Haha apple i actually posted that pic on instagram the other day! It really is fun having a baby who uses your bladder as a trampoline!!

Could not sleep a wink last night, went to bed exhausted but my brain just didn't switch off and I just led there all night! Yay!

Hope everyone else slept better Today!!

Chookford · 30/01/2015 09:41

Morning ladies

I handed my MatB1 in yesterday too.. I can leave from April 2nd as I have 4 weeks annual leave to use before Mat leave begins but may see how I go....

It's snowing on and off here, don't think it will settle though..

bean sorry to hear your dd can't play in the snow.. That must be hard!

Sorry to hear ppl are still suffering with constipation, it really sucks doesn't it!!

leanne963 · 30/01/2015 10:19

Anyone getting super hot all of a sudden?! I usually sleep in a jumper and the covers wrapped around me cause our house can get quite cold but last night i just felt boiling, had covers off and top off. Boyfriend was complaining how cold he was! Eurgh i just feel so sweaty and hot constantly!

longestlurkerever · 30/01/2015 10:36

Leanne I am certainly hot and sweaty at work - feel quite smelly at the end of the day.

Am also fed up of my tights rolling down all the time. I managed without maternity ones with DD but think I am going to have to invest. Do they make a difference? I feel like I am just one round barrel so there is nothing to hold them up.

FeelingBlessed77 · 30/01/2015 10:37

Where in Kent are you chook. I'm in dartford and no snow here at all

SweetPeaSoup · 30/01/2015 10:42

Morning all - I'm late to the party, but due mid May with DS, who will be baby brother to DS(4). Off to find food now - it's been at least 20 mins since I last ate, so naturally I feel like I'm starving to death...

mumxof3x · 30/01/2015 10:54

Hi sweetpea :)

Crappy sleep here too, usually its ds3 keeping me up all time, but last night it was this silly cough.

Leaving for london sunday morning and ive so much to do in the house before, but so little energy lol...i want my 2 day energy burst back.

Chookford · 30/01/2015 10:56

feeling I'm in Medway, it's stopped now but sky looks full of it!

sweet congrats and welcome! Another little boy to add to the mix!

leanne963 · 30/01/2015 11:51

Longest I have H&M maternity tights but i did have to get a few sizes bigger than i would normally get and they fit really well and ive worn them so many times and no snags yet! I know some people don't like them though as they have a weird seam around the top of the legs that can dig in a bit!

Brilliant Tori! Sorry for being unnecessarily doom and gloom about it then! No harm in going to have a look. Tbh it is odd looking round nurseries with a newborn anyway - you just can't imagine them being big enough to go. But if you wait till you can imagine them being there then it's too late and the place is full.

applecore0317 · 30/01/2015 13:34

welcome Sweet :)

I tried the H&M maternity thick tights and my hand went straight through them when putting them on... My next ones don't stay up as well any more, but could't bear normal tights, always found them uncomfortable even before pregnancy. I got some from Seraphine and they are rubbish, very baggy on the tummy and slip right down

I was going to ask at what point would you start looking at nurseries? I have no idea, but guessing a lot of people put their names down before they are born

longestlurkerever · 30/01/2015 13:39

Apple - I really doubt there is any rush. With dd I started looking round nurseries after she was born but when she was still quite little because I was going back when she was about 8 months and wanted to be sure I didn't miss any options purely through being too late. Most of my friends waited till much nearer the time they were going back - esp if they planned to use a childminder as they tend not to have waiting lists as such. Some of the best nurseries near me are run by the Council though and they operate on distance criteria rather than how long you've been on the waiting list. I have put dd2's name down already only because I know where I want her to go because of my experience with dd1 and there didn't seem any reason not to, but I do feel massively over-prepared!

Turquoisetamborine · 30/01/2015 13:41

Welcome Sweetpea, we are a friendly bunch you'll find!

Tori, glad the nursery are being accommodating. I would look at it now. When are you planning on going back to work?

My childcare seems to be all sorted. Work have agreed to me changing the three days I work to Mon - Wed so I will have three different grandparents to take care of baby one day each so none of them get too exhausted. If that doesn't work out there's a great childminder round the corner who I'll use one day a week so it shouldn't cost us too much. I'm having 12 months off anyway but I like to have plans in place.
I've done a forward planner for maternity pay too so we get all the work done to the house while I'm still on full pay so we can manage without saving anything when I'm down to 0 earnings. Such a planner!

Ah that's good then, I'm taking 9 months mat leave, and dependent on what pay rise I get I may only go back to work 3 or 4 days a week, My Dad has offered to cover one day childcare, so am hoping we will only need nursery for 2 days.. 3 max :) definitely would like to opt for nursery though as there is a good one near where we are hoping to buy

Scottishgal78 · 30/01/2015 14:38

Hey all - been off the tread for a couple of days. Had a bit of bleeding so had to go for a scan and internal. Everything fine though and my low lying placenta has now moved. Haven't even started thinking about childcare. Need to have a chat with the in laws!Grin

d0ttyne11 · 30/01/2015 14:55

Hi everyone,

Quickly trying to catch up with this new thread but the picture at the top of this page says it all. I honestly need to loo every time I stand up from my desk. It's madness and getting to be a bit of a joke!

