It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

Hi folks - I just come on this thread from time to time. I'm 28 weeks gone, due 23rd January and fed up trying not to wee myself each time I sneeze or cough (second pregnancy soon after first so things a tad slack down there)

Other than that feeling fine and looking forward to getting excited with everyone else on here!

Hi Pagan - I know how you feel about the coughing, I have had a chest infection for over 6 weeks now, and it is putting a bit of a strain on the pelvic floor muscles!!

Welcome Mellily - I'm having twins and I have bought a new Cosatto twin (pixie -I think) pushchair, as it is very narrow, only 73cm. Not sure how good it is yet though. And just got today, a twin Easylife all terrain pushchair, which I got 2nd hand from eBay. Not actually sure you can still get these new.

We also looked at the twin McClaren, and mamas and papas, which all looked good too. But the cosatto was much cheaper.

Pagan so nice to see someone else who is getting excited i though i was the only one. Most seem to be having a tough time of it and don't post much anymore.

Mellily good to have you here, hope things are going well for you and your bump!

Hello smellymelly, fufmum & mellily

My second will be pretty close at 16 months in between them. I bought a Maclaren Rally Twin from Ebay after asking advice on MN. I thought I might be able to do without but realise that was a daft notion coz of the age gap.

It was a real bargain all the same, perfect condition, delivered to my door for £70 less than new in the shops.

I had another scan on Monday (they just wanted to check the baby was growing I'm told I'm quite neat) and all is well. For a change I could actually make out the various bits and pieces.

Pagan- glad to hear the scan went well and everything is fine

My baby boy is getting quite an expert at giving me some major kicks at night now. I am sure he is still doing somersaults too as one minute they are high and on one side then i get them low and over the other! I was 30 weeks yesterday so now i am definately on countdown. 6 weeks left at work and then i go home to my mums

I felt a bit sicky this morning and though i may throw up but i had something to eat and gelt better, god i hope this isn't morning sickness coming back!!

Anyway hope everyone is feeling well and had a good weekend!

Hi ladies!

Well I spent Sat night in Hospital, in agony! Babies are on a nerve I think, and the pain at the top of my tummy became unbearable... I'm now on paracetamol and codeine.

I am so looking forward to them being here, only 5 weeks to go now.

Have another scan on Wed, I think they are both head down, but they need to stay that way now.

I'm all ready for them, everything is washed and packed or put away in their room, moses baskets are ready, and I am so looking forward to seeing what they look like... Still find it hard to believe we are having 2!

xx

Hi SM, sorry to hear you were in hospital over the weekend, I hope you have got some relief for the pain now. 5 weeks to go! My god, how quick did that eventually come around!

I went shopping for hours yesterday filling up my hospital bag, had no idea there was so much stuff to take with! It's fab packing all the tiny scratch mits and baby vests...not so good packing the Femme Pads, breast sheilds and huge maternity pads

I've been reading about raspberry leaf tea helping with labour so I'll be adding that to my list by week 32 as well!

Fufmum, you and I are on exactly the same date and I had some nausea yesterday, my evening meal was pitta bread, taramosolata and mince pies...how strange is that!

Pagan, know exactly what you mean about the coughing, I started choking on an orange two nights ago and practically peed myself, absolutely horrified!

Have started my maternity leave and seem to be doing far more than I did before, can't seem to slow down for a minute. Am also spending like I won the lottery, obviously boredom. DP has insisted on taking over the food shopping after last nights tea (!) so I can't even do that to while away the hours. Hey ho, Christmas TV will be kicking in soon so I can cry buckets to Miracle on 42nd Street!

Hope you are all well - joe

Hi ladies

Ok so i am much happier now. I just got back from seeing MW at hospital and she listen to the baby's heart beat so i could hear it too, not with the caveman apparatus! And she measured me(for the first time) i was 33cm, she seemed to think this was ok so i was fine with it too. She also told me which way baby is laying, my GP told me it was too early to tell!!
Anyway we are both very well and fighting fit so i am having a great day. Apart from the scans, it's the best thing hearing my baby boy's heart beating away like a train

Joe what on earth are you spending money on now, you bad girl??

I am going to Bluewater on sunday for an outfit for myself as i have no maternity clothes shops near me and have a friends 30th birthday coming up. Could do without going but not alot of choice, not sure she would be too impressed if i turned up in my jog pants, ha ha, which is all i can fit into these days

SM you poor thing sorry to hear about your tough time in hospital, hope the scan is ok!

Hello there,

Just a quick one as in need of reassurance but in work...is there anyone else who is still commuting into/out of London a few days a week? Am finding the crowds very very scary, nearly got hit by a moped today, should I just leave work now?

Hope you are all doing ok, haven't read updates yet so will write more later
xx Batlady

Hi Batlady

I'd say it is completely down to personal preference. I know a lot of people aren't in the fortunate situation that I am in but I am already on maternity leave at 30 weeks. I am fortunate in that I don't normally have to commute but last week had to commute to Islington for 3 days and I was under so much stress worried about the bump and personal safety that I really don't think I'd do it again.

If you can afford to take the time off now then, if I were you, I would. You sound a little like me in terms of your protectiveness towards your bump and feeling the fragility of the new life growing inside you...if you can, leave now. The commuting probably won't do you any harm at all, but the fear and stress it is causing you might just have a detrimental effect.

