Great news on the house Brixton - hope you find a more reasonable plasterer :-)

Thanks re wardrobes - waiting for our guy to come back with more detailed quote. Is yours for a wardrobe with one rail and a few shelves? I've asked for loads of shelves and drawers as it's for kids' rooms which I expect puts the price up as more work involved. But thanks again I will let you know.

Sorry to everyone feeling unwell, good work on getting it checked out Penguin you are in good hands try not to worry.

Boo - perhaps they are just crap at communicating ie they didn't move the scan bc it wasn't necessary? If in doubt ask more questions to help your mind at rest.

Have been an epic pig this evening eating deep fried mac and cheese, risotto balls and calzone and pizza with a friend. Poor baby must be very squashed in there. I have solemnly promised him I will reform tomorrow.

daholster · 09/02/2015 23:02

Oh cinammon don't sit up and cry Sad Flowers I often think you sound like one of the strongest women on this board and I don't want to imagine you sad like that.

Like you said its because he has been drinking, not because he doesn't love you or want the best for your little family - the bump will be a wonderful addition for your boys and all the hard work will be worth it. Life is bumps of ups and downs... Its just a little down, thats all. Try to have a good sleep and everything will seem better in the morning.

PenguinPoser · 09/02/2015 23:44

Ah what a day we have all had. Boo is your scan this thurs or next week? Next week seems a long time to be worrying but as others have said hopefully they would have moved it forward if they thought necessary.

Brew for you cinnamon it's awful when you argue and even more so when alcohol is involved - always makes things worse I think than they otherwise would have been. I think you will cope better than you think with new baby as well as your other DS's and commitments. Please don't sit up being upset, maybe have a nice cuppa and a bath or something to relax and get some rest.

smogs you made me Smile with your promise of reformation to your baby! Your food sounds amazing.

Fingers crossed for some better sleep tonight before hospital again in the morning. Need to forget about the itching cos thinking about it makes it worse! Night all.

daholster · 10/02/2015 00:27

Night penguin.

As it turns out its me crying in bed! Dh is snoring. First off dh has been told that he is too expensive for the client now on the project he has been on for the past 3 years, which means he will have to move onto a new project which is based in London/Edinburgh. He will likely have to work away in the week and said he's never going to see the little one. When I said he should quit in favour of a local job which pays half the money and we would manage he said "well you won't stop spending it". I felt that was unfair.. we can afford the lifestyle we have. If we couldn't I wouldn't spend it. Then he said she'd have to switch out of the best nursery to a cheaper one etc etc. So anyway looks like I might have a dh who is never here and resents everything about it and won't change and I'll be like a single mum in the week. That would just f***g suck. Its not at all what we imagined.

Also then I got awful pain round my stoma when getting ready for bed. I could hardly bend, had to keep stopping for the pain. Massage and lying down has helped a bit but it's not right. I think I've made a terrible error and had a huge jacket potato with skin for tea. Not only that but I forgot to chew chew chew. May be on course for my first pregnancy obstruction. The waves of pain make me cry more. I'm so stupid!!! What a loser. And dh us snoring and I just feel furious Sad

daholster · 10/02/2015 06:37

After some massage and a few pop feelings from my stoma tummy feels better this am til I stand and its sore. Long day on duty today, not in the mood, and I'm soooo sleepy!

Good luck today penguin..

PenguinPoser · 10/02/2015 06:49

Thanks daholster. Oh no you poor thing what a bombshell to have dropped on you! Of course it's not what you imagined. Would the working away be a long term thing? I think in your position I would say less money and more time together is more important too. Difficulty is you do get used to the lifestyle you have when you have the money there to spend, but that doesn't mean you can't survive on less - comfortably. My DH would love a higher paying job but in his field it would mean shift work etc and I would just rather he has the lesser paid job and more time together as long as we are comfortable. Maybe when I work part time it will be less of an issue - we'll see. But hope your day isn't too busy. I feel your pain. I'm on duty fri morning and already dreading it!

Hope everyone is ok today Brew

Wineandchoccy · 10/02/2015 07:30

I hope things are better this morning in the cinnamon household, alcohol sucks!

daholster that sounds rubbish about your DH job. I hope the pain with your stoma stays away as well.

I have a busy week it's my 31 week midwife appt and whooping cough vaccination this morning, antenatal class tonight, aquanatal tomorrow night, tour of birthing centre Thursday night and we are out for a friends birthday on Friday night. All that and work as well, I just want to put my pjs on and crawl into bed Grin

I packed my hospital bag last night and made a list of things to buy and things like chargers that need to go in at last minute. It feels very real now there is a bag ready and waiting to go!

Oh ladies, I hope things are better this morning.

Whooping cough jab this morning - at least I get a little lie in!

