyanna. I'm feeling fine, just overexcited and a bit incredulous! No nausea yet, but it might be a bit early for that, and not too tired either - in fact the excitement has given me lots of energy, which I'm going to make the most of as I'm sure it won't last!

smellymelly · 24/05/2004 11:55

Welcome schmozer - May you have a trouble free pregnancy.

Make the most of your 1st one, it was by far the easiest of my pregnancy's, and no other toddlers to look after at the same time as throwing up!!!

OP posts:
BigBird · 24/05/2004 12:28

Hey welcome schmozer and congrats !!

Jimjams....I'm "rounding out" too, way earlier this time than last!! I'm trying to concentrate on feeling queasy (what am I like) but I'm not really getting it ! Am feeling very hungry though so maybe thats a positive sign ! Am seeing GP again on Friday to do routine bloods etc before my gynae apt.
I have only told one person (my sis) so far (apart from DH and GP!) and intend to keep it like that for a while anyhow. Am steering clear of any pub nights out, made easier cos we're away the next 2 weeks. Poor dh will have no-one to share a bottle of wine with every night -

AbbiApple · 24/05/2004 12:40
