How weird. She just gave me mine and I filled it in and sent it off.

A question - those who have had their booking in appointments. Were you told to make a second appointment with the midwife at 16 weeks? I can't remember how it worked with my son but either the appointment was made at booking in, for the next, or it was generated by post.

I'm going to have to put a prompt on my phone I think as I just know I'll forget otherwise. In fact she said lots of things very quickly that I was just meant to remember. It hurt my head.

Mummyboo30 · 02/02/2015 14:10

Great news Mrsdos look forward to seeing the picture later!

My free prescription form was in my pack of notes from the midwife too. Must remember to fill that out soon.

DH birthday today, he requested steak for dinner. Going to have to ruin a perfectly good ribeye and cook it well done. :(

nutelladipper · 02/02/2015 14:19

i didn't get my exemption form at booking in - i vaguely remember thinking the same last time but must of got it at some point.

sebs i made my 16 week appointment at the booking in. I assume it varies around the country though. my last pregnancy i had to ring after my scan to make it so in my town the midwives do it differently.

has anyone had to get a letter to say you're fit to fly before? I go on holiday and fly home when i'm 29 weeks so the airline say i'll need a letter - do i go to midwife or GP? Is it something that can be done at an appointment or should i allow a few weeks to sort?

xx

sebsmummy1 · 02/02/2015 14:20

I had a mouthful of my partner's rare ribeye yesterday and it was bloody gorgeous!! Some food rules in sticking to, some I have to admit I'm not so strict on.

lovesmycake · 02/02/2015 14:24

I had a fit to fly here in Norway and she just wrote it in the appointment. Literally just a letter saying I was fit to fly that was at 34 weeks and no-one even asked for it when I checked in?

NatalieBee · 02/02/2015 14:33

Sebs I've just to book my own 16week appointment :) I'll be 16 weeks in 6 weeks so a bit soon, I'll probably do it in a few weeks :)

nutelladipper · 02/02/2015 14:34

Thanks lovesmycake

Glad to hear everyone's doing well wish I could see your scan pics but I can't on this app don't know why?
I still feel fine am I pregnant? It's weird I sometimes feel a bit tired boobs sometimes sore it'll hit me next week I bet!
Just been to aquafit and I really enjoyed it really had to force myself tho! But so glad I went and it wasn't just full of grannies was starving when I got home tho so I've had coco pops! And I've drank the milk I have never ever done that I normally just leave it in the bowl...... Odd!
Regarding letter for flying they just need a headed piece of paper from your surgery to say you are fit and well to fly, I will need one to go in ferry in the summer as it's overnight crossing they will not let you travel passed 34 weeks I think ill just make it in time to be able to go! I'm not due till the very end of September prob October knowing me. Grin

monkeymoonpig · 02/02/2015 14:45

Think i just book with normal antenatal clinic for 16wks, they are on a Friday morning at my gp surgery which is quite good.

shinjuku09 · 02/02/2015 15:29

I just called my gp last time for a Fit to Fly letter. Don't think I had to go to an appointment but did have to pay. Wasn't asked for it, bump was still non existent!

shinjuku09 · 02/02/2015 15:33

Just read on NHS website scans are offered between 8-12 weeks depending on area. 8 seems very early as lots of people pay for early scans round then! The earliest I'd heard was ten. Now I've read that I'm tempted again to pay for an early at eight or nine having been put off by quite a few threads about miscarriages between then and twelve weeks. But I guess whatever you Google/Mumsnet you'll read all about the minority of negative experiences and keep trying to remind myself you're never out the woods til the baby is here!

shinjuku09 · 02/02/2015 15:36

An unexpected bonus of taking to my bed ill - I can finally keep up to date with this thread for a few days Grin

mrsdos · 02/02/2015 15:36

Here is babydos!
I am putting off walking down to our gp surgery to ask about my mw appointment next week (the other half of booking in) as I am worried that I will be 12+2 by then and as yet I don't have a scan date. I am in there so often at the moment I have a feeling they may just point to the door before speaking to me!