AnniaFausta · 10/02/2015 08:00

Is it just me, or is everyone else getting super-sensitive to background noise around bedtime? It's only happened in the last few days, but suddenly every background electronic hum and clunk of the central heating has me bolt upright and panicking, and it's taking a lot longer to settle down and drift off. I think I'm going to have to invest in earplugs at this rate.

Roast, good luck with the move!

Oh, cinnamon and daholster, sounds like you both went through the wringer last night - glad you're feeling a bit better, daholster, and I hope DH has wanted to make friends now he's woken up more sober, cinnamon. Brew

My DH admitted last night that he's finding the new job rather more difficult to settle into than he'd been hoping (he started in October). Could do without him being frustrated and fed up at work at the moment, but he's decided that if he gets to 18 months and still feels fed up, it'll be time to move on, so at least there's a plan. And after that we managed to decide when to go and look at some nurseries, which was another tiny step forward.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/02/2015 08:25

That sucks about the job daholster, I agree about practically writing it down or could Dh not renegotiate and reduce his fee on the project closer to home?

I had terrible restless leg when I went to bed and the crying along with my cold had totally bunged me up so I woke Dh up, he moved to the sofa. Ds2 was up at 2 and Dh came back to bed, he cuddled me lots but I still couldn't get back to sleep because of my stupid legs! He apologised this morning but I feel things are a bit strained between us just because we haven't had a lot of time together and we both have a lot of pressure on us from various areas. He always gets annoyed about governors meetings despite them being once a term! Will try to spend a bit more quality time together and hope that improves things, he's off Thursday for my hospital appointment so that will help hopefully. So many thing to worry about!

Lauren82000 · 10/02/2015 08:41

Sorry about the job Daholster, try to keep positive and these things have a way of working themselves out. Once the baby comes and he realises what he could be missing out on it might light a fire under his bum to find something more local.

Glad things are a little bit better Cinnamon, but maybe it's time to sit down and re prioritise some time for the 2 of you. Do you have a date night? That might be a good way to go about it, we started off with ours once a month, it has admittedly fallen by the wayside since I've been getting bigger and can't be bothered, but it's a great way to just have some time to yourselves child free. Smile It's worth giving it a go even if it doesn't end up working for you at least you get a nice couple of meals out of it. Wink

cinnamon he's not a contractor, his fee is billed by his company so he has no choice what they charge for him. He also has no choice where they send him. He's very good at his job and so he is useful to them. He could probaby negotiate more money before he could negotiate which project he is on. The money isn't important. It's a big company, he's well paid and to be fair a 50% cut in salary would be amassivw impact, I'd probably have to return to work full time. Who knows. I keep having to try not to cry between clients this morning, good grief!!!

Siarie · 10/02/2015 09:01

Wow loads to catch up on, my antenatal class with DH was really quite interesting yesterday evening. Looking forward to next week where we will be watching birth videos and discussing birth.

So quote a few seem to be having a bit of a hard time with various things. doesnt sound like much fun, but maybe try and focus on all the good things today? We all have a lot of hormones pumping through us right now and they aren't the best tools for reason and logic.

With regards to spending time together that's super important. making time for that is key and can be done with children, you just have to plan.

RL20 · 10/02/2015 09:20

Morning everyone. Just woke up after a night of broken sleep, mainly due to the cat wanting to rearrange the kitchen at 3.30am, leaving me to not be able to get back to sleep until after my partner had left for work at 6am!

Siarie I just had to post, do we really have to watch birth videos in the antenatal classes?! ??
I'm due to start a course in early March when I go on maternity leave, which I'm looking forward to. I'll be going on my own as my partner will be working, and I'd much rather he work now as we need the money, he would have to take whole days off for the hour and a half classes.
I'm not sure I really want to see actual births?! I've avoided all programmes that they have on TV to do with birth! ??

RL20 · 10/02/2015 09:25

Annia I can sort of relate, luckily at the moment I can pretty much fall sleep straight away at night, but I just wake up a lot during. Last night I went to the toilet and as I walked through the kitchen past the fridge, the humming sound really freaked me out and seemed louder than normal!
About half an hour later I woke again to the cat messing around in the kitchen - he had managed to fling his bowls to the other side of the kitchen and get his water and bits of food everywhere?! My partner didn't wake to any of this! Rubbish nights sleep last night!

Squidge14 · 10/02/2015 09:42

Morning all, sorry there were so many rough nights Sad hope you can both get things sorted cinnamon and daholster and penguin well done for getting checked out, at least they are dealing with it now fingers crossed for you!