Hope you're ok Scottish. Sounds like a bit of a fright for you. Hope you've all the reassurances you need and I presume they'll monitor you more now too.

I've not thought about childcare either but I live in nappy valley and the Dr did tell me on the very first appointment to consider getting on with that so I should!! Good for you guys who have got things sorted already!! You are mega organised. I'm seeing in laws this weekend, wonder if it'll be mentioned (my MIL provides a lot of childcare at the mo for my SILs but DH and I are undecided about arrangements at the mo and whether that would be right)

Apple - try Boots for maternity tights. I have found their black opaque ones to be brilliant and have been wearing them for months now.

Turquoise - you sound so organised with both your build work and financial planner. I'm trying to work out when my income will drop off through my maternity leave so I can speak to DH about the joint account. I know it's dull but need to plan to pay cheques into my pension and stuff when I'm not at work so have to factor those exciting things in too.

I hope you all have good weekend and take it easy. My lower back is aching a bit but maybe it's the cold!! I just can't believe we've got well past half way now. 25 weeks down and 15 to go. Sounds sooooooon! X

aberjen · 30/01/2015 15:55

apple where are you? I think the nursery situation varies hugely around the country, so would suggest to ask around locally about what the waiting lists etc are like. I am South East and it's insane - DP works for a university and they have workplace nurseries. We put DD's name down when I was 4 months pg and finally got a space when she was 16 mo old. We had to sort out alternative childcare at short notice and it was a nightmare, ended up having to commute back and forth across town, completely opposite end to where we live and work. The Uni nurseries are particularly popular though as the rates are lower than the other nurseries around here, plus it comes directly out of DP's gross salary, so tax savings too. We put bump's 'name' down when I was about 8 weeks this time, and should hopefully be easier as will get sibling priority. But also means we can;'t take DD out of nursery while I am on mat leave as we would lose the place and almost certainly not get it back again for 2 years! So have to pay for FT childcare while I am on mat leave. Silver lining is she'll be having lots of fun at nursery while I am desperately trying to sleep while baby sleeps...

KittyVonCatsington · 30/01/2015 17:46

Happy Friday Ladies!!

Joining on on these valid rants...

I too have had to already think about childcare unfortunately! I will need to go back to work and as I have no parents alive on my side to help with childcare and DH's parents already have numerous other grandchildren to look after, I certainly won't be able to have them look after Kitlet 5 days a week. Therefore, We have had to already put her name down (well surname anyway!) at a nursery quickly, as they are already full until Sept 2016. Around here, nurseries are cheaper than childminders (gotta love London!) so will be paying 950 per month at the nursery instead of 1200 + per month the plus is for the extra charges for excursions etc at all of our local childminders.

It is so stressful already and she's only a bump! I'll still have to look at a nanny or something for 5ish months as will go back to work April 2016 and the place isn't until Sept.

It is sad that I am already having to think of this before she's born but it needs to be done!

Chookford · 30/01/2015 18:08

scottish sorry to hear you have had a scare, but very glad to hear baby is ok!

I'm so very lucky in that I'm having a year off then going back to work two days a week and my mum will have baby one day and mother in law the other day so I don't have to fork out for childcare... It's good to be organised though especially if nurserys are already filling up!!

bradders85 · 30/01/2015 18:16

Evening everyone. Leanne a few nights earlier in the week I was waking up in the middle of the night and stripping off.....too hot!! I haven't experienced baby jumping on my bladder yet.....in fact I don't really seem to go to the toilet any more than normal so not sure if thats a worry?!

I can imagine the nursery situation being very different in parts of the country so I am pleased those that need to are getting sorted. I am going to make enquiries over half term about our local one's and think I will need at least 4 days a week of not 5.....childcare is like another mortgage!!

Happy Friday!!

leanne963 · 30/01/2015 18:58

Wow kitty I had NO idea nurseries and childminders were so expensive. I'm even thinking of becoming a childminder as I have no job to return to as I am finishing Uni just weeks before baby is due.

bradders That is exactly what I did last night I am so glad I am no pregnant in summer if I'm this hot now ha!

Had the WORST trapped wind and indegestion today. Have the worst pains and feel like I just want to burp but I can't. Might have been the Indian I ate last night......

longestlurkerever · 30/01/2015 19:03

Yes, sadly, tbh 950 is very reasonable in London for full timee which is probably ehy it is do booked up. We paid 550 a month for two days a week three years ago and that wasn't the priciest. One was over 100 quid a day! Who can afford that?? It's better now dd is at state nursery and has her free 15 hours but they're term time only so don't stretch as far as you think.
