Hope you're feeling better now ladies and everyone is having a nice wkend.

No linea nigra for me but I've definitely got an outie belly button now! bradders I can also feel kicks/punches on both sides of the bump now, its weird isn't it?

When is everyone finishing up work? Ive opted to finish 4wks before my due date but struggling a bit with tiredness

Blondie87 · 08/02/2015 18:07

Hi everyone, not been on the thread for a few days so trying to catch up with how everyone is!
Welcome to those who have just joined- this thread is a great source of comfort and advice.
Sorry to hear some of you are suffering. I hope you are getting the rest you need and that your loved ones are taking care of you!
Just back from our babymoon to the Lake District. It was wonderful- gorgeous weather, lots of walking (clocked up about 11 miles overall) and tonnes of food! Think the amount of food I ate cancelled out any exercise. Not including half term or Easter holidays I have 8 working weeks left. I can't believe that's all that is left. I'll be finishing at 37+3. Bump is so itchy- tried everything but the cold weather is just exacerbating it. Going to the doctor's tomorrow about a suspected bout of thrush- I know it's silly but I still feel very embarrassed about being examined. Working myself up about it!

KittyVonCatsington · 08/02/2015 18:12

ginger I'm always amazed at what the midwives can feel. They just press my tummy and then and say things like knee here and bum here etc.!

Am lucky and having my sister's baby furniture now her DD is 4. It is extra special as my Mum bought it for her when she had my nephew and she is no longer with us so Kitlet will have a bit of her grandma with her Smile It is all dark mahogany solid wood. Will feel so real when the nursery is done!

KittyVonCatsington · 08/02/2015 18:14

It isn't pleasant blondie but better than an examination for piles. Hope I never have to go through that again, ever! Grin

bradders85 · 08/02/2015 18:18

Hi catnip - it is weird yes but I love it - I need to try and catch it on film! Kitty it is amazing that midwives can be so specific about knees and elbows! - if i try to feel for anything it just all feels the same for me!! I have my 28 week appointment on wednesday although I will be a day off 29 weeks by then.
Pleased you had a lovely babymoon blondie - we are hoping to have 2 nights away in half term, planning on going to Shrewsbury - baby moon and my 30th birthday treat :)

longestlurkerever · 08/02/2015 18:33

Blondie you won't necessarily need to be examined. The first time I had it the Dr gave me a swab to do myself and hand back and after that they have just taken my word for it that it's back. That said, by the end of pregnancy with dd I felt my privatIe parts were private no more. Admiring examination of stitches after birth a particular highlight.

So knackered today. Was out all day yesterday for friend's hen. Wasn't even back that late but shattered today. Trying to decide if I can send dd to bed now!

Blondie87 · 08/02/2015 18:39

Kitty that's lovely that your little girl's nursery furniture will have some sentimental value with it. Not so lovely about the examination for you though poor thing! Thanks Bradders, it really is lovely to get some quality time away from home with your DP and as it's your 30th defs worth it!
Longest everyone says that- at the delivery room you leave your dignity at the door! Hope you get a decent nights' sleep.

longestlurkerever · 08/02/2015 19:01

Thanks blondie.

Is another milestone day as we have all reached 24 weeks, which is classed as viability, though I hope none of us have to go through very premature birth.

Your nursery sounds lovely kitty though I am sorry for your loss.

leanne963 · 08/02/2015 19:05

I think it is amazing that midwives can know what position our babies are in, at the moment i have no idea what is a foot or a hand and i don't think i have experienced the feet in ribs yet, if i were to have a guess i would say she is lying like Kitty's sideways as i always feel punches and kicks in my sides!

Got spoiled by my aunty today, she came up to visit and said 'We are going shopping' and took me to Babies R Us and bought an amazing Joie travel cot that comes with a bouncer and a changing mat! Was so grateful as it really is awesome, specially having a dog it would be helpful if i ran into the kitchen or to go to the loo.

How is everyone with their dreams at the moment? I know you are supposed to get strange dreams but i dreamt that me and my mum were trying to stab each other with scissors, i woke up a bit worried to be honest!? lol

KittyVonCatsington · 08/02/2015 19:19

Yep blondie our bodies are now fair game Wink

What a great milestone for everyone longest!!

I had a vivid and scary dream last night leanne - I dreamt Kitlet was born with 5 big teeth and I couldn't feed her and she refused all bottles as well. Totally freaked me out upon waking. Obviously what I am most anxious about Confused

Kitty It is scary cause is it showing our subconscious thoughts!? Cause i am actually getting on with my mum quite well at the moment so it was a little disturbing!

Tori Oh why did you have to mention lemon drizzle cake cause now i am imagining how good that tastes and i want some in my mouth now!!! Lol, I am 25 weeks today but haven't booked my appointment yet, will be this week probably. My midwife did the doppler at my 16 weeks scan which i didnt really was actually quite rare! I am looking forward to seeing her feel my bump and being able to tell how she is lying :D Good luck for tomorrow :D

ToriB34 Do you know what position your placenta is in? Mine is posterior )?!) and from around 26 weeks I have been able to see where the baby is lying as I can see a baby size rise on my belly. Bump shifts from left to right depending on where she's lying, quite freaky really! Baby has really packed on the pounds since week 20 - she's now just under 3lbs, so I can now see her movements more clearly from the outside (though some days I just wish I had a baby cam to spy on what the hell she is doing down there!!)