At my booking the midwife said to book another appointment at reception before I left. When I went to reception she asked me when I was to make my next appointment for. I said I didn't know, the midwife hadn't said. So much confusion! So the receptionist just gave me another one for 6 weeks time. I'll probably be 13 weeks by then. But I've also been referred to the home birth team who will contact me to see them at some point too.

TerrysNo3 · 02/02/2015 15:59

Jackie nice to know there is a fellow home birther on here! Have you had a hb before? I tried with DS but he was back to back and painful so I was transferred in but I had a beautiful drug free hb with DD so I'm hoping for that again.

DeladionInch · 02/02/2015 16:41

my house is impractical for HB but I'll be going to the lovely local mlu instead Smile

DefinitelyNotElsa · 02/02/2015 17:45

Reading this thread really cheers me up from my nauseated, tired state!

I went to the EPU today. Had cramps on and off since BFP, and although they have improved since having a UTI and course of antibiotics last week, they're still happening. The EPU was amazing - had urine and blood tests, was examined and out within an hour. Now to wait for the results - will need either another blood test or a scan depending on the results. Get them in the morning.

Fingers crossed for me pleased lovelies.

ag123 · 02/02/2015 18:03

Got to do bins, iron a shirt, start dinner but can...not...move...off...sofa! Arrrg! DS watching far too much cbeebies at present Blush
Anyone else having moments where they're literally struggling to move? (9+2/3)

Jackieharris · 02/02/2015 18:05

terrysnumber3

I have had a hb before but I'm undecided about having one this time, although the consultant thinks it's best for me given my medical anxieties. So they've booked me with that team with the option of changing my mind later if I want.

deladioninch you don't need a fancy house to have a hb, have you discussed it with your mw? I had one in a small flat last time.

Lauramum23 · 02/02/2015 18:33

You lucky things having home births, or even birth pools I wish I could, I've always had strep b so constant monitoring and plus the fact that each time (3 times)my waters have gone but nothing happens so I end up straight on the drip to speed up contractions, I'd love to give birth in water , but I suppose it's whatever is best for baby.

alien11 · 02/02/2015 18:46

ag123 I feel the same, I'm running around constantly never stop ! Dd keeps me on my toes.determined to get her to sit still and do something for longer than 2 minutes! I'm exhausted, feel faint and have so much to do

gicharlie17 · 02/02/2015 18:58

I'm considering a HB. Will wait and speak to midwife at booking appt before I make a decision but I think I'm a low risk pregnancy. Just don't fancy being surrounded my all that medical equipment and other screaming women! The tranquility of my own home is appealing but obviously I want what is best for baby and I. I'm 9+5 today and already been asked by my GP where I'm planning on giving birth. I didn't realise these decisions had to be made so early on. Feeling good the last few days. Never had nausea but tiredness is decreasing now. Managed a whole day off today without a nap!!

Tiredstressed · 02/02/2015 19:11

Hi everyone - gosh this thread moves fast! All quiet here - no real symptoms apart from a bit of nausea and tiredness (although the tiredness could be down to work and DD!). My booking appointment is next week so hopefully things will feel more real then. Oh, I am starving but that might be the cold weather or my general greed.

Whatabout · 02/02/2015 19:14

I booked in for a home birth at my 34 week appointment last time round. Never too late to change your mind but also no point getting too hung up about it all as baby will often do what it wants. With Wilf my waters broke and then he didn't appear so I ended up with an epidural and an augmented labour. All was fine, I didn't feel overly medicalised and I breast fed immediately

I'm also having crushing tiredness too, and tonnes of discharge. The glamour.

Kittykitty05 · 02/02/2015 19:31

Off for scan in morning, how is it possible to be so excited and so worried by something at the same time! 9+6 tomorrow, so I guess I'll see if the reducing nausea is down to the placenta taking charge, or yet another mmc.
If all is well I think I'll again chase a booking appointment, and this time stand my ground more firmly against the receptionist!