Hope this helps - Joe x

Hi Batlady, I don't have to commute but I do work in a large primary school and the corridors are suddenly causing me a lot of stress. Small children are very much 'bump height'and only have one speed - supersonic! I have also contemplated finishing early, decisions eh? I'm trying to weigh up the possibility of being thumped in the stomach with the lack of money caused by leaving work early! Hope you make a decision you're happy with,I tend to agree with artyjoe, the stress this is causing you is probably best avoided, after all, a moped is a lot harder than a small child

Batlady do whatever makes you happy is what i say. You are lucky you can choose, i really have to stay in my job until as late as possible as i am a nanny and i have no-one who can cover me just like that. I probably won't take too long off for mat leave in the end as i have to try and get back to work ASAP. My bosses have been brilliant and so i can't really ask for much more.

Smelly melly let us know how your scan went yesterday hope it was all good!

My ante-natal classes start soon has anyone else started theirs yet? I have no idea what to expect, i have booked for mums only classes in daytime as i am single and the thought of couples everywhere isn't appealing!
MW told me last week that they are cutting down on some classes(evening ones i thnk) have heard this is happening at a few hospitals so it might be worth checking out ladies!

My antenatal classes start on 24th November, 4 in all, at my doctors in the afternoon. I couldn't get to the couples ones at the hospital as apparently they booked up months ago. hey ho, so long as they show me how to breath and change a nappy that's enough

Nappies i am a master at, it's the whole labour thing i need info on. A bit more knowledge on contrctions would help too, not that i'm getting nervous now or anything much!

Hello! everyone. I haven't been told anything about Anti natel classes yet. Not a sausage. I'm starting to think i've been forgotten. But this is my second time so could that be why do you think?

Report
fufmum · 11/11/2004 18:26

hi Tasha, i think you need to call the hospital or speak to your midwife as you have to book them they don't do it for you. If you are due in Jan then you may find all the classes are booked up but you never know give them a try and see, good luck!

Pagan · 11/11/2004 19:15

This is my second so not bothering with antenatal classes. In fact I only went to one the first time and found it a bit condescending so didn't bother going back. It was like it was aimed at 14 year olds getting their first facts of life lecture. Don't know how others have found them.

My ante-natal classes have finished already!! This is my 3rd time, but I like going to meet other Mums.

My scan was great thanks, Fufmum. Babies are growing very well.... about 4lbs each!! And are both head down.

And I have AN INDUCTION DATE....Tues 14th Dec.

I can know count down properly, and although I'm really looking forward to having them here, I am now making the most of being pregnant for the last time, and trying to get through the pain and discomfort, with positive thinking!

Artyjoe and Fufmum, how is your nausea? I threw up the other night again for no apparent reason, but I'm ok now.

WOW SM that's great, OMG not long to go now!!
4lbs each? Brilliant, they will be good sizes by the time you have them then.
My sickness comes and goes, i was awake this morning at 5am, just wide awake and couldn't get back to sleep for about an hour with stomach ache. You all know how it is i'm sure, not being able to find a comfy spot. But i did eventually fall back and feel ok this morning.

I am a little stressed at the min but nothing major, just stuff, iykwim. Apart from that i am a happy bunny with a happy monkey kicking around inside!

Hi SM

My nausea has stopped but was balling my eyes out in self pity last night! Baby turned in a strange way and then really hurt me all evening, my pelvis was brutally sore, couldn't walk properly, bile at back of throat, swollen ankles and dreadful restless legs...got the better of me by 9pm and the tears started to roll! Feel very guilty as it was complete self pity at a time when I've been given the most important gift in my life, doesn't stop me from feeling atrocious though and I have to remember am only human, but still, am okay today.

Congratulations on your induction date, you will have a magical christmas this year!

Hope everyone is okay - Joe

hi everyone, I haven't been on here for a while as we got burgled and the computer got taken. That added to my stress levels rather (dd1 aged 4 told me she thinks about the burglar every day) and from a completely non interventionist pregnancy I am permanently at the hospital. I now have high blood pressure (from queuing for hours at the hospital no doubt), possible diabetes and am anaemic. What fun!

fufmum I was at blue water yesterday too - i spent about 4 hours waddling around, trying to get all of my Christmas shopping. (if you saw me, I was the one exposing my bra permanently).

Smelly, glad you have got a due date - I have told my bump that she better arrive on the 18th December as that would be more convenient than 1st January, and have started to take raspberry tea to help things along.

Awww pollyanna so sorry to hear your news that's terrible! And for your DD to say she thinks of it all the time, evil people. They really don't care what they do to people's lives do they!

I saw LOADS of pregnant women in Bluewater yesterday, must be because of the maternity clothing places! I was wearing all black with a white shirt collar on my top and was by myself if you saw me!

I managed to get an outfit and got some great jeans from maternity section in dorothy perkins! My feet were killing me in the end though so trundled off back to the car with no lunch, i just wanted to go home.

I am really looking forward to this night out on saturday as it's the only one i've had since being pregnant. I am not with a partner and mates tend to not ask you out for a night out on the town when they find out your pregnant. I will be like i caged animal set free, i don't care about alcohol (well maybe a little[wink) i just can't wait to be with a group of adults out having a nice time! how sad is that?lol

Have a good week everyone!