I have a BMI at the moment of 30+ and have a BMI over 27 before the pregnancy so fat shouldn't be a problem. I think majority of it depends on where the placenta is.

Ohhh cake - I have chocolate brownie mix in the kitchen, temptation :D

Chookford · 08/02/2015 19:50

blondie my thrush was picked up from a urine sample so I wasn't examined either I know have a prescription to drop in for canesten every time I feel it's coming back.. And yes being pregnant/in labour means you leave your dignity at the door and don't pick it back up until you leave the hospital again!! But it's all worth it in the end promise! Grin

kitty your nursery furniture sounds beautiful, and having that link to your mum makes it all the more special, kitlet is going to have a beautiful nursery. I am sorry to hear you have had the old rummage in the bum dept carried out though... That is just not on!!! I've had it before and its really unpleasant!!

longest hurrah for reaching milestones!!

tori cake sounds lush!!!

leanne I'm having plenty of dreams too mine are usually linked to sex though!! I'm like a 14yr old boy at the moment!! Blush

Haha Chook oh believe me i am also in the same boat. I think the 50 Shades of Grey trailer is getting in my brain as i had a dream some sexy unknown male got all frisky with me in an elevator........

plinkyplonks · 08/02/2015 20:06

catnip85 - I've decided to work up until due date (?!) and WFH hopefully for the last 4 weeks. I don't really want to be physically in work past 36 weeks, but depends totally on management team!

Blondie87 Oh, Lake District - always wanted to go there. A few of my friends have been on walking weekends - but they like taking on the hardcore hills (I'm not that brave!). How did you find the trails in pregnancy - would really fancy hiring a cottage for the weekend with the DH and doge but nervous about doing it at this stage.

KittyVonCatsington Aww that's really sweet! Wish I had enough room here for a dedicated nursery. I'm still in rented accommodation until July/August time when we can afford to get our own place ... not a lot of room and it's been a struggling fitting the baby's stuff in. Really need to throw more stuff out, though it feels like I've been tidying up forever!

longestlurkerever - Congratulations on the 24 week milestone Flowers

At the beginning of the pregnancy, I set myself a few key milestones marked in the calender - 12, 20, 24, 28, 30, 32, 37, 40. Time seems to be moving so slowly since 28 weeks :( I just want to hit 30 weeks (my nephew was born at 30 weeks). In some ways seeing the baby on the 3D scan has made it so much harder as I know what she looks like now, and regardless of what happens she is going to be born - and its now a case of survivability up until 37 weeks. It would utterly break my heart if anything was to happen now, she has a name, I've seen her face, already in love :(

leanne963 Me too! At the 28 week appt my midwife was having a good ole poke and squidge about to feel the baby's position - yaawwwch!! A lil bit painful! Your trip to Babies R Us sounded lovely! No strange dreams yet, just a few dreaming about the birth itself. I've been reading 'Your Baby and Child' by Penelope Leach - I start reading with good intentions, but soon find I'm daydreaming about what the baby's going to be like, what sort of mum I'll be and what I need to do during the birth. Then worries about BFing and all kinds. I'm just a worry wart!!!

Someone sent me this article, not sure if it's been posted before, but thought it was quite funny (and unfortunately quite accurate!!):

www.parents.com/pregnancy/my-life/emotions/the-multiple-personalities-of-pregnancy/

leanne963 · 08/02/2015 20:35

Plinky How was your little one lying? I worry if i press to hard on my belly i will 'bruise' her lol Would you recommend that book? I haven't read anything yet!! I have had various people tell me that babies who are bottle fed sleep better and now i am worrying that by breast feeding i will have a more restless baby, but i don't know whether this is just nonsense or not!? Being a first time mum is scary as you will never be prepared for what is about to happen ha!

bradders85 · 08/02/2015 20:56

The only odd dream I have had is that I had sex with my doctor on his desk in his GP surgery Blush He isn't even attractive!! ha!

Scottishgal78 · 08/02/2015 21:19

A lot of catching up to do on here! I had a really odd dream that I had the baby and he was a baby but with my OH's full sized head! I was showing picturea to people and they were like 'oh he's lovely' with scared looks! Grin went pram shopping today. Think the Uppababy Vista is our choice. Looking for something to convert to a double down the line just in case (OH looks scared by this)! Anyone have any experience of this pram?

applecore0317 · 08/02/2015 21:30

Hi :)

got my 25 week appointment on wednesday so am looking forward to finding out how she is lying :) I know her head is down just from the internal scans

sex dreams have been creeping in occasionally. Mainly due to docs banning me from having it... has been nearly four months sob

sending hugs plinky, time always goes slow when you don't want it to

applecore0317 · 08/02/2015 21:31

Think I might start my mat leave four weeks earlier than planned now, 1st April. Not deciding yet though, will see how the appointments go

bradders85 · 08/02/2015 21:44

scottish that reminds me I had that very dream!! I was holding my baby and bfing but the small baby body had dp's adult sized head!! How odd.....perhaps we are all hoping for small babies!

Justyouwaitandsee · 08/02/2015 21:50

Hey apple and bradders
How strange I think I had a similar dream to giving birth to a miniature (but bigger than normal sized baby) DH! I also had another dream where DH went to hand me the baby, and I realised I had given birth to our cat Hmm - anxiety dreams all round I think!!!