Nunkie Hi!! to be honest I'm very lucky my mum helps me with the horses so I rarely have to do it alone (maybe twice a week) they are on DIY but we have someone that helps us a couple of days a week so that takes the pressure off! I'm finding it ok so far, not as much energy and mucking out can take a lot longer than it used to and I'm finally realising I can't chuck sacks of feed around anymore, I was almost defeated by a bag of sugarbeet for the first time last week Grin I am missing riding so much though I made my mum ride my 6yo at the weekend because he is getting so bored and he was an angel, I was green with envy! not looking forward to next winter with a baby and 2 horses to sort, although I will at least be on mat leave so maybe it won't be so bad...here's to hoping!

Squidge14 · 10/02/2015 09:46

I meant to say in my last message I went to a baby basics class last night run by the NHS and it was really good and useful, so recommend them to anyone that was worried about dealing with a newborn. I personally didn't want to go down the NCT route because I think it is more of a social thing which I'm not looking for I have a great network of friends and family with babies and young children to keep me occupied!

I learnt quite a lot and had all of my questions answered I had been worried about, so success!! Looking forward to Wednesdays class about birth and labour!

Heyitsholly · 10/02/2015 09:53

Did anyone else get ill after the whooping cough?
I had the jab on friday, had a bit of a runny nose at the weekend and admittedly overdid it in edinburgh (but had a lovely time)
However yesterday i got hot flushes at work and today my vision is a bit dodgy with my ongoing cough and runny nose.
Totally freaking myself out that i have pre eclampsia instead of a normal cold.
Thinking about calling the doctors to see if i can see the midwife or calling the antenatal unit. And then the other side of me is just saying i have a cold and are run down stop being a drama queen and do your work. Confused

Nunkie · 10/02/2015 10:01

Squidge you are a woman of iron - tho it must help to have an extra set of family hands! Are you bracing for everything to get even horsier when the new arrival invariably grows up to be horse mad!!? :0D (what i remember being particularly tiring was lugging around full, wet hay-nets! :0). How long have you been out of the saddle for.. ? I'm not surprised its driving you mad watching other people ride!

I am sorry to hear you had a crappy evenings, Daholster and Cinnamon. Daholster, it sounds like a tricky situ, but I'm sure you guys will be able to talk it out a bit today, or at the weekend when you are both less tired.

And Cinnamon, well, now he's not drunk any more he'll probably realise he was being unreasonable. Why on earth would he get annoyed at you going to meetings, ffs? He should be proud that you're an active member of the school. If all else fails.. vent by going for a run. The cure-all! :0D

The strange things we fall out over, sometimes! Myself and DP don't tend to argue much, but when we do, it's always over something effing stupid. The sell-by date on Penang Curry Paste was one particularly memorable one, I kid you not. The other day it was about how to stop Siri setting more than one alarm. Honestly. First world problems.
And no alcohol involved, so we didn't even have that excuse!

I suppose before long we'll be falling out over whether i've put the baby's nappy on back-to-front.. :0)

Nunkie · 10/02/2015 10:02

(... which, i should add, i probably will have done! Blush )

Nunkie · 10/02/2015 10:15

Hey, Holly - sounds totally like a regular pregnancy-cold to me: i.e: notably unpleasant, with bizarre side-effects! (I threw up and passed out at the same time over christmas when i caught what should have been a fairly harmless bug)

Also, shouldn't you have swollen hands/feet for pre-eclampsia?
I've also heard your vision can go a bit dicey during pregnancy anyway.

Still, won't hurt to call the midwife, if you're worried! She'll be able to reassure you :0)

Lauren82000 · 10/02/2015 10:29

Yup vision does go a bit odd at times it can be about blood pressure or fluid levels in your body. I'm off to the opticians tonight for my contact lens check. I've been teetering on going up to the next strength for the last 2 visits so let's see if pregnancy has sent me over and I can get some new ones. I very nearly forgot my glasses this morning but luckily I remembered on my way out of the door and went back for them. (Could of been embarrassing turning up and being blind after the test.Blush)

Really need to put away the chocolate raisins. I've eaten more than 3/4 of a 200g bag in the last 10 mins. Shock They are so addictive, but at least they can count towards one of my 5 a day. Wink

Squidge14 · 10/02/2015 10:39

nunkie wet haynets or filling a weeks worth in one day are the worst! I stopped riding properly after about 18 weeks, my mum had my farrier take their shoes off and everything Sad although I will admit I did have a sneaky ride on my older boy a couple of weeks ago only for 10 minutes in the school but it was lovely to have a little canter about and he always looks after me anyway! I did struggle massively heaving getting myself on-board, silly me thought I could just hop on from the floor like I always do Hmm needless to say I kept this fact from OH who would have had a massive heart attack!! I can't wait for LO to be old enough for a pony, I've already been sussing out a few nice looking lead rein ponies and been told by my instructor when they are 4 they can start having proper lessons Grin

Anyone starving, like, all the time? I have a bag full of goodies at my desk and I want them all at once!
